I think it would be interesting to have eventually, but there are more pressing features to implement in the next couple years.

I guess I don't see how this idea fits into the game, how does it work?

You are not the commisioner or an owner, you are a GM or GM\manager. So do you simply sit and wait until the owners and union work out an agreement? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head would be for the owner to order you to put together a team using replacement players. Where would these guys come from? A newly created pool or amatuers since you would probably not find enough real minor leaguers willing to cross the line?

Can the AI owners call for a lockout? If the players can strike then this would need to be in too, wouldn't it?

How does the strike get resolved? The owner personalities and the game generated player reps (does each team have a union rep?) and the union head get together to negotiate? What's the point since you, the player of the game, are only a GM and wouldn't even be involved?

Too me this would be a feature that I would not want to see Markus spend any time on. Not because other things are higher on my list but because I see it as a total waste of time and not even worthy of a place on the list.

my YMMV

Yeah, I was being gentle on this suggestion at first, but yeah, its not the GM experience at all, nothing would happen during this time, you'd just sim ahead weeks/months/years until it was over.

But a strike could change the financial nature of your universe making things interesting as we scramble to adapt to a new financial reality.

You definatly have to act as either the owner or an owner's representative for this option to work. The only way I can see this option being fun and a challenge, it would be because you are invovled in the negotiations and the votes and what not. Or you take over as commissioner, which you can always do (GMs don't get to decide how the league is set up) and handle the situation solo.

Boo, hiss.

Expansion/contraction is a thousand times more important than this, and nonetheless still isn't in the game.

So, dump all your players, start a new league with new financial coeffiecients, and do an inital draft with imported players?

Did past baseball strikes even result in "new financial realities"? Can't you just turn on and off free agency or waivers or something?

Didn't think I'd be in the minority, when I voted, but I'm with Cras on this one. I think it'd be a good challenge and would add more to the game's personality.

If we are going to have strikes and fans assulting playes/umps in the game, then I demand that we can also program a "Disco Sucks" night too.

I think there's a hobbit dynasty over in those forums.

Strikes and labor relations are a major part of baseball and must be in the game, as long as it is fully optional. Just like the DH.

That said ,this issue can be safely ignored for the time being as more pressing items are added.

Ask again in two version, after basic plays and expansion drafts and . . .

Nonsense. This is not a commissioner's office sim, but a GM/manager sim.

I'm with MD. If the challenge was to be an owner, then yeah I think it'd be cool. Plus, I'm with others who want all the negativity left out. No steroids, no strikes, no Barry Bonds, etc.

I can't think of many ideas that would keep me from buying this game, but that's one of them.

One of the GM's primary function's is dealing with constantly changing labor rules.

For your GM simulator, explain the utility of a rain delay.

Please not I often play as a commish, simulating several years or decades at a time.

It would be nice to eventually have this feature.
