I submit to you starting goalies in the current playoffs with worse career playoff GAAs and save percentages.

Marty Turco's career playoff GAA: 2.54
That is better than: Ryan Miller (2.71), Martin Gerber (6.33), Jose Theodore (2.60), Dwayne Roloson (2.80), Chris Mason (3.79), Henrik Lundqvist (4.51), Ray Emery (2.78), John Grahame (3.42), and Robert Esche (2.55).

Marty Turco's career SPCT: .892
That is better than: Martin Gerber (.750), Chris Mason (.889), Henrik Lundqvist (.820), and John Grahame (.883. Ryan Miller's is a hair above at .894.
Of all the goalies you listed, only 3 would be fair comparisons to Turco.

Gerber, Miller, Mason, Lundqvist, Emery, & Grahame have played 4,5,5,3,5, & 6 playoff games respectively.

Turco has played 22. Theodore 33, Rolosn 20, and Esche 24.

For GAA he barely is ahead of Theodore and Esche. For SPCT he's behind all 4 by a good margin. Turco had 1 good playoff season, in 02/03. His last two playoff season, 03/04 & 05/06 he has a 3.36 GAA and a SPCT of .859 with a record of 2-8. Hardly the type of numbers you want your playoff goalie to have.

Turco plays great during the regular season, but can't get the job done in the playoffs.

Those have been excellent series though.

As exciting as the Edmonton/Detroit series has been they could play the game at 3 in the morning and I'd stay up for it. Though, I am a night owl.

So you give Turco credit for 02/03 (1.88 GAA, .919 S% in 12 games) but label him unable to get the job done based on a handful of poor performances in a set of 10 other games. If next season Dallas got to the Finals would he would suddenly earn the label of being able to cut it in the playoffs? Heck, maybe if Arnott hits net instead of post and Morrow does not take a penalty, then Turco is right now proving he can get the job done in the playoffs.

Ugh, I loathe the proclamations based on relatively quite few performances determining that players are different based on the calendar - apparently guys cannot just play poorly in the postseason, they must be unable to cut it when it matters. This is especially grating when my team has been knocked out.

One team from the filthiest city on the planet eliminated from the playoffs, one to go. Somebody please beat the Pistons!!!! Sadly, I don't think it will happen until the Finals, if at all.

Sure, Edmonton beating Detroit is a surprise. Still, I'll say this: if you go into the season with goaltenders called Legace and Osgood and you don't upgrade, you better be as good as the 1997/98 Red Wings. If you're not, you're not serious about winning.

Game seven for Calgary/Anaheim. I am not happy about that. I am still sure the Flames will prevail, having home ice in game seven, but a little break in between series would have been good.

I have to say, I'm pretty happy about things have turned out. I just want the Ducks to win now and I'll be right on three of my 4 Western Conference picks (with Detroit being the only one I'm wrong on).

The Flames haven't done anything easy this year. This will be a tight. tight game.
