Started at 10. Monroe had a pair of RBI singles, Inge had a 2 RBI single, Guillen had an RBI double. I know Polanco and Ordonez both had a couple of solid singles as well.

Wow, what a game today! That was the best game I've seen all season! Inge gets a game changing 15 pitch at bat (plate appearance-BB), and the reliever loses it afterwards and we pull ahead in the ninth. Then Rodney finishes it by getting into and working out of a jam. Beautiful!

"Since being drafted in the fourth round last year out of Texas A&M, Tigers reliever Kevin Whelan has put up numbers that look more like something from a top high school pitching prospect than a minor leaguer. In 31 pro innings, the 22-year-old righty has allowed eight hits and 11 walks, while recording 52 strikeouts. One scout was surprised at Whelan's arsenal when he recently saw him pitch for High-A Lakeland. "I thought he'd throw harder; he's low 90s, but he's interesting because he basically does it with three fastballs," said the scout. "He throws the straight fastball, a splitter with good fade, and a big forkball that just goes straight down and can be unhittable." However, the scout was concerned with Whelan's mechanics. "He short-arms everything. He was a catcher, and it looks like it when he pitches. I put him down as a potential closer, but it could depends on if his arm holds up."

But Dombrowski is almost as bad as Matt Millen (atleast according to local radio slappys)

If the local talking heads are comping Dombrowski to Millen, they are dumber than the norm for that particular endeavor.

I wonder what moves Millen has made that remotely compare to the thefts of Guillen, Polanco, and Shelton.

Nope. Sure doesn't. I didn't even mention the two MLB champions Dombrowski put together in Florida. Dombrowski is one of the finest GM's in the game. As he is proving once again in Motown.

I think I've seen him pitch in college. If he is who I think he is...that stuff was just nasty.
