1902 Prospect Watch: LAZARUS "GERMANY" DAVID ![]() Widely scouted for his ability to slap hits to all fields, "Germany" is generally considered the top batting prospect in this year's pitching-heavy draft pool. He should start the season in the minor leagues, but don't be surprised if he's promoted to the big show by midseason. He is known for his stern demeanor while on the field, attacking the ball with rare passion. By the end of nine innings, it is quite rare for his uniform to be stain-free, considering his tendency to hurl himself in the dirt after any ball hit within his range. Talents (Con/Gap/HR/Eye/Avoid): 90/40/20/90/40 Current Ratings: 36/16/8/36/16 |

1902 FINAL STANDINGS
The Scarlets were picked to repeat as CL champs, but they just couldn't get into the groove. Taking advantage of their lapse were the Pirates, Perfectos and Beaneaters who fought back and forth all season long. In the end, Boston finished the season on a 11-1 run, becoming the 2nd team to win the pennant. Code:

1902 WORLD SERIES
9/30/1906 - GAME 1 BEANEATERS 1 - KNIGHTS 2, 11 innings Both teams scored a run in the 1st, then remained scoreless until the bottom of the 11th when pinch-hitter Fred Jacklitsch led off with a walk, stole second, then was knocked in by Davy "Kangaroo" Jones, ironically the 22 year-old replacement for the injured "Wee Willie" Keeler. 10/1/1906 - GAME 2 BEANEATERS 6 - KNIGHTS 4 In a sloppy game, 7 errors between the two teams lead to 5 unearned runs. Ultimately the Knights' errors are more costly, resulting in 3 runs in the 6th. Bill Friel leads Boston with 3 RBI. 10/3/1906 - GAME 3 KNIGHTS 6 - BEANEATERS 7 New York gets out to a quick 5-1 lead in the 3rd, but Boston doesn't allow them to hold it for long, rallying back to nip the Knights 7-6. New York fans are beginning to get a sense of deja vous. Danny Shay leads the Beaneaters with 3 hits and 2 RBI. 10/4/1906 - GAME 4 KNIGHTS 4 - BEANEATERS 5 It was a comedy of errors in Game 4. Boston committed 3 flubs, but they couldn't compare to New York who bobbled an amazing 7 balls! , including 3 muffs in the bottom of the 9th by rightfielder "Rowdy Jack" O'Connor that allowed the Beaneaters to walk off with the unlikely win, despite being outhit 12-6. O'Connor had to be escorted from the stadium to avoid the rabid New York fans calling for his head. Luckily the game was held in Boston or violence may have broken out. 10/5/1906 - GAME 5 KNIGHTS 3 - BEANEATERS 4, 10 innings After the debacle of Game 4, Game 5 was a breath of fresh air, going to extra innings. In front of the home crowd, Kitty Bransfield helped Boston complete the 4 game comeback with a walkoff RBI double in the bottom of the 10th. Beaneaters fans rushed the field in adulation as the Knights slunk off the field for the second year in a row. 1902 WORLD CHAMPS - BOSTON BEANEATERS 1st Championship SERIES MVP: Bill Friel - .444, 8 RBI, .542 OBP |

I apologize for the lack of an update yesterday. I seem to have caught a bit of the plague myself....The "I drank too much cheap wine and feel like crap" plague.

1903 Prospect Watch: RICHARD FAULKNER ![]() 17 year-old Faulkner is known for his baby face as well as his cannon of an arm. His arm is so powerful that many scouts believe he could also pitch with success. He is quite raw and will require a year or two in the minor leagues before making the show, but, if he develops as expected, whichever team drafts him will not mind the wait.
