My main point which I did not make very good for this thread was that with Markus on board with SI and OOTP clearly taking a drection other SI games haven't gone in. It can only benefit the other games down the road weather or not People want customization or not.

P.S. I love Hockey and I have grown to like Soccer because I gave Worldwide Soccer manager a chance last year.....

....And I'm American!!

FM does have an option to start with fictional players, although I don't think this is widely used. FM does not have the option of creating fictional leagues. However, there are so many real leagues available with different rules and formats, your bound to find one that suits your tastes.
im under the impression they are not really fictional players. i think they are replications of real players with their name changed.

anyone know for sure?

The makers of FM 2006 (the latest version of the game), have confirmed that the new players who come into the database each year, are randomly generated. They are no longer just remakes of retired players (which was the procedure in earlier versions of the game).

Correct. I am not sure how familiar your are with FM. FM 2006 has been out for a number of months and that is the version that most of the FM community (including me) is currently playing.
