Oh, they were certainly expecting it; I don't think the ND players were fooled at all. But just like when the Steelers are on the 1 and put in the Bus and score anyway--if the offense is talented and executes the play, they'll gain a half-yard on the defense 90% of the time.

edit: Your edit means we probably are saying the same thing.

Yea, I think Weis probably realized it...which is a big reason he was out on the field.

In fact, USC came very close to getting screwed. Before the officials got together and got it right.

I said that before I saw the replay. That's why I haven't defended my claim.

WOW! Amazing game, obviously one of the best football games I have ever seen. Between this game, Michigan/Penn St., and Wisconsin/Minnesota, what an amazing day of finishes.

Oh yeah, Reggie Bush = Heisman. I'm ready to give it to him right now.

I'm not going to root for him though...that crap slowing down at the 20 and pointing to whoever the hell he was pointing was "bush".

One question about the play where Leinart fumbled...

It looked to me like the ball traveled backwards after the hit, but it was spotted inside the one yard line. Shouldn't it be spotted where it goes out of bounds, or am I mistaken about the rule? I thought it should have been back at least a yard or two from where it was placed.

(Not a USC or ND fan, so this is just curiosity.)

I actually thought the same, that the ball should have been spotted where it went out. Had sound off so don't know if this was discussed during the telecast.

I thought that was the rule as well, but evidently the officials thought they made the right call.

I believe everyone here has the rule correct, and the refs flummoxed the call.

If Notre Dame gets a stop on 4th and 8, this isn't a conversation. But wow, what a play that was. Big cahones. Reminded me of that Drew Tate throw that won Iowa their bowl in January.

I have been reading on another board that Leinart was vomiting after the game and is suspected to have a concussion.

Well an OL did fall on his head, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Wouldn't surprise me. He looked pretty out of it. Hell, he almost dropped the ball again on the TD.

Big brass ones on that kid, regardless. Hell of a play on 4th and 8.

I think a touchdown machine in Texas might take issue with that.

Didn't the ball go out of bounds at about the 1 yard line?

How happy does it make darkhorse that there is a Longhorn named Taurean?

That one had escaped me. 'Course being slippery is his trade.

Oh, and he's a Red Raider.
