If we'd include them in the mobile version, we would cannibalize our desktop sales and be out of business in a year. That can't be in your interest. Another option would be to add all desktop-exclusive features to OOTP Go (many modern phones would be able to handle this), and then price the game at $49.99. I don't believe this is in your interest either.

This is something I have been thinking about, baring in mind this a thought from one consumer.

Being completely oblivious as to what would go into it, could there be two versions of Go26. One that follows the previous versions, and an OOTP Go26+ at higher price point which includes what are currently desktop only features?

As I said, I don't know what this means in not only coding, but marketing and public relations but I figure it doesn't hurt to throw it out there. I would also have no idea of the time and resources vs the sales target but completely understand why I cant have it all for $9.99

Truth is I buy the desktop version every year but these days life gives me little time to sit and play (which is why I am someday hoping for a mobile FHM-hint hint). I started a random debut in the desktop version and haven't made it through the first season yet. I am heavily reliant on my iPad for entertainment these days and would pay $49.99 and consider it a no brainer.

This is me as well. I think the company believes they have two markets, the in-depth baseball community playing the desktop version and a second of “gamers” on the mobile. At least two of us — granted, a small market maybe — are only playing iPad because of convenience. We would still pay for a better game on the mobile device.

Given the limitations of iOS, maybe a $19.99 or even $24.99 version could sell. Not sure.

If doable, it would have to be the price of the desktop version or close to it to have it make business sense and even entertain the idea. If you get 80% of the game for $25 they could lose desktop sales and rightfully that should be the companies first priority.

I don’t disagree, but the iOS version can never get to 80% of the desktop game. iOS simply can’t handle the requirements.

I would like to see two versions of Go: one without buying the computer version (same as current) and one with.

That version has all the extras that we want from the computer version.

Suggestion: optional daily roundup.

A nice feature (maybe in the main game first, then in GO later) would be an option within ‘finish today’ to produce a daily roundup of highlights to check out. Options might include:

—scope (all games, my league only, my division only, division leaders only, division leaders and wild-card contenders only)
—detail level (all run-scoring plays or only tying or lead changing runs, include all HRs(yes/no), milestone stats events (yes/no), unusual plays and injuries (yes/no) )
—format (show on normal screen, or post to dailyroundup.html replacing yesterday’s file (or appending the date and saving them all), with text and embedded video of highlights)

GO sort of lets you do this from the scores screen and you can hide the scores and view each game’s highlights, but the level of detail is a bit strange, often including inning-ending grounders well before the ninth inning and other headscratchers. The HTML option would allow the user to read the highlights from the test engine (including an intro showing where both teams were in the standings going into the game, and a summary showing their spots after it) and only click on the accompanying video for the most interesting ones while skipping past the ones of little interest.

For fictional leagues, this would help the user learn the big names in the league before actually playing the other teams.

(By the way: in GO right now if you cover the screen pre-pitch with the batter and pitcher ratings, you need to go back to field view before the game ends, or your highlights will cover the outfield with the batter and pitcher boxes throughout. Might want to fix that.)

In order to collect the initial feedback & suggestions, I figured it would make sense to have a single thread about this.

But first off, let me say something about the price of the game, which is now $9.99. In the past couple of years, OOTP Go was a free download, but you had to pay $4.99 each for current MLB and KBO rosters. This was an experiment, we wanted to see if we'd convert some new users to avid PT players who'd offset the loss we'd generate by making the game free. Simple conclusion: It did not work, this model makes no economic sense for us, as OOTP is apparently simply too niche. So, we decided to go back to the premium app model. Now, in some threads some users voiced their disappointment about this, sometimes with ridiculous statements like "it sucks having to pay for this" which quite frankly make me pretty angry. Look, for less than 10 bucks you get a game which has 90% of the feature set of the desktop game, which costs five times as much. Plus, you get all the new engine and AI stuff, select other new desktop features and full Perfect Team cross-platform support. If you think "this sucks", then I urge you to take a minute and think this through. Heck, nowadays you don't even get a decent burger for $9.99, as sad as that is.

Another thing, we often get asked for feature additions like commish mode or various advanced league options. But, those are intentionally desktop-only. Long story short, I truly believe OOTP Go 25 is a bargain at $9.99. You get the best baseball simulation on the planet, sporting the identical core features and 90% of the expanded feature set of the amazing desktop game.

Still, if you have suggestions on how to improve the game, we'd love to hear them, of course Will and I will do the best we can to improve the game over the coming months. And as always, all the tweaks & improvements of the core engines from the desktop game will carry over to OOTP Go 25.

Thank you all for your support and your patience!

Minor game play issue:

On many grounders to SS with runner on third (or runners on second and third) and infield back, the SS throws home. This virtually never happens in real life.

Related issue: sometimes runners don't even try to score in the same situation, which never happens in real life.

Please improve rehab process. There needs to be a transaction to end rehab without having to activate player to major leagues.

Many rehabs end with pitcher being optioned to minors.

What about if you unlocked more mobile features with proof of desktop purchase? I feel that is the most fair. I think paying for mobile app even after desktop purchase is fair because the app is still a separate development.

One significant flaw in OOTP Go is that postseason rosters are generally incorrect in Live Start.

If you create a game in the middle of a series, you can't update the roster.

And even worse, whenever a player has to activated from the "Designated for Assignment" or IL menu, you are blocked by the moratorium on any transactions during a postseason series.

In the computer version, in Commissioner mode, you can fix these issues, but not in Go.

One fix is to allow any DFA or IL players to be moved to a postseason inactive list, which could replace the unnecessary and confusing DFA list.

Thank you!

One of my favorite things to do in OOTP Go is to play GM and set up my roster for the next season.

This year, preparing for 2025, I have seen several players eligible for arbitration who are actually free agents, such as Pete Alonso and Brooks Raley. I'm sure there are many others.

It seems the data source you are using is not as accurate as it could be. Fangraphs Roster Resource is much more accurate.

Thanks for reading.

Offseason events schedule is very off. Free agent filing happens in late November, while arbitration happens right after the World Series. Other events off as well.
