In a nutshell, Gambos DB imports players a little early (and adjusts rating accordingly) based on when they they made their pro debut, as opposed to their major league debut (hence the 1973 import for Lynn). The Arod/Garlon DB imports players based on when they actually had a certain amount of AB's for the season (hence the 1975 import for Lynn), and also fixes the issues with the original Lahman DB like no strikeout data or caught stealing data for the earlier part of the 1900's. Both of them (depending on the version of the DB) also include Negro Leaguers that they have added.
It all depends on what flavor you like. Ive tried the Gambo-Pure DB but was having an issue with the sign and release problem, that I did not have when using the original Lahman DB (why the database makes a difference there, I have no idea though). Im running through the first year of a different league using the Arod/Garlon DB now. I dont know if Ill run into the sign and release problem there. Check out the mod forums or do a search for those databases for more info Last edited by Nukester; 06-03-2007 at 10:38 PM. |

This guide is most helpful.
One thing that still has my head spinning, though, are the various bells and whistles available. (Stadia, uniforms, player photos.) It would be handy to have a list of add-ons for historical leagues, which notes on what to add where and how for the maximum amount of shiny historical graphics and immersive real detail. |

With the newer releases of the game, would any of the veterans here like to offer additional thoughts on this great thread?
