Elam Vangilder 1919
Thank you, I didn't have great hopes for that image.
Extracted from the 1924 St. Louis Browns team photo is an image of right handed pitcher Elam Vangilder whose Major League career spanned 11 consecutive seasons mainly with the St. Louis Browns. He fell one victory short of 100 wins and just went over that milestone in losses, with a career high 19 wins in 1922. That year he matched his win total in complete games. In 1923 he recorded one more complete game, a career high of 20 from another career high of 35 starts while posting career bests ERA in a full season of 3.06 accompanied by 4 shutouts. His best strikeout total of 74 was also reached but on the downside he led the American League with 120 walks from his career most of 282 innings pitched. Elam Vangilder made his Major League debut in mid September 1919 with the St. Louis Browns. From 3 games he recorded an ERA of 2.08 completing his only start. In 1920 he increased his starts to 13 completing 4. In 1921 he reached double figures in wins for the first time from 21 starts. After his peak 2 years his starts fell to 18 in 1924 as did his won loss record to 5-10. in 1925 he posted an impressive record of 14-6 but now he was more of a relief pitcher than a starter. The next 3 seasons he averaged 10 wins a season including 1928 his first year with the Detroit Tigers. He ended his Major League career in 1929 with just 6 appearances for the Tigers. |

Happy Foreman 1924
Yes, thank you so much outstanding. The lower image is of Dixie Davis.
I am not sure if the attached image is of Happy Foreman with the 1924 Chicago White Sox as I suggest. It could also be from the 1926 Boston Red Sox. One source for the image states it to be a Brace image. So I checked the substantive list housed on TNFOTO's site to see if that could help but it was not listed. Bill Nowlin details a comprehensive biography for this player on SABR. One of the points emphasised that he was given little opportunity despite his figures being among the best on his 2 teams. He made his debut with the 1924 Chicago White Sox appearing in 3 games and posting a 2.25 ERA from 4 innings. In 1926 he returned and played for another cellar dweller the 1926 Boston Red Sox again appearing in 3 games. |

I know there is another, less active colorization thread on here but I am wondering can we keep them all together somehow? I use this thread for reference as to who we did images of and who we didn't and I had seen a few on there that aren't on here.
