Would it ever be possible for us to view a players season stats on their player profile in a month by month format?

I know we can view it at the moment on a game by game basis but i'd love to see who runs hot and cold over the different months of a season

What effects do the various GM attributes have?
(Apart from negotiation skill which is pretty clear)

What does this GM message mean? They're saying they don't want to move Clutterbuck because they've only just acquired him but he's spent the last 8 years at The Islanders. He's not been demoted and promoted back again recently and he hasnt just signed an extension, so I'm at a bit of a loss. I've had it with a few players in similar situations.

Any insights would be great!

Clutterbuck's RL contract ends at the end of this season (3.5M). Looks like the Isles just re-upped him with a small pay increase, which I believe from experience the AI considers as a recent acquisition in the backend, despite the player being on the team for several years.

Thank you ARG, I think the phrasing just confused me!

I'll add one. I think player management is really important. To me, it's kind of like 'people skills.' A high rating in this category tends to boost player morale and help ward off many of those dreaded sad faces.

Thank you in advance for any constructive feedback to either or both of the following:

1. Playing in Commissioner Mode and as Unemployed, I compared the displayed attributes to the editor attributes for some NHL players and some top prospects on the Futures List. It seems that the attribute ratings that you see on the player profiles are the actual ones in the editor for developed players and one point lower for each attribute for prospects. Is this correct?

2. It appears that the general OFF and DEF ratings on the player pop-ups are just the average of the seven corresponding attribute ratings rounded up (more specifically, the 1-1000 Talent rating for each is the average of the seven attributes multiplex by 50). While this does give an indication of the total attribute points a player has in that category, it applies an equal weight to each attribute (so, for example, Shot Blocking and Defensive Read ratings have the same influence on the DEF rating). Is this observation accurate?

How do I get more hits out of my team? I have the aggressiveness and hitting sliders at max and still end up at the bottom of the league in hits.

WHA is always unrestricted - when a player's contract runs out, he can sign with any other WHA team.

With the 19-man rosters, 6D/11F generally works best, it's less awkward for the AI to fill that extra forward spot than make an odd number of D work.
Thanks for the clarification.

Now there's something funny going on though. I'm still playing the save I started in NHL year 1974. It's December 1978 and now some of my players are suddenly listed as UFA in 'free agent type'. Some are young players, some a bit older. Also some are on expiring contracts and some are not.

But UFA should not be a thing in 1978, right?

Some of these are my drafted players, some were on the team from the game start. Is this a bug or might it have something to do with the upcoming expansion draft with the WHA folding?

Acquire more players with a higher 'hit' rating, and look for coaches who prefer a physical style of play. (Positioning and agility may be important too, as they often need to be in the right place at the right time to deliver a bone-crunching hit).

Are you simming your team's games in 2D and the rest of the league in Classic by any chance? Hits are quite a bit lower in 2D - in seasons simulated ENTIRELY in the 2D engine, the league leader in hits ends up at ~150 (vs ~250 for seasons simulated entirely in Classic).

Seems this was a display bug or at least I didn't lose any players to UFA status after the season - the status was fixed when free agency began. Still something to note, the FA status may show incorrect information sometimes, it seems.

Not necessarily. The difference will depend on the quality of scouting and the inherent scouting error/consensus on the player.

No, some attributes are weighted lower if they're not as relevant to the player (e.g. faceoffs for a defenceman.)

Thank you for responding. Also, I realized after posting that these may have been unsuitable for a “quick questions” thread; my apologies if that is the case.

A few questions for my custom league that I could really use help with

1. What size league do you need to have a national media contract? I currently have 18 teams and there is no national media contract. Will this change if I expand? Can I edit myself?

2. Can finances such as media contracts, average player salaries, etc. be edited anywhere from commissioner mode?

3. Is there ever an all-star game in custom leagues?

Thanks for your help!

I'm gonna say 'Loss Penalties' because OT is for an overtime win, which would make 'Loss PS' a shootout loss.

Are there any things I should consider when moving someone who can only play LW to RW that would affect their performance on that side? Apart from obviously the time it takes them to get more familiar with that position, unless that doesnt matter of course

Not editable at the moment. It should be generated for top-level leagues, but it appears that may not be happening at the moment, so the only way to get it right now in a custom game would be to start with the NHL setup. I'll take a look at why other top-level custom leagues aren't getting it.

No, none of those are editable right now.

Only with the NHL start.
