This man belongs to the Hall of Fame ... while his lifetime suspension may (or may not) have made sense back then, with all these PED users and other cheaters allowed to get awards and continue after a short ban it doesn't make sense anymore. And everybody who saw him play and saw him hustle, doing all he could to win ballgames ... do you really think he EVER bet AGAINST his team ?
Anyway, here he comes, Mr. Pete Rose ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yes he belongs in the HOF.... the problem is education of facts on what he did and what he didn't do. So the commissioner is more or less afraid now to revoke what the commissioner did before he died. One fact today does stand out is no gambler caught ever made it to HOF

Ron Swoboda (of course)
We'll see him again with his more familiar #4, but as a rookie in '65 he wore #14, had to switch when the Mets traded foolishly for the aging fading Ken Boyer in '66 Rocky hit 19 HRs his rookie year , more then Mantle or Mays hit in their rookie years as was noted by all NYC baseball fans. Sadly he did not turn into the power threat Met fans were hoping for.

Didn't Mark McGwire hit the most home runs as a rookie with 41. Of which I think is STILL the record

13 days left. This guy was a SS/3B for us in the late 90's. His MLB career started a bit late so he didn't have much longevity. Nonetheless, he was rock solid in the infield and had a pretty darn good bat. 1995 was when he was best - he had 8.3 WAR that year. #13 John Valentin

Oh, man, I've been waiting for this one too. In my entire life, I've never seen anyone, in over five decades. who got as much joy out of playing for just playing as Salvy.

In the early days of the Blue Jay franchise, this guy was a top 5 player on our team (that's not saying much, but he was consistently there during his four years with us). Roy Howell #13

This guy was part of the best fielding play I ever saw. He had to be carted off on a stretcher after it was over, but he got two outs on the play (thanks to his old teammate and good friend Gorman Thomas gingerly stepping around him while he snuck a tag on him despite a broken ankle). Buck Martinez #13

Hide the Red Bull and other energy drinks kids. This guy's a bit of a fiend, and kind of dumb as rocks. He brings a lot of intensity though. Brett Lawrie #13

This guy was smooth as silk at SS. Some say he's worthy of the Hall of Fame. I happen to not agree, but one thing we can all agree on: He was fun to watch at SS. Omar Vizquel #13

Perhaps it's just a coincidence, but 13 actually has been kind of a jinxed or cursed number for the Yanks over the years. Among my choices here was one of the most infamous cheaters in MLB history, or a murderer...oh, I'm sorry he was acquitted on the DUI/manslaughter charge, silly me. He was only convicted for DUI. Both shall remain nameless.
At any rate, here's Mike Pagliarulo, a good player and (gasp!) solid citizen. His career got off to pretty fast start, and it looked like he would be a perennial 30+ HR threat and play solid D for the Yanks at thirdbase for years. While he fell a mite short of those lofty expectations, at least it isn't an embarrassment to post his name and picture here, as it would be with those other two clowns.

I have played countless OOTP season and had some pretty dominant teams, but NONE started 35-5 like the 1984 Detroit Tigers. One of the cornerstones of that team, Lance Parrish

.... I cant break that 35-5 record myself even created a 1984 season trying to see if I can get close ... never could LOL in my personal league I however did tie the 41-9 record but the started at 32-8 was my best
