Hey, Cubby, I also get the same error:

"An error occurred while loading the database!
Could not load world file"

Any idea how to correct this issue?

Also, I just now made an account, but I've been using your work for some time now. Thanks for everything.

EDIT: Based on previous posts in this thread, it looks like I(/we, to those who also have this issue) need to finish a version update. Now to see if I can figure out how to go about that. If anyone sees this before I figure it out, please point me in a direction.

I'm ridiculously glad these rosters have come out! However, I'm a huge Padres fan and the fact that they are one of two teams not updated, yet the roster is totaled as finalized slightly irks me, especially considering they have the top farm system in baseball. I was thinking about going through their system and just re-rating everyone, I would gladly upload it for you if it would help you out Cubby, I was just waiting for the Zips projections to come out, but they seem to bone the Padres pretty badly anyways. Just lemme' know Cubby.

Also, I was wondering if you have a file of the updated ratings without the transactions from this season, if not it's no big deal, I would just like to play around while there's still some decent players left on the free agent market.

Is anyone else who is using v3.1 noticing that C.J.Wilson on the Angels seems to have a very low stamina rating for a starting pitcher? If I edit his stamina to a higher number the rating changes but he still expects the closer's role. Is there a way to change that expectation?

Hmmm - there *might* be a way to edit that on the left hand side of the player editor (expected role).

If that doesn't work, try releasing him out of his contract (zero it out first to avoid penalties) and then reassign him to the Angels with his current deal. May reset that expectation.

Thanks Cubby I'll try that. Also, thanks for all your work on this roster set. For me,with this set out, I am not as "worried" about the release date of 13. I absolutely love the timing of your set, and, as always, the quality and depth of your work.

I've been experiencing this too. I've been playing on the V3.0 file though so I'm not sure if this was fixed with 3.1 (downloading it now). There's literally never hitters rated over 21 in FA that aren't international guys. On top of that, McCutchen just filed for FA in 2018 () and I went to see what kind of money he was wanting in the FA pool on the first day of Free Agency and he's not even in the MLB anymore. He's in some other alternate MLB or something. I checked and there have been a lot of players that get sucked into this thing. Kershaw, Verlander, Lester, Andrus, and a ton more. They're still playing games and everything but against and for weird alternate versions of MLB teams.

Before you start your game, you have to delete the "Major American League" league in game setup.

Too Much Offense?

Hi OOTP Community,

I am new to OOTP and to the forums, Like most people here I want to start by saying thanks to Cubby for his amazing work in updating all the rosters!!!

Having played around with this roster set for about a week now, I am finding that offense around the league seems to be a little bit too strong. At first I thought it was because HR's were happening a little too frequently, so I decided to sim two full seasons to see what the end results were. After running two full seasons I found that HR's were occurring a little bit too frequently, but they were not the key determinate in causing high-scoring games. It turns out that there are too many BB's occurring (at least compared to real life).

For example in the my game, the league total BB's for 2012 and 2013 for the AL and NL were as follows:
AL2012: 7861 / AL2013:8193
NL2012: 9078 / NL2013: 9181

In contrast, in the big leagues the number of BB were:
AL2010: 7367 / AL2011: 6986
NL2010: 8411 / NL2011: 8032

My guess is that the extra BB's are causing the extra HR/G due to approximately 1000 extra AB's per league. (Although as an aside, when I looked at HR/AB they were slightly higher than in real life as well).

Cubby, I am not sure you have any interest in fixing this issue at this point, but my initial guess is that pitchers control is a little under-rated using your ratings. (At least that is my initial noobish guess as I am relatively new to OOTP and do not necessarily fully understand how all this works).

I'm curious how you use the ZIP projections to come up with players ratings? Is there a methodology to the way you do this? If so, would you mind sharing your methodology? I would be really curious to know how you this so that I could do some tweaking myself.

Cheers, and once again, thanks for all the really hard work!!

As someone who has his hands on the roster set for OOTP13, I would tell you not to be worried at all. They blow this set away.

This is great! The nice thing about OOTP is, is that you can adjust the league modifiers instead of having to change all of the player ratings. If I have some time this weekend, I might mess around with them and see if I can come up with some better numbers.

(if you are interested in checking them out, they are under league setup, I think league totals? one of the last tabs)

Unrealistic salaries?

Have you guys noticed extremely high salaries in the offseason with this set?

I can't speak for many examples but I was trying to sign Greinke...he ended up going to San Francisco for 32.5mm per year, for 4 years.

LMAO Melky Cabrera just signed for $20MM per yr w/the Yankees (who now have $311MM budget) after hitting .321/13/82 with the Giants. WHAT!?

Ha, that is quite interesting indeed.

If anyone wants to mess around with the financial modifiers, please do and let us know how it looks. I believe it likely has something to do with the amount of free money teams have since the luxury tax was turned off.

So there's no way to use these on a Mac I'm guessing? I can't figure it out.

With the 3.1 file the Tigers traded Fielder for Cespedes. Obviously that's an awful trade for the Tigers. Any way to make things more realistic? Like changing trade difficulty?

I thought I had the latest database, but R.A. Dickey's pitching stats for 2011 is still missing. Was this ever fixed? If so, how can I import him back in?
