the funny thing is you can turn them off the last day of the month, progress to next month, and then turn them back on...repeat again at ends month.

Pretty sure scouts are the problem.
(it's pretty obvious at this point, sorry for pointing it out )

I'm having no problems so far with scouting turned on - it previously crashed a lot until I altered the facegen settings as mentioned earlier in this thread. Hope this is some help!

I'm not sure about scouting, but about two pages ago Cubby said that he would sim the file forward to the start of spring training, turn waivers on and release it that way for the next release. He thinks this will correct the problems with waivers.

How do you really evaluate talent without the scouts?

please correct me if I am wrong - but without scouts the "stars" (ratings) are useless? I desire to play with stars on...someone please advise. When I turn scouts everyone has one star.

Jordan is correct; with scouts off, you see the true ratings. You can use stars.

Maybe setting this file to blank (ie, a five byte file consisting of 00 00 00 00 00) may reforce scouting and get it to work. Of course, I could be totally wrong and this file could be fine in 2.5.

I apologize for being ignorant but can someone tell me or point me to where the discussion is about the use of waivers.
Thanks very much. The set is great. |

I fixed the scouting.dat file to be empty (structually empty as opposed to just empty) and I'm autoplaying through the season with scouts on, waivers on, AI roster moves on and I don't seem to be hitting any problems yet.
(apart from the Red Sox getting rid of Okajima and getting Kenny Rogers in as a pitcher - I know it's the Tiger's one, not the singer!)

I did a SISA Rescout during the season and that didn't cause any problems on going through a month end.
I'll send the blank scouting.dat file to CubbyFan and hopefully he can put it into the latest release (after running a SISA Rescout on the first day)

Im still confused. I do like the idea of scouts, it adds an extra bit of immersion to the game.
However, if I turn my scouts off and I wondering about the "stars." Currently everyone in the game is one star (Overall/Potential). How does that change? Thanks, Carp |

Sorry I have been away for a couple days (too busy playing with the game finally thanks to the hard work!!!!) and trying to catch up here.... I turned scouts on from the start and I have played around with some different things but just started a season and I have went through Spring Training and about the first two weeks of the season without any issues at all (again with scouts on). Seems this is not the case for many. Am I missing something here or am I in the minority?

Cubby,
I've also removed the 18 leagues that seem to be inactive in the file - but there does appear to be around 1300 teams that aren't active which I still can't work out how to get rid of without crashing the game.

I was going to start importing the 'accomplishments' into the game, but due to a bug in the game, that screen lists the team's current name, not the name they had in the year the accomplishment happened.
So Cy Young's perfect game in 1904 is showing up in the game as being in a match between Boston and Oakland I've raised it in Support, so it'll probably be acknowledged/fixed in time for the 105th anniversary of Cy's game! It'll probably not get ticketed because I programmed the accomplishment into the database.

The link to this roster now reads v3.0, but I haven't seen any updated notes in the first post... Is the filename incorrect or have we indeed moved on to 3.0? I'll be posting this file to my site today either way, just curious!
