If you want accuracy, hit up eriqjaffe or silvam/adion's thread.
The problem? I need alot of those stadiums in their correct form. I've already gotten alot from eriq and silva. They do great work.

Way to crap all over his work. Dude probably spent hundreds of hours making the ballparks and all you have to say is too bad they’re not accurate. You, sir have just defined the term ungrateful d-bag. You could have just gone to Silvam’s thread without taking a dump on nielsoncp.

Agreed. Nielson does a great job, his parks are not exact replicas, they are his versions. They are great for fictional leagues.

There are a lot better ways to entice someone to help you than denigrating their hard work and great results.

May I offer you this as a suggestion?

Neilson does tremendous work as well. He was the one who took the time to Zoom with me and walk me through the many steps to actually create stadiums from scratch.

It's bull**** comments like yours that frustrate modders and leave us wondering why we put the time and effort into creating free stuff for people to use and this is what we get in return.

PS- Don't confuse need with want.

Obviously alot of people, myself included, want stadiums in their real-life form, but alot of those concept parks (and there are a ton of them) definitely fill in alot of the gaps in my leagues, whether they are true to real life or not. I have messed around with trying to convert 3D Warehouse Models into usable form and also using my sketchup trial to build something from scratch and BOTH ARE SUPER DIFFICULT. Thanks goes out to all those stadium builders out there.

Well' it's been a while since I've been to this thread, I wonder how things are go...

ing.

First off, I wanted to say quickly that I reached out to SDW directly. I think beyond this point we can close off the discussion about the creative license I've taken with the stadiums. I also want to say a quick thanks to all of you who chimed in and shared about your experiences with the stadiums (Nutt, Lucas, Legends, Ty, Isedeloyd, and ALP) - I'm glad that my stadiums have brought a bit more joy to the game for you.

Second, as you've probably noticed, I am on a bit of a stadium building hiatus at the moment - with good reason. In February my wife and I welcomed our first child into our family. We've loved getting to see them grow and change, and, as you can imagine, that slightly reduces stadium building time. So, for the foreseeable future, I probably won't be posting anything new in here. However, I would love to help and provide tech support for any of you all who want to try your hand at stadium making. It is pretty complex at first, but once you get into it it's pretty addictive - almost moreso than the game itself. Please feel free to reach out in DM if you have any questions or want tips about how to create these stadiums. Thanks all!

Thanks for reaching out. I'll respond to ya there. Unlike the Twitter attack mob I got here. FYI to the others, I can complain if I want.

Congratulations!

May you enjoy your hiatus supremely. May your young 'un be healthy and happy and bring you endless joy. I'll wait with great anticipation for your next creation and be eternally grateful for the additions to the game you've given us all.

Yes, you can complain if you want, but others can respond to them as they want as well. If you're going to be a jerk over something that is offered for free and on their own time, then expect to be treated like one in return.

That folder looks like the one that comes with OOTP. I don't think that existed when nielson did his.

It's awkward shape was due to five house that wouldn't sell to the team, but I figured those people would... eventually give in. The actual park (in this world) is still surrounded by the university and the neighborhood, with a commercial stretch to the east.

Griffith Stadium was built right next to Howard University and was also the one time home of the Homestead Grays, including Negro World Series titles in 1943 and 1944, so I decided to rebrand it in honor of Josh Gibson and use SFGiants58's Washington Grays uniforms.

Since it was a Negro League stadium, I also decided to add a hall of monuments (a la Yankee Stadium) dedicated to the Negro Leagues in center. It has statues for Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, Willie Mays, and Hank Aaron, and the plaques for all forty Hall of Famers that played in the Negro Leagues. The batters eye also has the crest from the logo.

In right I decided to keep the Green Monsteresque high wall and add the seats atop the wall. In left I built a staggered bullpen, as well as adding a set of luxury boxes in the corner.

A final, smaller addition was in the upper deck, where I added steps around the tunnels. It was fun to figure out how to do it, and I think they added a bit to the stadium.

The high walls and deep field mean the park plays pretty hitter friendly, but is a killer on power numbers (as so many of these jewel box stadiums were.)

And that's it for this series for now! Thanks everyone who followed along and liked these stadiums - it was a lot of fun to dig into the history of baseball and imagine what these stadiums could look like if they had been maintained for the past century. I hope you enjoy
Suuuuuper late to the party here, but I grabbed the grays uni set from here on the forum and was using an RFK model, but this, IS AWESOME! thank you so much, I'm gonna be spending the rest of the night in this thread pulling models. thank you again!

Amazing

[QUOTE=nielsoncp;4690427]Yeah, I think part of the beauty of the older parks was how they fit into neighborhoods they were a part of. It's fun to build them out so it feels more like the actual stadium, but they can take a lot of time to create. So it's definitely a cost benefit analysis - and this one may have had too much of a cost. Welcome to Shibe Park.

As someone who fondly (except for parking, bathrooms, girders blocking line of sight, and many sad seasons) recalls Shibe Park, or Connie Mack Stadium as it was known to me, your imaginative re-creation is like a dream come true. The Phils managed to capture some of the magic in designing CBP (none in the Vet); but I wish they could have done this at the original location. Your Baker Bowl creation is equally impressive; although I can't claim to have gone there.

Is there any way to remove the Dodgers "B" from behind home plate in the Ebbets Field model? I've tried a few different ways with no luck. I'm using the Ebbets Field model for a Brooklyn team that is not the Dodgers.

Thanks!

Hi jdante - you should be able to switch it out if you replace the fieldlogo.png file. If you replace it with a blank .png file it should just show the grass below, or if you want to put your team’s logo you can put it in that file.
