Defensive prowess aside, Kinsler is one of 12 infielders of all time with at least 1500 hits, 1000 runs, 200 homers and 200 steals. Of the other 11, 8 are hall of famers and the other 3 are A-Rod, Derek Jeter, and Jimmy Rollins. Pretty darn good company.

Didn't know that about him. He's not only sneaky good, he's sneaky great.

Perhaps it's like the game it celebrates in that way. (Both OOTP and baseball)

Good MLB Network analyst too. Ah yes, those reams of stats that we all kept track of for our baseball board games. Nerds!

Oops. Chase Utley too. He came in in 2003. Cano arrived in 2005, and Pedroia and Kinsler arrived in 2006. Now that right there is a bumper crop.

EDIT: You've actually got two number 15s in that shot with Darrell Porter behind the plate.

Carlos Beltran. I had a signed bat he wrote his ROY numbers on, etc. and it got stolen when someone threw a bowling ball sized rock through my office window and took it, among other things:

I know that (I've had every version, since original and we switched to I think 2 or 3 from FPS 98 in our league). I mean this countdown thread itself is the best countdown on I remember because of the talk between and about baseball. ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️ ☮️♥️♥️☮️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️

I'm beat so I'm starting #14 a little bit early. He was only here for about threeish months in 2015, but whoa my what an impact! The rest of the #14s are somewhat nondescript (Rickey Henderson notwithstanding, but he eventually got his familiar #24). He almost snagged the AL Cy Young in 2015, but Keuchel was better. David Price #14

People say he doesn't belong in the hall of fame, but he was a huge part of my baseball watching youth. Will never forget him saving that kid who got hit with a foul ball.

Well, since Jim Rice was already posted (which is fine, because there cannot be enough Red Sox love in this world!), and I think I've done enough double posts recently, and Rice had the number 14 retired for the Sox, giving very little options there, it's a perfect opportunity to outsource with one of my favorites. He's best known for his time with the Oakland Athletics - specifically, his legendary 1971 season in which he won both Cy Young and MVP honors. He continued to pitch well for a long time, but never quite reached those heights again. Still, a wonderful career. #14 Vida Blue

Magic number is 14. Just a scant two weeks away!

Few played the game with the kind of fire and passion Sweet Lou Pinella did. He was constantly working on his batting stance and would chew anyone’s ear off who would listen about hitting for hours at a time. As both a player and manager, Pinella was a driven man.
