Week 8
2029 SEASON WEEK 8
RECORD: 4-2 OVERALL: 38-14 +17.5 (Arizona 20-31) RUNS FOR: 277 (31) 5th RUNS AGAINST: 168 (24) 1st OWNER/FANS: Ecstatic 73/100 SCHEDULE: 2 @ Providence/Off Day/3 @ Brooklyn/1 vs Buffalo 5/21 PROV 4 ALK 3 W-Rincon (2-0) L-Casas (1-1) HR NONE A 9th inning Jorge Viera error led to 3 unearned runs and Cisco Casas' 1st blown save. Drake went 7-7-1-1-2-6 and was in line for the win. Frank Morgan was 3-5 with a double (3) and 2 RBI's (6). Joao Carnaxide went down in the 2nd after being hit by a pitch and word is back. He has a broken hand and will be out 4-5 weeks. I've extended an offer to 30 year old Alfredo Ynequez, a free agent with just over 4 years of experience. A .261 hitter who can play very good defense. 5/22 PROV 12 ALK 4 W-Herrera (4-2) L-Hernandez (4-2) HR PROV-Pak GS (7) Frank Morgan went 3-4 with a double (4) triple (1) and 3 runs scored and Jorge Becerra was 3-5 with 3 RBI's (35). Jung-Jun Pak hit a 1st inning grand slam in a 2-5 6 RBI (23) day. Carlos Hernandez was bombed in 3.2 innings. GREAT GAMES-Luis Guzman (CC) tossed a 1-hitter in a 4-0 win over Philadelphia. Facing just 28 batters while fanning 8. He's 5-2 3.86 in 8 starts. 5/23 Off Day 5/24 ALK 3 BRO 1 W-Bowman (7-2) L-Jones (5-5) S-Casas (15) HR BRO-Gil (7) Mike Bowman went 7.2-4-1-1-0-7 and Richard Morton drove in 2 (15) with a 2nd inning bases loaded double. 25 year old Aaron Jones went 8-7-3-0-4-7 in taking the loss to fall to 5-5 3.96. 5/25 ALK 3 BRO 2 W-R.Johnson (8-1) L-Gonzalez (0-3) S-Casas (16) HR ALK-Hawkins (6) BRO-Debesa (10) Alfredo Ynequez pinch hit single, in his first Avalanche AB, plated the game winning run and made RJ (8-5-2-2-4-8) an 8 game winner. Lowell Cook went 3-4 with a double (7) and Jorge Viera was 1-1 with a double (12) and 3 walks. Jeff Watson went 8-7-1-1-2-2 and was in line for the win before closer Tomas Gonzalez blew his 3rd save of the year. INJURY NEWS-The El Paso Diablos, trailing Houston by 4.5 and just ½ game out of the wild card have lost star OF'er Stan Park for the next 4-5 months with muscle tear in his back. Coming off back to back 200+ hit season Park was hitting .301-1-14 on the year. 5/26 ALK 8 BRO 1 W-Hansen (2-1) L-Otani (3-7) HR ALK-Hawkins 2 (8) Harrell (4) Hopefully not a devastatingly costly win. Stan Hall started, and came out after throwing a pitch in the 2nd inning, grabbing the elbow. No word yet. Keith Hansen tossed 4 perfect innings, striking out 5, in relief. Richard Morton led off, going 1-2 with 3 walks 3 RBI's (18) and Bob Harrell was 3-4 with a double (13) homer and an RBI (16). Anthony Hawkins homered twice and scored 3 times and drove in 2 (30). GREAT GAMES-Greg Dickson (CHI) threw a 1-hitter in a 2-0 win over Providence, moving to 5-1 3.76 in 11 starts. 5/27 ALK 10 BUF 4 W-Drake (6-2) L-Baker (7-4) S-P.Gonzalez (2) HR BUF-Gill (9) ALK-Martin GS (10) Cook 2 (11) The offense scored 10 times on 8 hits and 10 Buffalo walks. Cole Martin was 2-5 with a double (11) and a grand slam, and drove in a career high 7 runs (32). Lowell Cook homered twice, driving in 3 (33) and scoring 3 times. Drake went 6-7-3-3-1-8 to move to 6-2 2.84. INJURY NEWS-I can exhale. Apparently Hall tweaked his back a bit, and is going to be DtD for a few. He's not expected to miss a start. CONTRACT NEWS-West Michigan resigned OF Harley Warren to a 3 year 19.5M dollar extension today. Harley is a 2 time gold glove winner ('25 and '27) in center field, a one time all star and a career .261/.321/.484 hitter with 162 homers and 569 RBI's in 801 career games between Houston and West Michigan. 2029 SEASON WEEK 8 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK FL POTW-Ricardo Martinez (COL) 13-28 4 HR's 12 RBI's (.311-4-18) CL POTW-Peter McCarthy (PHI) 8-12 2 HR's 6 RBI's (.345-2-13) IBL SINGLE SEASON RECORD: BATTING AVERAGE .4152 Louie Ginger (WMI) '28 .4018 Louie Ginger (WMI) '25 .3992 Asiman Swagat (CHI) '25 .3928 Asiman Swagat (CHI) '26 .3837 Ramon Castro (CHI) '26 POWER RANKINGS 1) West Michigan (2) 2) Alaska (1) 3) Chicago (3) 4) Houston (-) 5) Dallas (4) OUT New Hampshire (6) NEWS/NOTES Dallas makes a move to strengthen their pen acquiring Bonnet from Boston, while the Bombers get 2 good young SP prospects and a low risk high reward corner bat in Barclay. The “win the championship” approach this year was the clear driver in this trade as Texan closer Kevin Sharp has 13 saves and a 1.40 ERA, but Bonnet becomes the only lefty in their pen. Both Kaiser and Lewis were 5th round picks and Barclay was signed out of Australia.

A look around the minors
A LOOK AROUND THE MINORS
A new rookie league has begun this season and Alaska will field a team in Westbrook. AAA EAGAN Off to a great start. Shimizu struggled early on but has regained his footing. David Rodgers and Paul Williams, as well as Rich Jordan are all knocking on the door. John Kelley was the AAA POTW, but is on the DL now and Tony Deleon is having a great season. Raul Aguilar is coming along a bit slower than hoped, but Paul Barkman and Paco Martinez are having good years. Our scouts don't see it, but Chris Craig just keeps hitting. He can't play IBL defense as a catcher but hopefully someone thinks highly enough of him to potentially move him if I can. CF Don Roy is much the same, nice bat but marginal glove. Rodriguez is having another very good season, and top pick Leon Whaley is getting his feet wet as the youngest reliever in AAA. AA KODIAK Bouncing back after a slow start, SP prospects Elijah Potts and Lloyd Cole have just been promoted and made their first AA starts. Miller is ranked as a prospect but I think the value is more outside the organization. He is a marginal defensive player in RF, but with a monster power bat (18/19 gap/power potential) but scouts worry he won't hit for enough average to offset the poor defense. He's just 22, so there's time. A SPOKANE Off to a good start. Everett Gray was struggling in AA, and sent down, punching out 14 in his first start. Ramon Velazquez if having a very good year, as is top prospect Gabriel Guerra. A YAKIMA A team struggling to pitch. 2028 top pick Brady Davis has had a yo-yo first two months, but is beginning to throw the ball much better. 20 year old Manny Barrera is starting to open some eyes.

MAY comes to a close...
Two in a row for Morgan. Good month for LA all around.
Looks like West Michigan will give us a run for the top seed, likely the Iron Pigs aren't going away neither. The Empire is once again a sub .500 division in the 1st half.

2029 Draft
It's two weeks away. An enormous amount of pitching, again it seems. Thies is a legit two way talent, and I would imagine a top 5 pick. Given where I feel the system is this will likely be a best available draft for us, talent wise.

When you originally started the league, how did you get every player to start out making the minimum? And what type of financial setup did you use in the beginning?
Reading this has made me want to try my own fictional league after 10+ years of playing OOTP dynasties with real rosters. |

WEEK 10 and the injury bug doesn't bit, it destroys!
2029 SEASON WEEK 10
RECORD: 6-1 OVERALL: 49-16 +22 (Hawaii 27-38) RUNS FOR: 355 (42) 4th RUNS AGAINST: 209 (26) 1st OWNER/FANS: Ecstatic 73/100 SCHEDULE: 3 @ Arizona/3 vs San Jose/1 vs Sacramento 6/4 ALK 7 AZ 4 W-Bowman (9-2) L-Notenboom (6-2) S-Casas (19) HR NONE Arizona got to Mike Bowman (7-7-4-4-2-10) for 4 in the 2nd but he held the fort for the offense to claw back on 12 hits and 7 Rattler walks. Jorge Viera was 3-6 with 2 doubles (18) 2 stolen bases (20) and Bob Brady was 2-5 with a double (10) triple (6) and 2 RBI's (45). 6/5 ALK 9 AZ 7 W-R.Johnson (10-1) L-Alberigo (1-4) S-Casas (20) HR ALK-Stover (6) AZ-Jones (7) How about this. After 6 RJ's line was 6-0-1-1-4-8! His end game? 6-2-5-5-6-8. He imploded in the 7th of what was a another dominant start. 15 hits made possible by 6 players with 2 or more and every stareter had at least 1. Viera (18) Martin (39) Brady (47) and Stover (24) all had 2 RBI's, Viera doubling (19) and stealing his 21st. 6/6 ALK 11 AZ 1 W-Hall (9-0) L-F.Martinez (3-6) HR ALK-Viera (3) Stover 2 (8) AZ-Craig (5) Hall continues his monster year. Giving up 2 hits over 7, striking out 8 with 2 walks. Jorge Viera goes 2-4 with a single, homer and a stolen base (22) and drives in 2 (20). Bob Harrell doubled (16) in a 2-4 2 RBI (24) day. INJURY NEWS-Tulsa closer Andrew Tuttle will miss the remainder of the year after an MRI revealed bone chips. The 36 year old was 1-1 with 14 saves and a 2.57 ERA in 25 games. He's coming off a 34 Save 3.00 ERA year in 2028, and is in the 1st year of a 3 year 6.2M dollar free agent deal. 40 year old Amando Pratas will take the role in the near term, with the club looking hard at outside solutions. In what could be coincidental news, or not, Jose Castro, coming off a 37 save season in 2028 for Columbus, is rumored to be wanting out of Dayton..... 6/7 ALK 3 SJ 2 W-Drake (8-2) L-Toner (7-2) S-Casas (21) HR SJ-Welch (22) ALK-Garcia (1) Stover (9) Keith Hansen and Cisco Casas combined on 3.2 scoreless innings, punching out 7 in relief of Drake (5.1-7-2-1-2-5 on 103 pitches). James Welch homered in a 4-5 day. 6/8 ALK 6 SJ 3 W-Hernandez (6-3) L-Chiostro (1-9) S-Craxi (1) HR ALK-Harrell (7) Carlos Hernandez continued his up and down season going 7.1-7-1-1-0-7 on 92 pitches. It was his first walkless start of the season. It was actually the first time he'd walked less than 2 in a game all year. Jorge Viera doubled (21) in the game winner (21) in the 6th and stole his league leading 23rd base. GOOD GAMES-Paul Green (SA) tossed a 2-hitter in a 3-0 win over West Michigan. Green moved to 3-5 4.67 in 13 starts. Rob Bright (CHI) tossed a 3-hitter in a 5-0 win over Corpus Christi. Bright struck out 12 and walked 1 in winning his 9th game of the year. He's 9-3 2.75 in 13 starts. INJURY NEWS-Louis Ginger (WMI) will miss the next 4-5 weeks after fracturing his cheeckbone. The 25 year old was hitting .336-0-23 on the year. Earl Shaw (CC) will miss the next 6 weeks after straining a quad. He was hitting .283-15-36 on the year. CONTRACT NEWS-3B Mark Warren (EP) signed a 4 year 46M dollar contract extension today. Warren is currently hitting .355-2-23 in 44 games after hitting .322/.357/.503 in 112 games last season. The Warriors have announced the signing of 29 year old OF Nolan Schultz to a 1 year 2.32M dollar deal. The left fielder hit .259-41-109 last year but was having issues finding a job before lowering his price tag. 6/9 SJ 10 ALK 4 W-Leese (1-2) L-Bowman (9-3) HR SJ-Nicholson (3) Jaquias (7) The box will show Mike Bowman (6.2-9-5-5-0-12) with the loss but this was all on the pen. He gave up 3 in the 3rd and pretty much held it down. Pedro Gonzalez game in and gave up 4 runs without recoring and out. Gustavo Jaquias was 4-4 with a double (14) homer, scored 3 and drove in 2 (28) and Nikolee Nesimi was 3-5 with 2 RBI's (40). GREAT GAMES-Ricciardo Vasario (DAL) went 3-5 with 6 RBI's as he slammed 3 homers in an 11-6 win over New Hampshire. He's hitting .271-8-35 on the year. 6/10 ALK 6 SAC 1 W-R.Johnson (11-1) L-A.Esparza (8-5) HR SAC-Contrera (3) ALK-Hawkins (10) Cabrera (5) Could be the costliest win of the year. RJ goes 7-4-1-1-1-10 and complains of some soreness in the shoulder. After the game the team doctor lets us know he's going to need arthroscopic shoulder surgery and could be down 5-6 months. Basically done for the year. 11-1 3.74 with 89 IP 50 H 111 K's and 44 walks. Huge blow. 26 year old David Rodgers will get the call. I've made an offer to 36 year old Matt Freestone in the meantime, to fill the gap in AAA. 2029 SEASON WEEK 10 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK FL POTW-David Walker (GB) 12-26 6 HR's 12 RBI's (.279-17-39) CL POTW-Ben Beard (PIT) 19-36 2 HR's 7 RBI's (.330-4-19) POWER RANKINGS 1) Alaska (1) 2) West Michigan (2) 3) Chicago (4) 4) New Hampshire (3) 5) Los Angeles (-) OUT Houston (10) NEWS/NOTES Columbus and Baltimore make a move and both get better. Reyes will help a pen that's a bit thin (and 10th overall) and Madrigal is a nice young OF prospect but Columbus gets a VERY good player in Treffen. A 1B/LF who was twice a 2028 Rookie of the Month. Drafted by Dayton (out of Ohio State) in the Supplemental round of the 2025 draft (30th overall). And in other injury news the Black Sox suffer a huge blow, losing Cano for what will likely be the rest of the year.

2029 first year player draft
2029 FIRST YEAR PLAYER DRAFT
I will follow the top 10 rated players, until they are all picked. I am drafting 8th overall, with a compensation pick as well. So I have picks 8, 41, 54, 94, 126 and 137 of the first 139 picks (5 rounds). I’ll look to the best available talent, as I have money to spend and can afford a high bonus kid in the later rounds. Number in brackets at the end of the pick is the ranked position of the prospect by the OSA scouting department. Attachment 298684 1) Boston Bombers-Joe Thies (18) R/R 6’2” 180 lbs OF/P Acalanes HS, CA-No one has any idea which way he’s going. The ultimate 2 way player who can be an ace or a middle to the order franchise bat. (10) 2) Tulsa Drillers-William Smith (21) R/R 6’ 190 SP Arkansas-Pine Bluff U-Big time arm. Low to mid 90’s with body to eat huge innings. Issue for our guys was the fact his teammates can’t stand him. Not a small thing. (3) 3) Staten Island Yankees-Luis Martinez (21) R/R 6’ 190 SP U. of Texas-Monster arm. Touches triple digits often with a 5 pitch mix. Has an awesome personality but many question his poor work ethic as a reason he should have dropped. (7) 4) Hawaii Warriors-Al Harden (21) R/R 6’3” 195 OF U. of Mississippi-Leadoff speed and a gold glove center fielder. Defensively could start today, bat has a ways to go. 5) Arizona Rattlers-Flint Brown (20) L/R 6’ 200 C Southern U, Baton Rouge, LA-OSA had him as the #1 overall prospect. Big power, leader on and off the field. (1) 6) Brooklyn Cyclones-Xavier Green (21) R/R 6’ 190 SP U of Michigan-One of 4 Wolverine pitchers rated as a 1st round talent. Mid to upper 90’s fastball, great 3 pitch mix, could likely go straight to AA. Many had him as the #1 arm on the board. (2) 7) Green Bay Blizzard-Herman O’Dell (22) S/R 6’ 195 SP Southern Mississippi-As durable as they come, mixing 6 legitimate pitches with his 93 to 95. Smart kid. (4) 8) Alaska Avalanche-James Martin (21) R/R 6’3” 190 IF U. of Illinois (5) THOUGHTS-Our guys think Jason Martin is the pick. He’s a 6’3” 190 pound infielder, playing 2B, SS and 3B as well as a good LF and serviceable CF. Decent speed (13) but a very good bat with a fantastic eye everyone believes will only get better (15). Outstanding IF range, and a cannon to go with it. Played every inning of every game in his college career, scouts love his durability. Issues? He’s complacent, and his work ethic concerns some. He’s asking 4.2, which is 2.4 over slot. We certainly have it to spend. The other guys at the top of our board are both relievers, and it’s far too early to grab a bullpen arm. Angel Gonzalez is a SP ranked high, but his health is a concern. 9) Sacramento Express-Hanley Ramirez (18) R/R 6’2” 225 IF Florida International-toolsy guy with big speed big range and a big arm. Potential 25 homer guy who can play SS but might end up at 3B. Late entry into the draft pool from the MLB group. 10) Tulsa Drillers (2)-Martin Perez (21) R/R 6’1” 185 OF St. Vincent College, PA-Off the charts runner and defender in CF/LF. Projects as a leadoff guy, good gap power, good eye. No pop and k’s a bit much for many scouts. A nice set of picks for the Drillers, 2 top 10 prospects with 2 top 10 picks. (9) 11) San Antonio Silver Stars-Matt Holliday (19) R/R 6’4” 250 OF U of Illinois-Monster kid, monster bat. Runs extremely well for a kid his size. MLB prospect late to the draft. 12) Corpus Christi Hooks-Aubrey Browning (17) S/R 6’ 170 IF Crestview HS, Ashland, OH-A consensus top 10. Big speed, bat projects as a 2-3 hitter, no pop. Outstanding strike zone awareness and a hard worker who’s supposedly a great teammate. (8) 13) Columbus Clippers-Nathan Neal (19) R/R 5’11” 175 SP Aquinas HS, Overland Park, KS-Big arm on a smaller frame. 93-95 and a smart ass too boot. Had issues with teammates but it wasn’t when he had the ball in his hand. OSA’s 6th overall prospect and Columbus is ecstatic that he was still here. (6) That’s the top 10 prospects. I am after Cody Sykes (SP out of Dallas Baptist, HUGE righty. He’s 6’7”, upper 90’s) or a little righty named Melvin Barnes out of San Diego State. A polished 89-90 kid with sniper control. Durable as hell and an innings eater. 1st Round Supplemental 12th pick. 41st overall-Cody Sykes (20) R/R 6’7” 215 SP Dallas Baptist THOUGHTS-Sykes is here, and I am taking him. But there is a kid, 18 year old out of Canada, Christophe Barreau, whom I have on my radar. 20s across the board on speed, a RHH who scouts believe could bunt every AB and hit .320. Great eye, makes contact and is a supreme defender across the outfield. We are taking Sykes and hoping that Barreau can make it 13 more picks! And I’ll be damned if Chicago doesn’t snatch Barreau with the very next pick. Crap. I’ll stalk that one, see if I can’t swing a trade down the line The top 5 on our board now are all college closers. Huge arms, all upper 90’s. Top hitter we have on the board is CF Kenny Hammond out of St Johns. And ****, Chicago takes Hammond with their next supplemental pick…. 2nd Round 54th overall pick-Roy Seaman (21) R/R SP-U of Toronto 3rd Round-Milton Sweeney (18) L/L OF/1B 21 Century Academy, Chattanooga, TN 4th Round-Roger Sepkiechler (18) R/R IF Robinson HS, Concord, NC 4th Round-Jeff Jackson (18) S/R 1B Weatherford HS, TX 5th Round-Michael O’Neal (21) L/L OF/1B U of Mississippi 6-Mike Bowman (18) 1B L/L Somerville HS, NJ 8-Claude Curlee (20) OF L/L Washington State 9-Paul Brown (20) R/R SP Ohio State 10-Paul Hensley (18) R/R SS Breaux Bridge HS, LA 11-Ralph Kelley (18) R/R SP Madison HS, OR 12-Jesse Marshall (23) R/R C LSU 13-Reid Henry (21) R/R 1B U of San Diego 14-Wayne Wade (18) R/R SS Bellport HS, NY 15-Thomas Ward (21) R/R SP Alabama A&M 16-Jeff Gilligan (20) R/R SS Seminole CC 17-Dan Reynolds (22) R/R SP Nova Southeastern HS, FL 18-Troy Walker (19) R/R SS Cross HS, CT 19-Thatcher Johnson (18) R/R SS West Point HS, MS 20-Harvey King (18) S/R C Maumee HS, OH 21-Edward Saunders (19) L/L SP Northern Valley Regional HS, NJ 22-Harry Phillips (19) R/R C Owensboro Catholic HS, KY 23-Erik Bradford (18) L/L 1B Abbeville Christian Academy, AL 24-Tony Clark (18) R/R OF Largo HS, MD 25-Tim Jones (20) S/R SP U of Arizona 26-Fred Houghton (22) L/L OF Long Beach State 27-Edgar Cisneros (17) R/R SP Shorecrest HS, WA 28-Craig Pittman (20) R/R SP Le Moyne U. 29-Eric Green (18) R/R SP Oak Grove HS, MO 30-Kelly Hayes (18) S/R SP Segerstrom HS, CA

WEEK 11 and a legend hits a milestone...
2029 SEASON WEEK 11

Harrell (26) Stover (31) and Holland (23) drive in runs, Viera goes 2-4 and steals his 26th base. 6/12 ALK 17 SAC 1 W-Drake (9-2) L-Ross (5-5) HR ALK-Brady (5) Martin (12) Where to start? Cabrera led off, going 4-5 with a double (10) and scored 3 times, Viera was 4-6 with 2 doubles (23) scoring 4 times and driving in 4 (26). Martin homered and drove in 4 (44) in a 2-5 day. Hawkins was 3-6 and drove in 2 (37). Harrell was 3-6 with 2 doubles (20) and 3 RBI's (29). Brady was 4-5 with a homer and 4 RBI's (54). John Drake cruised through a 6-5-1-1-0-8 outing to move to 9-2 2.47 on the year. The offense tallied a season high 26 hits. EDMONTON FIRES MGR, GM, IN HOUSE CLEANING. Manny Marquez was hired to replace Walton, and he comes in having no front office experience. And in a move that stunned most everyone, former Bison scouting director Carlos Torres was hired to be the new manager. GREAT GAMES-To 'celebrate' the news, Edmonton Ace Mike Lewis tosses a 4-hitter in a 4-0 win over San Jose. Lewis, the 2028 Koufax winner, is now 3-8 4.80 in 15 starts for an Edmonton team that is 21-47 and 30.5 games behind us in the standings. 6/13 OFF DAY 6/14 COL 9 ALK 4 W-Howard (3-7) L-Hernandez (6-4) HR COL-Tanner (10) Treffen (12) Hernandez struggled again, giving up 5 on 8 hits and 4 walks in 5.1 innings. Dave Treffen went 3-4 with a homer and 4 RBI's (42). Bob Harrell strained an ab in the 3rd and had to come out. Turns out to be serious, enough that he'll likely miss 4-5 weeks. Cole Martin and a few others will swap around the 1B job and Pedro Rivera will be recalled off his rehab. GREAT GAMES-Andy Morgan (LA) moved to 13-0 2.16 with a 4-hitter in a 2-0 win over El Paso. MILESTONES He has always found a way to do things with a flare, today was no different. There are times this game makes you believe it HAS to be scripted, stuff like this. For you veteran readers, you may remember Luis, in the game he hit his 300th homer, hit 3! Today, 9 RBI's and his 500th is a grand slam.... Just awesome. 500 Homer runs, by age Luis Chavez 6/15/29 (34 years 207 days) 4-5 9 RBI's HR off Luis Marquez (EDM) Curt Whimster 5/14/26 (38 years 357 days) 1st member 6/15 DRAFT COL 3 ALK 1 W-Arevalo (5-8) L-M.Gonzalez (0-5) HR COL-Lynch WO (7) Matt Lynch hit a 2 out walk off 2 run homer in the bottom of the 9th off Mario Gonzalez. Matt Bowman battled his butt off, going 7-3-1-1-6-10 on 120 pitches before running out of gas. Jeffrey Graves went 8.2-7-1-1-1-8 in a ND. Jorge Viera stole 3 bases (29). DRAFT NEWS-3rd rounder Milton Sweeney (1B/OF) and 4th rounder Jeff Jackson (1B) came to terms today. They'll both head to rookie ball. 6/16 ALK 7 COL 3 W-Rodgers (1-0) L-Baca (9-4) HR ALK-Viera (4) David Rodgers goes 6.1-7-3-3-3-3 to win his 1st 2029 start. He took a shutout into the 6th. Bob Brady leads a 13 hit attack going 3-5 with 2 RBI's (56) and Christian Holland is 2-5 with a double (15) and 2 RBI's (25). 6/17 OFF DAY 5th rounder Michael O'Neal signed today. He's an interesting one. Blazing speed, can bunt as well as anyone for a hit, with monster pop too. Plays across the OF and 1B. 2029 SEASON WEEK 11 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK FL POTW-Ricardo Flores (MICH) 9-22 5 HR's 9 RBI's (.309-14-53) CL POTW-Pedro Lopez (HOU) 13-25 2 HR's 6 RBI's (.302-10-56) IBL SINGLE SEASON RECORD: WINS 25 Angelo Esparza (SAC) '22 25 Angelo Esparza (SAC) '21 24 Andy Morgan (LA) '25 24 Vince Bray '15 23 Maurice Paterson (EP) '22 POWER RANKINGS 1) Alaska (1) 2) Chicago (3) 3) West Michigan (2) 4) New Hampshire (4) 5) Los Angeles (5) NEWS/NOTES Dallas grabs a catcher to hit LHP in Jones, giving up some decent arms. Michigan is 33-38, 18 GB, but just a half game off the wild card. Sandoval moves in to play 3rd, and is having a great season. But the price was steep, two very good young arms. Crawford was the Wolverines 3rd rounder last year.

2029 SEASON WEEK 12, have a year Stan.
2029 SEASON WEEK 12
RECORD: 4-3 OVERALL: 56-21 +26 (Hawaii 30-47) RUNS FOR: 429 (42) 5th RUNS AGAINST: 254 (29) 1st OWNER/FANS: Ecstatic 76/100 SCHEDULE: 3 vs Chicago/3 vs Michigan/1 @ Hawaii 6/18 ALK 10 CHI 1 W-Hall (11-0) L-Bright (10-4) HR ALK-Hawkins (11) Covington (3) Stan Hall enters the 9th inning having allowed just 1 walk on the day, with 9 punchouts...... He finished the day 9-2-1-1-2-10 on 118 pitches. I started thinking it was a possibility after the 4th for some reason. I thought he was going to do it after the 7th. Anthony Hawkins was 3-4 with a triple (2) homer and 3 RBI' s (42) and Jorge Viera was 2-5 with a double (24) 3 RBI's (31) and 2 more stolen bases (31). DRAFT NEWS-4th round pick Roger Sepkiechler has signed his offer sheet. The 18 year old IF/OF will report to Rookie league Westbrook. 6/19 CHI 4 ALK 3 W-Davenport (7-4) L-Drake (9-3) S-McBrieve (9) HR ALK-Stover (11) The pen relieved Drake in the 5th (he went 4.1-10-4-4-2-1 but left with 2 on, Hansen gave them up). Gerald Davenport went 7.2-6-3-3-3-4. Claas van der Ham was 3-5 with an RBI (43). Jorge Viera was 2-4 with 2 more stolen bases (33). Luke Stover drove in 2 (33) with his 11th homer. DRAFT NEWS-Supplemental pick Cody Sykes signed his contract today and has reported to Rookie League Westbrook. He will get the ball tomorrow. 2nd rounder Roy Seaman did the same. He will be given a shot at short season Juneau. Check this out...Starters in Westbrook this year. Marquez is the runt of this litter. Duarte is a FA find from the Dominican, 87-89 6 pitch lefty with potential, Sykes was taken by Buffalo in the 5th round last year, unsigned he returned to the draft this year where I took him 41st overall, he's 96-98 with a developing change-up and a new split as his other pitches. Burke was a 3rd rounder in '27 who sits 95-97 with 4 pitches. 6/20 CHI 12 ALK 8 (16) W-Jenkins (1-0) L-Casas (1-2) HR ALK-Cook (12) Martin (13) I hit auto sim on this one, by accident... 16 frigging innings and every pitcher was used. Casas went 3.2 and ran out of gas. Moving his ERA up a full run (1.04 to 2.12). Hernandez lasted just 3.1 and the pen had to go 12.2 innings. Their line was 12.2-16-8-8-6-8. Casas threw 75 pitches! It was a 6-0 game before we scored 4 in the 7th, 1 in the 8th and 9th. Both teams scored 2 in the 13th, with Cole Martin hitting a homer to tie it. Cook drove in 4 (38) and Cabrera was 4-5 with 2 doubles. Luis Chavez however, was 5-8 with 3 RBI's (69) and Juan Barrios was 5-9 with a double (13) and 4 runs scored. Ron Wilton went 4-6 and scored three times as the Avalanche staff gave up a season high 24 hits. Hernandez came out with stiff back and is DtD, Pedro Gonzalez, who walked 4, came out with a tender shoulder and is DtD as well. We are going to use this opportunity to put Gonzalez on the DL, since he's a rule 5, and will add 21 year old SP Rich Jordan, a lefty, to the roster and recall him to relieve for 2 weeks. Joao Carnaxide is due off the DL, problem is newly signed Alfredo Ynequez is out of options and I don't think there's any way he clears waivers. Which leads to the news at the bottom. I deal him (Ynequez) and a minor league reliever to Staten Island and get a pretty good arm back in the 26 year old Alba. He's down to his last option, but was the Colts #2 pick in 2022 out of high school and top 50 prospect as late as 2 years ago. The big catch? The swap of picks, as of today it moves me from the 32nd pick to the 5th, but no matter what it's likely a top 10 pick. Now we root for the Yanks to suck. 6/21 ALK 10 MICH 7 W-Bowman (10-3) L-Marijnissen (3-2) S-Jordan (1) HR MICH-Flores (15) ALK-Holland 2 (8) Cook (13) Into the fire. Newly called up reliever Rich Jordan comes in in the 7th and gets the final 9 outs on just a single hit to save Michael Bowmans win (6-6-6-2-1-2). A Pedro Rivera error led to 4 unearned runs early on. Lowell Cook went 2-4 with a double (12) homer (13) and 3 RBI's (41) and Christian Holland homered twice in a 2-4 3 RBI (28) day. GOOD GAMES-Kade “Tank” Simons (NH) ran his scoreless streak to 17.1 innings with 4 hit shutout of Arizona in a 4-0 win. Tank came into last season as the #2 prospect in the IBL, and took home Rookie of the Year honors after going 14-10 3.33 in 31 starts over 202.2 innings. 6/22 MICH 4 ALK 3 W-Raines (5-11) L-Rodgers (1-1) S-Rea (14) HR MICH-Sandoval 2 (18) J.Gonzalez (11) ALK-Cabrera (6) Newly acquired 3B Antonio Sandoval hit his 1st 2 home runs in a Wolverine uniform to drive in 2 (45) and Juan Gonzalez's 6th inning homer off David Rodgers was the game. Rodgers went 6.1-6-4-4-2-4 giving up the 3 homers. FREE AGENCY-With what looks to be half their 25 man roster on the DL, the Black Sox today announced the signing of 30 year old often injured outfielder Manuel Samudid to a pro-rated 1 year 2.2m dollar deal. Manny has been on the field for just 99 games in the past 2 seasons, and 143 total in the past 3. They are 33-42, 19.5 in back of West Michigan, but trail Green Bay for the 3rd Wild Card spot by just 3. 6/23 ALK 4 MICH 0 W-Hall (12-0) L-Walker (5-3) HR NONE Games like this are why I think OOTP has just stuck with me. 9th inning, 4-0, Hall working on another 4-hitter, he's at 118 pitches. I debate, his last 2 starts have been CG efforts, 125 and 118 pitches. It's June, I'm 20 some games up, why push it? I imagine a Schilling vs Francona cage match as he tries to take me out of a game in the 9th. I do it anyway Sheppard gets the final 3 outs and Hall moves to 12-0 1.09 on the year. Jorge Cabrera goes 3-5 with an RBI (21).DRAFT NEWS-Top pick Jason Martin has signed his offer sheet and has been introduced to the media. He'll hop on a short flight down to Short Season Juneau where we think he's ready to start his career. INJURY NEWS-The Bulldogs are locked in a dual with Baltimore at 41-36, and they'll have to make due the rest of the year without young star Brennan Keller. The 28 year old will have shoulder surgery today. He was 12-9 4.05 in 30 starts last season, just 5-3 5.19 this year. 6/24 ALK 4 HAW 1 W-Drake (10-3) L-Butler (3-9) S-Casas (22) HR ALK-Cook (14) Drake deals, going 7.2-5-1-1-1-6 for his 10th win, lowering his ERA to a 2nd best 2.62. Lowell Cook goes 3-4 with a his 14th homer, scores 3 times and drives in a run (42). INJURY NEWS-Ron Moss (DAL) will miss the next month with some elbow inflammation. The 31 year old lefty is 12-4 2.57 in 16 starts this year. 2029 SEASON WEEK 12 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Holy cow. A monster deal in Chicago as the Iron Pigs send Roberto Cruz, in the final year of his 4 year 59M dollar deal, to division rival Columbus, getting back masher Mario Gomez and a burner OF prospect in Carlos Delgado. I traded for Cruz in the 2023 season from Staten Island in a huge 7 player 4 draft pick deal that netted me CL Michael Byington, 3B Jared Scantlebury and MR Jonasz Plazewski as well as their 1st and 2nd picks, for RP Rea, LF Cannon RF Ted Russell and MR Jorge Pacheco. FL POTW-Felix De Los Santos (COL) 11-22 2 HR's 5 RBI's (.263-7-26) CL POTW-Karl Carter (LV) 12-23 HR 11 RBI's (.338-2-17) POWER RANKINGS 1) Alaska (1) 2) West Michigan (3) 3) Chicago (2) 4) Houston (-) 5) Los Angeles (5) OUT New Hampshire (6) NEWS/NOTES

At the halfway mark
Offensively it feels like things are clicking. Flores is a guy I came to terms with today to provide some INF depth. Viera is blossing into an impact player on both sides of the ball.
RJ was on course for a monster year. Hall IS on course for a monster year. .67 WHIP? .164 OAVG? .221 BABIP? His ERA is a new record for 81 games. Drake is quietly having another great year and this might be the year Michael Bowman becomes a legit ace. You must be way better at developing young talent than I am. I can barely get 1/4 of the guys I draft highly to pan out. Do you handle all promotions/demotions for the minors? What about lineups and pitching staffs for minors, do you also set those or allow the coaches to do it? Sorry for all the questions. This is the first dynasty since cknox pale hose that I have been into. I was honestly mad when you traded Alexander and Salinas with Chicago. I thought about it for a second, and realized " I'm mad some guy I dont know traded fictional players..." That means you are telling one hell of a story! Thanks again! |

June Award winners
How about Oswalt? About time Miguel starts showing up. Rob Bright having another big time season. Bright, Morgan, Hall and Oswalt are all pushing some legendary numbers right now, and Brandon Webb has bounced back from a terrible April, he'll start showing up too.

The last day of camp, before opening day, I scour the waiver wire and I setup all of the AAA, AA and A ball teams, rotations, pens and lineups, I also go in an individually set personal strategy, and import my 'organizational' strategy at each level. Tweaking for the lower minors pitching. I look forward to that day, and now with the new tool that shows me prospects getting better/worse, I can do it better. I did edit some of the initial players. I wanted a thumper, i wanted a young kid that could run, etc. Nothing stupid. The only manipulation I do now is when I am bringing MLB rookies into the draft. I use the 'set potential using these stats' using their career averages for the most part. The cool thing is the game can run off the rails, like Arod's career ending a few years back. (and I have a dilema with him and the HOF, he had a koufax like run). BTW that's coming up for me. I am thinking I am going to do HOF inductions every deca year. 2030 being the first. And I want to set high standards and am wondering if I should do them as just hitters and pitchers? or positionally? I am having more fun now than when I started, so considering I am in season 18 that's saying something about this amazing piece of software.

With a league like this, it might be cool to do it by position. Also would be neat to do it by how well they did in the limited amount they played. I know a few of the original Iron Pigs were already well into their 30's at the onset of the league, so maybe some of those guys could still be considered? |

I am trying to figure out HOF WAR values, VORP values, ERA+ and OPS+ in relation to the MLB hall, I want every player in to be a true HOF'er.

His line, 7-11-4-4-0-8 on 125 pitches was his worst start of the year. Cisco Casas bailed out Marc Sheppard, who left the bases loaded and 1 out in the 10th. Mike Lewis went 10-9-4-4-3-10 in the ND. MAGICAL YEAR-Stan Hall is having a year for the ages. He's 12-0 1.31 in 17 starts as of today. He went 8-6-4-4-3-12 on opening day and since then has made 15 starts, in those 15 he has gone 7+ in every one (except the 5/26 start when he came out with a stiff back) and given up 2 runs or less in every one! Without those two games he sports an ERA of 0.85 today. Discounting the 1 inning start he came out, his totals, minus just 2 starts in which he has given up more than 2 earned, would be, 115.1 IP 63 H 11 ER 120 K's 11 BB's for an ERA of 0.85 and a WHIP of .64. 6/29 EDM 7 ALK 4 (10) W-Scott (5-5) L-Hansen (2-2) HR EDM-Waycott (3) Reyes WO (9) Jesus Reyes 2 run walk off homer off Keith Hansen was the end of this one. Luke Stover has his 1st career 5-hit day, going 5-5 with 4 singles, a homer and 4 RBI's (38). Cole Martin goes 3-5 with 2 doubles (21) a homer (16) 3 runs and 3 RBI's (34). 7/1 EDM 4 ALK 3 W-McIntyre (2-3) L-Buffy (0-1) HR ALK-Viera (6) Holland (10) EDM-Reyes (10) Hayden Buffy's 2 out wild pitch in the bottom of the 9th was the 'walk off' moment.
