Still looking for that Birmingham GM....and as the 1995 season wraps up here we may be looking at a couple of other openings.

This is an ideal time to get into the MBBA as you'll take the helm right as the uber-important offseason takes place.

With Birmingham still open, we're announcing another opening as well:

The California Crusaders

1995 Final Record: 93-69, 3 games back, Johnson League Pacific Division; missed the JL Wild Card by just ONE game (ouch)

Offensive Quick Look: Offensively, the Crusaders struggled a bit this season. Their big power source was 1B Billy Wilson (40 HR, 115 RBI, but just a .243 BA, .316 OBP and 142 K's). LF Kelly Benson led CAL with a .335 batting average, but offers very little pop. C Hurley Reyes is a great source of power from the catcher position as well as a plus defender.

Pitching Quick Look: The Crusaders were third in the JL with a 3.47 team ERA and they earned the bulk of their 93 wins from the bump. 26 year old right hander Chip Foodie (21-7, 2.79, 31 BB, 243 K's in 270.2 innings pitched) is the undisputed ace and will get some top pitcher votes as well. Former big leager Billy Taylor has been with California and the MBBA for two seasons now and is fully established as one of the best closers in the business.

Financial Quick Look: The Crusaders drew nearly 3 million fans this year but badly needed that playoff revenue that they missed by one lousy game. They finished in the red, so a player like Wilson who makes $11M per season will need to be moved in order for the club to have a successful draft and or have any wiggle room to reinvent themselves offensively.

Outlook: To be honest, the Crusaders probably over-achieved in 1995, and given the financial situation a new GM is going to be making some tough decisions this winter. They need a strong leader, a patient GM with a plan and the willingness to stick it through.

We just finished the first season's championship, with the Chicago Black Sox taking the Landis Memorial Series Championship!!!

As is usually the case with new leagues, we're experiencing some turnover as we expected. Trying to get the right 24 people with the same energy level and activity level is often a challenge.

At this point there are three teams available: the Birmingham Bandits, the California Crusaders, and the Phoenix Talons...with the possibility of one more opening by the end of the day tomorrow. I'd love to get these filled quickly, but I'd rather be patient and wait for a person who is looking to immerse themselves into a fictional league like the MBBA.

Is that you? Are you interested? Want to ask me some more questions? Cool....Register for our forums (see top post in this thread) and then PM me here with your username. We'll go from there!!!

As we've finished our first season back, we had to sort through some owners who weren't being very active and clear them out. The key to a successful league is participation across the board, and I take that very seriously.

With that being said I'm looking for one more active GM to join our league. At this point that's all the info I'll give. If you're interested, PM me...and we'll discuss details.

Thanks, hope to hear from the next member of the MBBA soon!

1996 comes to an end, four open teams as Offseason begins!

As the 1996 Season has just come to an end, we now have four franchises that are looking for new blood as General Manager to get them off to a great start in the 1996-97 Offseason!!!

Greenville Moonshiners
(88-74, 3rd place in the Johnson League Atlantic Division, 11 games back, missed playoffs)
-The best part of this team? The best pitcher in the MBBA will be yours!

Washington Bobwhites
(99-63, 1st place Johnson League Atlantic Division, lost to eventual champions in the Doubleday Series, which is our 1st round of a 3 round playoff system)
- The pitcher from Greenville gets an argument from the Bobwhites' ace Shane Christen, who was an amazing 27-3 on the season!

Chicago Black Sox
(84-78, 1st place in Johnson League Midwest Division, won the 1996 Landis Memorial Series as champions of the MBBA!!!!)
- What's not to like? You get the defending champs as their GM decided to step down on top! Plenty of talent here!!!

Hawaii Tropics
(82-80, 2nd place in Johnson League Pacific Division, 17 games back, missed playoffs)
-The "least successful" of the four currently open teams, the Tropics still posted a winning record and have several star players such as two young stars they acquired in 1995 from my club in 3B Robb Wells and CF Silas Camarena.

Interested? PM me on THESE BOARDS after you register for the MBBA Forums, let me know what username you set up there, and we'll approve your registration and get the ball rolling. THIS IS THE IDEAL TEAM TO JOIN, with the Offseason, Ammy Draft, and Free Agency all starting later this week!!!

Atlantic City Gamblers now open!!!

We've filled the three previous openings, and now with the season coming to an end we had one other team open up due to not meeting the very low 10 Participation Point minimum (per season).

Atlantic City Gamblers (83-79, 3rd place Frick League Atlantic, 8 games back, missed playoffs)

The Gamblers are an exciting team filled with multitudes of talent. Honestly, this is probably the best opening we've had in a while. -SS Ossian Fallon followed last years ROY campaign with a season getting votes in the Sawyer Silk Award Voting (hitter of the year)!
-Can you SMELL what THE ROCK is cookin????
-How about a 27 year old starting pitcher, Jim Brochtup, in his prime???
-Oh, and then there's the most underappreciated player in the MBBA, 31 year old first baseman Flavio Luna, aka "the best player you've never heard of".

Flavio, on behalf of the entire Atlantic City Gamblers, wishes to find a GM who will change the mindset here, so they won't have to be the guys that we "never heard of" anymore.

Is it you???

And the Gamblers are filled! With that the MBBA is full again for the moment, but always welcoming "vultures", Assistant GM's in waiting, and "beat writers" to join us!

Send me a PM anytime if you have any level of interest in the MBBA, or for that matter, our historical league Other Reality Baseball 2!

If you're interested, please register for the MBBA Forums, then send me a Private Message on the OOTP Forums to let me know of your interest and the Forum ID you registered with on the MBBA Forums!

We want folks who are in it for the long haul. We want folks who ENJOY writing and forum chatter. We want the kind of GM who will export every sim as a matter of principle. If you're looking for a casual league, this one isn't for you. If you want a growing fictional league with a great history, the MBBA is DEFINITELY for you!
