Frisch will earn $27,975,000 per year over 4 years. During his career Frisch has played in 1062 games, batted .323 with 323 home runs and 1385 base hits. |

Wildcats End Connor's Streak:
Lady Luck was not on the side of Roger Connor or his teammates today at Tointon Family Stadium. Everything went the way of the Kansas State Wildcats, who not only came away with the 5-4 victory over Southern Illinois, but also held Connor hitless in 3 at-bats to put an end to his 25-game hitting streak. "It was a good run," Connor said afterward. "It would be much easier to take right now if we had won." This season Connor is swinging the bat at a .400 pace. Homer #300 for Cal's Mitchell:
Did you catch a home run yesterday? One lucky fan has a prize possession after Mike Mitchell crushed his 300 home run tonight. Mitchell offered the lucky fan some souvenirs and a small cash prize in exchange for the ball. The fan who caught the ball has been identified, but has not yet commented on his intentions. "That's one you would kind of like to keep," Mitchell said. The Bears right fielder went 3 for 4 with 1 home run and 1 RBI as the Cal Bears won 8-3 over the Oregon State Beavers. The Bears will be hosting a Mike Mitchell commemorative poster promotion for an upcoming homestand. Mitchell has played in 948 games and posted a lifetime .301 average. He has 1116 hits, 167 doubles, 29 triples and 300 homers. In addition he has driven in 861 runs and scored 678 times. |

O'Dell Untouchable, Tosses No-Hitter:
Billy O'Dell relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Houston hitless in a 4-0 win at Illinois Field today. "Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Cougars off balance and guessing the whole game." The 24-year-old starter rung up 11 strikeouts and 1 walk in whipping the Cougars. "When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Houston skipper John Bridges said. In 9 starts this season O'Dell has recorded a 5-2 record and a 2.47 ERA. |
