Upcoming scheduled starters:

- Skubal
- ERod
- Lorenzen
- Manning

That is a beautiful sight for sore eyes. Now we just need to see Baddoo and Greene back in the lineup so we don't have to be subjected to Carpenter's defense so often.

Tigers face decision-filled week before All-Star break

Skubal returns Tuesday
ERod Wednesday
Baddoo before the AS break
Greene before or right after the AS break
Brieske soon-ish
Wingenter soon-ish
Faedo soon-ish

Quote:
By the time the Tigers return from the break, nearly 20 percent of the active roster will have turned over.
Which all creates a looming shake-up and interesting puzzle for Harris and Hinch to figure out.

Offensively it seems pretty straightforward to me, Marisnik and Nevin go. Later in July, Schoop is traded for a bag of balls or released and Maton is called back up.

I think Schoop might needed to be traded WITH a bag of balls for someone to take him.

Nope, watching todays game in Arizona and the Mets have twice sent it down to a female reporter. Once she gave gambling news, the other time she gave a long rambling Shelly Smith "he said" and then "he said" and "he said more" The gambling report didn't bother me, but I just can't stand the telling me what a guy said in an interview thing. Show the interview or just shut the hell up.

They did?? Funny. I noticed Steve Gelbs was giving the send-off from the SNY studio in New York before the game started, but that sideline lady didn't even register with me.

I am great at this. As soon as ads start anywhere these days, my mind immediately goes blank. Sometimes it even works with other pointless drivel

So the Pinocchio pants commercials don't drive you nuts? I want to see Livvy Dunne and Pinocchio team together for a commercial.

I can tune stuff out too, but for some reason the minute that "he said" interview crap starts my skull wants to split. Like Dick Vitale, there must be people that enjoy it, so it's not going away anytime soon, so I will just keep complaining.

I get few if any commercials on MLB.tv; nobody bothers to buy ad space for the three people watching in Germany. I get a lot of clips from MLB Network programs and so on. But a 30-second ad at the start of a Youtube video? Doesn't track with me. Passes unseen.

...out of curiosity, though, I consulted Youtube on Pinocchio pants commercials, and I can see why this would get somebody's blood pressure going...

Here the commercials on MLB.tv are less than network tv, but they tend to run the same ones over and over and over again. I thinks there are around 4 versions of the Pinocchio ads. The first time I saw each one, I found them humorous. The 45th time each over a weeks time, I wasn't laughing as much. The other one that is really bad is the one with the guy that has a new house where he listens to his music and grows his succulents.

I'm watching on Bally Sports and 90% of the commercials are from the government. And they are played over and over and over.

Not trying to pile on, but scoring zilch all the way into and through extra innings against the Oakland Pathetics should give bonus losses.

To be fair, the A's are a major league baseball team. They may be sporting mostly AAAA- and AAA-caliber players, but they are a major league team. And they have beaten multiple teams far better than Detroit. In fact, they have almost as many wins against above .500 teams as the Tigers do. So, it's not that bad that they lost. Besides, Sears was dealing last night. It was a pitchers' duel.

The same two teams played today, right? Baseball is a weird sport.

All is not lost:

- Skubal and Olsen were fantastic in the 1-0 loss
- While ERod was roughed up, it was not a bad first outing back. 7 Ks, no walks. He had some control issues and they hit all his mistakes. I think he will be fine
- Baddoo is slated to be back in the lineup tonight I believe
- Faedo makes his first start since May tonight
- Greene is supposedly going to be in the lineup Saturday or Sunday
- Mize is doing bullpen sessions now
- Colt Keith seems to be knocking on the call-up door

The injured list is thinning out at last

Also, Malloy (the 3B/OF they got for Joe Jimenez) may be MLB-ready sooner rather than later too. Even more reason to jettison Schoop even if they have to eat the rest of his 2023 salary. I have liked Schoop but he is not a functional MLB level player any longer.

Gelbs is probably just on Jets duty or something. He's still listed in all sources as the SR.

Fill-ins don't count (Gary Cohen skips a road trip or two each year). I was only speaking of permanent SRs. [/OT]
