Bill McNulty joined the 400 home run club this year. This is the second time that McNulty has been successful giving him two chances in the final home run derby.



Brian McCann also joined the 400 home run club. McCann has hit 156 home runs in real life.



Chris Nyman hit just 2 home runs in real life and became the third and final addition to the 400 home run club this year.



Clarence Kraft hit career home run number 700 this year, while Ernie Calbert led the league with 71 home runs and hit his 600th career home run. Also hitting his 600th home run was Pete Compton.



Both Oscar Charleston and Adam Dunn hit their 500th career home run.

Travis Hafner retired with 338 home runs, while 400 club members Jim Thome (855), Ed Barney (515), Todd Helton (486), and Paul Konerko (474) all retired.

Real life Triple Crown winner hit his 400th career home run this year. Cabrera has hit 321 home runs in real life and will now have two opportunities in the final home run derby.



Carlos Pena had big success in the original when he hit 560 home runs, and gained his second chance in the final home run derby when he hit his 400th this year. Pena has hit 277 home runs in real life.



Billy Klusman reached 700 career home runs this year, while Richie Zisk, Bill Joyce, and Oscar Charleston all reached 600 career home runs.

Alex Rodriguez (886), JD Drew (555), and David Ortiz (486) all retired as members of the 400 club, while Alfonso Soriano (358) and Toru Sugiura (341) fell short of 400. Alfonso Soriano still has a chance in the final home run derby after hitting 565 home runs in round two.

Just when you think things are slowing down five more players reach the 400 home run club.



Jose Bautista leads the way this year. At the end of 2012 Bautista has hit 183 home runs and this is the first time he has hit 400.



Charlie High also joined the 400 home run club. High hit one home run in real life in just 94 at bats between 1919 and 1920.



Jack Rowe played during the 1800's in real life and hit 28 home runs, but as we've seen before that doesn't mean much for the 1800's players. Rowe became the latest to join the 400 club.



Heinie Zimmerman also joined the 400 club. Zimmerman played in the deadball era in real life and hit 58 home runs.



Hank Blalock also joined the 400 club this year. Blalock hit 153 home runs in real life.

Clarence Kraft moved past 800 career home runs this year, while Ernie Calbert hit his 700th career home run.

Albert Pujols, Jack Farrell, and Travis Buck all hit their 600th career home run, while Bill McNulty, Mark Teixeira, Ryan Howard, and Henry Hanna all hit their 500th.

Three members of the 400 club retired. Ed Keas (476), Troy Glaus (470), and Carlos Pena (409) will all move on to the final home run derby.

Josh Hamilton hit his 400th career home run this year. Hamilton has hit 161 home runs in real life so far.



Bill Melton hit 160 career home runs in real life, and also hit his 400th this year. Looks like it was a big year for players that have career totals in the 160's this year.



Rene Tosoni also joined the 400 club this year. Tosoni hit just 5 home runs in real life.

Once again it was a busy year for entry into the 400 home run club, and we'll highlight the first 5 (of 7) players that hit their 400th home run.



Mike Tiernan was the first player to reach 400 this year. Tiernan hit 106 home runs in real life.



John Mayberry, Sr. hit 255 home runs in real life, and was the second to reach 400 this year.



Earl Sheely played during the 1920's and hit 48 home runs in real life and became the first Earl to hit his 400th home run this year.



The second Earl, Earl Smith also hit his 400th home run this year. Smith played during the 20's and 30's and hit 46 home runs.



Johnny Blanchard also hit his 400th home run this year. Blanchard hit 67 home runs in real life

Adam Lind has hit 117 home runs in real life and became the 6th player to hit his 400th home run this year.



The seventh player to hit their 400th home run this year was Ryan Braun. Braun has hit 202 home runs in real life through 2012 and also saw success in the original version when he hit 497.

Bill McNulty joined the 600 club this year, while Charlie High, Miguel Cabrera, and Rene Tosoni all hit their 500th home run this year.

Albert Pujols (675), Travis Buck (633), Adam Dunn (625), Mark Teixeira (551), Henry Hanna (527), Chris Nyman (447), and Richie Zisk (678) all retired as members of the 400 home run club.

Felipe Alou came just 6 home runs short of joining his son in the final home run derby after retiring. It's times like these where I want to interfere and unretire him, but I'll refrain.

Guy Sturdy joined the 400 club this year. Sturdy hit just 1 home run in the majors in real life, but did hit 203 home runs in the minor leagues.



Danny Tartabull hit 262 home runs in real life and also joined the 400 home run club.



Joey Votto also joined the 400 club this year. Votto has hit 133 home runs so far in his career through the 2012 season.

Bill Joyce (655), Ryan Howard (567), Jose Bautista (458), Jack Rowe (418), Billy Klusman (840), Fred Luderus (611), and Johnny Blanchard (400) all retired as members of the 400 home run club. Riggs Stephenson retired with 377 career home runs, failing to qualify for the final home run derby.

As we continue to wind things down there are now 718 players left. The number of players that have reached 400 has started to slow somewhat, and the list of players we are watching is shrinking as well. We should just have 10 or so more years left.



Eddie Lukon was the first player to hit 400 home runs this year. Lukon hit 23 home runs in real life.



Jay Bruce also reached 400 career home runs and will advance to the next round for the first time. Bruce has hit 134 home runs in real life.



The last player to hit 400 this year was Whitey Kurowski. Kurowski hit 106 home runs in real life.

Jack Farrell and Bill McNulty both hit their 700th home run this season. Charlie High past the 600 home run mark this year. The 500 home run club saw just one addition, as Heinie Zimmerman reached 500.

Just two players retired this year on the watch list, both missing out on 400. David Wright finished with 366 home runs. Grady Sizemore retired with 351 homers.

Earl Webb was the first player to reach 400 career home runs this year. Webb hit 56 home runs in real life, and the third Earl to qualify for the final home run derby, all of which have done so in the past couple years.



Carlos Gonzalez joins Adrian and Juan as the third Gonzalez in the final home run derby after hitting career home run number 400 this year. Gonzalez has hit 99 home runs in real life so far.



Jack Gleason is the third player to hit 400 home runs this year. Ruining the trend there are more than 3 Jack's in the final home run derby. Gleason did hit 9 home runs in real life during the 1800's.

Joining the 600 club were Rene Tosoni and Miguel Cabrera, while Ryan Braun, Guy Sturdy, Adam Lind, and Earl Smith joined the 500 club.

While I don't think we've seen the last of the additions to the 400 club, this was the first year in quite a while where there were no new additions, and with 475 players left we are approaching the end to rounds 3 (and 4).



Guy Sturdy led the league this year with 60 home runs, as the season totals continue to drop (probably to a more acceptable level, or closer to it at least.)

Adam Lind (509), Eddie Lukon (423), Jay Bruce (410), and Ryan Bruan (535) all were members of the 400 club that retired following the year.

With five players within 30 home runs of reaching 400 home runs for their career this may not be the last time multiple players join the 400 club, but with 300 players remaining things are slowing down.



Brett Lawrie has hit 20 home runs in real life and became the first of three players to join the 400 home run club this year.



Joe Pactwa never hit a home run in the majors, but was a minor league slugger in the 70's. This year he joined the 400 club and will now qualify for the next round.



David Justice also joined the 400 club this year. Justice hit 305 home runs in real life. While Justice has never hit 400 home runs before I thought he came close before.

Rene Tosoni hit 44 home runs this year to move past 700 career home runs.

Pete Compton (923), Charlie High (691), and John Mayberry, Sr. (513) all retired this year as members of the 400 club.

In the close, but no cigars category Dann Bilardello (398), Pablo Sandoval (396), Pete Varney (375), and John Morril (352) retired.

Jimmy Hurst hit just 1 home run in real life in 17 career at bats, but became the only player to join the 400 club this year. Also several players are knocking on the door, nothing is a given, so Hurst, or someone that joins the 400 club shortly will be the last to join.

Clarence Kraft retired with 1163 home runs. Bill McNulty (823), Heinie Zimmerman (589), Earl Sheely (559), Earl Smith (548), and Danny Tartabull (530) all retired from baseball as members of the 400 home run club.

Bill Melton and Guy Sturdy both hit career home run number 700, while Mike Tiernan blasted the 600th of his career.

Cristobal Torriente fell just short of 400, retiring with 374.

Earl Webb hit the 600th home run of his career in what was the top headline for this year. The season totals continue to drop with Guy Sturdy leading with 45, and after doing some clean up of older players with no chance to hit 200, let alone 300 or 400 we are now left with 92 players.

Bill Melton retired with 717 home runs, while Jorge Orta fell short with 393 homers, as did Roger Maris, who hit 372.

While not too noteworthy, I did notice that Mike Trout now has 195 career home runs.

While it's not the DiMaggio who I would have liked to hit 400 career home runs, Vince DiMaggio achieved that feat this year. DiMaggio hit 125 home runs in real life. Before I say that I think he'll be the last I have to look at Polly McLarry, who seems a lock for 400.



Jimmy Hurst moved past 500 career home runs this year.

Mike Tiernan (661), Jack Gleason (444), Bob Pettit (438), and Wes Covington (409) retired from baseball as members of the 400 home run club.

There are now just 28 players left. I did notice that one of the players in the 2012 class that was added retired this year, as Ralph Kiner again failed to reach 400 when he hit 257 homers.
