Since nobody is getting skipped, what's the difference between #4 and #5?

Well, see, I think Blanton should be 4 and Loaiza should be a #5 who is skipped every time it is reasonable to do so. I guess I should've added that.

Well I bet we'll see our first 2006 look at Keilty tonight because I'm sure Macha wants to get him in against the lefty. And I read that Jay Payton is 7-for-15 lifetime against Rogers. Swisher would play first, which means this could be another day off for Kotsay or the first day off for Bradley.

Wow. I don't even know what to say about this lineup:

Kendall C
Ellis 2B
Crosby SS
Thomas DH
Bradley RF
Payton CF
Swisher 1B
Kielty LF
Perez 3B

It's not pretty, but Keilty and Payton in and Kotsay out doesn't suprise me (see my post right before yours). And I'm guessing Chavvy doesn't have good numbers against Rogers, and it gives them a chance to get him a day off.

Not that I expect to win with that, but I understand it.

Yeah. That's why I wasn't sure what to say. It's a rather horrendous lineup, but I'm not sure there's a better option tonight. I still think I want Payton higher and Jason Kendall nowhere near the leadoff spot. I really don't care if Kendall is 10 for 10 with 10 homers against Rogers during his career. He sucks now and should be no higher than 8th in the order.

I hope he makes me look dumb with a few hits tonight.

Numbers vs. Rogers

Scutaro: 5-16, 2 2B, 1 3B, 3 RBI, .313/.353/.563/.915

Sweet, good thing he's not in the lineup.

Kielty: 7-29, 1 2B, .241/.241/.276/.517
Kotsay: 9-33, 2 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, .273/.314/.424/.739

Good thing Kotsay is getting rested. OH WAIT. Check out his numbers against Bonderman (tomorrow): 2-12, .167/.167/.167/.333

seriously, it's not that hard... and yet Macha screws it up. Woot.

Anyone else notice Kendall just move out of the way on that DP, he didn't even try to slide into Guillen

why is Crosby batting 3rd.... 5th or 6th seems like the prime spot for him... and Kendall needs to "take a week off"! JUST FOR REST.... he looks tired (sarcasm)... Macha still doesn't bat Swisher any higher than 7th... maybe he thinks he can hide him late in the order and no one will know that he is playing and he comes up to the plate and whoever is pitching doesn't know who it is cuz he knows that Swisher should be batting WAY higher!

I never understood the Crosby at third thing. Not this year, not last year. There's no reason why Thomas, Bradley, and Swisher should be batting behind him.

Edit: Definitely meant Crosby batting third.

Crosby should be 6th.

Kotsay
Swisher
Bradley
Chavez
Thomas
Crosby
Johnson
Kendall
Ellis/Scutaro

No questions asked, that should be the everyday lineup until further notice.

I wouldn't mind seeing Kielty in place of Johnson vs. lefties. Kielty has been very good historically when he bats right-handed.

I'm going to tomorrow's game. I wish Giants tickets were as cheap as A's tickets.

I'm jealous. You're getting a good pitching matchup.

Truly bizarre stat. Swisher has one BB in 51 at bats. Nice to see him hitting better than a middle infielder for the first time.

Translation: He's getting pitches to hit, and hitting them.

Taking a BB isn't about just getting on, it's about not swinging at ****e pitches. Swisher's been doing that pretty consistently so far.

It's called development.

Edit: Every A's fan on the planet should be allowed to lace up a pair of steel-toed boots and kick Ken Macha as hard as possible in the testicles every time he bats Mark Ellis ahead of Eric Chavez, Mark Kotsay, Milton Bradley, and Nick Swisher.
