One pitch, one strike. One more pitch...a changeup, of all of 'em!
Double play ball. 6-4-3. Nobody ****s it up along the way. Three outs away. Holy... Pale Hose 6, Yankees 4, heading to 9th |

One two three in the top of the ninth, and maybe everyone in New York will wonder why Scot Shields didn't come out in the seventh when the dam was starting to break and the floodgates opened.
BOTTOM 9 TOP OF THE ORDER COMING UP Jeter, Winn, Rodriguez, two runs tie it and three runs means we will all be unbelievably disappointed. Close your eyes if you'd rather not know, but if you've read this far... |

Mr .400 something postseason average leads off the ninth, with his team down two...
"The two-two offering to Jeter...rocks and fires and a swing and a miss, strike three! Got him on the splitter!" Right there you get a good feeling, if the splitter's working like that...but Roa's blown a bunch of games since August and one baserunner and suddenly the tying run's at the plate... "Two balls and no strikes to Randy Winn...changeup and a big swing but he got under it! Fly ball to center field, camping under it is Wells and he makes the catch. Two down!" With that out Rodriguez can't win the game or even tie it. He can, however, keep it alive and put the tying run at the plate, or... "The one-one pitch to Alex Rodriguez...swung on and bounced to the right side, Kennedy fields it, fires to first..." And the Pale Hose are going to the World Series. THE PALE HOSE ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!

Wow, after being with you all throughout "last year", this is amazing. I have no idea what you are going to do with your roation for the series, but man, I am pumped to see how they do.
On to the Series!

I gotta admit I never actually expected to win this game, I think that's why I put off playing it for so long. In the end I laughed and cried and had an absolute blast for three frickin hours playing out this silly little fake game. And it would've been agony if those damned Yankees came back to win.
The box score before bedtime. Code:

You know how little I expected to win this game? This is a little bit about me and not the AL CHAMPION PALE HOSE, but indulge me for a second. I'm moving out of where I'm staying in a few weeks, with quite honestly no set plan yet as to where I'm going. My financial situation is a mess, my own situation mentally and emotionally is still very much a roller coaster ride, though greatly improved compared to where I've been. I figured we'd lose this game, I'd get things settled and by the end of July, pick the game back up with year 3 of the Pale Hose. Instead there's World Series games to play out. I don't know what the rotation's going to look like either. And now I want to pitch Buehrle in set up when he's not starting. Quote:
In OOTP language Garland is out "one week" and there's probably still a few off days till the Series, I havent bothered to press the next day button yet so I dont know for sure. Again I wish the injury system was more ambiguous. But he'll definitely be on the roster, I assume available to start game 3 or 4 unless the injury system is more fluid than I remember. What a ride this has been, thanks for coming along and I appreciate everyone who posted how they enjoyed. I'll have some more some time tomorrow after work, probably just a little bit of recap on how the Cubs got into this all Chicago series. I'm a few minutes early but happy 4th. 23rd in runs scored, tied 10th in runs allowed...now there's a World Series club for you. Only the Pale Hose.

the cubs
2nd in the league in home runs. 7th in walks. 1st in almost every pitching category. The Cubs are pretty scary.
How do you scratch runs together against Barry Zito, 20-6 with a 2.56 ERA and the likely Cy Young winner? Or Kerry Wood, 13-4 with a 1.84 ERA in 181 innings? Or, hell, third starter Andy Sisco, 7-9 but with a 3.48 ERA and nearly a strikeout an inning at age 24? Once you hit the seventh, it's Travis Driskill (2.57 ERA), and pitching the eighth is Latroy Hawkins, who's been nearly untouchable for 2 years, posting a 1.18 ERA last year and a 1.53 mark this year. Joe Borowski is their 36 year old ninth inning closer, and maybe it's just the age but his not totally dominant numbers remind me of Joe Roa. However he's converted 30+ saves for five years in a row. Sisco is vulnerable to the extra base hit, but the lefty throws in the mid nineties, which might leave our lineup swinging once the ball's already in catcher Dave Ross's mitt. If we're lucky Wood might walk a few guys, he does that once in a while, but you don't post a 1.84 ERA by accident and his numbers against every batter human or non-human are completely dominant. However he's had two very mediocre outings in the playoffs, more on them at a later time. Zito threw a one-hit shutout in game two of the first round against Colorado. I'm terrified already and havent even mentioned that powerful offense. More later. |
