Beckhams going to the States, biggest ego in world sports wont miss an oportunity to hit the country with the biggest advertising machines. He's always been on an ego trip since the day he hit that goal from the half way line, he knew what he was doing he had nothing to lose, last minutes of a game that United had won so what if he had missed nobody would have given a crap but if he scored he's a big man.

Oh and to prove he's on ego trip his "spokesman" holy **** a footballer having a spokesman <<<< shakes head, anyways his spokesman said "He could be anywhere in the world in the States perhaps or why not back in England ?"

Who's going to sign him in England, can't see Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal doing it not when the spokesman said he'll be 34 at least when he leaves Madrid. I hope he don't comeback to be honest and I know he wont but if he ever signs for Celtic I'll become a Rangers fan and if he ever signs for Wigan I'll become a Bolton fan.

ps My Spokesman would like to inform you that I don't like Beckham as he's the most overated player ever, he would also like to inform you that I am glad he wont gain 100 caps as it would have been an insult to Bobby Moore's name.

Ego and attitudes aside, Beckham coming to the US will be the single greatest thing to happen to soccer in America. It'll help boost popularity for the sport here and give it some sort of place in American sports culture besides the back pages of the newspaper and the "Not Top 10" segments on Sportscenter.

Also where the money is coming from to buy Torres, I have no idea, because they don't have any money to start with.
While fans may not like the fact that Glazers own the club, you have to give him credit, he's willing to open the checkbook.

As for "the papers", wait, you believe the papers?

I don't think it will to be honest, no idea how he is viewed stateside but over here he's not even a blip anymore. All he is now is an over the hill player with as big an ego as any other player, only thing he does now is cry in the papers to get in the international team again, which unless about 10 midfield players get injured isn't going to happen heck McLaren even begged Paul Scholes to come out of international retirement TWICE before picking Beckham.

Fine, he's going to America - but it won't be to play for a team in MLS.

No I didn't say that. I don't believe them, and that was the whole point I disagreed with their earlier belief that Torres was going to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.

And as it is a rumour that he's going there in January, you must have got it from somewhere - over here it has been propagated by the newspapers.

IMO, football conducts its business in an absurd way. They are as fickle as adolescents. If something doesnt immediatly work out, they jettison the relationship. Everyone chases the 'hot' player of the moment.

Why not keep a team together for a couple of years and give the players time to acclimate themselves to one another (important for players from different countries)? Monkeys could do a better job of running some of these FCs.

So is this Torres kid the real deal? Or is he another over-hyped, over-priced youngster? I know nothing about him other than the little info you guys just gave me. I don't really follow Spanish soccer at all. I'm just barely starting to get a grasp on the English scene.

If he comes to England odds on him settling are against him, odds on him being an hit are against him. Not many Spaniards come here and top of my head can't think of one who's settled and done well, most of the players who come here and do well are from countries like Sweden, Norway and the likes although a few french players have come over the last few years and done well.
