McAuliffe batters Carney for Title Defense
September 29, 1907
Champ Jack McAuliffe (24-4-2) got off the canvas and battered #7 Jem Carney (17-12) in route to a TKO14. Carney landed a solid uppercut in the 3 round and dropped the champ. From that point on it was all McAuliffe. Jack knocked Carney down in the 5th, 6th and then twice in the 14th forcing the ref to stop the fight. I had it 127-118 in favor of McAuliffe at the time of the stoppage. On the undercard WW - Kyle Whitney (10-1-1) UD10 Paddy Duffy (9-13-3) HW - Joe Jeannette (12-0) KO3 William Schiller (10-3) BW - Kid Murphy (8-0) UD10 Charley Kelly (3-7-1) LW - Sam Bolen (6-9-1) MD8 Charley White (5-4) (white fought at pp for this club fight) BW - Frankie Neil (12-15-2) SD10 Austin Rice (3-19-1) (club fight) |

September fights
Thanks to Sabotai's new utility here is a text file of September's fight, now if only we could post html files ...
Things to remember 1. record is pre-fight 2. any date (like 9/1) that has numerous fighters from one division fighting is probably beginners. The beginners are fighting fictional tomato cans, so alot of the losers in those aren't real fighters. Last edited by mh2365; 04-15-2007 at 08:11 PM. |

My history file?
If so it won't let me attach it because it isn't an approved file type to attach. You can't attach csv files. Last edited by mh2365; 03-17-2005 at 07:01 PM. |

Johnson wins 15th Title Defense
October 3, 1907
Jack Johnson (27-1) showed up fat for his bout with #5 George Godfrey (17-11-1) but was still too much for the challenger winning a UD15 for his 15th title defense. Johnson was lethargic the whole fight and it nearly cost him. The crowd booed throughout the fight. Johnson built a sizeable lead in the early rounds then coasted the rest of the way. Godfrey won alot of the middle rounds to make it close. Godfrey suffered a cut under his right eye in the 3rd, and Johnson's right eye started swelling in the 13th. I had it 145-141. Jaret Morgan ringside scored it 144-142. The official judges had it 145-142/144-142/146-139. On the undercard HW - Mike Schreck (16-12) KO7 Morris Grant (11-13-5) LH - Jack Sulivan (14-13-1) UD10 Jack Graham (7-4) HW - Dick O'Brien (7-2-1) KO4 Pat Kieley (10-16-1) (O'Brien fought as pp in this club fight) LW - Danny Duane (4-8-1) MD10 Barney Donovan (11-17-1) (club fight) HW - John McDermont (10-16-2) UD10 Mick Dooley (7-19-1) (club fight) |

Driscoll finally wins title
October 15, 1907
#2 Jem Driscoll (27-5) used superior defense and boxing skills to win his first Featherweight title on his 3rd try, with a MD15 over champ Young Griffo (24-5-3). Driscoll built a solid lead through the middle rounds which helped him survive an embarassing knockdown in the 13th round. Embarrassing because it was the first time in 32 fights that Griffo had knocked anyone down. There were no cuts or swelling, just superior defense in this fight. I had it 142-142. Ringside expert Scott Lang also saw it as a draw. The official judges had it 144-142/143-142/142-142. On the undercard LH - Jack Root (25-7-1) SD10 Al Kauffman (4-9) LW - Dave Holly (8-5-6) DRAW10 Jewey Cooke (9-4-2) (Holly likes to tie) MW - William Sullivan (8-1) UD10 WC McClellan (12-19-3) (Sullivan fought at pp and stepped up to MW for this club fight, he will move up to the main division at WW) FW - Billy O'Donnell (7-2-2) KO5 David Morgan (5-1) (both fighters at pp for this club fight) MW - Denny Kelliher (11-15-3) TKO8 George Rooke (11-13-1) (club fight) |

Jackson wins title for the 3rd time
October 20, 1907
#3 Peter Jackson (26-5) won the LBF Heavyweight title with a TKO13 over champ John L. Sullivan (25-6). Jackson has now won all the HW titles at least once. Sullivan appeared to be in control of this fight. After losing the first two rounds, Sullivan won the next 7 rounds. He was penalized for rabbit punching in the 7th. He appeared to be running out of gas though in the 8th and 9th. Jackson took advantage and knocked Sullivan down in the 10th. The next 3 rounds were spent with Sullivan on the ropes covering up and clinching. In the 13th round he appeared out on the ropes when the ref stepped in to stop it. I had the fight 113-113 at the time of the stoppage. On the undercard MW - Billy Papke (10-0) KO5 Joe Butler (22-7-1) (big win for Papke) FW - Solly Smith (13-14-3) UD10 Martin Flaherty (5-6-3) WW - Bill Quinn (4-7-1) SD8 Cy Flynn (6-1) ( Flynn fought at pp in this club fight) FW - Sammy Kelly (7-3) SD8 Black Griffo (2-8-1) (Kelly fought at pp in this club fight) WW - Owen Ziegler (6-14) SD10 Harry Lewis (6-11-1) (club fight) |
