And finally...
... saving the literal best until last - the two-time World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates.
OK so obviously with this being my team I have to look at these guys a hell of a lot more often than the others, so I thought we'd see what we can do with a few of them. Not 100% happy with the following: Fred Clarke (1894-1915, though I'm sure you know whom I'm referring to) Ossee Schreckengost (1897-1908), whom I see BBRef is spelling Schrecongost Harry Steinfeldt (1898-1911) Billy Maloney (1901-08) John Malarkey (1894-1903) Danny Hoffman (1903-11) And new recruit Charles Moran (1903-05) just needs a complete going-over. One on the Res Roster so not pictured need work as well: Jack Doscher 1903-08) seems fictional. Thanks a bunch pal, lots of work so as time permits. G

For the 1903 bunch, I have about a dozen of them from the facegen work I did while the world stopped during COVID. I'm going to post those first. I don't still have the actual photo I used but I used the same process now as then. The image is from gettyimages.com, or Google Image search or, esp, for some of these old ones, the primary/alternate pics on bRef. So while you can't readily see a side-by-side in the post to the photo, it shouldn't be too hard to find the image out there if you want to check how close it is. I'll start with those and then work down the list of others.
Also, by doing the screenshot and the .fg file only, I can get two to a post... Let's begin with the Boston Americans, because as the song "Tessie" rains down on the Pirates from 'Nuff Ced's Royal Rooters, they will surely beat your Pirates again ![]() Note that Jake has no Historical Minors ID when I import him so I saved his master facegen file as the bRef Major League Historic ID code... |

Here's that Fred Clarke fella (though yours doesn't look too bad at all) and Ossee what'shisname...
While Mr. Schrecongost has a Historical Minors ID on his bRef page, the in-game import I have on file doesn't show it when I go to "editor" on his player page... so it's missing. Since it might be filled in on the master OOTP file one day, I have made a copy of the face so if they add it, you already have the primary facegen file the game would look for. They don't conflict, so just put both in the file. That's it for the one's I had on file. I'll work through the rest as I did the 1901 batch... Last edited by LansdowneSt; 07-04-2021 at 02:11 PM. |

Here's Charles Moran, not to be confused with Charlie Moran that played around the same time. As a fellow Hoya, I enjoyed this tidbit about him:
The front page of the Washington Times reported a big local signing in December of 1902 for the Washington Senators. They had inked the Georgetown shortstop, Charley Moran, to a contract. Here is an excerpt from the article: "Charley Moran, the clever little shortstop, who captained the Georgetown University baseball team last season and helped the Blue and Gray nine to scalp almost everything it came across, has been signed to play with the Washington American club next year. Lew Drilk, the Georgetown catcher, who signed with the Senators last season, is said to have been instrumental in securing Moran’s services for the Senators. He had had Charley in tow for some time, and it was through him that Moran consented to cast his professional fortunes with the Senators. Moran has an enviable record in college circles, and is considered the crack college shortstop of the country. He will be placed in the infield on the local team. Moran is a Washington boy." Poor Charley Moran … his college dominance did not translate into success on the field with the Senators. He turned out to be quite awful as a professional, completely overmatched. |

I didn't have a Ned Garvin in my pack, so no before to post but folks can see him in your team picture. At 6'3" and 160 lbs, the game makes him thin so you almost have to make the facegen file wide to get a normalized looking, thin face. Here's my best effort on it...
