Cards news: Machado wants to talk extension
Cardinals infielder Manny Machado, acquired in a midseason trade with the Baltimore Orioles, have contacted the team through his agent about discussing a possible extension.
Not long after he was acquired, St. Louis asked Machado what he was looking for. It was absurd, something like an eight-year deal worth $45 million a season, nothing you would even think about doing. The Cardinals countered with a seven-year deal worth about $26 million. This should be an interesting discussion, since the team would really like to keep him. |

Cards notes: Preview of series with Dodgers
The Cardinals completed a four-game win streak against the Pittsburgh Pirates, to extend their lead over the Washington Nationals to 3.5 games for the second NL wild card. They trail wild-card leader Arizona by 2.
But up next is a tough test, as they remain at home to face the NL West Division leading Los Angeles Dodgers in a four-game series. Last edited by rink23; 05-13-2018 at 03:26 AM. |
