Have I missed the quick-start link? This looks like an amazing league and I would love to play it.

Announcement: Argentina Joins International Baseball Federation

New York, NY
July 25, 2016

The International Baseball Federation has announced that two new nations have completed the registration process and have received approval for players to join the IBF universe for the 2016 season. Over the past four years, the league has approved the following nations who have since all had players enter into the international amateur signing period. Those nations were:

2012 - Nicaragua, Curacao, Aruba
2013 - China, Germany, Taiwan
2014 - England
2015 - Brazil, Italy

The first country to be accepted into the IBF for the 2016 IFA process will be Argentina.

Argentina is a massive South American nation with terrain encompassing Andes mountains, glacial lakes and Pampas grassland, the traditional grazing ground of its famed beef cattle. The country is famous for tango dance and music. Its big, cosmopolitan capital, Buenos Aires, is centered on the Plaza de Mayo, lined with stately 19th-century buildings including Casa Rosada, the iconic, balconied presidential palace.

Argentina becomes the 24th member into the IBF, and fourth South American country to be accepted, joining Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil.

While some nations still have legacy players in the IBF, only these 24 countries are permitted to have players registered for either the IBF International Signing period of IBF League Amateur Drafts. As usual, the 2016 drafts and signing period will occur after the Club Champions League, around the first of November.

You can find the quick-start to the 2015 season here.

I totally spaced on putting a 2016 one out, but am making a note to make sure I release one before the 2017 season. The good news is that there's not going to be association expansion next year, so outside of players getting older the quick-starts would be the same. Thanks for showing interest!

Week 7 will be up soon!

2016 IBF Club Rankings

2016 IBF Club Rankings

With the official start of the Canadian Baseball League season, the IBF has released this year’s Club Rankings updated to reflect the results of the 2015 Division I Club Championship:

2016 Club World Cup Announced!

The International Baseball Federation has come together to announce the first ever IBF Club World Cup, to be held in Chicago, Illinois as the reward for Chicago’s 2015 Club Championship victory, this fall. All 24 IBF clubs will be invited to participate in this year’s tournament, which will have a similar format to recent years.

During pool play, there will be 6 groups of 4 teams each. The teams will again compete in a 6 game round robin. The top two teams from each group will advance to the tournament bracket. As there will be 6 groups this year, that will result in a 12 team single-elimination tournament.

Groups for the tournament will be released next month!

2016 VENBL Predictions

The inaugural season of the Venezuela Baseball League is set to get under way this week, and while a very small information on the league is out there, local Venezuelan media has released the following predictions and top players out to the IBF Media located largely in North America:

Some notable things:

- Most of the roster is made up of amateur players, who won't technically have their stats counted by the league due to age restrictions. As such, Venezuelan officials believe the stats for this season could be a bit wonky, but that was the case when the Mexican league started as well. Both Venezuelan teams will compete in the 2016 World Cup, and there's rumblings that teams throughout North America are lobbying the IBF to be placed in their group.

- There were a few notable defections to the new VENBL:

Christian Teslo (CAN), former Dallas outfielder
David Vogel (USA), former Mexico City infielder
Billy Kaufman (USA), former Monterrey infielder
Joseph Warren (USA), former Miami/Dallas closer
Steve Elliott (USA), former Los Angeles pitcher

Not a bad get for a new league in an unstable environment, but that's just proof at how quickly the IBF continues to grow!

The first games and Week 10 will be next!

Working on (yet) another new format with another league added, that I hope to debut for the 2017 season. The new format will be focused on notable players and will just be a running tab on seasonal results so we can keep the focus on the true stars of the world each week. In the meantime, enjoy the playoff races!

One final note: The USABL season will end this coming week, which I actually completely forgot about since the playoff race in that league has been quite dull this year. There will be match-ups decided, but the teams that are currently in are basically assured to be in when the postseason begins in 2 updates from now.

I tried to DL it and import into OOTP15 & 17 but I get this error. Is it only for OOTP 18?

Milo Hoover Inducted into New York Hall of Fame

New York Hall of Fame

New York is proud to induct C Milo Hoover (USA) into their franchise Hall of Fame. Hoover played 5 seasons with New York from 2002 through 2006, and compiled the following stats (team All-Time rank at induction date, where applicable):

Games: 227
At-Bats: 813
Runs: 169 - 3rd
Hits: 250 - 9th
Doubles: 50 - 9th
Triples: 1
Home Runs: 71 - 2nd
RBIs: 213 - 3rd
Stolen Bases: 3
AVG: .308 - 2nd
OPS: 1.049 - 1st
WAR: 16.1 - 2nd

Hoover was an integral part of New York’s early IBF dynasty, winning 4 consecutive MVP Awards with NY from 2003 through 2006. He similarly won 4 All-Star awards at catcher with the club, and won three championships with the club in 2002, 2005, and 2006. Almost a lock to run through all of the IBF’s level of Hall of Fame honors, Hoover was the first true historic player to come through the league and had his best years leading the first dynasty of New York through their best seasons.

Hoover is the first inductee into the New York Franchise Hall of Fame. The now 39 year old will be celebrated on field with his former club in a game later this season.

Oooh, I guess so. I didn't know that it was game-exclusive. If that's the case then yes, I only have the most recent years on '18.

News: South Africa Joins International Baseball Federation

New York, NY
August 22, 2016

Today, the second nation announcement took place inside the IBF offices in New York City. This was a big one, as the IBF has officially moved into their sixth continent with the approval of South Africa as a registered member of the International Baseball Federation. This means that aspiring baseball players from the African nation will be eligible to sign with any of the federation's 24 teams during the upcoming off-season.

Recent History of Registered Nations

2012 - Nicaragua, Curacao, Aruba
2013 - China, Germany, Taiwan
2014 - England
2015 - Brazil, Italy
2016 - Argentina, South Africa

South Africa is a country on the southernmost tip of the African continent, marked by several distinct ecosystems. Inland safari destination Kruger National Park is populated by big game. The Western Cape offers beaches, lush winelands around Stellenbosch and Paarl, craggy cliffs at the Cape of Good Hope, forest and lagoons along the Garden Route, and the city of Cape Town, beneath flat-topped Table Mountain.

South Africa officially becomes the 25th member into the IBF, and first African country to gain admittance!

As a reminder, while some nations still have legacy players in the IBF, only these 25 countries are permitted to have players registered for either the IBF International Signing period of IBF League Amateur Drafts. As usual, the 2016 drafts and signing period will occur after the Club Champions League, around the first of November.

Final standings and league leaders will be released in the next update!

Keep in mind one change for this year? All series are now 4-of-7, so the path for the Wild Card #5 seed becomes even tougher yet.

Klink Inducted into Dallas Hall of Fame

Dallas Hall of Fame

Dallas is excited to induct C Aaron Klink (USA) into their franchise Hall of Fame. Klink played all 11 seasons of his career with Dallas from 2000 through 2010, before retiring due to injury, and compiled the following stats (franchise All-Time rank at induction date, where applicable):

Games: 475 - 3rd
At-Bats: 1745 - 3rd
Runs: 283 - 4th
Hits: 523 - 4th
Doubles: 93 - 4th
Triples: 1
Home Runs: 97 - T-1st
RBIs: 330 - 2nd
Stolen Bases: 0
AVG: .300 - 6th
OPS: .903 - T-1st
WAR: 24.6 - 2nd

Klink’s IBF career started with a bang with his 2000 MVP Award. He continued that excellence throughout the next 10 seasons, ultimately winning 4 All-Star Awards (C) in 2000, 2007, 2009, and 2010 - essentially bookending his main “rival’s” run (Milo Hoover). While Klink was never able to get that elusive championship for his team, he appeared in the playoffs 5 times and hit 2 homeruns in his 15 games there.

Klink is the first inductee into the Dallas Franchise Hall of Fame..

New York has announced their second induction into their franchise Hall of Fame, as 2000 USABL Pitcher of the Year SP Kevin Adkins (USA) into their franchise Hall of Fame. He is NY’s franchise leader in Innings Pitched, and has the 3rd most strikeouts in team history. His 3.09 ERA ranks 2nd in team history, and he’ll be remembered as one of the pillars of the league’s first dynasty.

Adkins is the second member of New York’s franchise Hall of Fame, joining former battery mate Milo Hoover (see below) as a 2016 inductee. The New York Baseball Club Hall of Fame can be attended at the club’s ballpark in Manhattan.

Dallas Inducts Mike Cooper into Franchise Hall of Fame

Dallas Hall of Fame

Like New York, Dallas has today announced their second induction into their franchise Hall of Fame, as two-time USABL Pitcher of the Year SP Mike Cooper (USA) into their franchise Hall of Fame. Cooper was the ace of the team in 2000, 2001, and then again in 2007 before blowing his arm out to return in 2009, and compiled the following stats during his 4 seasons as a Dallas star (franchise All-Time rank at induction date, where applicable):

Games: 42
Games Started: 29 - 10th
Wins: 14 - 9th
Losses: 4
Innings: 201.2 - 9th
Strikeouts: 168
Walks: 46
ERA: 2.37 - 1st
WHIP: 1.07 - 2nd
WAR: 5.4 - 6th

By his numbers, you wouldn’t necessarily think that Cooper “belongs” in any team Hall of Fame. But go around Dallas and ask anyone who put the Dallas Baseball Club on the map, and you’ll hear three names. One of them will be Mike Cooper. After bursting onto the scene with a 5-1 record in 2000, Cooper won 2001 Pitcher of the Year after a 4-0 season and 1.40 ERA in 10 starts. He jumped around after that, but returned in 2007 and put together a 5-1, 3.16 ERA season before blowing his arm out and becoming a bullpen guy to end his career. Cooper’s career was not long - he was 34 when the IBF opened shop - but it was highly productive and the committee and franchise both believe he earned a cemented legacy with a plaque in Dallas.

Cooper is the second member of Dallas’ franchise Hall of Fame, joining former battery mate Aaron Klink (see below) as a 2016 inductee. The Dallas Baseball Club Hall of Fame can be attended at the club’s ballpark in Dallas, Texas.
