WBA MW title
Matthew Macklin came to France for a nice summer holiday defense and had no problems dispatching Kassimou Mouhamadou via an 8th round combo KO @ 1:12 of the round.
It was his 6th title defense and improves his impressive record to 31-2-1 with 24 KO's. |

Freddie Roach
He really seems to have made Gabe Rosado a puncher in my uni - Gabe's 2nd fight with Roach @ 154 is now 7-1 with his 2nd KO in a row under Roach.
Now 7-1 with 3 KO's, previous win by stoppage a cut TKO. |

WBO JMW title
Making his 2nd defense, Patrick Teixeria had a tougher go of it than expected from the tall American, Alantez Fox.
Fox at 6-4 was able to outbox PT & was ahead on 2 of the 3 cards (87-86, 89-85, 85-86) until the 10th when Pat decided to really go after Fox & knocked him out with a beautiful left cross @ 2:38 of the round. Fox also was ahead in PL: 207 (34%) to 194 (24%). |

The Tank invades Italy!
Former Jr. Lightweight champ, Tank Davis, came to Italy for his 2nd fight @ 135 to face Emiliano Marsili, the crafty Italian with 3 of the belts - the WBA version up for grabs tonight.
Masili took the WBA version from Robert Easter by 15SD, the IBF from Ismael Barroso by 15UD & the WBO by 15UD from Javier Fortuna so he was not awed by Tank. Maybe he should have been because instead of trying to outbox the powerful American, he decided to stand & trade. That worked for the 1st 2 rounds as the cards reflected a close fight (20-18, 18-20, 19-19) but in the 3rd Tank just decided to unload & the ref was forced to step in @ 2:56 of the round to save the brave Italian from further punishment. Tank even came in soft around the middle but it didn't matter as he brought plenty of power up with him to Lightweight! |

A star is born!
Fighting for the vacant WBO LW title, Ryan Garcia blew away Jackson Marinez (from the DR) by a 1st round TKO @ 2:49 of the round.
Ryan outpunched Jackson 61 to 7 in PL forcing the ref to stop the onslaught. Meanwhile down in Australia, another hot prospect moved to 4-0 (all KO's) as Tim Tszyu looked spectacular with a 3rd round combo KO (2:22) landing 68% of his punches to only 12% for Gerald Reed (111-24 in PL). |

Slugfest in Thailand!
Jamontay Clark recently won the IBO JWW title via a cut TKO win over Denis Shafikov & agreed to face the WBO champ, Apinun Khongsong, in his homeland.
In what turned out to be quite the epic battle & a 6 knockdown affair (4 for AP & 2 for Clark), Apinum won the unification fight via a 15UD - 142-136, 140-139 & 141-138. AP edged Clark on PL as well: 367 (26%) to 354 ( 34%). |

For WBA fights yes but all 3 have to be in the same round that causes the ref to stop the fight. All 6 KD's happened in different rounds over the 15. Last edited by hamed2; 07-12-2021 at 03:36 PM. |

Vacant WBA JMW title
The belt became vacant when Greg Vendetti chose to fight the IBF champ rather than face Jeison Rosario - his mandatory.
So Rosario headed to Australia to face Daniel Lewis for the belt in quite a fight! The 5th was a round of the year candidate as Lewis dropped Jeison with an uppercut only to have Jeison drop Lewis later in the same round with a combo. A flash KD at the end of the 7th for a 1 count had Lewis feeling pretty good. However in the 9th Jeison went for broke, he had Lewis hurt (RES -red) when the ref stepped in to stop the carnage @ 2:54. Rosario was up on all 3 cards: 76-74, 78-72 & 77-73 as well as PL: 272 (43%) to 176 (26%). Last edited by hamed2; 07-18-2021 at 10:20 AM. |

IBO JMW title
Making his 5th title defense, Jermell Charlo came to England to face the unbeaten Brit - James Metcalf.
Charlo dropped James in the 7th with a combo & almost took him out but the gutsy challenger held on until the end of the round. Despite having both eyes swell (yellow), Jermell cruised to a 15UD: 147-137 & 146-138 twice. James suffered a cut over his right eye & had orange level swelling of his left eye as well. PL: 473 (42%) to 165 (13%) for the champ who is now 16-1 with 4 KO's. |

2 fights from London
Tony Bellew wanted to keep sharp so he made a summer return hardly working up a sweat as he dispatched Ben Askren with an uppercut @ 2:32 of the 1st.
It was Tony's 5th defense of his WBC CW title & is now 14-0, all KO's @ CW. (This makes the 3rd time in 5 title defenses that Tony ended the fight with an uppercut). The fight most came to see however was Conor Benn fighting for the British WW title against the champ - Joe Laws. Joe obnoxiously sang & danced his way into the ring to "Breaking the Law" once again. He should have saved his energy as Conor dropped him in the 1st with a hook & then 8 more times over 12 rounds finally ending the fight @ 2:46 of the 12th with a rib shot. The cards reflected Conor's dominating performance: 109-93, 107-94 & 108-94. At least Joe kept getting up in this fight, when he tried for the WBA strap earlier this year, he was starched in the 2nd by Nick Flaz. Last edited by hamed2; 09-26-2021 at 03:12 PM. |

LOL - you bet Coiler & you said it! My brother's a MMA fan (in addition to boxing) & asked what you rated Ben, he said that sounds about right! A great wrestler though apparently. What's nice about this outcome, had they fought - this is pretty much what I see happening. Last edited by hamed2; 08-02-2021 at 02:00 PM. |

IBF CW title
Beibet Shumenov won the title by knocking out Richard Hall in the 10th round & in his 1st defense, BS knocked out Nate Robinson with an uppercut - also in the 10th.
For his 2nd defense, former UFC champ, Tyron Woodley was chosen. The good news is Tyron lasted longer than 10 rounds, the bad news is he took a hell of a beating until the ref stepped in due to right eye swelling (Red) @ 1:32 of the 14th. Beibet dropped Tyron in the 9th with an upper for a 5 count & basically dominated the fight as both the cards & PL reflect: 129-116 & 130-115 twice. BS ahead on PL: 510 (48%) to 101 (10%). Beibet moves to 6-0, all KO's @ CW. Thanks to Coiler for making Tyron! Last edited by hamed2; 09-11-2021 at 11:37 AM. |

Axeman vs. Sniper
WBC Super Feather champ - Nicholas Walters was having a pretty good year, back in the Spring he destroyed Miguel Berchelt in 3 rounds for his 7th title defense & then in the summer, he dropped to 126 to fight WBO Jr Light champ Leo Santa Cruz for the vacant IBO FW title - Walters won that by UD.
Now he faced former IBF JLW champ - Jose Pedraza. Jose lost his title years ago when Miguel Marriaga knocked him out in the 15th in a tight fight. Today, in the 2nd round, Axeman sent Jose down with a right cross for a 4 count so it looked like it might be a short night. However in the 4th, Jose returned the favor with a right hook that sent the champ down for a 7 count. From that point forward Jose put on quite a boxing display to win rather easily on the cards: 146-137, 144-139 & 144-140. PL: 348 (25%) to 308 (30%) also for Jose. |

WBO SMW title
A fight that started out as a snoozer with the crowd booing for the 1st few rounds turned out to be a real corker eventually between 2 aging warriors.
It appeared father time had caught up with defending champ, Errol Christie, (making his 1st defense) as Marco Antonio Rubio (16 years his junior) looked to take control. This was especially true in the 8th when a combo & then a hook sent Errol down 2 times in the round - both for 2 counts. An angry Christie returned in the 9th and a hook to the liver sent Marco down for a 4 count. Errol would not be denied & just kept punching until the ref stepped in @ 1:47 of the round. PL were almost even - 150 (15%) for Errol to 149 (28%) for Rubio. Rubio in command on the cards: 77-74 & 78-73 twice. Errol is now 16-2-1 @ 168, not a bad record for a 2 rated fighter. |

The Huntington Beach Bad Boy
Shocks the boxing world today in France by taking the WBA CW title from Steve Herelius via a 6th round DQ!
Making his 3rd defense, Steve appeared in control landing 141 punches (31%) to 36 (10%) for Tito. Referee Stanley Christoudoulou warned Steve in the 2nd for rabbit punching & then in the 5th for low blows & Stan took a point so the 3rd time was the charm for more low blows & he ended the fight @ 1:01 of the round making Tito the new champ! For some reason the Canadian judge had the fight even @ 47 each while the other 2 had Steve up 49-45. |
