Commish got a new job and moved, so we've been a little slow. We're still going, its just been slow for about 2 months.

Where did he go?

After 228 Minor League Home Runs, my relative (Wallace Stinson) finally made it to the big show. He appeared in one game, and now I cant find him on any roster....did he call it quits? get released? or just disappear to a field in Iowa?

He could be sitting in the DFA block. Somewhere that doesn't show on the roster screen. Opening day should be tomorrow (I think) so he'll pop up somewhere.

Yes, Stinson is currently DFA by Philly. He was in AAA at the end of last season, so I'm not sure why he'd be DFA now.

ok to get this fired back up again, I'll be starting to re-create the reports that we used to have in this thread before the big crash. Unlike last time, I've learned to save them

So without furthur ado, let's start where we left off, the 1959 Post Season.

not a prob. I'll probably miss something along the ways, but if you see anything that I've missed or made a mistake on, post away.

Also if you'd like to help out, please view this thread here -> http://www.southernbaseball.com/modu...er=asc&start=0

It'll keep everything centralized so stuff sin't double posted.

Thought I'd give this a bump, since the league is returning to life.

Vodka Allen retired in the middle of 1971. 374 minor league HR's (four straight seasons of 50, one year hitting 72). He finally got a chance in the bigs with expansion, and ended up hitting 222 major league HR's.

Rye Allen played in the big for 13 seasons with the Tigers and Mets. 174 career HR's, he won three gold gloves.

Tommy "Teetotaler" Allen has played for nine years with the Twins. Five gold gloves from 1966-71 thanks to his cannon arm behind the plate. Sort of a respectable bat, looks worse than it was due to the low offense of the 60s. Was great in the 1968 World Series as the Twins won the title.

Matt reduced the "next generation" of Allens to two, since the prior generation sort of got out of hand (and none of them after Bourbon Jr. really turned out to do very well). The two are:

J.B. "Whiskey IV" Allen

5th overall pick in the 1969 draft, he comes from the erractic Whiskey Jr. branch of the family. He's taken a few ratings hits since the draft, and now in the expansion Royals farm system. Looks like he might turn out to be as good as his grandfather, the infamous Whiskey Jr.

Adam "Bourbon III" Allen

Looking at a discussion with Matt on the Allens, that was the tentative name Matt was looking at for Bourbon Jr's son. He looks penciled for the 1974 draft, with the standard Allen Birthday of July 4, being born in 1952. He'd be 21 when hitting the draft, coming out of college ("First Allen to go to college."). The name Adam would be from Bourbon Jr's White Sox teammate and best friend in 1952, future Hall of Famer Adam Sardina. The "Bourbon Branch" always seemed to be the more sober branch of the family, hence his dad naming the boy after a friend rather than the typical booze ones. :P

Bourbon and Bourbon Jr. both made it to the Hall of Fame (as of course did the original Whiskey Allen himself). Matt planned on concentraiting a crapload of talent in young Bourbon Allen III to the point that he likely will be the #1 overall pick. Scouts who've seen the freshman pitch for LSU this season raved about his amazing control for one so young, and the wicked movement he has.

"He reminds me so much of his father that it's like going back 20 years in a time machine."
-Yankees GM John Young (former teammate of Bourbon Jr.)

So even if Whiskey IV turns out like his father and grandfather (i.e. drinking his career away), the family line looks to be in good hands when Bourbon III pops up in 1974.
