Is there a comprehensive list anywhere of the house rules? I'm taking the Colt .45s next year, so I need to bone up fast (I haven't been following this thread for a while). Do you use 6.12 or 6.5a?

We use 6.12 and if you go to the league website, click on the Rules link. Everything should be there, but it was written for 1946 so be sure to check the "historical rules timeline" for changes. Also, feel free to post questions in the rules/setup section of the league forums. There's plenty of people around to help. There's also a NL expansion discussion going on.

Ditto what Matt said. I just joined at the start of the 1960 season Elendil, and I just read through the rules page, etc and got pretty up to speed.
I'd especially recommend perusing the Waivers stuff, as that was one thing I didn't have as much experience in personally coming in.
Also, read a lot of the boards and you'll get a good idea of the league.

Welcome!

John

Just don't be scared off by the sniping between GMs. The NL isn't *that* dysfunctional. We're just very very competitive.

Well, personally I'm pretty dysfunctional, but that more effects my day-to-day life than TWB.

Gotta watch Wapner....gotta watch Wapner....252 toothpicks in the box....252....Wapner...

Competitive, yeah that's what we'll call it. Other's might prefer bloodsport.

Looking forward to the NL expansion and having my own team again.

Just read the rules and think I'm pretty well up to speed now. One question: when you arrange a trade, do most GM's prefer PM's on the TWB forum or emails?

I've almost always arranged trades via PM. I've only sent one trade e-mail that I can recall. It's just been easier to do PM and I think most people prefer that.

GM's tend to be on the forums regularly so PM works well. Be sure you're up to speed on waivers. Basically, any trades after the WS until opening day require no waivers. Only trades to the other league from OD thru 6/15 require waivers (within your own league only). Then all trades from 6/16 to the WS require waivers (thru both leagues). Waivers is only for players with major league experience.

For this league PMs. Don't think I've gotten an e-mail from any GM. Most GMs check in on at the league website every day. (Some rarely leave)

Thanks for resurrecting the old dinosaur. I've often wanted to get back to updating this but I lost a few years in the server crash & just don't have time to recreate them. Too bad though.
