Free Agency Pt. 1
November 18th, 2030: Free Agents file today and I have a little over $40 million to offer! The top 10 Free Agents in no perticular order are:
RHP Colten Panaranto 2B Ghordy Santos RHP D.J. Jefferson 3B Kelvin Beltre RHP Sergio Morales 1B Matt Wallner CF Treyjn Fletcher 3B Fernando Tatis Jr. LHP Jeff Hormann RHP Edwin Diaz I need to really improve my infield with three guys leaving (Reid, Smith, and Tatis Jr.), as well as an upgrade in the pen or rotation. November 20th, 2030: The Senators sent RHP Jeff Garland and 1B Juan Sirias to the Rangers for SS Murdoch Ledlow. I like this deal for the Rangers. November 22nd, 2030: To protect them from the Rule-5 Draft, I purchased the contracts of Sean Clark and Juan Virto. November 23rd, 2030: The Senators kept dealing, acquiring RHP Esteban Contreras from the Tigers for LF Nobuo Kaneko and LF Tim Awuah. I like this deal for both teams. November 24th, 2030: I submitted my Hall of Fame Ballot today: LF Ryan Braun 2B Robinson Cano SP Felix Hernandez LF Matt Holliday RF Nick Markakis C Yadir Molina C Buster Posey CL Francisco Rodriguez SP Max Scherzer SP Justin Verlander Scherzer, JV, Braun, and Cano are all withing striking distance of indductions. November 26th, 2030: The Blue Jays pulled a Jorge Flores on me, and signed 3B Fernando Tatis Jr. to a 4-year, $92.8 million deal after trading him to me in the offseason. I'll get a compensation pick for him leaving. That wasn't the only big deal, as the Yankees broke the bank for star CF Trejyn Flethcher. Fletcher will make $343,400,000 for 8 seasons, including a 550 plate appearence vesting option for 2038. He's a career .287/.352/.500 hitter with 163 homers, 490 RBI's, and 118 steals. He's a 3-Time Gold Glover and one of the best players in the league. The Cubs signed former Yankee LF Riley Greene to a 7-year, $42.5 million per year deal with a opt out after year 3 and a 135 game vesting option in 2037. The 30-year-old was selected by the Yankeesin the 1st Round in 2020, and he owns a career .279/.363/.462 triple slash with 132 homers, 441 RBI's, and 148 steals. One more big signing as the Expos signede 29-year-old LF Takuhiro Takemoto to a 5-year, $102.7 millio deal with the final season a player option. Takemoto, a Japanese slugger from the Nippon Professional League looks like a superstar with 95 rated power and 4.5* overall. Finally, a trade, as the Athletics sent RHP Dave Kinser, RHP Danny Hager, and cash considerations to the Reds for LHP Ben Morrow, RF Dane Horton, LF Chris Stinson, and RHP Chris Brummell. I love this deal for the Reds, although they are betting on Kisner's ratings not his stats. November 29th, 2030: The Ryas sent LHP Chris Villaman to the Orioles for LF Larry Ernesto and LHP Talbot Daig. It's a good trade for Baltimore. December 3rd, 2030: Lots of signings before the Winter Meetings started! The Indians signed 3B Buddy Kennedy to a 5-year, $15.4 million per year deal. The former Diamondback and Cardinal owns a .247/.314/.478 line with 197 homers and 567 RBI's. The Rays signed former Marlin 1B Seth Beer to a 3-year, $43 million deal, with the final year a 135 game vesting option. The sluffer has a .249/.361/.491 line with 251 homers and 671 RBI's. The Royals signed SS Ahmed Rosario to a 2-year deal. The first year is guaranteed for $9.7 million while the second a 550 plate appearence vesting option at $8.7 million. He topped 550 last year with the Giants, and owns a career .267/.307/.404 line with 112 homers and 637 RBI's. The Nashville Vultures signed 3B Sincere Lahens to a 6-year, $20.4 million per year deal with a opt out after the third season. The longtime Twin has a .250/.320/.411 line with 106 homers and 467 RBI's. He's also picked up 3 Gold Gloves with elite defense at the hot corner. Lastly, the Blue Jays signed RHP Nate Blind to a 3-year, $17.2 million per year deal. In 454 relief appearences, he has a 4.34 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 504 strikeouts in 467 innings. He turned in a dominant year with the Dodgers this year, with a 2.15 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 77 strikeouts in 71 innings. December 4th, 2030: Three trades on the Winter Meetings Eve! The Mariners acquired SS Caiden Matheny from the crosstown Pilots for LHP Steve Sellers, 3B Nesty Moreno, and LHP Mike Nuckolls. I like this deal for the Pilots. The Rays acquired LHP Bobby Lee from the Braves for RHP Sergio Zapata. It's a fair swap for both teams. The Padres acquired SS Juan Garibo from the Diamondbacks for RHP Dan Patterson. I like this deal for Arizona. December 5th, 2030: The Winter Meetings start today! The Dodgers signed 1B Matt Wallner to a 5-year, $147.6 million deal with the final season a 135 game vesting option valued at $28.2 million. Walner has played over 135 games in every full season except a rough 2027. The longtime Ray has a .258/.353/.538 triple slash with 366 homers and 954 RBI's. LA will be the second organization for Wallner who has been a Ray since they selected him in the 5th Round of the 2019 draft. The Royals signed Jamie Callahan to a 2-year, $18.4 million per year deal with the second year a 40 games finished vesting option. Callahan has 312 career saves with a 3.17 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 836 innings, mostly with the Mets, as well as two seasons with the Cubs. He's struck out 1,034 and walked 345. The Cubs signed former Marlin Luis Alcantra to a 1-year, $20.4 million deal. They plan on using him as a starting pitcher, despite just 16 career starts. He's 29-25 with 11 saves and a 3.82 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP and 529 strikeouts. The Marienrs acquired LHP Dilmer Mejia from the Padres for LHP Stephon Juste and RHP Tim Espinoza. I like this deal for both teams. The Dodgers acquired RHP Connor Van Scoyoc from the Padres for RHP Rogelio Luna, 1B Juan Verduzco, and C Juan Reyna. I'd give the edge to the Padres in this one, but it's close. The Giants acquired former Marlin 2B Devonte Brown from the White Sox for LHP Joe Horton and RHP Luis Arechiga. It's a nice trade for the Giants. I made a swap of my own, sending 2B Chris Charvat and C Esteban Moreno to the Athletics for RHP Danny Dempsey. Dempsey, 25, is rated a 2.5/3.5 as a relief pitcher, although he could pitch as a starter if needed. A former 2nd Round Pick of the Rockies, he made his debut this year with Oakland, tossing 74 innings with a 4.74 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. He's got plus-plus stuff, plus control, and average movement. He tosses a elite fastball, plus slider, plus change, and average forkball. He hits 96-98 consistently and is an extreme groundballer. December 6th, 2030: Today was a crazy day! The Cubs signed RHP Seth Halvorsen to a 1-year, $6.6 million deal. Not sure why this was a headline, but the 30-year-old is 57-50 with a 4.30 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 196 games (165 starts). 38-year-old RF Bryce Harper made a return to where it all started, signing a 3-year, $68.2 million deal with the Nationals. Harper has a .283/.400/.525 career line with 601 homers and 1,598 RBI's in 9,500 at bats. The Cubs signed former Marlin Juan Toribio toa 1-year, $23.8 million deal. He was 4-3 with a 2.92 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with us this year. The Blue Jays signed RHP Chris Helmick to a 4-year, $67.2 million deal. He's 64-57 with a 4.22 ERA and 1.32 WHIPin 196 career starts. The Astros acquired SS C.J. Abrams from the Padres for RHP Murdoch McFadyen, C Josh Manning, and RHP Ernesto Prado. I actually like this deal for the Astros. The Rays sent C Ben Quinn and 1B Josh McNaney to the Expos for LF Tyrese Ephron and RHP Caleb Carre. It's a steal for the Rays. The Vultures sent LF Vincente Sanchez to the Tigers for RHP Nivaldo Pool. I like this deal for Nashville. The Indians sent RHP Nate Moss to the Diamondbacks for RF Chris Gibson. I really wish I knew Moss was available, and I would've given them much more. The Vultures sent RHP Dominic Pipkin to the Orioles for SS Andy del Real and RHP Eric Hack. I like this team for both teams, although I don't think Pipkin is the answer to the Orioles pitching problems. Lastyl, the Reds and White Sox swapped rightfielders. Porter Brown would go to the Reds and Luis Orellana to the White Sox. It's a good swap. December 7th, 2030: Today was much, much more calm... The Rays sent 2B Andrew Vaughn to the Giants for RHP Jamie Kidd, 1B Brenden DeLarge, and 2B Ernesto Silva. I like this deal for the Giants. The A's sent RHP Jacob Maton to Arizona for RHP Juan Rosales and RHP Dave Emrick. I like this deal for Oakland. I worked on a few trades of ny own today as well. I made a deal that I may end up regretting, sending Pat Saitta (35% retained) and Charles King to the Expos for Rodolfo Esquilin. Saitta has fallen off a cliff, and I really don't want to have to pay all that money later on. Esquilin, 24, is a 2.5/3.5* lefty reliever. He's 5-10 with a 4.13 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 133 innigns with 103 strikeouts and 66 walks. He's got plus-plus stuff, plus movement, and plus control, as well as the arsenal and stamina to start. He tosses a average sinker, elite curveball, and average splitter. He's also a good leader. December 8th, 2030: The Winter Meetings end today! The Rays dealt longtime starter Jacob Faria to the Twins for RHP Dwain Goyette, RHP Jon Tippin, and 2B Luis Gutierres. It's an okay deal for Tampa, but it's like if I traded Jordan Montgomery away for an uninspiring haul. The Pilots sent RHP Jorge Moya and C Steve Witte to the Rangers for RHP Juan Morales and LHP Jorge Flores. The Rangers also recieved cash to help with Moya's salary. I like this deal for Texas. The Blue Jays sent CF Sergio Orrostieta, LF Joe Gush, and LF Jim Cross to the Giants for RHP John Swanda. I like this deal for the Giants. December 11th, 2030: The Rangers signed RF Brett Phillip sto a 3-year, $15.4 million per year deal. He has a .249/.324/.506 career line with 446 homers and 1,182 RBI's. December 12th, 2030: Just a day later, the Rangers brought RF Luis Roebrt back on a 3-year, $33.7 million deal. He spent the last two years with Texas, and owns a career .274/.351/.449 line with 116 homers and 527 RBI's. December 13th, 2030: The Tigers added LHP Justin Wrobleski from the White Sox for RF Austin Hays. It's an even enough deal. December 14th, 2030: The Dodgers acquired RHP Jorge Santibanez from the Indians for LHP R.J. Sedwick and RHP Jim Spaulding. It's a nice swap for both parties. December 15th, 2030: The Rule-5 Draft is today! I selected 1B Luis Mora from the Red Sox. I also lost LHP Jeff Doer to the Pilots. Mora, 24, is rated a 2.5/3.5 and is an elite defender at first. The lefty can also play a little in the outfield and has great speed. He's a former 3rd Round Pick by Boston. He's got plus contact, plus-plus gap power, plus home run power, and a plus eye. He actually got a cup of coffee with Boston in 2029, going 1-for-7 in 3 games. December 19th, 2030: I made a pair of big signings, starting with bringing back 2B Jon Reid on a 5-year, $12.7 million per year with the final season a player option. The 2030 World Series MVP has just a .238/.314/.359 career line with 19 homers, 18 steals, and 135 RBI's, but he's valuable in more ways. He's an elite fielder at second, third, and short, he's got great speed, and he is beloved in Miami. He's considered a "local icon" in South Beach and has been a valuable piece off the bench and in the lineup since we claimed him off waivers. The next signing is way bigger, where I signed 3B Takeshi Kino****a to a 7-year, $182 million deal where he can opt into arbitration after three seasons if he'd like to. A 26-year-old from Japan, he dominated the Nippon Professional League. He's rated a 4.5* with plus contact, plus-plus power, an elite eye, and he'll almost never strike out. He's not the best defender, but he's got a great arm. I DFA'd Doug Parsons to free up a 40 man spot to fit both acquisitions. December 21st, 2030: The Phillies signed longtime Giant 2B Ghordy Santos to a 6-year, $115.8 million contract. The 31-year-old switch hitter has a .266/.358/.440 career line with 201 homers, 193 steals, and 646 RBI's. The Mariners added LHP Jackson Gillis to a 1-year, $25.6 million deal. Not sure what they saw in him, but he did have a great year with the Cubs, going 4-3 with a 2.83 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 62 games with 7 starts. His career numbers are less promising, a 4.37 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. December 22nd, 2030: Nashville signed SS Masyn Winn to a 4-year, $54.8 million dael. The career Philly owns a .257/.328/.363 line with 38 homers, 104 steals, and 189 RBI's in an injury riddled career. The Dodgers signed LHP Jay Groome to a 3-year, $9.7 million per year deal. He has a 4.11 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 1,044 innings with 936 strikeouts. They also added lefty Carlos Leandro to a 1-year, $7.3 million deal. He owns a 4.13 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 508.1 innings with the Rays and Doves. The Royals signed RHP Axsel Jimenez to a 1-year, $21.8 million deal. He was a Royal from 2022-2029 before he spent a season in Cincy. He owns a 3.90 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 403 games with 66 starts. I outrighted Parsons to AAA. December 26th, 2030: The Twins signed LF Johan Sala to a 3-year, $4,360,000 per year deal. He has a .238/.359/.396 career line with 143 homers, 129 steals, and 435 RBI's in 4,715 at bats with the Angels and Tigers. December 27th, 2030: The Rays signed 3B Kelvin Beltre to a 4-year, $18.2 million deal. He owns a career .251/.329/.472 line with 268 homers and 740 RBI's. The Orioles extended 3B Juan Alfredo Walls. Starting in 2032, he'll make $135,600,000 over the life of a new 5-year deal. A 3rd Rounder of the Orioles, Walls has a .269/.376/.511 line with 228 homers and 664 RBI's. December 29th, 2030: Former Marlin Noah Smith signed a 5-year, $129.6 million deal, and I wish I offered him a qualifying offer I was afraid he'd accept. The 28-year-old spent three years with the Nats and Marlins, combinging for a .270/.338/.379 line with 51 homers, 152 steals, and 335 RBI's. December 30th, 2030: The Mets signed LHP Jairo Labourt to a 3-year, $30.6 million deal. The former Marlin has 200 career saves with a 3.61 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Another former Marlin southpaw Alpha Quivers signed a 2-year, $40 million deal with the Blue Jays. He has 131 career saves in 723.1 innings with 986 strikeouts. He has a nice 1.05 WHIP and 3.37 ERA as well. 2031 is next! |

Free Agency Pt. 2
January 1st, 2031: Happy New Year! Former Marlin Ignacio Hinojos signed a 3-year, $49.6 million deal with the Braves. He started last year with the Nationals, and went 8-11 with a 3.80 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 33 starts with 199 strikeouts.
I claimed RHP Eric Hack off waivers from the Vultures. A former 10th Round Pick of the Orioles, he was traded by Baltimore to the Vultures in December. Hack will be sent to Jacksonville. January 2nd, 2031: The Vultures acquired RHP Chandler Murphy from the Angels for C James Free and RHP Alvin Rinker. It's a great deal for the Angels. January 3rd, 2031: Longtime Dodger C Keibert Ruiz signed a 4-year, $116.8 million deal with the Nationals. He has a career .292/.352/.462 line with 144 homers and 609 RBI's. The 10-Time All Star was one of the best catchers of this era. For the first time since 2021, Joe LaBrie will play with the Braves, the team that drafted him. He signed a 4-year, $76 million contract. He's a career 74-73 with a 4.12 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 1,313.2 innings. He struck out 1,131 and walked 419 in 265 games (245 starts). January 5th, 2031: The Red Sox recieved LHP Peter Carreras from the Expos for 2B Eli Frick, C Dwain Eager, and RHP T.J. Acklin. I like this for Boston. January 7th, 2031: I made a big signing, agreeing to a 5-year, $50.5 million contract with Cuban righty Juan Razo, with the final year a player option. He's a 5* righty with 100 rated stuff, elite movement, and plus control. He averages 95-97 with his sinker and he's an extreme groundball pitcher. To free up room on the 40-Man, I traded LF Josh Madrigal to the Tigers for CF Jay-hoon Kym. Kym, 23, was a former 12th Round Pick by the Tigers. The Missouri Native is rateed with two star potential. He's got elite speed, elite range, and is an elite defender in center. He's got plus eye and is a decent left handed hitter. He'll head to Jacksonville. The Blue Jays signed RHP Christian Scott to a 1-year, $19 million contract. He owns a 4.03 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 609 innings with 746 strikeouts and 319 walks with Tampa and the Angels. January 8th, 2031: We have a nice 4-man Class of 2031 for the Hall of Fame. Ryan Bruan (2nd, 87.0), Max Scherzer (3rd, 82.7), Robinson Cano (5th, 80.8), and Justin Verlander (7th, 78.8) will all head to the Hall of Fame. Buster Posey (52.4) was th enext closest with Matt Holliday (37.1) trailing farther behind. January 12th, 2031: The Tigers signed reigning Cy Young Winner Jeff Hormann to a 7-year, $277.5 million contract, with the final season a team option. The Royal All-Star is 74-63 with a 4.14 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 251 games (213 starts) with 1,105 strikeouts and 337 walks. January 14th, 2031: With such a good option available, I had to make a reunion with RF Jarred Kelenic on a very affordable 1-year, $1,610,000 deal. The 34-year-old Kelenic hit .289/.379/.457 with 14 homers and 62 RBI's in his first season with Washington after four years in Miami. To free space on the 40, I sent LF Juan Virto to the Mariners for CL Pete Werner. Werner, 23, is a lefty reliever rated a 2.5/4.5. He was selected by the Mariners with the 26th Overall Pick in 2029. He's got 100 rated stuff potential with plus-plus control. He tosses 93-95 with a 100 rated curveball and plus-plus cutter. On to the preseason, it gets boring after that! |

Preseason
Sidenote: So, funny story! Turns out, my file had a bunch of mistakes (I was already in April and a very impressive 10-2...), and the damage done was impossible to fix. I thought the dynasty would be ruined, and while ending on a high note would've been good, I couldn't give up this dynasty. Luckily, I backup right before the preseason, and I will pick things right back up now, even though it will appear like nothing was lost.
Back to fake baseball! January 27th, 2031: The preseason starts today! A few affiliation changes to mock real life occured. Oakland will take over the Las Vegas 51s, the Astros will take over the Round Rock Express, the Rangers will take over the Sounds, but I am going to re-brand them. They will become the Tucson Toros, a former AAA affiliate of the Rangers. I got the logo down, and attempted to re-create the jerseys and hat. The Fresno Grizzlies will be owned by the Nationals, although this is subject to change. I'd like to bring them closer to D.C., but I'd need to find somehwere else for the Grizzlies. Some injury moves: Andy Neidig will head to the 10-Day DL and Dan-zu Hoong the 60-Day DL. I made a nice trade, sending 2B Luis Alvarado to the Dodgers for LHP Josh Cronin, who they for some reason put on waivers. Cronin, 28, is rated a 3.5* with elite stuff, average movement, and plus control. He throws a fastball and sinker around 92-94 mph from a sidearm slot. A former 3rd Rounder of the Blue Jays, Cronin has accumulated 281.1 big league innings with the Dodgers. He's 8-16 with 9 saves, a 4.61 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and he's tallied 296 strikeouts. January 29th, 2031: The Brewers signed SP D.J. Jefferson to a 2-year, $82.5 million deal. Year 1 is worth $38.5 million with Year 2 a $44 million option. The 30-year-old is 30-48 with a 4.28 ERA and 1.39 WHIP, so on the surface this looks like a vast overpay. He is, however, a stud with injury problems, so the risk could outweigh the reward. February 2nd, 2031: I made a minor deal, sending Sam Minniefield to the Athletics for SS Greg Turney. Turney, 25, is an elite defender who, if he can hit his way in the majors, can win his share of Gold Gloves. A former 14th Round Pick of the Rangers, he's reached AA for the first time last season. February 3rd, 2031: Four relievers signed today. Former Marlin Phil Maton agreed to a 1-year, $5.8 million deal. Another former Marlin Joe Jimenez signed a 1-year, $5.6 million deal. A third former Marlin Victor Arano signed a 1-year, $5.2 million deal with Arizona. The final, Chris Cervantes, who has never played a Major League game before, signed a 2-year, $10.7 million deal with the Dodgers. February 5th, 2031: The Blue Jays signed RHP Edwin Diaz to a 3-year, $65.4 million deal. He's tallied 422 saves with a 2.88 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in over 14 big league seasons. February 6th, 2031: The White Sox signed LF Kyle Tucker to a 3-year, $11.8 million per year deal, with the final season a player option. He has a career .293/.352/.532 line with 374 homers and 1,127 RBI's, and spent the past three seasons on the North Side. February 8th, 2031: The Royals signed RF Victor Robles to a 1-year, $5.9 million deal. He's a career .265/.360/.425 hitter with 138 homers, 590 RBI's, and 313 steals. Best known for his time with the Nationals, who he spent 2017-2029 as a mainstay in the Nationals lineup. February 19th, 2031: I made a small deal, sending LF Chi-yong Kym to the Expos for RF Chad Grabner. Grabner, 25, is a 2.5/3* who was formerly selected by the Mariners in the 18th Round out of UCLA. A slugging lefty, he's an average defender in right, but has an absolute cannon of an arm. He's got plus-plus power and an elite eye at the plate, and rarley strikes out. He has a down year in the White Sox organization last year, but I'm really betting on his raw tools. February 22nd, 2031: The Athletics sent RHP Ernesto Flores to the Orioles for CF Sergio Trevino and RHP Amari Linnear. It's an even enough deal. February 23rd, 2031: The Detroit Tigers signed RHP Eric Crawford to a 1-year, $8 million deal. The 29-year-old has a ton of talent, but hasn't had the most success. In 483.1 big league innings, he has a 4.02 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 208 strikeouts and 96 saves. On to the spring! |

Spring Training
Sidenote: My 3B Takeshi Kinosh-ita get's "censored" because of the way his name is spelled, so just know that the four * are unavoidable because you can't type "s h i t" without getting censored
February 26th, 2031: With the start of Spring Training, I called up a ton of non-roster invitees to the join the big league club in preparing for the regular season. I claimed 23-year-old lefty Bubba Brown off waivers from Detroit, and invited him to spring training. Rated a 1.5/2.5* as a starter, Brown was the 25th Overall Pick in 2026 by the Tigers. He's got plus stuff and movement, tosses four piches, and is an extreme groundballer. February 27th, 2031: Japanese signing Takeshi Kino****a will head to the DL with a hip flexor strain, although he'll return in 2 weeks. March 4th, 2031: A tough spring injury for former Dimaondback SP A.J. Alexy. The 32-year-old damaged his elbow ligament beyond repair, and he will be forced to retire. A former 11th Round Pick way back in 2016, the righty bounced around a ton. He'll finish his career 25-30 with 3 saves in 118 games (90 starts) with a 4.38 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 357 strikeouts. March 5th, 2031: I activated Andy Neidig from the disabled list. March 8th, 2031: It's been a rough spring, as another pitcher was forced to retired. 27-year-old Jorge Mota of the Expos also had a damaged elbow ligament beyong repair. The 1st Pick in the 2025 Draft by the Phillies out of Rice, Mota really never lived up to that potential. Last year with Montreal he had his most big league experience, going 2-7 with a 5.00 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 54 innings. He'll finish his career 4-7 with a 4.34 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 64.1 innings with the Phillies and Expos. He walked 28, struck out 58, and started 12 of his 29 appearences. March 13th, 2031: Kino****a was activated from the DL. Also, I may or may not have mentioned this, but the Nashville Vultures will remain in the NL East. It messed up the schedule too much to have them in AL. March 27th, 2031: The Cubs extended C Adley Rutschman to a 5-year, $12.1 million per year contract. A Cub his whole career, the switch-hitter has a .242/.302/.433 line with 149 homers and 465 RBI's in 3,288 at bats. March 28th, 2031: The Dodgers signed CL Sergio Morales to a 1-year, $38 million deal. The former Blue Jay closer has a 2.67 career ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 193 saves in 462 innings. He's struck out 714 and walked 149. March 29th, 2031: The Nationals lost RHP Steve Vincent for the year as he will undergo elbow ligament reconstruction surgery. March 30th, 2031: The Cardinals lost LF Aydan Tomiak for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The Pilots signed SS Osiris Johnson to a 1-year, $27.4 million deal. He spent last year with the Mariners, hitting .242/.318/.369 with 14 homers, 15 steals, and 70 RBI's. I also started to set my Opening Day roster, as spring games ended today. I sent Kelvin Smith Jr. to the Mariners and re-acquired LF Juan Virto. April 1st, 2031: I set the roster that will help me repeat this year! SP Esteban Aguirre (5/5) SP Dursun Erbakan (4/4) SP C.J. Jorgensen (3/3) SP Juan Maya (3/3) SP Steve Paustian (3/3) RP Ken Adeniran (3/3) RP Josh Cronin (3/3) RP Danny Dempsey (3/3) RP Rodolfo Esquilin (3/3) RP Shiro Hiraki (4/4) RP C.J. LaFever (5/5) RP Juan Razo (5/5) CL Chad Scoles (5/5) C Pat Hughes (2.5/3) C Jackson Miller (4.5/4.5) 1B Gregorio Alvarenga (3.5/3.5) 1B Luis Mora (2.5/3.5) 1B Mac Horvath (4/4) 2B Jon Reid (3.5/4) 3B Takeshi Kino****a (4.5/5) SS Rogelio Maldonado (3/5) LF Juan Ramirez (5/5) LF Sergio Tello (2.5/2.5) CF Juan Simental (4.5/5) RF Ernie Frye (4/4) RF Jarred Kelenic (3.5/3.5) Time to win again! April 2nd-April 7th
Real life sidenote: The real life Marlins outplayed me in 2018, going 63-98 compared to my 58-104. Next year they'll have to top 79-83 to beat me!
April 2nd, 2031: Happy Opening Day! Again... The preseason predictions expect us to finish an extremely impressive 108-54, 20 games ahead of the 88-74 Braves, the 2nd Wild Card. The rest of the division sits out of the playoffs, with the Phillies (87-75) barley edged out and the Mets (84-78) not too far out. The Nationals (73-89) and Vultures (62-100) round out the division. Juan Simental (.292/.357/.560, 40 HR, 125, 40 SB) and Juan Ramirez (.306/.375/.552, 31 HR, 111 RBI, 19 SB) are projected as top players, but I doubt either will play the projected 157 and 156 games. Esteban Aguirre (17-6, 2.77 ERA, 233 K) is the top pitcher in the NL, and Dursun Erbakan (13-6, 3.87 ERA, 217 K) has a spot in the top 10. The top 100 prospect list was released, with RHP Jayvon Louisjean of the Giants replacing SS Rogelio Maldonado for #1. Louisjean, 21, was selected 8th overall in 2028, and is rated a 2/5* as a starter. Our system is ranked 21st, with both Joe Martin (21st) and Juan Toledo (59th) in the top 100. Wasnder S. Holsapple (120th) is the only other prospect in the top 200. The Cardinals signed RHP John Curtiss to a 1-year, $9 million deal and the Cubs signed RHP Colten Panaranto to a 1-year, $35 million deal. The Rangers signed both RHP Steve Hudson (1-year, $9.2 million) and LHP Steve Purpura (1-year, $17 million). We opened the year in Atlanta as reigning Cy Young winner Esteban Aguirre took on former Marlin prospect Ken Harty. Our lineup is as follows: RF Frye, CF Simental, LF Ramirez, 3B Kino****a, 1B Horvath, C Miller, 2B Reid, SS Maldonado, P Aguirre. As defending champs, the stakes were high, and we lived up to expectations, shutting out the hosts 6-0 to start 2031 on the right foot. Aguirre went 6.1 innings with 2 hits, 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Juan Razo made his major league debut, tossing a perfect 8th inning with 2 strikeotus and earning a hold. We got 4 runs in the 9th, so Chad Scoles wasn't needed for the save. Simental looked like a top player, going 4-for-5 with a double, homer, and 3 RBI's. Ernie Frye was 2-for-4 with a run scored, walk, 2 RBI's, and steal. Gregorio Alvarenga came off the bench, and was 1-for-1 with a double and run scored. Fun fact: We were the only team to win in our division, as the other 5 teams all lost. April 3rd, 2031: We looked to start out 2-0 as Dursun Erbakan took on Curt Schneider. The offense was off today, and we were edged 3-1 as the Braves evened the series. Worst part: Dursun Erbakan left with a mild hamstring strain. Luckily, he should be ready to make his next stat, but he only went 1.1 innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Danny Dempsey tossed 3.1 innings with 4 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Ken Adeniran went 2.1 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Juan Razo got the loss, allowing a hit that later scored. Josh Cronin allowed a hit, run, and walk in 0.1 innings. Ernie Frye was 2-for-4 with a steal and solo homer. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4. Dempsey was 1-for-2. Jon Reid and Rogelio Maldonado were both 1-for-3. April 4th, 2031: The Dodgers had a massive blow to their rotation, as last year's ERA crown Amari Queen will miss the rest of the year with a partially torn UCL. His one start this year was awful, 2.1 innings with 9 hits, 7 runs, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. He allowed 4 homers to the Diamondbacks. We looked to win the opening series as Steve Paustian faced former Marlin Joe LaBrie in the finale. The season didn't start as planned, and we were crushed 8-3. I say crushed since all three runs were pity runs in the 9th... Paustian was roughed up, 3.2 innings with 7 hits, 6 runs, and 3 walks. Shiro Hiraki went 2 innings with 2 htis, a run, walk, and 3 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever tossed an inning with 2 hits and a run scored. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a double and run scored. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly. Luis Mora got his first big league hit, a pinch hit single in the 8th. Mac Horvath was 1-for-1 with a walk and double. We're headed home for three with the Diamondbacks. We'll face Jacob Maton in the home opener, followed by Luis Aguilar and Mike Steele (0-0, 18.00 ERA). April 5th, 2031: The Pilots signed former Marlin LF Daylen Lile to a 1-year, $8.2 million deal. We had a beautiful ring ceremony today as we recognized our World Series victory in our first home game of the season. C.J. Jorgensen took on Jacob Maton in the 2031 Home Opener. The offense was firing on all cylinders, and we won the opener 7-3. Jorgensen went 5 with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki picked up the win, an inning with 2 strikeouts. Cronin and Rodolfo Esuqilin picked up holds before a nice 7th inning. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a steal, and homer. Takehsi Kino****a finally got his first big league hit, and was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored, 2 RBI's, and walk. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-2 with 3 runs, a steal, and 2 walks. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-4 with a double. April 6th, 2031: We looked to win our first series of the year as Juan Maya took on Luis Aguilar to round off both teams rotations. We scored 7 in the 4th and piled on 14 total runs to win the middle game 14-3! Maya looked alright, 6 innings with 9 htis, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Ken Adeniran picked up a 3 inning save, finishing the game with 2 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Juan Simental was 2-for-3 with a run scored, 3 RBI's, a sac-fly, hit by pitch, steal, and double. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, a RBI, walk, steal, and double. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-4 with his first big league homer, a 2 run shot off Marius Balandis in the 5th. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, and a homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and an RBI. Gregorio Alvarenga came off the bench, and was 1-for-1 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, and a double. Maya was 1-for-2 with a sac-bunt, double, and run scored. Adeniran was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, a RBI, walk, and double. Blue Jays 1B Gretson Jenista launched his 300th career homer today. Acquired from the Phillies in July of 2023, he's spent his whole big league career with Toronto, hitting .244/.342/.514 with 782 RBI's in 1,115 games. April 7th, 2031: The first power rankings of the year have us at 9th. At 3-2, we're tied with Atlanta for first place. We looked to finish a sweep with Esteban Aguirre (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.63 WHIP) taking on Mike Steele (0-0, 18.00 ERA, 2.67 WHIP), the 24-year-old ace and future star of the Diamondbacks. It took 12 innings, but Jon Reid sent us a home with a sac-fly and 3-2 sweep of the visiting Diamondbacks. Aguirre was amazing, 8 innings with 3 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 13 strikeouts. Chad Scoles let them tie it in the 9th, an inning with a hit, run, and strikeout. Juan Razo allowed a hit in the 10th, but struck out the side. Rodolfo Esquilin got the win, an inning with 2 strikeouts. Aguirre was the only Marlin with two hits, going 2-for-3. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with 2 walks and a solo homer in the 8th. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-5 with a solo homer, hit by pitch, and he scored the winning run in the 12th. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a walk and sac-fly. Gregorio Alvarenga came off the ebnch, and was 1-for-1 with a double and he was also hit by a pitch. Pat Hughes was 1-for-4 with a walk. Rockies CF Jim Hancock launched three hoemrs in a 8-4 win over the Dodgers. We'll head to Coors Field for a three game set with the Rockies. We'll see Eric Dawson (1-0, 3.00 ERA), Ty Madden (1-0, 3.60 ERA), and Tim Cate (0-1, 9.00 ERA). |

April 8th-April 13th
April 8th, 2031: We arrived in Colorado as Dursun Erbakan (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) took the mound against Eric Dawson (1-0, 3.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP). It was a tight one, but the Rockies edged us 6-5 to take the opener.
Erbakan had a rough outing, 4 innings with 10 hits, 6 runs, and just 2 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki had a rough 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 walks, but with 3 strikeouts. Ernie Frye was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, sac-bunt, walk, double, and steal. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a homer and 2 RBI's. Macs HOrvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Jackson Miller and Rogelio Maldonado were both 1-for-4 with a run scored. April 9th, 2031: We looked to even the series back up with Steve Paustian (0-1, 14.73 ERA, 2.73 WHIP) looking to shake off a rough season debut against Ty Madden (1-0, 3.60 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). We had a crazy one, and extra innings were needed after a 5-5 tie when the 9th finished. Both teams scored a run a piece in the 12th and 13th. In the 14th, we got 2 runs, and managed to hold off the Rockies for a 9-7 win in a game that took almost 6 houts. Paustian went 5 innigns with 6 hits, 4 runs (2 earned...), 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Rodolfo Esquilin went 0.2 innings with 4 hits and a run. Juan Razo struck out the side in the 8th, but allowed a single hit. Shiro Hiraki got the win, 3 innings with a hit, 2 runs (1 earned...), 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Man those unearned run... Juan Ramirez was 3-for-7 with a solo homer and 2 runs scored. Jon Reid was 3-for-7 with a run scored, RBI, and double. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-6 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Ernie Frye was 1-for-6 with a walk and two run homer. Juan Simental was 1-for-6 with a walk and solo homer. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-4 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, and a double. Takeshi Kino****a came off the bench, and wa s1-for-2 with a walk. April 10th, 2031: Cleveland will be without RHP Amari Ifill for the year with a torn labrum in his shoulder. The 29-year-old tossed 4 innings out of the pen, allowing 3 hits, a run, and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts. The Tigers signed 38-year-old veteran reliever Dovydas Neverauskas to a 1-year, $10 million deal. The Mariners signed RHP Alan Taylor to a 1-year, $9.3 million deal. Former Marlin Tim Cate (0-1, 9.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP) and C.J. Jorgensen (0-0, 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) dueled in the rubber match at Coors Field. The offense was unstoppable, and we pummeled the Rockies 18-4 to leave Colorado with a series win. Ernie Frye was an absolute monster, going a perfect 6-for-6 with 4 runs, 4 RBI's, a double, triple, and homer! So not only was he 6-for-6, he hit for the cycle! This is his second 5 or more hit game, as he was 5-for-5 on April 3rd, 2029 as a Ray against the Twins. He's now hitting a whopping .536/.594/1.036 with 3 homers and 11 RBI's in just 28 at bats. C.J. Jorgensen got the win, 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Danny Dempsey tossed 2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Mac Horvath was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and 2 walks. Takeshi Kinoshia was 3-for-4 with a double, homer, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 5 RBI's. Rogelio Maldonado was 2-for-6 with 2 runs scored. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored, triple, and 2 RBI's. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, a double, and steal. Pat Hughes was 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and sac-fly. We're headed back home for three with the Brewrs before out first off day of the year. We'll see Charlie Neeper (0-1, 10.80 ERA), Rodolfo Espinoza (0-0, 2.02 ERA), and Kevin Addario (0-0, 3.38 ERA). April 11th, 2031: We welcomed the Brewers to a packed Marlins Park as Juan Maya (1-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.83 WHIP) took on Charlie Neeper (0-1, 10.80 ERA, 1.80 WHIP). The Brewers tried to come back in the 9th, but we held them off for a 5-3 victory. Rogelio Maldonado was ejected in the 6th for arguing a strike call... Maya was excellent, 7 strong innings with 3 hits, a run, and 8 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever stumbeled in the 9th, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs. Chad Scoles picked up his 1st save, finnishing the 9th with a hit and strikeout. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a homer, and steal. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's and a double to improve his average to an impressive .118. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a double. April 12th, 2031: I claimed RHP Luis Alcantra (not the lefty I had for a while) off waivers from the Pilots. This Alcantra has elite stuff and tosses 96-98 with his elite fastball. He has a plus-plus slider, useless changeup, plus stamina, and is rated a 2.5/3* as a reliever. He's kind of a filler arm for now until I can get Hoong healthy, but he's an intriguing piece the Pilots keep trying to trade me. He was a 7th Round Pick out of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy in 2024 by the Cardinals. I optioned Danny Dempsey to AAA. We looked to keep rolling with Esteban Aguirre (1-0, 0.63 ERA, 0.63 WHIP) facing Rodolfo Espinoza (0-0, 2.02 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). It's almost expected that we win games Aguirre pitches, and we took another step closer to a sweep with a 5-2 win. Aguirre was great, 7.2 innings with 6 hits, 6 strikeouts, and 2 runs. Juan Razo got the final out of the 8th for a hold. Chad Scoles struck out all three hitters he faced in the 9th for the save. Rogelio Maldonado was a perfect 3-for-3 with a sac-fly. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Sergio Tello was 1-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI's. Aguirre was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI's. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Horvath and Reid were both 1-for-4 with a run scored. Pirates lefty Brad Rauter tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the Phillies. He struck otu 8 and didn't walk a batter. April 13th, 2031: We looked to fight fatigue an earn the home sweep with Dursun Erbakan (0-1, 10.13 ERA, 2.25 WHIP) facing Kevin Addario (0-0, 3.38 ERA, 1.50 WHIP). After a 4-4 tie brough extra innings, the Brewers got 1 in the 10th to win the finale 5-4. Erbakan was great, 5 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 6 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra and Josh Cronin earned holds before C.J. LaFever blew the save. I blame the defenese, as in his 0.1 innigs, all 3 runs were unearened and he allowed 2 hits. Ken Adeniran got the loss, 1.1 innings with a hit, run, and 2 strikeouts. Man these errors... Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-3 with a run scored, double, and 2 walks. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. We get tomorrow off! |

April 14th-April 20th
April 14th, 2031: With today off, I can focus on the Power Rankings and the first "Prospect Watch" of 2031!
We moved up to 5th in the Power Rankings. At 8-4, we have a 1 game lead over the Nationals and Braves. Prospect Watch: 1B Luis Mora (MLB Miami): With the minor league season just 4 games in, I though I'd highlight my Rule-5 Pick from the offseason, Luis Mora. A 24-year-old from Puerto Rico, Mora checks in at 14th in the Top 30. A speedy first basemen, he's not much of a defender anywhere other then first. He's got plus power, plus contact, and a plus eye. Origionally a 3rd Round Pick of the Red Sox in 2024, he's got himself into 9 games off the bench, but is hitting just 1-for-10 with 4 strikeouts. He's a great off the bench option as either a defensive replacement, pinch runner, or pinch hitter, and should develop great this year. Off to Montreal for three with the Expos! We'll see Luis Guerrero (0-2, 7.56 ERA), Sergio Liciaga (0-1, 6.30 ERA), and Brad Dobzanski (1-1, 6.52 ERA). April 15th, 2031: Dan-zu Hoong, who hasn't pitched since the postseason, will begin a long rehab assignment in AAA. We opened the series in Montreal with Steve Paustian (0-1, 8.31 ERA, 2.08 WHIP) facing Luis Guerrero (0-2, 7.56 ERA, 2.40 WHIP). It was a long, 13 inning affair, but Canadian Vladimir Guerrero Jr. sent the fans home happy with a walk-off solo homer and 4-3 win. Paustian pitched fine, 6 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki and Chad Scoles both pitched an inning with a walk and 3 strikeouts. Rodolfo Esquilin got the loss, 2 innings with a hit and run. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a run scored and 2 doubles. Jon Reid was 3-for-5 with a RBI, 2 doubles, and walk. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a hit by pitch and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-5 with a walk. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-5 with a walk and RBI. April 16th, 2031: We looked to even the series back up with C.J. Jorgensen (1-0, 5.23 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) facing Sergio Liciaga (0-1, 6.30 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). Tied at 1 in the 9th, Jackson Miller put us ahead with a RBI single, and then Jon Reid drove in 2 more with a single of his own to cap off a 4-1 "comeback" (they led 1-0) win. Jorgensen had a strong outing, 6 innings with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Juan Razo picked up the win, an inning with 2 hits and a strikeout. Chad Scoles got the save, a walk and strikeout in the 9th. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Jorgensen was 1-for-2 with a double. Takeshi Kino****a had a pinch hit single in the 9th. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. April 17th, 2031: We looked to take the finale with Juan Maya (2-0, 2.77 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) facing Brad Dobzanski (1-1, 6.52 ERA, 1.55 WHIP). It was a tight one, but we edged the hosts for a 4-3 win. For a 3-12 team, they really put up a fight all series... Maya went 5 with 5 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki, Josh Cronin, Juna Razo, and Chad Scoles earned holds. Luis Alcantra tossed 0.2 innings with a walk and strikeout to earn a save. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a homer, walk, and 3 RBI's. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a run scored, sac-bunt, and steal. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-3 with a walk and double. Ernie Frrye was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored. Former Marlin 2B Nolan Gorman was 5-for-5 in a 7-6 Dodgers win over the Phillies. Mets starter Pablo Ochoa tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the Nationals. He struck out 5. Headed back home for three with the Dodgers. We'll see Robinson Ortiz (0-1, 4.97 ERA), B.J. Russow (2-0, 1.37 ERA), and Nate Ransom (0-0, 6.89 ERA). April 18th, 2031: The boys were back in town for a three game set with the Dodgers. Esteban Aguirre (2-0, 1.23 ERA, 0.68 WHIP) faced Robinson Ortiz (0-1, 4.97 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) in the opener. With a big 5 run 8th, we were able to sepearte from the Dodgers and win the opener 13-7. Aguirre had a rough outing, 4 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Ken Adeniran went 1.1 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and strikeout. Shiro Hiraki improved to 3-0, tossing 0.2 innings with 2 walks and a strikeout. C.J. LaFever and Josh Cronin earned holds before Juan Razo picked up the save. He went 1.2 innings with a hit, walk, and strikeout. Ernie Frye was 3-for-4 with a run scored, double, triple, walk, and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with 3 runs, a walk, double, and hit by pitch. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with 3 runs, 4 RBI's, a triple, and homer. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with a triple, run scored, 3 RBI's, and walk. Jackson Miller was 1-for-5 with a solo shot. Juan Ramirez had a pinch hit double and scored in the 6th. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. April 19th, 2031: The Cardinals lost RHP Duany Gomez for the year with a torn labrum in his shoulder. He was solid for 9 innings, with a 1.00 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 7 bullpen appearences. He struck out 7, but walked 6. We looked to take the series a day early with Dursun Erbakan (0-1, 6.10 ERA, 1.55 WHIP) and Dodgers replacement ace B.J. Russow (2-0, 1.37 ERA, 0.76 WHIP) going head-to-head. The pitching was great, and we won 5-2. Erbakan went 6 with just 2 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 9 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever, Shiro Hiraki, and Luis Alcantra earned holds. Rodolfo Esquilin got the final two outs, a strikeout and flyout, but was not rewarded a save because the first out was recorded and it was a three run lead. Mac Horvath was 2-for-2 with 2 walks. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and 2 RBI's. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Erbakan was 1-for-1 with a double, run scored, and sac-bunt. Pat Hughes was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a RBI and 2 walks. Cubs 2B Bobby Holloway was 5-for-5 in a 6-0 win over the Brewers. Braves LF Ronald Acuna hit his 300th career homer. A Brave his whole career, he has a .277/.346/.483 career line with 1,045 RBI's. Acuna has been to 4 All-Star Games and won 9 Gold Gloves. April 20th, 2031: We looked to finish the sweep with Steve Paustian (0-1, 6.75 ERA, 1.91 WHIP) facing Nate Ransom (0-0, 6.89 ERA, 1.79 WHIP). We allowed 3 quick runs in the first, but faught for 5 in the bottom half en route to a 8-4 win to finish the sweep. Paustian had a very, very interesting game. He tossed 5 no-hit innings, but allowed 3 runs (1 earned), walked 5, and struck out 6 to bring his pitch count to 104. Rodolfo Esquilin replaced him, earning a hold with a strikeout in an inning of work. Ken Adeniran went 1 inning with 3 hits, a run, and strikeout. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and steal. Jon Reid was 2-for-2 with a run scored, sac-bunt, walk, RBI, and triple. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a triple, 2 runs, and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a run scored and steal. Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 with 2 runs, a RBI, double, and 2 walks. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double. Luis Mora had a pinch-hit RBI double in the 6th and later scored. We looked to ride our hotstreak into Philadelphia, where we had a three game set with the Phillies. We'd see Sergio Monreal (0-2, 7.04 ERA), Jim Gilbert (0-3, 7.27 ERA), and Boby Godinez (1-1, 5.09 ERA). |

April 21st-April 26th
April 21st, 2031: The Cubs signed LHP Jared Miller to a 1-year, $12.4 million deal.
The latest Power Rankings feature the Miami Marlins at #1. With a 13-5 record, we have a 2 game lead over the Braves. Prospect Watch: SP Joe Martin (AAA New Orleans): Joe Martin may be the only player I've ever drafted that actually has a shot to be an elite talent. Taken 22nd overall in 2026, he's rated a 3/4.5*, he's already pitched a bit in the majors, appearing in 5 games, tossing 2.2 innings with 3 strikeouts and just 1 hit. He's got elite stuff, plus movement, and plus control. He has a plus-plus sinker, 100 rated slider, and average changeup with average stamina. He's a groundballer that hits 96-98 consistently, and throws sidearm with his right hand. He's had a rough start to the AAA season, but has still struck out 13 in 13 innings. I do have my probelms in the rotation, so Martin can force himself into the picture sooner rather then later. We were at Citizens Bank Park tonight to open a three game series with the Phillies. C.J. Jorgensen (1-0, 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) took on former Marlin Sergio Monreal (0-2, 7.04 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) in the opener. The offense was dormant, and we were beat 4-1 in the opener. C.J. went 6.1 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra allowed a hit and run with a strikeout in his only inning. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-2 with a sac-fly. Erine Frye and Juan Simental were both 1-for-4. Orioles CF Mike Verbeck was 5-for-5 in a 3-0 win over the Tigers. April 22nd, 2031: The Twins will be without LHP Taylor Hearn for the year with a partially torn UCL. He was having a great year at 36, tossing 12 innings with a 1.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts. Hearn has an interesting past, as he was drafted in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. We looked to even the series with former Philly Juan Maya (3-0, 3.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) facing Jim Gilbert (0-3, 7.27 ERA, 1.79 WHIP) who has really had a rough start to his season. The offense woke up today, and we edged the Phils 7-5 to even the series. Maya went 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Ken Adeniran picked up a hold, 1.2 innings with a walk and strikeout. C.J. LaFever got the 8th, an inning with a hit, run, and strikeout. Chad Scoles got the save in the 9th, allowing a hit and run with a pair of strikeouts. Pat Hughes was 3-for-5 with a homer and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 3-for-5 with a run scored and 2 RBI's. Ernie Frye was 2-for-5 with a steal, double, and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, a hit by pitch, walk, double, and steal. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Maya was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. April 23rd, 2031: We looked to win the finale and series with Esteban Aguirre (2-0, 2.42 ERA, 0.85 WHIP) facing Bob Godinez (1-1, 5.09 ERA, 1.25 WHIP). We piled on 9 runs and left Philly with a 9-3 win. Gregorio Alvarenga was ejected in the 4th for arguing a strike call, while Luis Alcantra was ejected in the 8th for igniting a bench-clearing brawl. Aguirre had another rough outing, 4.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Alcantra went 0.2 innigns with 2 hits and a run. Rodolfo Esquilin got the win, finishing the 5th for Aguirre. Jon Reid was 3-for-5 with a double and run scored. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a double, and walk. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-5. Ernie Frye had a pinch hit, 2-run double, and scored in the 6th. Sergio Tello came off the bench and was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI's. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, a RBI, and walk. Alcantra will be suspended for just four games. Angels RF Alfredo Tejada launched three homers in a 7-5 win over the Rangers. Off to San Diego for three with the Padres! We'll face Kinnon Linfoot (0-1, 2.89 ERA), Josh Hearn (0-1, 5.23 ERA), and Sergio Andrade (0-3, 5.85 ERA). April 24th, 2031: We opened the series in San Diego with Dursun Erbakan (1-1, 4.96 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) facing the red-hot Kinnon Linfoot (0-1, 2.89 ERA, 1.39 WHIP). We have the position advantage at all 9 slots, and we took the opener 9-5. Erbakan had a rough start, 4.1 innings with 8 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Esquilin got the win again today, finishing the 5th with a ground out and strikeout. Shiro Hiraki got a hold, an inning with a hit. Jackson Miller was 3-for-5 with a run scored and 2 RBI's. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, steal, and homer. Ernie Frye was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with 2 runs and an RBI. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with a walk, run scored, and RBI. Juan Rmairez was 1-for-5 with a steal and run scored. April 25th, 2031: The middle game saw Steve Paustian (1-1, 5.49 ERA, 1.68 WHIP) take on fellow righty Josh Hearn (0-1, 5.23 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). We got 2 in the 9th from Luis Mora's first big league homer to make it close, but the Friars evened the series with a 4-3 win. Paustian went 6 with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Rodolfo Esquilin went an inning with 3 hits and a run. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-5 with a steal. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Juan Ramriez was 1-for-4 with a double. Mets SS Jonathan Guzman was 5-for-6 in a 21-3 domination of the Diamondbacks. April 26th, 2031: Rangers righty Walker BUehler will miss the rest of the season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. Now 36, the former Marlin is barley effective and has had numerous arm issues. Another former Marlin Cory Abbott will also miss the rest of the year with the same diagnosis. He was 1-1 with a 1.72 ERA in 4 effective starts. We looked to win the rubber match with C.J. Jorgensen (1-1, 3.97 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) going after Sergio Andrade (0-3, 5.85 ERA, 1.25 WHIP). We couldn't score off subpar pitching, and were edged out 3-2. Good thing we get tomorrow off... Jorgensen tossed 7 with 6 hits, 3 runs, 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Juan Razo got the 8th, 2 hits with a walk and strikeout. Luis Mora was 2-for-4 with a run and two steals. Pat Hughes was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-4 with a double. Yankees 3B Murdoch Greenan was 5-for-6 in a 19-18 slugfest win over the Red Sox. We get tomorrow off to relax! |

April 27th-May 3rd
April 27th, 2031: With a day off, I optioned the struggling SS Rogelio Maldonado to AAA and recalled 1B Rodolfo Solorzano.
We headed home in preperation to host the Cubs. We'll see Seth Halvorsen (2-1, 4.58 ERA), Sergio Barreto (3-0, 2.55 ERA), and Jorge Flores (3-0, 1.31 ERA). April 28th, 2031: We dropped to 3rd in the Power Rankings, with the new #1 our next opponent, the Chicago Cubs. At 16-8, we have a 2 game lead over the Mets. Prospect Watch: SP Eric Estes (A Greensboro): I'm just trying to feel better about guys who I drafted, so this week Eric Estes is being highlightes. A 23-year-old righty, Estes was selected in the 7th Round in 2029 from USC. Formerly a 5th Round Pick by the Brewers out of high school, he didn't sign, and then had a little bit of a down junior year, causing him to drop in the draft. Checking in at 26th in our top 30, Estes features plus control with a nice four pitch arsenal. He has a plus-plus fastball that sits at 94-96, and features a plus slider, plus forkball, and average knuckle curve. He's gotten off to a great start in his first taste of full season ball, going 2-1 with a 2.77 ERA and 0.73 WHIP in 4 starts. He's struck out 27 and walked just 4. The Mimai Beach native doesn't quite jump out at you, but he's got back-of-the-rotation/spot starter potential in the majors. The 17-7 Cubs came to town, and we opened this crucial series with Juan Maya (4-0, 3.47 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) facing Seth Halvorsen (2-1, 4.58 ERA, 1.58 WHIP). The pitching was great, and we topped the visitors 6-1. Juan Ramirez left with a twisted ankle, but he'll be better once the series ends. Juan Maya went 5.2 innings with 3 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Ken Adeniran picked up a long save, tossing 3.1 perfect innings with one strikeout. Juan Simental was 3-for-4 with 3 runs and a double. Ramirez was a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored, steal, and 3 RBI's. Ernie Frye was 3-for-4 with 2 runs and 2 steals. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a walk. A's young star Mike Powerll struck out 15 in a 1-0 win over the Red Sox. He allowed 4 htis and walked none in 7 excellent innings. April 29th, 2031: The middle match was a high caliber lefty pitching matchup, with Esteban Aguirre (2-0, 2.64 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) looking to shake off subpar outings against Sergio Barreto (3-0, 2.55 ERA, 0.79 WHIP). The pitchers' duel was as anticipated, and we shut the visitors out 1-0. Even better, I forgot to bench Juan Ramirez, and now he's headed to the DL with a knee contusion... Oh man... Aguirre tossed 6 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 13 strikeotus. C.J. LaFever and Josh Cronin picked up holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Each pitched an inning and each got a strikeout. Jackson Miller was 2-for-3 with a double. Ernie Frye was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a run scored. April 30th, 2031: I purcahsed the contract of LF Mike Smedley from AAA. I signed him back as a minor league free agent in 2030, but in 7 seasons with the Angels from 2023-2029, he hit .258/.319/.478 with 178 homers and 529 RBI's. He was a 2nd Round selection of theirs in 2020, and was hitting really well, .319/.365/.617 with 3 homers and 10 RBI's to start the year with New Orleans. We looked to finish April off with a sweep, as Dursun Erbakan (1-1, 6.10 ERA, 1.55 WHIP) took on the ageless wonder (37!) Jorge Flores (3-0, 1.31 ERA, 0.61 WHIP). We were amazing, and won 7-1! Erbakan tossed 5 shutout innings with 4 hits, 3 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki got a "hold" with a hit, run, walk, and an impressive 5 strikeouts in 2 innings of work. Juan Simental was 2-for-3 with two solo homers, 3 runs, and a walk. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, homer, and steal. Rodolfo Solorzano was 1-for-3 with a solo homer and sac-fly. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with a run scored. We looked to ride the hot streak into May and St. Louis as we headed North for three games. We'd face Nelson A. Alvarez (1-0, 1.80 ERA), Nate Shcneider (3-0, 2.84 ERA), and Andy Frost (1-3, 10.89 ERA). May 1st, 2031: We opened the three game set in St. Louis with Steve Paustian (1-2, 5.26 ERA, 1.52 WHIP) facing Nelson A. Alvarez (1-0, 1.80 ERA, 1.60 WHIP). We got four late runs in the 9th, to comeback and beat St. Louis 4-3. Paustian went 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Rodolfo Esquilin tossed an inning with a strikeout for the win. Chad Scoles got the save in the bottom of the ninth, an inning with a hit and strikeout. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Sergio Tello was 2-for-4 with a double. Luis Mora was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Twins C Dominic Keegan was 5-for-5 in a 6-5 win over the Tigers. Down in AAA, Joe Martin was brilliant, tossing a 2-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over the Tuscon Toros. May 2nd, 2031: We looked to keep on going with C.J. Jorgensen (1-2, 3.94 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) facing Nate Schneider (3-0, 2.84 ERA, 0.95 WHIP). It was a tight one, and they managed to even the series with a 3-2 win. Jorgensen tossed 5 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 5 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Joe Cronin allowed a hit and run in 0.2 innings. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Jorgensen was 1-for-2. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a steal. Rodolfo Solorzano had a pinch-hit RBI double in the 7th. Reds 3B Rafael Devers tallied his 2,500th career hit. The 34-year-old has played in 2,135 big league games, hitting an impressive .296/.356/.561 with 543 homers and 1,589 RBI's. He's a 11-Time All-Star and 7-Time Silver Slugger. May 3rd, 2031: The Yanks will be without RHP Logan Gilbert for the year with a torn labrum in his shoulder. He was 2-1 with a 2.02 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 13.1 innings. He struck out 13 and walked just 4. Juan Maya (5-0, 3.10 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) looked to stay perfect as we looked to win the finale against former Marlin farmhand Andy Forst (1-3, 10.89 ERA, 2.42 WHIP). We scored 4 runs in the 9th to tie the game at 9 and force extras. In the 11th, former Marlin Rodolfo Medrano hit a walk-off single, and the hosts won 10-9. Luis Alcantra left with an injury... Maya was lit up, 2 innigns with 9 hits and 6 runs. He walked 1 and struck out 2. Ken Adeniran went 3 innigns with 2 hits, a run, walk, and 3 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki allowed a hit and run in an inning. Alcantra allowed a hit and run with a strikeout. C.J. LaFever got the loss, 3 hits and a run without an out. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, a hit by pitch, and double. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, walk, steal, and hit by pitch. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with a solo homer and walk. Lusi Mora was 1-for-5 with a two run homer and walk. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored and walk. Juan Simental was 1-for-6 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Well, we started out April 1-2 too... We'll head back home for three with the Vultures. We'll face Steve Caprioi (2-2, 6.48 ERA), Ryder Green (1-2, 4.32 ERA), and Santiago Elizondo (0-2, 5.50 ERA). |

May 3rd-May 9th
May 3rd, 2031: The Nashville Vultures were in town. This was the first time we'd play the Vultures, although we played the Boston Doves (their old name) the past two seasons. Esteban Aguirre (3-0, 2.21 ERA, 0.85 WHIP) took on Steve Caprio (2-2, 6.48 ERA, 1.44 WHIP) in the opener. We have the position advantage at every lineup slot, and it really isn't close. As expected, we went on to win the opener, by a score of 7-2.
Crazy story: I noticed the leadoff hitters name, Jonathon Trytek, but I could't remember why. Turns out, I selected him in the 39th Round of the 2025 draft, and somehow, he made it to the big leagues six years later as a 26-year-old. Turns out, I released him later in June the year I drafted him. He played a little in the Padres organization, but didn't last long. In 2027, after being released, he signed with the Giants and played the 2027 and 2028 season with the Giants affiliate. He was released in the offseason, before signign with the Senators. In the latest offseason, he was selected by the Vultures 2nd in the Rule-5 Draft. And now he's hitting .204/.316/.429 with 6 homers, 4 steals, and 9 RBI's in 98 at bats. So my 39th Round Picks that never play for me can make the majors, but half my 1st rounders can't... My report in 2025: 39th Round, 1,179th Overall: CF Jonathan Trytek (0.5): The Desert Christian junior can flat out fly on the basepaths, and has gold glove potential in the outfield. He doesn't have the best bat, but his value is off the bench as a fourth outfielder. Ha, I spelled his name wrong. But he couldn't be farther from a 4th outfielder. He's now an infielder, rated 90 at first, 54 at second, 62 at third, and 53 at shortstop. He's rated just a 7 in center and 10 in right. Wow I am an excellent drafter! (He does have defensive ratings, rated a 55 for range, 90 for error, and 98 for arm). I had two first rounders in that draft, Juan Mariscal and Gabe Suppa, but neither of them amounted to much. And haven't played in the majors. 2nd Rounder Luis Nevi, has debuted for me, but I doubt anyone else has debuted. Back to baseball: Esteban Aguirre was brilliant, 8+ innings with 1 hit, an unearned run, a walk, and 9 strikeouts. Ken Adeniran finished the 9th, allowing a hit, run, and he got a strikeout. Ernie Frye was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, an RBI, walk, and steal. Luis Mora was 2-for-4 with a homer, 2 runs, and 3 RBI's. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, and a run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly and 2 RBI's. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a walk. Checked back on the 2025 class: That's where Andy Neidig was drafted, a former 3.5/4.5* releiver for me who made appearences in 2029 and 2030. He tore his flexor tendon in September, and now is both fragile and a 3*. He was actually a great pick, so I can't complain, but it's hillarous that at least the 3rd most productive player from this class will be the 39th Round pick who went undrafted out of high school, attended Desert Christian for college, and was only selected because of his speed. May 5th, 2031: The White Sox will be without LHP Demario Morales for the rest of the year. The 27-year-old partially tore his UCL. In his first year in Chicago, he threw 15 innings out of the pen in 14 games. He was 1-0 with a save, 13 strikeouts, and 8 walks. He also had a 4.80 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. We remained third in the Power Rankings. At 21-10, we have a 4 game lead over the Phillies. Prospect Watch: SP Juan Mariscal (A+ Jupiter): Here's a fun one: here's the 1st Round Pick in the 2025 draft that is still in my organization and isn't retired... No knock to Mariscal, who is putting together a solid season with the Hammerheads. In 5 starts, he's just 1-2, but has a 2.36 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 24 strikeouts and 8 walks. Mariscal's prospect hype has dropped a ton, and the durable southpaw is just rated a half star with no third pitch, but he still has plus-plus stuff. His future is likely in the bullpen, where he's rated a passable 1.5/3* and his stuff turns elite. He's got a plus-plus fastball and plus-plus sinker that he throws from a deceptive sidearm position. He only averages 91-93, but it's hard to get a read off his pitches. He doesn't have more then average control and movement, but he can be an effective LOOGY (or however you spell it) in the majors. Take that Jonathon Trytek! We looked to take the series a game early with Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 4.91 ERA, 1.52 WHIP) facing Ryder Green (1-2, 4.32 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). They actually have a position advantage today, with my worst player Luis Mora hitting fourth, the spot of their best player Sincere Lahens. It didn't matter, as we scored 17 to thier 8th, and we'd look to sweep them out of town tomorrow. Erbakan did not have a good start, allowing 4 hits and 5 runs with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Not sure why, but he really sucks early in the year. Rodolfo Esquilin "earned" the win, tossing 1.1 innings with 2 hits, a run, walk, and strikeout. Shiro Hiraki, Josh Cronin, and Juan Razo got holds before we scored 8 in the 8th. C.J. LaFever pitied them, and allowed 2 runs off 2 hits and 2 strikeouts in the 9th. Jackson Miller was 3-for-5 with a run scored, double, and 2 RBI's. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, hit by pitch, and homer. Ernie Frye was 2-for-4 with 3 runs, a RBI, walk, hit, **** by pitch, steal, and double. Luis Mora was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a RBI, and walk. Rodolfo Solorzano had a pinch hit grand slam in the 8th. Mike Smedley had a pinch hit solo homer in the 8th as well. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a run scored, double, and 2 walks. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with 2 runs scored, an RBI, and walk. Mariners RF Janisel Rivera hit his 400th career homer. A 22nd Round Pick of the Astros from 2016, he has a .286/.393/.567 career line with 401 homers (hit two in the game) and 960 RBI's. He's a 7 Time All-Star and the 2028 AL MVP. May 6th, 2031: Luis Alcantra's diagnosis is still pending, but I'm going to place him on the 10-Day DL to recall Dan-zu Hoong from his rehab assignment. More bad news, but it comes for RHP Joe Perez, who's career will end due to his torn labrum in his shoulder. In his career, he pitched 190 games (84 starts), going 18-34 with 9 saves, a 4.19 ERA, and 1.30 WHIP. He walked 183 and struck out 423 in 462.1 innings with the Astros, Cubs, and Blue Jays. He was in his second stint with the Astros, (2028 with Cubs, 2029 with Jays, 2022-2027, 2030-2031 with Astros), who took him in the 2nd Round in 2017. Better news! The Draft Pool is released! Here's the top 10 rated by OSA! 1. LHP Eric Cowden (2/4) 2. SS Chris Tyburski (0.5/4) 3. RHP Jaheem Quintyne (0.5/5) 4. SS Jorge Trujilo (2/4.5): Selected by us last year with the 38th Overall Pick 5. RHP Chris Rhoades (0.5/4.5): Selected in the 3rd Round by the Phillies in 2028 6. CF Chris Campbell (3/4.5) 7. RHP Sergio Figueroa (1.5/5) 8. RHP R.J. Parmer (2.5/4) 9. RHP Mike Solarz (0.5/4) 10. RHP Jon Davey (2.5/4) I'm not a big fan of the pool, but there is a stud reliever Eddie Erdman who my scout views as a 1/5. Billy Riebe is another 5* potential reliever. The only 4+ non reliever is Joel Rainge, who's a 4*. A pair of 3.5* starters Freddy Brooks and O.D. Lee are solid, but no hitter is higher then a 3*. I'm hoping more guys will appear with more scouting... Here's what my unsigned Class of 2028 looks like now: 3rd Rounder: RHP Sergio Arenas (2/2.5) 8th Rounder: CF Sean Moody (1.5/1.5) 13th Rounder: CF Jake Maxey (2.5/2.5) 17th Rounder: CF Mike Klein (0.5/0.5) 21st Rounder: CF Eric Watts (1/0.5) 24th Rounder: C Ezra Morris (0.5/1.5) 30th Rounder: 3B Bobby Gollihue (0.5/0.5) 34th Rounder: 3B Murdock Laviolette (0.5/0.5) 35th Rounder: RHP Redmond Norling (0.5/0.5) 36th Rounder: LHP Chad Monk (0.5/0.5) 40th Rounder: LHP Jeremy Lapes (0.5/0.5) Sergio Arenas and Jake Maxey could both be taken in the first three rounds. Perhaps Mooody, Morris, or Watts in the Top 10. We looked to finish the sweep with Steve Paustian (1-2, 5.23 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) facing Santiago Elizondo (0-2, 5.50 ERA, 1.44 WHIP). It was a tight one, but we edged them 2-1 for the sweep. Paustian tossed 7 innings with 5 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Juan Razo got the hold, allowing just 1 hit as he struck out the side in the 8th. Chad Scoles earned his 7th save, a perfect 9th with a pair of strikeouts. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and solo homer. Paustian was 1-for-2. Pat Hughes was 1-for-3. Ernie Frye and Jarred Kelenic were both 1-for-4. Fresh off his milestone homer, Janisel Rivera was 5-for-5 in a 8-5 win over the White Sox. Off to San Francisco for three with the Giants. We'll face Dan Poinsette (2-0, 4.25 ERA), Tra'Mayne Blackburn (0-2, 8.53 ERA), and Juan Tafoya (3-1, 3.27 ERA). May 7th, 2031: Luis Alcantra was diagnosed with a sore shoulder, but will miss 5-6 weeks. When I can/remember, I'll option him to AAA and place him on the DL there. I claimed 2B Pat Wetter off waivers from the Red Sox, but I intend to sneek him through waivers and outright him to either AA or AAA. A former 10th Round selection from Boston, he hit just .154/.185/.231 in 26 at bats this season. He's a 0.5/3* with plus-plus eye, plus-plus speed, plus power, and a plus defender at second. We opened the series in San Francisco with C.J. Jorgensen (1-3, 3.89 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) taking on Dan Poinsette (2-0, 4.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP). Tied at 8 in the 9th, we scored two and went on to win 10-8. Jorgensen had a horrible start, 2.2 innings with 8 hits, 6 runs, a walk, and strikeout. Ken Adeniran tossed 2.2 innings with 2 walks and a run scored. Dan-zu Hoong went 0.2 innings in his return to the majors, allowing 2 hits, a walk, and runs. Esquilin improved to 6-1, tossing a scorless 8th with a strikeout. Scoles allowed a hit in the 9th while earning the save. Juan Simental was 4-for-5 with 4 runs, 3 RBI's, a double, and two hoemrs, including a clutch solo shot in the 9th. Takeshi Kino****a went 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a home run. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Sergio Tello was 1-for-4 with a triple, run scored, walk, and RBI. Luis Mora was 1-for-5 with a double and RBI. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, a RBI, walk, and double. Phillies superstar 1B Xavier Carter launched his 300th homer. The 30-year-old was taken by the Phillies in the 8th Round back in 256th, but even with his injry problems, he's been one of the best hitters in the past decade. He's won 3 MVP's and has been selected to 4 All-Star Games. He's a career .303/.408/.626 hitter in 873 games with the Phils. We looked to extend our win streak to 5 with Juan Maya (5-0, 4.65 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) facing former #1 overall pick Tra'Mayne Blackburn (0-2, 8.53 ERA, 1.89 WHIP). Both teams scored just 1 run in the first 9 innings. Jackson Miller gave us a 2-1 lead with a RBI single and then Sergio Tello tripled home three to give us a 4-1 lead. They got one back in the 9th, but we won 4-2. Maya pitched an amazing game, 8.1 innings with a hit, run, walk, and 7 strikeouts. Esquilin got the win, going 0.2 innigns with a strikeout. Juan Razo got the save, a hit, run, and 2 strikeouts. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Rodolfo Solorzano was 2-for-5. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3. Tello's hit was his only at bat. May 9th, 2031: We looked to finish off another sweep in a high class ace-off. Estevan Aguirre (4-0, 1.81 ERA, 0.74 WHIP) took on a better 1st Overall Pick in Juan Tafoya (3-1, 3.27 ERA, 1.19 WHIP). We got four in the first, and won the finale 7-2. Aguirre was an brilliant as ever, 6.1 innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki gave up both runs, allowing 4 hits despite 2 strikeouts in an inning of work. Luis Mora was great, 4-for-5 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a double, and homer. Sergio Tello was 2-for-5 with a two run homer. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-5 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Gregorio Alvarenga and Ernie Frye were both 2-for-5 with a run scored. Rodolfo Solorzano was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly. The milestone homers keep on coming as Expos 3B Anderson Franco hit his 400th career homer. The 33-year-old is most known for his time in Washington, where he hit a league best 59 homers in 2022. He owns a .241/.318/.473 batting line across 7,011 plate appearences. We got tomorrow off and will head home happy! Hope the momentum doesn't expire... |

May 10th-May 16th
May 10th, 2031: I managed to sneak Pat Wetter to Jacksonville.
The Mets will join us in Miami tomorrow to start a three game series. We'll face Wesley Scott (0-4, 3.16 ERA), Juan Coira (3-1, 3.98 ERA), and Arturo Romo (3-2, 4.01 ERA). May 11th, 2031: We opened the Mets series with Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 5.76 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) on the mound against Wesley Scott (0-4, 3.16 ERA, 0.89 WHIP). Our hit streak was snapped, and the Mets edged us 3-2 to take the opener. Erbakan pitched fine, 5.1 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Dan-zu Hoong got the loss, 1.2 innings with a hit and run. Juan Razo struck out both hitters he faced. Luis Mora was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Ernie Frye was 2-for-4 with a double. Sergio Tello was 1-for-3 with a walk. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a walk, double, and run scored. Orioles CF Mike Verbeck was 5-for-6 in a 20-11 domination of the Blue Jays. May 12th, 2031: We moved up to 2nd in the Power Rankings. At 26-11, we have a 4 game lead over Philadelphia. Prospect Watch: 3B Sergio Olvera (AAA New Orleans): He's not your "typical" prospect, but technically 32-year-old Sergio Olvera is a prospect since he signed in the spring to a minor league deal after coming over from Cuba. In his first season stateside, he's hitting .333/.391/.547 with 3 homers and 18 RBI's in 20 games with the Baby Cakes. He's not much of a defender, but he's a great hitter with excellent gap and home run power. He has had his injury problems, so a successful Major League career may be difficult, but Olvera is showing that his numbers in Cuba were no joke. We looked to even the series with Steve Paustian (2-2, 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) facing former Marlin Juan Coira (3-1, 3.98 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). The pitching wasn't too good, and they scored 4 late innings runs to win 8-4. Paustian went 5.2 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. C.J. LAFever got the loss, 1.1 innings with a hit, 2 runs, a walk, and strikeout. Josh Cronin allowed a hit, walk, and run. Rodolfo Esquilin went an inning with a hit and run. Jackson Miller was 3-for-4 with a walk, double, and 3 RBI's. Luis Mora was 3-for-4 with a hit by pitch and run scored. Ernie Frye was 2-for-3 with a run scored and 2 walks. Jon Reid was 2-for-5. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a steal. Phillies CF Jon Mattheus extended his hit streak to 20 games. May 13th, 2031: All-Star voting starts today! The Mets lost RHP Gabe Hinsz for the year with a torn labrum in his shoulder. In his first, and likely last season, in New York, the 35-year-old was having a resurgence out of the pen. He had a 1.20 ERA and 0.73 WHIP with 18 strikeouts in 15 innings. We looked to avoid the sweep with C.J. Jorgensen (1-3, 5.06 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) taking on southpaw Arturo Romo (3-2, 4.01 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). It was a tight one, but we salvaged the finale with a 4-2 win. Jorgensen tossed 5 innings with 6 hits, a run, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Rodolfo Esquilin, C.J. LaFever, and Ken Adeniran earned holds before Chad Scoles picked up the save. Adeniran was charged with a run off a hit with a strikeout in the 8th. Fun Fact: Rodolfo Esquilin is tied for the NL lead in wins with 7. Wins is the only Triple Crown category Esteban Aguirre (1.59 ERA, 64 K) is no leading in. Off to Pittsburgh to face the Pirates for three. We'll face Chris Androff (4-1, 3.23 ERA), Brad Rauter (4-1, 2.77 ERA), and Caleb Barnsley (2-3, 3.64 ERA). May 14th, 2031: I optioend LF Mike Smedeley to AAA to actiavte Juan Ramirez from the DL. We opened the series in Pittsburgh with Juan Maya (5-0, 3.89 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) facing Chris Androff (4-1, 3.23 ERA, 1.59 WHIP). We welcomed Ramirez back to the lineup with a nice 10-3 win to take the opener. But of course, he repayed us with a hip flexor strain. He won't head to the DL, but he'll stay benched until he's healthy... Maya allowed 6 hits and 3 runs with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts in 4.2 innings. Shiro Hiraki got the win, going 1.1 innings with a hit and 3 strikeouts. Jon Reid was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, an RBI, and 2 doubles. Rodolfo Solorzano was 2-for-5 with a two run homer. Pat Hughes was 2-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI's. Gregorio Alvarenga came off the bench for Ramirez (who actually went 1-for-1 with an RBI double), and was 1-for-2 with 2 runs, a walk, and a hit by pitch. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with 2 walks, a run scored, and RBI. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a walk and two run homer. Mets 3B Juan Pulido was 5-for-7 in a 5-4 extra inning win over the Padres. May 15th, 2031: We looked to take the middle game with another ace-off, Esteban Aguirre (5-0, 1.59 ERA, 0.75 WHIP) facing Bruce Rauter (4-1, 2.77 ERA, 1.02 WHIP). We got two quick runs in the first, and it was enough in the 3-1 win. Aguirre allowed just 1 hit and 1 run in 7.1 innings with 9 strikeouts. The only blemish was a Juan Flores solo homer in the 3rd with 1 out. Juan Razo got a strikeout and fly out to finish the 8th and earn a hold. Chad Scoles got a strikeout in a perfect 9th for the save. Rodolfo Solorznao was 2-for-3 with a double, and solo homer. For some reason he was pinch-hit for by Jarred Kelenic (who got hit by a pitch) in the 8th. Mac Horvath was 2-for4 with a walk and run scored. Ernie Frye was 1-for-3 with a two run homer and walk. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a steal. Cubs RF Ben Henning was 5-for-5 in a 7-1 win over the Giants. May 16th, 2031: RHP Juan Geurrero tore his labrum, and decided it would mark the end of his career. The 30-year-old has a 4.25 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 137.2 innings between the Angels, Pilots, and Reds. He was 10-7 with 15 saves, 158 strikeouts, and 75 walks. For some reason, the Pilots returned LHP Jeff Dorer. Selected in the Rule-5 draft, the 28-year-old was highly effective in 19.2 innings. He had a 2.29 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 18 strikeouts. He'll report to AAA. We looked to finish the sweep with Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 5.14 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) facing Caleb Barnsley (2-3, 3.64 ERA, 1.36 WHIP). We couldn't finish them off, and they edged us 4-3 to steal the finale. Erbakan tossed 5.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever blew the save, 0.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, and a strikeout as he continues to have a rough season in his walk year. Jackson Miller was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-4 with a walk. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored. We'll head back home to host the Pilots for three. We'll see Jaquan Pimpton (2-2, 3.97 ERA), Chad Bradenburg (5-2, 3.86 ERA), and Ken Graham (0-6, 6.45 ERA). |

May 17th-May 22nd
May 17th, 2031: First fan vote update: Mac Horvath ranks 3rd for 1B. Juan Ramirez ranks 3rd for LF. Juan Simental ranks 2nd for CF. Ernie Frye ranks 1st for RF. Esteban Aguirre ranks 1st for SP. Chad Scoles ranks 1st for RP.
The Seattle Pilots were in town as we started a nice homestand. Steve Paustian (2-2, 4.74 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) was on the mound against southpaw Jaquan Pimpton (2-2, 3.97 ERA, 1.37 WHIP). Our offense was held in check, and the guests took the opener 4-2. Dan-zu Hoong left with an injury... Paustian went 5.1 innings, allowing 7 hits, 4 runs, and 2 walks while striking out 7. Ken Adeniran tossed 2.2 innings with 4 hits and 2 strikeouts. Takeshi Kinoshihta was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Paustian was 1-for-2. May 18th, 2031: We looked to even the series back up with C.J. Jorgensen (2-3, 4.68 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) facing Chad Brandenburg (5-2, 3.86 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). We got our revenge today, and beat the Pilots 7-1. Jorgensen was dominate, 8 innings with 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki struck out 2 in the 9th. Jackson Miller was 2-for-3 with a two run homer and walk. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, double, and 2 runs scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Takeshi Kinoshia was 1-for-2 with a walk, sac-fly, and solo homer. Rodolof Solorzano was 1-for-3 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Luis Mora was 2-for-4 with a run scored. May 19th, 2031: We remained 2nd in the Power Rankings. At 30-14, we have a 3.5 game lead over the Phillies. Prospect Watch: LF Dan White (AA Jacksonville): Selected in the 2nd Round in 2025, LF Dan White has worked his way up to AAA as a 23-year-old. Now 24, the lefty was never the highest regarded prospect, but he's really shown his talent in the power and eye departments. A plus-plus home run hitter with plus-plus discipline, White has a dangerous combination for the big leagues. He's not a fast player, and doesn't make the most contact, but he's a plus defender in left and with more practice in right as well. He's having a great season in Jacksonville, hitting .362/.510/.613 with 4 homers and 14 RBI's while walking more times (24) then he struck out (23). There's a lot of young talent in the outfield, but White has enough tools to crack a big league roster. Juan Ramirez returned to the lineup for the finale as Juan Moya (5-0, 4.09 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) faced Ken Graham (0-6, 6.45 ERA, 1.86 WHIP). It was a tight contest in the rubber match, but we edged the guests 6-5 to take the series. Maya went 6.2 innings with 8 hits, 5 runs (3 earned), and 6 strikeouts. Juan Razo got the win, tossing 0.2 innings with a walk and 2 strikeouts. Chad Scoles allowed a single, but struck out the side in the 9th for the save. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and steal. Rodolfo Solorzano was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Pat Hughes was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and a walk. Phillies 2B Jon Mattheus improved his hit streak to 25 games. Astros 1B Chris Konowitz was5-for-6 in a 13-7 win over the Angels. The Nationals will come to town for three tomorrow! We'll face Luis Escolastico (1-3, 8.10 ERA), Clint Hinshaw (1-2, 3.67 ERA), and Mike Abrams (0-0, 27.00 ERA). May 20th, 2031: Hoong was diagnosed with a partially torn labrum, and he'll head to the 60-Day DL. I recalled Luis Nevi from AAA to replace him. Chad Bradenburg, who was hurt in our game against the Pilots, will miss the rest of the year with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. In 10 starts, "Black Jack" was 5-3 with a 4.40 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. We opened the Nationals series with Esteban Aguirre (6-0, 1.54 ERA, 0.67 WHIP) facing fellow lefty Luis Escolastico (1-3, 8.10 ERA, 1.85 WHIP). We got 10 hits and took the opener 9-2 behind a strong performance from Aguirre. He improved to 7-0, tossing 6 innings with 4 htis, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 11 strikeouts. The pen combined for 3 innings with 3 hits and 3 strikeouts. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, hit by pitch, and a home run. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a double, 2 runs, RBI, and walk. Agurire was 1-for-2 with a sac-bunt. Roayls 2B Anthony Volpe was 5-for-5 in a 6-2 loss against the Yankees. May 21st, 2031: We looked to win our fourth straight game with Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 4.87 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) facing former Marlin draft pick Clint Hinshaw (1-2, 3.67 ERA, 1.37 WHIP). We let them tie it at 4 in the 9th with a Wander Franco two run homer, but Luis Mora sent the fans home happy with a walk-off two run shot in the bottom of the 9th. Erbakan had a shaky start, 4 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Ken Adeniran tossed 3 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts. Chad Scoles blew the saves, yet got the win, an inning with 3 hits, 2 runs, and 2 strikeouts. Mora didn't just have one homer, he was 2-for-4 with the walk-off and a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 3-for-3 with a run scored and double. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a steal, run scored, and RBI. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a run scored. May 22nd, 2031: Mets CF Pat DeMarco will miss the rest of the year with a broken kneecap. He was hitting .38/.449/.462 in 39 big league at bats. We looked to finish off the sweep with Steve Paustian (2-3, 4.96 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) facing Chris Dorman (7-2, 3.28 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) who skipped a spot to get the start. In a relatively uneventful game, we finished the sweep with a 5-2 win. Paustian tossed 6 strong innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever got a hold, 2 innings with a hit and strikeout. Chad Scoles was much better today, getting the save by striking out the side in the 9th. Pat Hughes was 2-for-4 with a two run homer. Juan Simental was 1-for-2 with 2 runs, 2 walks, a steal, and solo homer. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a double, RBI, and walk. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Luis Mora was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and run scored. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Jon Mattheus' hit streak was ended at 28 games. We get tomorrow off before heading to Ohio for three with the Reds! |

May 23rd-May 29th
May 23rd, 2031: I claimed a former player of mine, Jorge Tapia, off waivers from the Reds. Now 25, he's rated a 2.5/3* and he has options left, so he'll head to AAA.
We had today off, and would actually head to Cincinatti to face the Reds. We'll see former Marlin Devon Peterson (0-1, 3.68 ERA), Tyrese Comier (3-1, 2.89 ERA), and Dave Kinser (1-6, 51.6 ERA). May 24th, 2031: Fan Vote Update: Horvath 3rd for 1B. Ramirez 3rd for LF. Simental 2nd for CF. Frye 2nd for RF. Aguirre 1st for SP. Scoles 1st for RP. We arrived in Cincinatti to start a three game series and were welcomed by Devon Peterson (0-1, 3.68 ERA, 1.43 WHIP). His former teammate C.J. Jorgensen (3-3, 4.11 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) was on the mound for us. Tied at 4 in the 7th, we got 4 runs including a base clearing double by Takeshi Kino****a off former Marlin Sam Stewart. We ended up taking the opener 8-4. Jorgensen went 5.2 innings wiwth 6 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki improved to a perfect 5-0, going 1.1 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Chad Scoles got a strikeout and fly out to end the 9th and earn his 13th save. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a two run homer. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-3 with a run scored, 3 RBI's, a double, and 2 hit by pitches. Luis Mora was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and steal. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double, 2 runs, and a walk. Pat Hughes came off the ebnch and was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 and scored. May 25th, 2031: The middle game sawa Juan Maya (5-0, 4.09 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) take on Tyrese Comier (3-1, 2.89 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). Despite being out-hit 16 to 12, we won 9-5 and would look for the sweep tomorrow. Maya was roughed up, 3.2 innings with 7 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Rodolfo Esquilin got his 8th win of the year, tossing 2.1 innings with 4 hits. Ken Adeniran went 2 innings with 3 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts. Chad Scoles earned the save, allowing a hit and getting the final two outs of the 9th. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a hit by pitch and 3 RBI's. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, and double. Ernie Frye and Mac Horvath were both 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and steal. Jackson Miller was 1-for-2 with a double, 2 walks, 2 RBI's, a sac-fly, and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Rodolfo Solorzano had a pinch hit RBI double and scored in the 7th. May 26th, 2031: I think 2nd is out spot, and that's where we sit in the Power Rankings. Now 36-14, we're up 6 over the Phillies. The Padres sent superstar 3B Bobby Witt Jr. to the Twins for RHP Eric Young, RHP Davon Guinyard, and SS Jorge Espinoza. If Witt stays healthy, which is unlikely, it's an absolute steal for the Twins. Prospect Watch: C Luis Pastrana (A Greensboro): Signed back in 2025 to a $550,000 contract out of the Dominican Republic, Luis Pastrana was never really expected much. He was signed because he was a youngster who could play behind the plate. Known more for his bat now, the 22-year-old lefty is having a great year with the Grasshoppers. In 15 games, he's hitting .315/.383/.667 with 5 homers and 14 RBI's. Pastrana has a plus eye and plus power, and he gets his share of extra base hits. He profiles as a backup catcher in the majors, but with all the neeed for catchers, Pastrana has a bright big league futrue. We couldn't sweep, despite Estevban Aguirre being the projected starter. It's not because he pitched bad, but rain forced the game to be postponed at a later date. We headed home to host the Braves for three. We'll see Curt Schneider (3-3, 2.96 ERA), Bobby Lee (6-1, 2.84 ERA), and Joe LaBrie (5-3, 3.51 ERA). May 27th, 2031: Yesterday's scheduled starter Esteban Aguirre (7-0, 1.68 ERA, 0.70 WHIP) took on Curt Schneider (3-3, 2.96 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) in the opener with Atlanta. The day off didn't phase him too much, and we topped the Braves 4-1 to keep our streak going. Aguirre did only pitch 5.1 innings, but he allowed just 5 hits, 1 run, and he struck out 13. Shiro Hiraki, Josh Cronin, and Juan Razo earned holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Those four relievers tossed 3.2 perfect innings with 5 strikeouts. Jon Reid was 2-for-3 with a walk, double, and run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Rogelio Solorzano was 1-for-3 with a two run homer. Juan Simental was 1-for-2 with a run scored, walk, and hit by piptch. Luis Mora came off the bench adn was 1-for-2 with a steal and RBI. May 28th, 2031: We looked to push our win streak to 9th with Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 4.84 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) facing 27-year-old breakout rookie Bobby Lee (6-1, 2.84 ERA, 0.95 WHIP). Tied at 7 in the 9th, Ernie Frye took Esteban Bravo deep and we walked-off 9-7 winners. Erbakan had 4 hits and 4 runs in 5 innings with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. Luis Nevi tossed 2 innings with 2 strikeouts and got a hold. Juan Razo allowed 2 hits and 2 runs without getting an out. C.J. LaFever allowed a hit, who later scored, to the only batter he faced. Chad Scoles got the win, striking out 2 in a perfect 9th. Mac Horvath was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI's and a walk. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Frye was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and the big two run homer. Rodolfo Solorzano was 1-for-3 with a RBI, walk, and hit by pitch. Pat Hughes was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, a walk, and hit by ptich. Jackson Miller was 1-for-1 with a run scored off the bench. May 29th, 2031: We looked to pull of the sweep and stretch out win streak to 10 with Steve Paustian (3-3, 4.75 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) facing former Marlin Joe LaBrie (5-3, 3.51 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). With every position advanage, we limited the Braves lineup in a 4-1 win to cap off another sweep. Paustian tossed 5 innings with 6 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Nevi, LaFever (who struck out the side in the 7th), and Esquilin got holds while Ken Adeniran picked up the save. He tossed 1.2 innings with 2 strikeouts. Luis Mora was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 with a RBI and 2 walks. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-2 with a run scored, RBI, and 2 walks. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Off to Arizona for three with the Diamondbacks! We'll face Luis Aguilar (1-4, 8.06 ERA), Mike Steele (3-1, 2.87 ERA), and Jeff Slezak (2-5, 3.92 ERA). |

Some Bad News...
So this really sucks...
My computer is completely broken, supposed motherboard problems, and it doesnt look too good. Despite having gameplay all the way up to June of 2032, it looks like this may be the end of this dynasty. As sad as it is for me, I hope whoever read this enjoyed, but for now I have to put this on indefinite leave.. |

May 30th-June 5th
May 30th, 2031: The Boston Red Sox acquired LF Stephon Canada from the Athletics for SS Ismael Oliveros, former Marlin 1st Rounder LHP Eric Richer, and LHP Ken Lentz. It's a good return for the A's.
We looked for win 40 on the season at Chase Field. C.J. Jorgensen (3-3, 4.34 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) took on Luis Aguilar (1-4, 8.06 ERA, 1.91 WHIP) to open up the three game set. The hosts got 3 in the 8th and won the opener 7-4, stopping out streak at 10. Jorgensen had a rough start, 3.1 innings with 3 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks, and 4 strikeotus. Ken Adeniran tossed 3.2 innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Luis Nevi was charged with the loss, 0.1 innings with 2 hits, 3 runs, and a walk. Luis Mora was 2-for-3 with a double and solo homer. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a steal. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a three run homer. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a double. Adeniran was 1-for-3 with a run scored. May 31st, 2031: Fan vote update: Horvath is 3rd for 1B. Ramirez is 3rd for LF. Simental 2nd for CF. Ernie Frye 3rd for RF. Aguirre 1st for SP. Scoles 1st for RP. Aguirre is also the leading vote getter, which he likely has been the enitre time. We looked to end May with a win and even the series with Zona up as Juan Maya (5-0, 4.47 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) looked to stay perfect agianst Arizona's young ace Mike Steele (3-1, 2.87 ERA, 1.14 WHIP). We took a 5-0 lead after a 4 run third, and curised to a 8-4 win to improve to 40-15 after the first two months. Maya pitched well, 5 innings with 4 hits, a run, walk, and strikeout. Siro Hiraki allowed 2 hits and 2 runs in an inning. Juan Razo tossed 2 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 5 strikeouts. Gregorio Alvarenga was 3-for-3 with a run scored, 2 walks, 4 RBI's, and a double. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with 3 runs, an RBI, double, and 2 steals. Ernie Frye was 2-for-4 with 3 runs, a walk, and steal. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a walk, run scored, and RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Jon Reid was 1-for-5 with a double. Rangers LF Eric Coates was 5-for-5 in a 5-2 win over the Yankees. June 1st, 2031: Senators righty Mike Delk will miss the rest of the season with a torn flexor tendon. In 9 starts, he was 3-3 with a 5.00 ERA and 1.39 WHIP.s Esteban Aguirre was named NL Pitcher of the Month. Our superstar was 5-0 with a 1.09 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 33 innings. He's definitely been worth the $45,030,000 he's being paid this year! Never thought I'd type that in a non-sarcastic situation. Luis Mora was named Rookie of the Month. He hit .362 with 8 homers and 19 RBI's. We looked to win the rubber match as Esteban Aguirre (8-0, 1.68 ERA, 0.73 WHIP) took on Jeff Slezak (2-5, 3.92 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) in the final. Aguirre was flatout dominate, and we shut destroyed the hosts 11-0! Aguirre went 8 innings with just 2 hits and 13 strikeouts. He's now a perfect 9-0 with a 1.51 ERA, 0.68 WHIP, and 110 strikeouts in 12 starts (77.2 innigns). Ernie Frye doubled the Diamondbacks hit total, going 4-for-5 with a run scored and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, and homer. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with a pair of two run homeres and a hit by pitch. Aguirre matched the amount of hits he allowed, going 2-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a homer, a walk, and steal. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Luis Mora was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored. We'll head back home to Colorado for three with the Rockies. We'll see Tim Cate (0-6, 6.75 ERA), Eric Dawson (6-3, 3.84 ERA), and Juan Ventura (4-3, 4.96 ERA). June 2nd, 2031: Down in New Orleans, LF Mike Smedley was named Player of the Week. He went 14-for-31 with 3 homers and 9 RBI's. We jumped over the Orioles and took 1st in the Power Rankings. At an impressive 41-15, we have a 6.5 game lead over the Phillies who would be in first in the AL Central, AL West, and NL West. Baltimore actually has a better record then us, and are 43-14. Not sure they're gonna get swept in the World Series again... I optioned Luis Nevi to AAA and recalled Danny Dempsey. Prospect Watch: RF Jorge Escobar (AAA New Orleans): Despite fracturing his finger in April and missing 6 weeks, Jorge Escobar has been on fire when he's healthy. 23 today, Escobar has gotten into 12 games, hitting an impressive .388/.436/.755 with 4 homers and 9 RBI's. Debuting last year, Escobar hit .261/.320/.304 with 2 RBI's in 23 at bats. The lefty has really improved defensively as he's worked on turning his elite speed into better range. He's got an absolute cannon in the outfield and he'll catch nearly everythign he can run to. As a hitter, he has a rare top notch power-speed combo and has legit 20/20 potential. He's got an elite eye, wont' strike out too much, and makes a ton of contact. And when he hits it, it goes far and high. He's only rated our 18th best prospect, but is a 2.5/3.5* with a ton of value. The Rockies came to town and threw former Marlin Tim Care (0-6, 6.75 ERA, 1.75 WHIP) against Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 5.07 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) in what should be a high scoring game. It wasn't too high scoring, but we came away 6-2 winners. Takeshi Kino****a was ejected in the 3rd inning after charging the mound after getting hit by Tim Cate. Benches cleared and punches were thrown. Erbakan pitched alright, 5 innings with 5 hits and 2 runs, but 4 walks and 9 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever picked up the win, allowing a hit, walk, and he struck out 2 in the 7th inning. Juan Razo pitched the 8th, allowing a walk while striking out the side and earning a hold. Juan Simental was 3-for-5 with 3 doubles and an RBI. Rodolfo Solorzano was 1-for-2 with a walk and solo homer. Jarred Kelenic came off the bench and was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with a walk, steal, and run scored. Pat Hughes was 1-for-4 with a walk and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Kino****a will just be suspended 3 games. June 3rd, 2031: Game two saw Steve Paustian (4-3, 4.50 ERA, 1.48 WHIP) face Eric Dawson (6-3, 3.84 ERA, 1.31 WHIP). Paustian was great, and we cruised to a 7-1 victory. Paustian tossed 7.1 innings with just 3 hits, 3 walks, a run, and 6 strikeouts. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, steal, and 3 RBI's. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with a run scored and steal. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and steal. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a run scored, hit by pitch, and RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, double, and walk. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Ken Adeniran came off the bench as a pinch runner, and was 1-for-1 with 2 runs, an RBI, and 2 steals. Ken Adeniran, my bust first round pick, may have found himself at 28. He's no longer a 5* potential, but he's had a really solid campaign. As a pitcher, he has a 1.79 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts in 45.1 innigns. He's also hitting .353/.389/.353 with 2 steals and 2 RBI's in 17 at bats. He's a team captain, and has been extremely valuable for us since returning to Miami. Down in Greensboro, 2B Jorge Serna was 5-for-7 in a 12 inning affair. The Grasshoppers beat thee Delmarva Shorebirds 7-6 from a walk-off single of Serna's. June 4th, 2031: The Cardinals will be without SP Lenny Torres for the year with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. The 30-year-old was 3-2 with a 4.26 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 12 starts. He struck out 65 and walked just 5 in 63.1 innings. Torres has possibly the best control in the MLB, and has never walked more then 30 batters in a year. Kansas City will be withotu Dilmer Mejia for the year with a torn labrum in his shoulder. With Seattle and Kansas City, he has a 4.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 27 innings. He was much better with the Royals in 25.2 innings, with a 2.81 ERA and 0.82 WHIP with 15 strikeouts and 4 walks. One more season ender, as Expos righty Jeff Templeton tore a elbow ligament. In 28 games out of the pen, he was 2-0 with a 4.63 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, and he struck out 34 in 35 innings. The Senators shipped RHP Sean Gaska, LF Alfredo Alejo, and cash to the White Sox for RHP J.J. Watkins, LHP Pete Oberlies, and RHP Juan Ulloa. I like this deal for the White Sox. The brooms were ready as C.J. Jorgensen (3-3, 4.70 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) took on Juan Ventura (4-3, 4.96 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) in the finale. Despite trailing 5-0, we scored 7 unanswered runs to finish the sweep with a 7-5 comeback win! Jorgensen struggled, lasting just 3.1 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Danny Dempsey got the win, 2.2 innings with 2 strikeouts. Josh Cronin, C.J. LaFever, and Juan Razo picked up holds while Chad Scoles notched the save. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, a walk, and homer. Rodolfo Solorzano was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and a hit by pitch. Luis Mora was 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch, walk, and double. Sergio Tellow as 1-for-3 with an RBI. Dempsey was 1-for-1 with a run scored. We get tomorrow off, but it's the Amateur Draft! June 5th, 2031: After the draft, we'll head to Milwaukee for three with the Brewers. We'll see Rodolfo Espinoza (5-4, 5.99 ERA), Victor Mederos (3-4, 6.19 ERA), and Kevin Addario (2-0, 2.78 ERA). But first, the 2031 Amateur Draft! It feels great to be back! |

Amateur Draft
The Montreal Expos owned the 1st pick in the draft for the second straight year. Last year, they selected SS Ethan Turlington from UCLA and this year they went with CF Chris Campbell from Greenbrier High School in Greenbrier Tenessee. I have Campbell rated a 3*, but OSA lists him as a 4.5* and his offensive ratings are insane.
1st Round, 29th Overall: 3B Joe Allwine (3.5): I really didn't like what was available, but Joe Allwine is no scrub. Selected out of Maranatha Christian in Tallahassee, the Florida Native looks like a future big league regular. He's not much of a defender, but he has a 94 rated arm in the infield. He's got a plus-plus eye, plus power, and plus contact with plus-plus speed. He won't steal too many bases however, but the speed translates to average range at the hot corner. He's really prone to comitting errors and he doesn't do the best job at turning double plays. He's a raw prospect, but no other available player matches his upside. 1st Round, 40th Overall: SP Sergio Davalos (3): Origionally selected by the Red Sox in the 3rd Round of the 2028 Draft, Sergio Davalos rose up the draft boards after three incredible years at Portland. The Puerto Rican Native was born in Adjuntas, PON, but moved to Huntington, WV as a kid where he attended high school at St. Joseph Central. "Moondog" has a great three pitch arsenal that features a plus-plus sinker, elite curveball, and plus-plus changeup. The sinker can touch triple digits and he racks up a ton of groundball outs. He's got plus movement, but just average control, so he may struggle a little with walks. He's got middle of the rotation potential, and is pretty developed as a college starter. 1st Round, 45th Overall: SP Luis Lomas (3): I went back and forth between Davalos and Luis Lomas for my last pick, so I was happy that Lomas was there at 45. A junior from Kentucky, Lomas also projects as a middle of a rotation arm. The 21-year-old throws four pitches, a plus-plus fastball, average sinker, plus change, and plus-plus forkball with plus-plus overall stuff. He's an extreme groundballer who sits at 94-96 with the hard stuff. The righty has plus-plus movement, but like Davalos, struggles with his control. He's got nice stamina, a ton of energy for baseball, and is ahead of most developing young arms. 2nd Round, 75th Overall: SP Shawn Merrifield (2.5): Considering the only signable players left above 2.5* are borderline starters and a glove-first infielder, I'm fine with taking a flier on the young Sean Merrifield. He reminds me a lot like Sean Clark, who looks like a futrue closer. Merrifield has plus-plus stuff as a starter with average movement and control. He throws 90-92 and keeps the ball on the ground. He has elite stamina, but is still looking to solidify his third pitch. He has a plus sinker, plus cutter, and below average change up. The Texas native likely will never develop his change, but he could be a lethal arm out of the pen. 2nd Round, 76th Overall: SP Jonathan Kidd (2.5): Back-to-back picks, and I took the other borderline starter in Jonathan Kidd. A lefty as opposed to the righty Merrifield, Kidd is more borderline, with subpar stamina and a worse third pitch. Kidd does have better stuff, with a plus sinker and elite slider, but he sits at 87-89. He's an extreme groundballer and throws for a decepite 3/4th arm slot. He's got plus movement and average control, but will likely end up pitching the late innings instead of starting the game. 3rd Round, 110th Overall: C Art Hubbard (3.5): I'd like to see if I can convince the Baldwin, PA native to forego college and sign with us. He's an average defender behind the plate, but his real value is in his bat. He's got plus contact, power, and eye. He'll find the gaps a lot and won't strike out too much either. Just 17, he's got a lot of development left, but he's a high risk, high reward pick. 4th Round, 146th Overall: SS Raheem Obear (2.5): Hello glove first infielder! Raheem Obear is a solid defender, with the range for short and the arm for third. He's slick when turning the double play, but he'll make his share of errors for his lack of hustle. He's not the fastest player, but he has great instincts. At the plate, he has Mac Horvath power and eye. He won't strike out too much, but he doesn't make enough contact. He's a nice off the bench piece, but I'm not sure if he can be an everyday starter. 5th Round, 180th Overall: CL Dan Gall (2.5): Yeah, it's that bad... Nothing against Gall, a senior stopper from Western Carolina, but he's what I'd like in a 10th Round pick not 5th Round pick... His stuff is unmatched, rated an even 100 with a 90 fastball and 91 sinker. He hits triple digits and the righty thros from a 3/4 arm slot. His movement and control isn't the best, but he'll make a living overpower hitters in the middle innings. 6th Round, 214th Overall: CF Rogelio Fletes (3): I'm going to try to convince him to sign. A speedy and verstaile player, Fletes can play anywhere on the diamond minus the battery. In the outfield, he's got elite range and an elite arm. In the infield, he has plus-plus range and arm. He's got plus-plus power and contact from the right side of the plate, and he'll hit his share of extra base hits. He'll strike out a lot, but he does enough to make it worth it. 7th Round, 248th Overall: RP Nate Grover (2.5): Selected out of Washington, Nate Grover is actually a borderline starter. The senior started 17 games for Washington, but he needs to work on his changeup if he wants to start in the majors. He's got elite stuff with below average movement and control. He hits 95-97 with his 90 rated fastball, and he throws a hard, plus slider. If Grover can develop his change, he might actually be a solid pick here. 8th Round, 282nd Overall: CF J.D. Berkbigler (2.5): Won't sign, but I might convince him otherwise. A speedy lefty, J.D. Berkbigler not only has a great name, but great range in center. He doesn't have the best arm, but he can definitely stick in center. He's a smart hitter, but he won't hit the ball to hard and his best friend is an infield single. College could help polish his bat, but I like what I see so far. 9th Round, 316th Overall: CF Jim Branch (2): Another speedy outfielder, Jim Branch is a better defender then Berkbigler with his range equal. But as you would expect, the "Hypnotist" isn't nearly as good of a hitter. What Branch does have is power, but it's swing and miss power. He won't make a ton of contact, and that's his main weakness. 10th Round, 350th Overall: SP Jaime Baker (1): Yeah, there isn't much starting pitching left.. Jaime Baker isn't a future star, but he definitely has his upside. With elite stamina, he'll soak up innings with his elite knuckleball. He also has a average slider and changeup with plus stuff. The crafty righty doesn't have the best control, but if he masters the knuckler he can be a dangerous arm. 11th Round, 384th Overall: SP Ken Easter (2): Don't get your hopes up, the lefty says he won't sign. Ken Easter doesn't blow poeople away yet, but you can expect him to gain veolcity as he grows up (just 17). He's got elite stuff, elite stamina, and plus control. He features a 93 rated curveball, plus fastball, average splitter, and useless change up. He's got along way to go, but he's got a ton of potential as a future big leaguer. 12th Round, 418th Overall: CF Luis Arrellano (2): A Puerto Rico native, Luis Arrelano has great speed and great range in center. He's got a plus arm as well, but he doesn't catch every ball he should. Offensively he has a plus eye and average power and contact, but he'll still have his share of strikeotus. He's young and raw, but he can crack a big league roster. 13th Round, 452nd Overall: C Josh Daigle (2): Josh Daigle has an interesting mix of defense and offense. He projects to be a plus catcher with a plus arm. As a hitter, he has plus power and a plus eye. He's a very average player, with most of his ratings in the 50-60 range (except running) and his talent will always be in demand as a catcher. 14th Round, 486th Overall: SS Steve Evangelisti (2): A glove first defender, Steve Evangelisti flaunts elite range and a plus-plus arm. He can stick at short, or fill in at third or second depending where the need is. He's fast and a decent base stealer, but often makes mistakes on the basepaths. He's got a great eye at the plate, but won't ever really have a high slugging percentage. 15th Round, 520th Overall: C Sam Zamor (2): Won't sign. "Big Z" is a Brooklyn boy who's bat is ahead of his glove. He likely projects as a below average defender at the plate with an average arm at best. He is a plus contact hitter with a plus eye, and can be an effective replacement catcher. 16th Round, 554th Overall: CF Tim Friedrichsen (2): I think im Freidrichsen is a little underrated. Blue Jays took him in the 31st Round last year out of High School, and he spent a season at Norwich. He's a future gold glover in the outfield with plus-plus range and an elite arm. He'll catch almost anything he can track down and is a great baserunner with great speed. He's an average hitter who may strike out a lot, but he's an interesting late round gem to watch. 17th Round, 588th Overall: SS Camden Moulds (2): A native of Canada, Camden Moulds is a speedy infielder who doesn't quite have a position. He's got the range for short and arm for third, but he doesn't turn too man double plays and isn't the most surehanded. He's got plus eye and power and won't strike out too much. He's extremely raw, but a great influence to keep around in the clubhouse. 18th Round, 622nd Overall: SP Doug White (0.5): I've taken a ton of hitters, so I switch to pitchers for the time being. Doug White, a Junior from North Dakota State was the Twins 24th Round Pick in 2028. He's got average stuff and control, but has a ton of stamina. The lefty throws a fastball, sinker, and changeup and sits around 90-92. 19th Round, 656th Overall: SP Chris Annette (0.5): Born in West Perrine, FL, Chris Annette was a 15th Round Pick by the Astros in 2027. He went to Lynn College in Boca Raton to stay close to home, but he dropped in draft boards after a rough junior and senior year. Annette features a plus-plus fastball, plus curve, and developing change. 20th Round, 690th Overall: CF Andy Hoek (1.5): Most of what's left is 1.5* centerfielders that will drop once moved to the position their better at (in this case RF), glove only shortstops, and catchers. So I went with the speedy Andy Hoek. I actually think his future lies in center, not right, but his 24 outfield error rating is a little annoying. He's got a plus arm and elite range, so he should be a much better defender then he is. He's got plus contact and will rarely strike out, but there is very little special here. 21st Round, 724th Overall: CL Chris Green (1): A senior out of Bryant College, Chris Green has the ability to pitch multiple innings out of the pen because he was a 2-pitch starter in college. He has plus-plus stuff with a plus-plus fastball and change up. He is a flyball pitcher, mainly because his pitches don't get any movement on them. He's a low ceiling, low floor pick. 22nd Round, 758th Overall: CF Kevin Foster (0.5): He's listed as a centerfeilder, but I'm going to use him as a two way player. A better pitcher then hitter, Kevin Foster has plus-plus stuff with a elite change up and plus fastball that sits at 92-94. Like Green, he's a flyballer pitcher that will give up his share of homers. He's a one inning guy out of the pen, but has interesting upside. He's not much of a hitter, but he's got good speed and is a good defender. 23rd Round, 792nd Overall: SP Jadon Waiton (0.5): If Jadon Waiton had a time machine, he'd likely use it to travel back to 2028 and sign with the Astros, who took him in the 6th Round. After attending St. John's, Waiton had a terrible college career, but still declared for the draft this season. I'm purely betting on his past upside with this pick, as he doesn't look much more then minor league filler. He does graze triple digits, however, so there is always that. 24th Round, 826th Overall: SS Chris Cawley (1.5): Won't sign. Like most guys left, great fielder, terrible hitter. Cawley has elite range and a plus arm, but doesn't have the softest hands. He's an alright hitter, but he's got a lot of work to do. 25th Round, 860th Overall: CF C.J. Schneider (1.5): He's got plus range and a plus arm, and should develop into a great outfielder at all three spots. He's got a good eye and makes good contact. The weird thing is he strikes out a ton and has no power. He looks like a career minor leaguer. 26th Round, 894th Overall: SS Keyln Guffin (1.5): A Canadian native, Keyln Guffin isn't the worst hitter out there. He's got average power and an average eye, but he's suceptible to striking out. He's a decent runner with plus range and a plus arm in the infield. He can stick at short, but could effortlessly learn third and second. He always keeps his head up and should be a great influence in the farm. 27th Round, 928th Overall: C Eric Ardison (1.5): Eric Ardison is a conflicted defnsive catcher. He doesn't have an arm, but is great at calling the game and framing. He's got a great eye at the plate and is an average hitter for a catcher. 28th Round, 962nd Overall: SS Brad Haskell (1.5): A Forest Park, IL native, Brad Haskell might have the best range of any high school infielder. He's got the potential to become an eltie defender at short and he can field almost anything hit anywhere near him. He's got plus contact, but is a light-hitting fly-ball hitter. If that makes sense... 29th Round, 996th Overall: SP P.D. Berquist (0.5): Man what a name! He sounds like a private detective or TV show character. He's set on going to college, where he should improve as a pitcher. He has a plus curveball and plus stamina. 30th Round, 1,030th Overall: SP Jerrod Forsyth (0.5): Won't sign. A balanced pitcher, Jerrod Forsyth is very consistent with all his tools. He's nothing special now, but could blossom after college. 31st Round, 1,064th Overall: CF Gilberto Mendoza (0.5): Won't sign. A switch hitter from Puerto Rico, Gilberto Mendoza is a speedy defensive outfielder. He'll catch almost anything hit near him and he has a plus arm. He's a terrible hitter who strikes out way too much, but he's got some time to work out the kinks in his swing. 32nd Round, 1,098th Overall: SP Alex Springer (0.5): Won't sign. He's got 100 stamina, so that's pretty cool. He has absolutely no control, so hopefully Alex Springer can improve in college to move up. 33rd Round, 1,132nd Overall: SP Eric Moreau (0.5): Undrafted out of High School, Eric Moreau went to Greater New Bedford RVT where he earned his degree. The 22-year-old has 100 stamina and a plus slider. He averages 88-90, and can eat up a ton of minor league innings. 34th Round, 1,166th Overall: SP Josh Thompson (0.5): Won't sign. He's got elite stamina and average control with an average cutter, plus curveball, and below average change. If he can develop his change in college, he could earn a second look. 35th Round, 1,200th Overall: C Eric Sink (1.5): Honestly, he shouldn't have fallen this fall. He's rated a 70 for both arm and ability behind the plate, and he's not an awful hitter by any means. He could get lucky and turn into the next Jonathan Trytek. 36th Round, 1,234th Overall: SP Eric Fleary (0.5): Won't sign. Elite stamina, a plus changeup, and average control. That somes up current Eric Fleary. 37th Round, 1,268th Overall: 1B Jorge Vivanco (0.5): Won't sign. He's got a plus eye, but lacks power and defensive ability. He could break out in college, but I wouldn't bet on it. 38th Round, 1,302nd Overall: SP Nate Mattingly (0.5): Legacy pick! For story's sake, Nate Mattingly is the the grand son of former Marlins manager and Yankees 1B Don Mattingly. I wish he'd sign, because he has elite stamina and a plus knuckleball. Expect a future star here. 39th Round, 1,336th Overall: SS Greg Negrete (0.5): He basically has the chance to become Jonathon Trytek. An extremely fast shortstop, Greg Negrete was the 34th Round selection of the Giants in 2027, but he decided to head to Notre Dame. It wasn't as planned, as his junior year was rough. He rebounded enough his senior year, and caught mye eye with his speed. He's an elite defender, but he's basically fully developed offensively at 36/42/9/15/32. 40th Round, 1,370th Overall: SP Mike McCabe (0.5): The last selection for me this year is Mike McCabe, a righty from West Jordan, Utah. He's got 100 stamina, plus control, and a plus change. He throws jsut 85-87 with his fastball, but he uses his change and sinker much more. He doesn't have the best movement and relies more on working the corners then fooling players. Here's where my unsinged 2028 guys went: 3rd Rounder: RHP Sergio Arenas: Selected by the Rockies in the 3rd Round 8th Rounder: CF Sean Moody: Selected in the 8th Round by Oakland 13th Rounder: CF Jake Maxey: Selected by the White Sox in the 2nd Round 17th Rounder: CF Mike Klein: Returned for his senior year 21st Rounder: CF Eric Watts: Selected by the Senators in the 38th Round, released. 24th Rounder: C Ezra Morris: Selected in the 8th Round by Kansas City 30th Rounder: 3B Bobby Gollihue: Returned for his senior year 34th Rounder: 3B Murdock Laviolette: Selected by the Cardinals in the 14th Round 35th Rounder: RHP Redmond Norling: Returned for his senior year. 36th Rounder: LHP Chad Monk: Selected in the 15th Round by Arizona 40th Rounder: LHP Jeremy Lapes: Will return for his senior year Most of the guys were re-selected! In honor of the 2021 class, here's a little recap of all the guys selected: Current Major Leaguer: 1st Round: RHP/LF Ken Adeniran: Here's a funny one, I thought for sure he'd be a bust, but here he is, hitting over .350 in the majors with a ERA below 2. A little lucky, perhaps, especially hitting, but he's turned into a productive reliever. In 109.1 innings with the Cubs and Marlins, he has a 3.46 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 115 strikeouts and just 11 walks. As a hitter with the Rangers, Cubs, and Marlins, he hit .284/.293/.379 in 100 plate appearences with 14 RBI's and 3 steals. Retired Minor Leauger: 2nd Round: RHP Jeremy Kulhman: Injuries man... I was able to acquired Nick Gordon with a package consisting of Kulhman, who was still a top pitching prospect in my system. Once injuries hit, Kulhman's skills declined and he started his last game in 2024. He made 1 appearence in AA. 3rd Round: RF Sergio Varas: This was just a bad pick... After spending 2021-2027 in our organization, he made 2 appearences with the West Palm Beach Expos before retirign. He henevr passed AA and never hit better then .260/.350/.400 in his minor league career. 4th Round: RHP Josh Windom: The injuries here were even worse... Josh Windom looked like a future ace, and I gave him a ton of money to skip college. He got injured in August of 2021, and then had a huge setback on New Years day, basically ending his career there. He toiled in the minors from 2021-2029. He became a Free Agent after the 2027 season before going to the Brewers and Royals (never played) organization. 5th Round: 1B Tim Webb: Webb only spent one year with us before being traded to Kansas City in 2022, where he was instantly released. He then spent time bouncing around orgnaization to organization before spending 2024-2027 in the Angels organization. The Expos signed im in 2029 for their system, but he retired after the year. 6th Round: RHP Luis Gerladino: Yeah, not sure whay happened here. He spent 2 years in the DSL before being released in 2023. He then retired the following year. He made 24 minor league starts and was just 1-11 with 64 walks and only 27 strikeouts. Yikes... 7th Round: C Ismael Castillo: He spent a year with us before being released. He spent time in the Cardinals, Rockies, Mariners, and A's organization before retiring in 2028. He got 11 at bats in AA. 8th Round: RHP Robby Moreno: Moreno may not have been a star, but he was an effective enough reliever for the minors. He spent 2021-2028 with us before pitching for both Pittsburgh and Detroit's farm teams in 2029. He retired after the season ended. 9th Round: 3B Nate Starwalt: Traded in 2022 to the Blue Jays. He was released a little bit after, and retired in 2024 after not playing again after a 3 game audition with the GCL Blue Jays. 10th Round: 2B Pete Broadhead: Traded in 2023 to the Rockies with future big leaguers Arturo Romo and Mike Sapienza. He was released in 2025, and then retired in 2027. 11th Round: RHP Billy Probst: Spent 2021-2028 in the organization before becoming a minor league free agent. He spent a little time with the Rangers and Reds in 2029 before retiring. He had a solid 2.64 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 439.1 minor league innings, but he never reached AAA. 15th Round: LHP Chris Kurek: I selected him in the 29th Round in 2020 as well, but I released him before he played a game with us. He caught on with the Cubs, Brewers, and Braves minor league clubs, ut never really did much. He retired in 2026 and last played in 2024. 16th Round: 1B Eric Lucas: Traded to the Royals in 2022. Spent 2022-2026 with them before being released midseason. He then signed with the Rockies and Orioles and last played in 2027. He retired in 2029, but played in 6 AAA games with the Norfolk Tides. 17th Round: Tim Hubbell: I also drafted him twice, a 23rd Rounder in 2018. I released him and then re-signed him in the 2021 season. I then traded him to the Yankees in 2022. He stayed with them until being released in 2023, and then he retired in 2024. 19th Round: LF Jorge Esquivel: He spent 2021-2023 in our organization. He was released in 2024 and retired in 2025. 20th Round: CF Bob Guerin: Traded to the Rockies in 2022. They released him later in the year. He didn't play again until 2023 where he spent tiem with the Rangers, Astros, White Sox, and Yankees. He signed again with the Cardinals in 2024, but was released at the end of the season and later retired in 2026. 22nd Round: 1B Jim Schluter: Spent 2021 and 2022 in the GCL. Released in 2023 and retired in 2024. 24th Round: RHP Rogelio Velo: Releaed in 2023 after spending 2021 and 2022 in the farm. Signed with the Mets and Pirates. Last played in 2026 and retired in 2028. 27th Round: 2B Josh Presley: Released before playing a game with us. Signed with the Rangers in 2022, but didn't debut until 2023 with the Yankees. He spent time in the Royals and Rays organization. Last played in 2026 and retired in 2028. 29th Round: LF Jaheim Broomes: Spent 2021-2027 in the Marlins organization. He finished with a .257/.328/.534 line with 16 homers and 126 RBI's in 1,073 at bats. Retired in 2029. 30th Round: RHP Cort Horstman: Released after one season. Signed with Minnesota in 2022, but spent just 2 days before getting cut. Spent time with the Nationals, Braves, Mets, Red Sox, and Padres. Last pitched in 2026, but was under contract for part of 2027 and 2028. Retired in 2028. 32nd Round: SS Bubba Pfleger: Spent one season in the GCL before getting sent to Kansas City in 2022. Released after. Signed with the Padres, but didn't play with them. Spent 2023 between the Rockies and Brewers organization. Retired in 2025. 36th Round: C Joe DeLong: Released before debuting with us, but signed with Arizona and Pittsburgh in 2022. Spent time with Tampa, Toronto, Minnesota, and Philadelphia as well. Played in 2022, and 2024-2027. Wow! That has to be the worst draft class ever! If it wasn't for Ken Adeniran's late resurgence/my attachement to former picks, none of these guys may have even been on a big league roster. Kuhlman and Windom both had service time, but neither was healthy enough to debut. I may have been terrible drafting this year, but the 2021 draftee with the most big league at bats is Noah Smith, who spent 3 seasons in Miami. A lot of studs were taken in this class, including Luke Leto, Jim Gilbert, Brady House, Mitch Hart, and Bobby Holloway. Former Marlin big leaguers or minor leaguers who have big league experience include Mike Siani, Devonte Brown, Palban Gamboa, Jake Taylor, Tristan Hanoian, Nate Bagwell, Matt Hogan, Chris Shaughnessy, Eric Armstrong, as well as draftee Dominic Pipkin (2018) and current Marlins Josh Cronin and Jon Reid. Biggest busts? The Royals selected Luis Rivera 5th overall. He pitched in just 12 games with the AZL Royals before retiring in 2026. Biggest letdown? Tra'Mayne Blackburn was one of the most hyped prospects, but injuries severely derailed his career. After a promising rookie campaign, the injuries jsut kept piling up and he really only had one good season in 2028 where he made 16 starts and went 4-2 with a 2.85 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts. 1st Rounders yet to debut (7/34): Luis Rivera (KC, 5th), Whitney Fudge (PIT, 8th), Mike Alpery (OAK, 10th), Luis Araiza (SD, 17th), Jerry LaFleur (TOR, 25th), Steve Cobb (HOU, 32nd), and Steve Masters (LAD, 33rd). All were pitchers, as every hitter made his big league debut. Back to baseball! |

June 6th-June 11th
June 6th, 2031: Luis Alcantra, who I totally forgot to option and re-disable, suffered a setback and will miss 1-2 more weeks.

June 8th, 2031: We looked to finish off the sweep with Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 4.94 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) facing D.J. Jefferson (2-4, 4.39 ERA, 1.14 WHIP). We did just enough to win, and increased our win streak to 8 with a 6-4 win to finish off the sweep. Erbakan went 5.1 innings with 7 htis, 3 runs, a walk, and 9 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever, Josh Cronin, and Juan Razo earned holds while Chad Scoles got the save. Scoles, however, allowed a hit, run, walk, and got a strikeout in an inning. At 47-15, we have a 10 game lead over the Phillies. We opened the Expos series with Steve Paustian (5-3, 4.14 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) looking to stay hot against Erich Uelman (0-0, 5.28 ERA, 1.43 WHIP). I don't know what happened today, and the Expos destroyed us 14-4 to shock the home fans. Paustian was tagged for 6 runs off 5 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings. He struck out 5. Danny Dempsey allowed 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and struck out 2 in 2 innings. Ken Adeniran was hit really hard, allowing 6 hits and 6 runs with 2 strikeouts in an inning of work. Takeshi Kino****a was 2for-3 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Mac Horvath had a RBI triple in the 7th. June 11th, 2931: 2nd Rounder Shawn Merrifield agreed to a $300,000 bonus. We had the right guy on the mound for the finale, with Esteban Aguirre (10-0, 1.49 ERA, 0.70 WHIP) facing Sergio Liciaga (2-4, 4.03 ERA, 1.11 WHIP). Tied at 2 in the 9th, Juan Ramirez hit a walk-off solo homers, and we won the finale 3-2. Aguirre tossed 6.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 12 strikeouts. June 12th-June 17th
June 12th, 2031: 3rd Rounder Art Hubbard declined by generous $4+ million offer, and will head to college.
Baltimore will be without RHP Mason Barnett for the season with a damaged elbow ligamenet. He was 2-1 with a 5.33 ERA in 28 relief appearences. The Mariners will be without RHP Juan Villasenor for the year with a shoulder inflmamation. In 14 starts, he was 5-5 with a 5.02 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 71 strikeouts in 71.2 innings. His teammate, fellow righty Juan Casanova, tore his labrum and will also miss the duration of the year. He had a 1.60 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 24 strikeouts in 33.2 innings. A third Mariner in LHP Mike Crocker is out for the season as well, with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. The 24-year-old was 3-4 with a 4.74 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 13 starts with 58 strikeouts in 76 innigns. Losing three pitchers the same day is insane... We were in LA for a three game series with the Dodgers. Juan Maya (6-0, 4.27 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) looked to stay perfect against the red hot B.J. Russow (5-6, 3.05 ERA, 1.04 WHIP). It was a tight one, but we edged them out 2-1 to win our 50th game of the year. Maya went 6 strong with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 6 strikeouts. Josh Cronin and C.J. LaFever got holds before Chad Scoles picked up the save. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles. Jackson Miller was 1-for-2 with a double and sac-fly. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Rodolfo Solorzano was 1-for-3 with a walk. June 13th, 2031: We looked to take the series a day early with Dursun Erbakan (3-1, 4.95 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) facing Nate Ransom (3-3, 5.54 ERA, 1.37 WHIP). We broke away with 5 in the 8th, and won 10-5. Erbakan got the win, allowing 2 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks, and he struck out 7. Ken Adeniran got a hold, 2.2 innings with 2 hits, a run, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Juan Ramirez was 4-for-5 with 3 runs, 5 RBI's, a double, and homer. Ernie Frye was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. June 14th, 2031: Fan vote update: Horvath is 3rd for 1B. Ramirez is 3rd for LF. Simental is 2nd for CF. Frye is 3rd for RF. Aguirre is 1st for SP. Scoles is 1st for RP. Aguirre is still the highest vote getter, getting 1,722,551 votes. The Pirates will be without CL Robby Stenimetz for the res tof the season with a torn labrum. He was 1-2 with a 1.91 ERA and 16 saves in 28.1 innings. The Giants got C C.J. Willis and RF Alfredo Miranda from the Vultures for LF Joe Gush, RHP Eddie Tripp, and LF Arturo Figeroa. I love this deal for Nashville. We looked to finish the sweep with Steve Paustian (5-4, 4.73 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) facing former Marlins farmhand Michael Baumann (5-3, 4.44 ERA, 1.13 WHIP). Tied at 9 in the 11th, Kevin Martin hit a walk-off RBI double off Chad Scoles, and the Dodgers salvaged the finale with a extra inning win. We led 8-0 at one time... Paustian went 4.2 innings with 6 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Rodolfo Esquilin allowed a hit, 2 runs (1 earned...), 2 walks, and got a strikeout. Josh Cronin allowed a hit and run in 0.2 innings. C.J. LaFever allowed a hit and run in 0.2 innings. Scoles allowed 4 hits, a run, and struck out 2 in 1.2 innings. Juan Ramirez was 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, a homer, 3 runs, 5 RBI's, and a walk. Juan Simental was 3-for-5 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-5 with 2 runs, a solo homer, and a walk. Ernie Frye was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI's, a walk, and double. Luis Mora was 2-for-6. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with a double, walk, and RBI. We'll head home for three with the second place Phillies. We'll face Sergio Monreal (5-3, 4.28 ERA), Jorge Reyna (1-1, 4.40 ERA), and Luis Manzano (6-3, 4.65 ERA). June 15th, 2031: C.J. Jorgensen (4-3, 4.98 ERA, 1.60 WHIP) was on the mound in the opener against Sergio Monreal (5-3, 4.28 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). We couldn't score, and were shutout 3-0. Jorgensen allowed 2 runs and 5 hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in 6 innings. C.J. LaFever allowed 2 hits and a run in an inning. We had just 3 hits. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-2 with 3 walks. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-5. Red Sox SS Isaac Rodriguez extended his hit streak to 20 games i a 7-3 win over the Athletics. June 16th, 2031: 4th Rounder Raheem Obear agreed to a $280,000 bonus. Juan Ramirez was named NL Player of the Week. He hit .481 with 3 homers and 12 RBI's. Former Marlin minor league SS Luis Padilla will miss the rest of the season with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. He was hitting .267/.315/.429 with 5 homers and 23 RBI's. Arizona will be wihtout RHP Tim Brewster for the year with a torn meniscus. He was 2-1 with a 3.79 ERA and he struck out 16 in 19 innings. Arizona also lost RF Mike Pickens with the same injury. He was hitting just .121/.266/.227 with a homer and 5 RBI's in 66 at bats. We still sit #1 in the Power Rankings. at 51-18, we have a 10 game lead over our current opponent. Prospect Watch: CL Pete Werner (AA Jacksonville): A 23-year-old lefty, Pete Werner has all the tools to be a big league closer. Already rated a 2.5/4.5, he has 100 rated stuff, average movement, and plus control. He has a 100 rated curveball and a plus-plus cutter that averages around 93-95 mph. The former 26th Round Pick of the 2029 draft, I acquired him in January for LF Juan Virto, who I later claimed. In his first AA season, he is 4-0 with a 1.15 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. He has 21 saves and has struck out 48 in 31.1 innings. If he keeps this dominance up, it may not be too long until he's in the big leagues. We looked to even the series with Esteban Aguirre (10-0, 1.58 ERA, 0.72 WHIP) taking on Jorge Reyna (1-1, 4.40 ERA, 1.47 WHIP). It was a tight one, but we managed to edged the Phillies 2-1. Aguirre struck out 11 and allowed 5 hits in 5 innings. Ken Adeniran, Shiro Hiraki, and Chad Scoles got holds before Rodolfo Esquiling got the save. Scoles allowed an unearned run in 0.1 innings while Esquilin allowed a hit and struck out 2 to finish the 9th. Pat Hughes was 2-for-2 with a double, run scored, double, and walk. It was a close one, but we managed to come on top 3-2. Maya went 7.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), and 8 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever finished the 8th for a hold, while Chad Scoles struck out 2 in the 9th. Maya was 2-for-3 with a solo homer, his 2nd in as many games. Juan Ramirez aws 1-for-4 with a two run homer. June 18th-June 24th
June 18th, 2031: 1st Round Pick Joe Alwine signed a $950,000 signing bonus.
We had today off before returning home where we'd host the Padres for three. We'd see Josh Ferland (6-3, 4.27 ERA), Joe Leithner (0-2, 6.52 ERA), and Sergio Andrade (3-3, 4.43 ERA). June 19th, 2031: The Padres were in town as Dursun Erbakan (4-1, 5.12 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) took on Josh Ferland (6-3, 4.27 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). Up 4-3 headed to the 9th, Cletus Gilberds tied the game up with a solo homer off Chad Scoles. In the bottom half, Sergio Tello hit a pinch-hit, two-run walkoff homer off Brad Montgomery. Erbakan went 5.2 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Chad Scoles blew the save, but got the win, pitching an inning with 2 hits, a run, and a strikeout. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a double, homer, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 3 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Erbakan was 1-for-2. June 20th, 2031: The Dodgers will be without RHP Kevin Jalbert for the year with shoulder inflammation. In 16 games (9 starts), he's 5-4 with a 4.47 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and he's struck out 46 in 54.1 innings. Yankees righty Mitch Hart will miss the rest of the year with a torn labrum in his shoulder. He was having an awful year, just 3-6 with a 5.13 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. The middle game took place between Steve Paustian (5-4, 5.04 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) and Sergio Andrade (3-3, 4.43 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). The pitching was excellent, and we shut the Padres out 2-0. Paustian went 8 innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Chad Scoles got the save, a hit and 2 strikeouts in the 9th. Luis Mora was 2-for-3 with a run scored, double, and RBI. Ernie Frye was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a steal and RBI. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a walk and double. Paustian was 1-for-3. Orioles SS Jorge Alanis extended his hit streak to 20 games. June 21st, 2031: I convinced 6th Round Pick CF Rogelio Fletes to skip his commitment to TCU and extend sign a $4.1 million bonus. He's a 3* potential with great power and speed. He can also play everywhere except catcher and pitcher. We looked to pull off the sweep with C.J. Jorgensen (4-4, 4.82 ERA, 1.48 WHIP) facing Joe leithner (0-2, 6.52 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) in his third start of the season. We exploded offensively, and swept past the Padres with a 15-7 win. C.J. Jorgensen allowed a hit (that later scored) to the only batter he faced after leaving with an oblique strain. He will not miss his next start. Rodolfo Esquilin tossed 3 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Danny Dempsey went 2 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and a strikeout. Shiro Hiraki imporved to a perfect 7-0, pitching 2 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Rodolfo Solorzano was 4-for-5 with a double, 2 homers, 4 runs, 6 RBI's, and a walk. Juan Simental was 3-for-5 wiht 3 runs, 2 RBI's, a double, and walk. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, hit by pitch, and 2 runs scored. Jon Reid was 2-for-5 with a double, steal, and 2 RBI's. Pat Hughes was 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ken Adeniran had a pinch hit double and later scored in the 8th. Jarred Kelenic had a pinch hit RBI single in the 3rd. Luis Mora hand a pinch hit single and scored in the 7th. Cardinals starter Juan Sevilla tossed a 5-hit shutout in a 10-0 win over the Expos. He struck out 7 and walked just 1. Michael Conforto hit his 500th career home run. The 38-year-old veteran has a .266/.361/.521 career line with 1,360 RBI's in 2,131 games with the Mets, Rangers, and Diamondbacks. Isaac Rodriguez's streak was ended at 23 and Jorge Alanis' at 20. We'll look to ride our momentum all the way to Seattle for three with the Pilots. We'll face Juan Quintana (7-1, 3.50 ERA), Jaquan Pimpton (4-5, 4.50 ERA), and Shamar Colar (1-1, 3.94 ERA). June 22nd, 2031: Fan Vote Update: Horvath 3rd for 1B. Ramirez 3rd for LF. Simental 1st for CF. Frye 3rd for RF. Esteban Aguirre 1st for SP. Chad Scoles 1st for RP. The Rockies will be without RF/P Shoehi Ohtani for the rest of the year with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. Ohtani announced he was already planning on retiring once this year ended, ending his career as a 36-year-old. As a hitter, he'll end with a .255/.320/.481 line with 211 homers and 583 RBI's. As as pitcher, he was 67-81 with a 4.86 ERA in 291 games (224 starts). He struck out 1,205, had a 1.47 WHIP, and even recorded 2 saves. Esteban Aguirre (11-0, 1.49 ERA, 0.74 WHIP) was given the nod in the opener against Juan Quintana (7-1, 3.50 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). who had a great start to the year, but is beginning to cool up. Up 1-0 in the 9th, Kellum Clark tied the game with a pinch-hit solo homer off Chad Scoles to force extras. In the 10th, we scored 4 and won the opener 5-1. Juan Simental left with an injury... Aguirre tossed 6 shutout with 5 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever got the hold, 2 innings wiht 2 strikeouts. Scoles was charged with 2 hits, a run, and he got a strikeout. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a double, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a walk and RBI. Aguirre was 1-for-2 with a walk. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-6 with a triple. June 23rd, 2031: We remained 1st in the Power Rankings. At 57-18, we have a 13 game lead over the Phillies. Prospect Watch: SP Bubba Brown (AA Jacksonville): Claimed off waivers from the Tigers, Bubba Brown currently ranks 17th on out list of top 30 prospects. A 23-year-old lefty from Brooklyn, New York, Brown was selected by the Tigers with the 25th Overall Pick in 2026. While his prospect stock has dropped, he still flashes signs of why he was a 1st rounder. Rated a 1.5/2.5, Brown has plus control and movement and does a good job keeping the ball on the ground. He has a plus-plus forkball, plus sinker, plus curve, and average changeup. In 9 starts with the Jumbo Shrimp this year, he's been amazing, going 4-3 with a 1.80 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. He's struck out 48 in 45 innings, but he does have 22 walks. He also tossed 7.2 innings out of the pen in New Orleans, working a 2.35 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 6 strikeouts and 5 walks. Brown has big league upside, and will likely seem himself protected in the Rule-5 Draft. We'd look for win number 7 in a row as Juan Maya (8-0, 3.76 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) looks to stay perfect against southpaw Jaquan Pimpton (4-5, 4.50 ERA, 1.32 WHIP). The pitching was great, and we topped the hosts 8-2. Jon Reid left with a bruised forearm, but he will likely miss just a few days. Maya went the distance, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and he struck out 5 in his first career complete game. Honestly, can't even remember my last complete game... Mac Horvath was 3-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Jackson Miller was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored. Rodolfo Solorzano was 1-for-1 with a run scored, sac-fly, and 3 walks. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with a double, 2 runs, walk, and RBI. Ernie Frye was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored. After the game ended, I had to cut my GCL roster from 73 to 40. I sent 5 prospects to the Cardinals for RHP Sergio Garza. I sent 5 prospects to the Red Sox for CF Sergio Burgos. I sent 5 prospects to the Rockies for RHP Gregorio Arrieta. Finally, 5 more to the Mets for SS Juan Salinas. June 24th, 2031: We looked to finish the sweep off with Dursun Erbakan (4-1, 5.09 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) facing Shamar Colar (1-1, 3.94 ERA, 1.44 WHIP). We couldn't finish off the hosts, and they took the finale 9-4. Erbakan allowed 5 runs in 4 innings off 7 hits with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Rodolfo Esquilin allowed 2 hits, 3 runs, and a walk in 1.1 innings. Ken Adeniran allowed 2 hits, a run, 2 walks, and struck out 3 in 2.2 innings. Jackson Miller was 2-for-3 with a run scored, double, and walk. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a double. Rodolfo Solorzano was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-4 with a run scored and walk. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, walk, and double. Adeniran was 1-for-2. Astros starter Juan Placencia tossed a 4-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over the White Sox. He struck out 9 hitters. Off to Chicago for three with the first team in the NL Central. We'll face Jake Florence (8-4, 2.42 ERA), Seth Halvorsen (6-5, 3.68 ERA), and Sergio Barreto (9-5, 3.17 ERA). |
