No problem. It looks like he will make his debut in the random debut in 2003. We should be seeing him soon, hopefully in the next couple days if time permits.

1993 (Part 2)- Two players reach 400
Random Debut:
Real life 400 club member Chipper Jones qualified for the final home run derby by hitting his 400th home run. Jones will have one more shot at qualifying for the tournament. Sam Wise also hit the 400th home run of his career. Wise played in the 1800's and hit 48 homers in real life. Louis Santop led the league with 75 home runs, and joined the 800 home run club, and is on the cusp of the 900 home run club. Meanwhile, second place this year went to Mule Suttles, who only hit 75 home runs and at 34 years old now has 974 career home runs. Suttles should hit 1000 home runs next year unless he suffers an unexpected injury. The total is a little high for my liking, but in the end he'll be a number one seed, so it's just a matter of which bracket he gets in now. Bullet Rogan moved past 600 career home runs and now has 645 at the age of 29. Prince Fielder moved up to the 500 home run club this season. Ken Guettler made his debut on the watch list after hitting 54 home runs this year and he now has 81 at the age of 25. Jocko Milligan and Jimmy Knowles each slugged their 300th career home run this season. Player Watch Mule Suttles (34) - 974 Louis Santop (33) - 873 Bullet Rogan (29) - 645 Mike Diaz (35) - 549 Prince Fielder (35) - 507 Leonard Williams (39) - 475 John Kerins (34) - 448 Chipper Jones (37) - 425 Sam Wise (37) - 418 Jose Canseco (32) - 380 Erubiel Durazo (32) - 366 Kevin Reimer (36) - 364 George Wood (33) - 363 Roger Connor (32) - 350 John Mansell (35) - 348 Curley Williams (31) - 340 Jocko Milligan (30) -332 Jimmy Knowles (29) - 304 Tommy Gregg (26) - 266 Matt Joyce (25) - 265 Armando Rios (25) -247 Biff Shaller (21) - 149 Jud Wilson (20) - 119 Ken Guettler (25) -81 Season Leaders 1. Curley Williams also reached 400 this year. Williams was a Negro League slugger, and finished the season with 423 homers. 1996 (Part 2)- Four more players reach 400
Random Debut:
The random debut is proving to be adventurous, with four more players reaching 400 career home runs this season, and players continuing to put up huge numbers. Ed Cartwright wasn't on my radar before, but hit career home run number 400 this season. Cartwright hit 24 home runs in the 1800's. Matt Joyce also hit his 400th home run this season. Joyce hit 61 home runs in real life. Tommy Gregg hit just 20 home runs in real life, but advanced to the next round with career home run number 400. Joining the trio in the final home run derby will be Jimmy Knowles, who also played in the 1800's, and hit 9 home runs. 1997 (Part 2)- Two join 400 club
Random Debut:
Norihiro Nakamura hit 363 career home runs in Japan, and advanced to the final home run derby after hitting career home run number 400 this year. Armando Rios hit 36 home runs in real life and joined the 400 home run club this year. Louis Santop hit career home run number 1100 this year, with Jocko Flanagan hitting home run number 500. Joining the 300 club this year were Bill Shaller, Ken Guettler, Ed Flanagan, and the other Giambi - Jeremy. Mule Suttles finally called it quits with a remarkable 1162 career home runs. I'm sure they were somewhat inflated based on the era and the set-up, but he'll be one to watch in the final home run derby based on his performance so far. Mike Diaz also retired with 695 home runs, as did John Kerins (514) and Ed Cartwright (426). 1999 (Part 1)- Griffey and Canseco hit 400th
5 Year Recalc:
While sometimes doing this round with recalc feels a little like cheating, especially with the results I've gotten, it's nice to see good players getting good results. Who knows what will happen in the final home run derby, but doing this without seeing some of the home run greats have success would have been disappointing. One of those players who I've really wanted to see have success is Ken Griffey, Jr., who hit career home run number 400 this year. Griffey is just 29 years old, so he's still got time to equal, or surpass his career total of 630 and I still think he has the talent to win it all in the end. Jose Canseco also hit career home run number 400. Barry Bonds hit home run number 500 this year as well. Ron Gant, Jim Edmonds, Gary Sheffield, Manny Ramirez, and Frank Thomas each passed 300 career home runs this year. Kevin Mitchell retired from baseball with 439 career home runs. Cecil Fielder also retired with 357 home runs, failing to qualify for the final home run derby, and leaving the Fielder family chances to his son. Player Watch Mark McGwire (36) - 567 Barry Bonds (36) - 527 Eric Davis (37) - 518 Jose Canseco (36) - 414 Ken Griffey, Jr. (29) - 412 Fred McGriff (36) - 390 Juan Gonzalez (30) - 384 Mickey Tettleton (39) - 381 Kal Daniels (36) - 374 Jim Thome (30) - 363 Matt Nokes (36) - 360 Paul O'Neill (36)- 357 Larry Walker (32) - 351 Chili Davis (39) - 345 Albert Belle (33) - 341 Cal Ripken (39) - 339 Ron Gant (34) - 322 Jim Edmonds (29) - 318 Gary Sheffield (30) - 317 Manny Ramirez (27) - 302 Frank Thomas (31) - 300 Rafael Palmeiro (36) - 299 Sammy Sosa (30) - 296 Mike Piazza (31) - 254 Jeff Bagwell (31) - 249 Alex Rodriguez (24) - 239 Carlos Delgado (28) - 195 Chipper Jones (28) - 189 Jason Giambi (28) - 180 Vladimir Guerrero (25) - 116 Andruw Jones (23) - 112 David Ortiz (23) - 68 Paul Konerko (23) - 63 Season Leaders 1. 2002 (Part 2 of 3)- 8 players reach 400
Random Debut:
I thought we had already reached the peak, but I'm really hoping this is the peak with 9 players reaching 400 career home runs this year. Because of that I'll break it into two posts. Derrek Lee is the first player to reach 400 home runs this year. Derrek Lee hit 331 home runs in real life, and also saw success in the original when he hit 331. Jon Morrison played during the 1800's, and was the second player to reach 400 home runs this year. Another player from the 1800's, Chief Roseman reached 400 career home runs this year. Roseman hit 17 home runs in real life. 2012 home run derby participant Mark Trumbo also reached 400 career home runs this year. While it's still early in his career, he has hit 61 home runs so far. Fred Pfeffer is the third player from the 1800's to hit 400 career home runs this year. Pfeffer hit 94 home runs in real life. |
