Starting the Offseason with a bang
After yet another dismal year (no, wait... it was a rebuilding year, we were supposed to suck!), the Crawdads entered Free Agency with a ton of money to spend and several needs. Basically, anything would be an improvement. With that said, the Crawdads have announced that CF Mike Clarke, the prize free agent this offseason, has been signed to a 4 year contract paying just over 18 million dollars annually. Clarke, the 28 year old lefty affectionately nicknamed "OBP Jesus" due to his .407 career OBP, is expected to be a big contributor to the New Orleans offense and, combined with Tipper Kengos and Jason Stucky gives the 'Dads one of the top 4 outfields in the FLM. The nucleus of the team is young and should be around for quite some time, with Clarke (28), Kengos (20), Stucky (27), Willie Williams (26), and a young pitching staff anchored by Charlie Lindquist and Nate Minchey. People around the New Orleans front office are cautiously optimistic.

AABA Aquisition And Another Trade
In what has been one of the busier offseasons in recent memory for the Crawdads, it has been announced that outfielder Silas Camarena has been aquired from the Las Vegas [s]Cheating Bastards[/s] Hustlers in exchange for starter Paul Alfred and infielder Kosuke Fukudome. Camarena is expected to be the starting right fielder against righties for New Orleans, with Jason Stucky primarily playing against LHP. Tsukasa Sato will be slotted into the 5th outfielder slot, primarily kept around for his defense. Fukudome was the odd man out of the infield due to the inking of AABA star Sean Clancy to play third base next season. This move, along with getting Tommy Nolan to play shortstop meant Fukudome was primarily going to be used as a backup in the future. Clancy, who batted .279 with an OBP over .400 last season with AABA Wichita, was happy to finally make the jump to the MBBA. "I'm anxious to prove that I should have been brought over 2 years ago" he said. Alfred, who had a reasonably good season in 1996, with a 3.89 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, was primarily moved because the front office was weary of his lack of development in the Stuff and Control departments. "We still have a young nucleus to build around, and the addition of a guy like Silas will outweigh losing Paul we think" said GM Mike Voelker. Rumors have it that New Orleans may still be on the lookout for another starter before the regular season is underway.

So, I'm sort of in a new realm right now.
The team is actually decent so far, and only 1 game back of Des Moines in the FLM. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to put in TNs like this. Mike Clarke has been everything we've expected so far, with a .483 OBP and already a Player of the Month award, Lee Dedeaux is putting up huge strikeout numbers (57 in 50 IP) and just not getting run support, and Tommy Nolan has responded nicely to his bumps by posting an .871 OPS through the first month of the season. Now, the bad: Tipper Kengos hasn't plummeted to his newly lumped ratings yet, but we're expecting it. For now, the outfield will consist of Clarke sliding to a corner OF spot, Silas Camarena taking over as the full time centerfielder, and Jason Stucky playing right field fulltime. Not as good as opening day, but hopefully enough to get by. There have been rumblings around the Crawdads organization that first baseman Willie Williams may actually be asked to hide in left field while still providing decent offensive production, and AAA infielder Doug "Pogo" Wells may see some time at first base in order to help his progression towards the MBBA. Down On The Farm No, not like that you ****ing sickos. Like this: Quote:
Upcoming Schedule 5/11 - v. Seattle 5/12 - @ Hackensack 5/13 - @ Hackensack 5/14 - @ Hackensack 5/16 - v. Austin 5/17 - v. Austin 5/18 - v. Austin 5/19 - @ Des Moines 5/20 - @ Des Moines

So it's June, and the Crawdads are in a place that has been unfamiliar territory for a long, long time:
The New Orleans Crawdads are in first place in the Frick League Midwest. Over the last sim, the 'Dads beat Des Moines, took 2 of 3 from Buffalo, swept a 3 game set with Atlantic City, and took 2 of 3 from Long Beach. So, we're 28-23, one game ahead of Austin, 3 up on Birmingham, and 5 ahead of Des Moines. Mike Clarke is making his free agent signing look to be worth every penny so far, as he leads the team in essentially every offensive category. His .377 batting average is 4th in the MBBA, and his 1.062 OPS is the best in the bigs. Please don't get hurt or lump (anti-jinx FU Millsy!). Tommy Nolan is off to a surprisingly good start as well, hitting .341 with an OBP of nearly .420 (22 walks, 19 srikeouts!). He's responded very well to being thrown to the wolves as the full time starting SS, and has made the most of his early season bumps. We'll take an OPS just shy of .900 any day! On the pitching front, a small stir was created when reports that closer Gunga Oogolagunga had expressed a willingness to move to a setup role if asked, allowing lefty Oscar Santoyo to take over closing duties. Incidentally, Santoyo quietly inked a 4 year, 5.2 million dollar contract to keep him with the Crawdads through the 2001 season.. As of yet, a move has not been made, and Gunga has converted his last 7 save opportunities. The team will, however, be keeping a close eye on the back of the bullpen, as that's been the only real weak point of the pitching staff. Could we be seeing the end of an era in New Orleans? Upcoming Schedule 6/1 - v. Birmingham 6/2 - v. Birmingham 6/3 - v. Birmingham 6/4 - @ Montreal 6/5 - @ Montreal 6/6 - @ Montreal 6/7 - v. Calgary 6/8 - v. Calgary 6/9 - v. Calgary 6/11 - @ Las Vegas

We currently have one opening for the MBBA. We're still on 2006, but I'd anticipate we'll switch after this season to 2007 (don't quote me on that yet).
![]() The Valencia Stars are the reigning Landis Memorial Series champions. This season has not been good to them (we're two sims away from finishing the 1997 season, and the Stars are in last place). With a strong owner who is dedicated to bringing the Stars back, they should rise quickly back to the top. A prime example of that is their completely STOCKED roster . The Stars just need a involved and dedicated owner to be a perennial contender in the Johnson League Pacific Division. Interested? Come to our forums and fill out an application! We'll see you there! Other interested applicants? We may lose one or two owners when we switch over to 2007....don't let the fact that there's only one team available turn you off from applying. The MBBA is one of the longest running, active, writing style leagues in our community. We'd be honored to have veterans or first time online leaguers alike. If you have specific questions, don't be hesitant to drop me a PM. I check in frequently.

Hi, I would like to join your league. That team would be perfect for me since I live in Valencia County. I have just applied at the site and am waiting for approval.
Thanks! |

I approved your account. Currently the league is considering a merger with another online league, The FIBB. We'd basically start from scratch.
See the forums for details.

Monty Brewster World Baseball Association
![]() Full League Name (Initials):Monty Brewster World Baseball Association (MBWBA) Main URL: Welcome to the Monty Brewster World Baseball Association! Reports URL: SION Home Page Boards URL: MBWBA :: Index Commissioner(s) OOTP Forum Username(s):Recte44 Email Address: mrectenwald@gmail.com OOTP Version: OOTP2007/8 Game Needed: Required Players: Fictional # of Teams: 16 in MBWBA, 12 in *** and Mexican League Export Deadlines Days And Times: T,R,Sun at 6pm Eastern League Time Per Sim: 15 days First Season: 2028 Latest Season: 2029 Special Rules & Settings: See boards Currently Available Teams: All *** and Mexican teams Premise: January 3, 2008: Steroids had killed the game of Major League Baseball. Following the Mitchell Report, Commissioner Bud Selig began gathering more and more evidence that suggested that the National Pastime was forever tainted. Not wanting to further sully the game’s reputation, and with no way to know who did and who didn’t partake in the HGH conspiracy, Selig canceled the MLB season for 2008. Quickly, Monty Brewster jumped into the fray. Having made millions upon millions of dollars fighting the good fight with the Monty Brewster Baseball Association that was beaten into extinction by MLB in the late 90’s, the heyday of the steroid era, Brewster was waiting for his chance to return to the baseball arena. Brewster quickly had his team of scientists develop a quick and easy test for all performance enhancing drugs, and then announced the formation of the Monty Brewster World Baseball Association (MBWBA). The Monty Brewster World Baseball Association would be opened up to 16 owners, hand picked by the estate of Mr. Brewster. These hand picked owners would take full control of their franchises in 2028 without the watchful eye of Monty, himself having passed away in 2012. Mr. Brewster also allowed for the inclusion of two other “major” leagues, the Japanese Professional Baseball League and the Mexican League, to be included in the universe. He’d also allocated 24 major college programs and 24 area high school all-star teams to “feed” players into the MBWBA. Also, Brewster was seeding programs all across the world that would develop players that MBWBA scouts could find and sign to their organizations. A new era of World Baseball is here, brought to you by Monty Brewster! He’s done it once before, why not again?

Currently the MBWBA is full. I'd like to invite any interested parties over to our boards to explore possible human ownership in the Nippon and Mexican leagues.
We're in our first season of "human" ownership, the 21 season of the universe. PM me here if interested, I need to approve all registrations (damned bots).

If my team has the 2nd best record in the league, you know its a wide open league, because my team isn't that good. Go Monarchs!

We just moved over to new forums, come and check us out. Currently we have human owners in the MBWBA only. That could change with quality applicants.

Still looking for 10 people to come on board as Nippon League owners. I'll be around most of the day today if you want to discuss the league.
AIM: Recte44 PM's here work as well.

This league has some great built in history (20 years of simming before human owners took over) and the level of depth added with the two other major leagues is really interesting. Joining this league would be a very good idea for any baseball/OOTP fan!

I'd really like to find some Nippon League owners in the next few days. There will not be writing minimums for that league, though writing enthusiasts are the preferred options here.
Looking for folks who want to join a league with a rich history established and even more to come.
