Talk about a routine that started out so good then turned into a ball breaker.
Here is the problem. OOTP is very inconsistant in putting the information in the ttrans file and the other trans files. Sometimes he puts their position in front of it, other times he does not. Sometimes he puts it in the team transaction file, sometimes he does not. It is driving me crazy! Here was part of the problem, which I did not think about. I am checking files in the almanac. Well, the P file shows what team that guy was on when the season ended. I did not think about that. So, I was searching just that teams files. Well, if he started out on Boston and was traded to Detroit and or whatever, ended up on other teams, well, I was not searching that. So, now I am looking at the league files, but, it is not very accurate. It should not be called ALLTRANS, but how about MOSTOFTHETRANS!! I will look futher into it and see what I can come up with. I think this is something that is needed. You can follow a player's career much easier.

Does the status bar in the bottom of the right of the screen do anything?
It should go through your history, it only takes about 5 seconds on a 60 year old league. Then, once you pick a team on the left, there will be a new button called TOGGLE BEST. When clicked, it changes the display that shows a sortable list, year by year for that team. The difference is this one shows your position in the standings each year, where the other list does not. Coaches
Hey Larry. Crossed my mind today daydreaming and driving. There's a thought. Can you imagine any affordable route to gather coaches info and couple it with a history of team performance? Certainly not a major attraction for everyone, but I thought it'd be interesting when evaluating potential managers one could look to this history for coach-candidates.
I'd attempted once to keep this in a spreadsheet, but frankly it just got to be something I didn't take the time to follow through on. End of season I'd take all the hitting coaches and couple them with their respective organization's BA for the season; same with Pitching Coaches and the team's ERA including all the minor organizations. Minor League Managers would, I suppose either have to be paired with what they were best at or simply a look at both stats for the club. Ah..maybe when you get real bored and are looking for an item for the AU Expansion Pack. Just a thought.

Actually, great minds think alike.
I have actually already done this in an older routine that was replaced. However, with the new routine I am working on, I am going to be adding that. I first want to tie it into the players history (see next post), then tie it into the teams. Quote:

Here is the latest all history page for one of my boys. (No, not THOSE boys!)
http://www.sim2005.com/LA_HIS_Siro_Albano.html I no longer pull from the team all trans, but use the league all trans, it slows it down a few nanos, but gives you more information. I also include the ratings for the players along with the talents. I am not done coloring it yet, as some of my crayons broke and I have to buy a new set. And yes, there will be a legend, but I will do that after I get done coloring. Any color suggestions would be considered.

Keep up the momentum Larry. You just keep adding and adding and adding.....
That's a good thing. The grand slam stat keeps haunting me a bit. Does the routine still have problems with colons and/or semi-colons? I can't remember which or if I'm remembering it correctly at all? But could it perhaps look for the "Homeruns:" line as below, grab the player, find the "3 on", terminate the find, and then show the games the incident occured in? Again, just something for the back burner. Thanks for all you're doing. Homeruns: A. Shine (1, 3rd inning off Cabrera, 3 on, 2 out.)

Hey, Larry, I really like the new history showing the changes in ratings as well as the history of the player. Excellent.

Thanks, So do I..
I should have that routine down pact in a day or two. The rest of the world has been bothering me this week, 'Larry, come fix my computer, we will give you money'. But it does put food on the floor. (Maybe one day I can afford a table) Quote:

New version uploaded....
No re-install or re-index is required. Added: The Player History.... How to use... Go to players.. enter part of a players name... like "babe r" or their whole name.. when their name appears in the window, click on it... wait until it pulls all their information.. DONE will appear on the screen and so will the leaderboard... Then click on RATINGS II... a window will pop up showing their ratings year by year... Close it after looking at it.. then click on the new button that says DETAILED HISTORY.. you will see it start to load the history.. wait until it is done.. a few seconds.. and then you can scroll down, or even better, click on the LAUNCH HTML button and then you will see the color coded page.... The color coded page is saved in the LEAGUE SITE folder as shown... LA_HIS_Babe_Ruth.html I will be adding a routine that lets you put in a bunch of names in a file.. it will then create history pages for those players... Test this and let me know how it works... Known problem... let's say you have a guy named Joe Smith in 1956... his first year... in 1957, you rename him to Ben Dover... or in 1958... etc.. The program will not display it properly.. because.. it looks at his retired or current HTML file and figures out what his 1st year in the pros was. It also already knows what his original P number was, or what his P number is, if he is still active... so, it brings up that player.... it then verifies that it is him.. this is done so that it will find his last season correctly... The work around in this situation would be to go and modify the archived html files to change the name. But, you would also have to modify every transaction file and other stuff or my program won't see him... However, if you rename a player BEFORE you proceed to next season, it will be ok. ( I think)... anyhow.. I plan on writing a routine that will let you search through the archives and replaced all the Joe Smith's with Ben Dover... this would solve that issue...

"you MUST have the .net framework installed on your computer"
sorry, can't read 400+ posts in this thread, this may have been asked already, don't know. Will this net framework work on Win98SE? (It appears when reading Microsoft's page to download this that it only works on XP, doesn't exactly say that but that is the way I read it, no mention of Win98SE) Anybody know for sure? |

Yes, it does.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en This is the download for it. A large download. It shows Win98, but that includes SE. Quote:
