Has the ranking system been a problem for you? I'm getting some fairly strange rankings.

Yeah it hasn't been great but it's what I have to work with. If I were to develope my own ranking system, it would take forever, so I stick with it.

July 3rd, 1907

#1 Dominic McCaffrey (17-7-3) scored a UD15 over champ Joe Coburn (16-8-4) to win his second title. This time it's the LBC, he previously held the LBF title.

McCaffrey was dropped in the 3rd round and that seemed to be his wake up call as he didn't lose another round the rest of the way. Coburn started carrying his hands low in the 4th, got knocked down in the 6th, cut under his right eye in the 6th, and cut on his mouth in the 9th.

Scott Lang ringside and myself had the fight 147-136. All the official judges scored the fight the same.

On the undercard

MW - Billy Papke (9-0) TKO10 Pete McCoy (14-15-1)

July 7, 1907

#1 Tommy Ryan (28-0) scored a brutal TKO6 over Champ Stanley Ketchel (18-3) to become the first fighter in Louisville Boxing history to win a title at 2 different weight classes.

In a brutal six rounds the fight could of gone either way. The fighters trading off big rounds. Ryan started off the first with a 23-5 round and opened a cut under Ketchel's left eye. Ryan won a close second round 16-10.

Ketchel answered back in the 3rd winning the round 26-4. He opened a cut over Ryan's right eye and started Ryan's left eye swelling. Ryan staggered back to his corner. Many thought that Ketchel would take over the fight at that point.

Ryan had a different idea and dominated round 4. Outscoring Ketchel 19-6, Ketchel's left eye started to swell shut. Ketchel came back strong in the 5th, outscoring Ryan 28-9. It looked as though referee James Condon thought about stopping it but then a late flurry by Ryan stopped that idea.

Ryan came out for the 6th carrying his hands low but he came out to end the fight. He jumped on Ketchel and never let Ketchel out of his corner. Ryan was leading 28-0 and measuring his shots against a defenseless Ketchel with Condon stopped the fight with :21 left in the round. Ketchel slumped onto the ropes but then started complaining, the more his senses came back to him the louder he complained.

Many experts at ringside thought it was a good stoppage, Ketchel was one shot away from serious damage.

On the under card

**note** I've noticed since I stopped babying the pre-prime guys they are finding it tough to win against the post-prime guys. Good to see the veterans have a few tricks in their bags

I even dropped his ratings according to the chart Mark made and he still won the title. I doubt he can stay undefeated too much longer though, unless Fitzsimmons moves up. Plus there is still Dempsey to contend with. He is easily the most dominate fighter in my universe though.

Without looking I believe Fitzsimmons is 25-2 and Dempsey just went to 30-3, Ketchel is 18-3. So there are some good ones. Middleweight is probably the best division from top to bottom in my universe.

Good to see that an elite fighter can move up in weight and still make waves using the weight class adjustments doco. Excellent win for Ryan, though like you I kinda doubt he would take either Fitzsimmons or Dempsey.

I agree I thought Ketchel would win, Ryan just keeps on winning. Fitz and Dempsey will both be on the list of possible moves at the end of the year, if Ryan can avoid them this year he might have a long title reign.

Owen Moran (20-3-3) won a MD15 over #5 Digger Stanley (13-13-3) to win his second title defense of the LBC Bantamweight crown.

Not much action throughout the fight. Moran suffered a small cut under his left eye in the 7th and Stanley's left eye started to swell in the 11th.

I had Moran winning easily at 145-141. Ringside expert Dan Cuoco had it at 143-143. The official judges had it 145-140/143-143/146-140.

On the undercard

MW - Bob Fitzsimmons (23-3) TKO9 Jack Bonner (15-15-1)
LW - Patsy Sweeney (7-8-1) SD10 Harry Gilmore (19-11)

Are your non-title fights pretty much set randomly? If not, how far down the list do you set the fights? I assume the club fights are random.

With my non-title fights, I try and schedule fights against other divisions. I don't want a champ to lose a non-title fight in his own division. I know IRL it happened all the time. Charley Hitte, one of my welterweight champs, just lost to LW - Jack Everhardt, but Everhardt is staying in the light weight division. Usually I have them try a higher division.

Club fights are set the same way the main division fights are set. I use the method that cube laid out on his site. Each fighter has a certain % chance of fighting. Then all the fighters that are scheduled to fight have a 50% chance of fighting the closest rated fighter, otherwise the fight the least rated.

For example let's say a 10,9,7,4,2,and 1 rated fighter are scheduled to fight. If only the 4 and the 2 roll higher than 50% then they fight each other. The 10 would fight the 1 and the 9 would fight the 7. Now some exceptions, are if there are an odd # of fighters that roll higher than 50% then the highest rated is let off. Also I check to make sure the two fighters I pair up haven't fought in the last year.

Now the club fights I was doing different, but since I removed put all the beginners into there own group I'm doing the club the same as the main.

Hope that makes some sense. Non-title fights happen only when no one in the division meets the criteria for a title shot. They have to be top ten and not have lost their last fight.

Jack Johnson (25-1) scored a SD15 over #3 Peter Jackson (25-5) to revenge his only loss for a second time. This was also his 14th title defense.

There were a few close rounds in this fight but almost everyone saw the fight one sided in favor of Johnson.

Jackson was dropped in the first round, then cut under his left eye in the 3rd.

Johnson was dropped briefly late in the 6th, but dominated the round so much that he won it on points.

I had the fight 147-140. Markus Heinsohn who spent most of the fight trying to talk up the ringside girls but failed miserably because he kept telling them about how hard it was to code H2H

scored the fight 143-142 Jackson.

The official judges had it 142-143/ 146-140/146-141.

On the undercard

July 27, 1907

Underachieving and undeserving #1 Battling Nelson (15-12) finally took advantage of all the breaks given to him and won a SD15 over champ Billy Myer (21-4-3) to win the LBC Lightweight title.

Nelson 0-3 in title fights coming in started out fast winning 6 of the first 8 rounds. His right eye started to swell in the 3rd. Myer started carrying his hands low in the 4th and was cut over the right eye in the 7th.

Myer finally caught up to Nelson in the 9th dropping him, but it was too late in the round to take advantage and Nelson recovered in his corner.

The two fighters split the last six rounds.

I had Nelson ahead 143-141. Aurelio Barrios scored it 144-142. The official judges had it 143-142/142-143/143-141.

On the undercard
