2027 - Report #25

American League Player of the Week was awarded to Ripper Collins of the Charlotte Spiders. Collins goes 13 for 21 with 4 homers and 16 RBI's on the week. Charlotte is 48-27 in 4th place in the AL Atlantic trailing the first place Richmond Gamecocks by 5 games

Mark McGwire of the San Bernardino Butchers may be taking extra injections as the rookie remains hot winning the NL Player of the Week Award. McGwire hit 6 homers and drove in 14 runs for San Bernardino while batting .438. San Bernardino is 35-40 in 8th place in the NL Pacific.

Actuary and Key West Condors first baseman Gary Mendez had a big 5 hit game today as Key West punished the Albuquerque Blackbirds 15-7 on the road at Pollos Stadium. Mendez went 5 for 6 and scored 3 runs while Jason Lane homered and drove in 5 for the easy win.

Chuck Klein of the Los Angeles Angels had a booming start to his career and has tapered off a little but still was able to hit his 400th career homer today. The Angels defeated the Amsterdam Smokies at home 7-3 as Klein hit his 399th and 400th career homers in the game and they were both off of Amsterdam starter Chris Archer. Klein has hit all of his homers for the Angels and had an impressive 78 homers and 197 RBI's in 2023.

The Branson Jackals and Winnipeg Wolf Pack are two contending teams that have traded big name players as Branson ships LF Jackie Jensen to the Winnipeg in exchange for SP Ben Rivera and SS Buddy Biancalana. Jensen had 16 homers and 45 RBI's for Branson this year and hit 40 bombs in 2026 for the Jackals. Rivera was in the Winnipeg pen this year and was odd man out in the rotation so Branson is pitching starved and hoping he can contribue.

Joe Orsulak was traded today by the Aruba Jackrabbits to the Cape Cod Manatees in a probably salary relief deal for RP Merrill Kelly and RP Johnny Lanning. Orsulak was hitting .299 for NL Tropical leading Aruba but he now opens cash for a bigger acquisition.

The AL Pacific leading Fresno Bashers acquired knuckleballer Tim Wakefield in a trade today with the Panama Marksmen and they give up SS Denny Mack and LF Endy Chavez. Wakefield is a rookie but was 0-11 with an 8.44 ERA so the acquisition is based on potential or change of scenery.

Lefty Grove continues to dominate as he struck out 15 batters today for the Richmond Gamecocks shutout division rival Tampa Bay Rays 5-0 on 2 hits today at home. Grove pitched 7 1/3 innings and struck out 15 of the 22 outs. Davy Force drove in 3 runs while Jim Burns had 3 hits for Richmond in the victory. Grove improves to 7-4 on the year with a 2.13 ERA

The Reading Pumas have announced that RF Danny Green will retire at the end of the season at 36 years old. Green hit 34 homers in 2019 for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers, but after traveling the league, he realized he does not have it any more

Ryan Braun of the Louisville Bats was able to hit for the cycle today as Louisville obliterates the Edmonton Bluebirds at home 20-4. Braun goes 4 for 6 and drives in 4 runs while Clint Barmes had 3 hits and 4 RBI's in the one sided affair.

The Evansville Steelhawks are seeing that they are able to compete at some level this year as they land high level reliever Gary Majewski in a deal with the Amsterdam Smokies for IF Marlon Anderson. Carlos Marmol finds his way to Evansville in the trade too. Majewski had 174 saves over 7 seven seasons with the Los Angeles Angels but was 1-4 this year in Amsterdam and maybe having too much in the dens.

Mike Ryba, reliever on the Charlotte Spiders is done for the season with turn ulnar collateral ligament. He was 4-2 out of the Charlotte pen this year.

2027 - Report #26

Vic Willis of the Chicago Cubs had a strong performance with 15 strikeouts as the Cubs edged the Maui Lobos at home 2-0. The All star pitcher improved to 10-3 with 15 whiffs in 8 innings and he allowed just 2 hits Carl Crawford had 2 hits and an RBI to ignite the offense.

Duluth Champions third baseman Billy Urbanski continues his breakout season by hitting for the cycle today as Duluth defeated the London Cyclones at Wembley Stadium. Urbanski hit his 20th homer and scored 2 runs in the win. Duluth starter Terry Larkin struck out 12 batters in 6 2/3 innings.

New York Yankees rookie lefthander Jon Matlack had a breakout game with 15 strikeouts today as the Bronx Bombers blanked the Rio Astronauts at home 8-0. Matlack allowed one hit over 7 innings with 15 batters fanned and improves to 7-7 on the season. Reb Russell had 3 hits and 2 RBI's while Joe Dugan hit a 3 run blast to lead the Yankees in the win (Editor's Note: Painful to see Matlack in Yankee uniform, my first ever ball game was Jon Matlack's one hitter vs Astros in 1973.

Tennis star Novak Djokovic is having a breakout year with 22 homers and .297 average playing for the Bermuda Seawolves at 37 years old and was traded today to the Calgary Fusion. Bermuda gets back in the trade RP Buddy Carlyle and C Cameron Rupp. Joker has 214 career homers and 1028 hits and did most of his damage between 2020 and 2025 for the Minnesota Twins. Calgary fans were excited to know of landing the hot headed Serbian.

It is Tim Belcher's final year but the Peoria Oil Barons see a slight chance to do something so they acquired the starting pitcher from the Toledo Shockers today. Peoria sends infielder Luis Jimenez to Toledo to complete the trade. Belcher was 1-9 this year for Toledo but had a 4.50 ERA and should help Peoria who are 39-39 but still in 10th place and 19 game behind the Memphis Cougars in the NL Midwest.

2027 - No Hitter #8

Mort Cooper of the Honolulu Riptide joins the no hitter club as the Honolulu Riptide defeated the Sedona Mules 7-0. Cooper improves to 13-4 on the year as he struck out 14 batters in the game and walked no one. The hitting star of the game was Jean Segura who had 3 hits and an RBI but Segura also committed the error at shortstop that prevented the perfect game. Cooper was OK with it at the end of the day. Gangster, record mogul and Sedona RF Lucious Lyon was quoted as saying "Something wasn't right, he had to be doing something to the baseball, I never saw a ball move like that in my life"

This was the 2nd no hitter in Honolulu history as Daffy Dean no hit the Kimberley Ocelots in 2026. This is the first time that Sedona has succumbed to the no hitter.

Instantly there were rumors of him juicing, but then again he does not have his own money. Kevin Youkilis added 3 hits and 5 RBI's for Newark

Hall of Fame Point Guard and Nashua Fire Dogs pitcher Isaiah Thomas will retire at the end of the year at 40 years old. Thomas is 2-9 this year as Nashua has to use the one time closer as a starter. Thomas had 45 saves in 2020 for the New York Yankees.

Pyle went 5 for 7 and drove in 3 runs to carry the offense along with Juan Lagares who went 5 for 5 and drove in 4 runs in this one sided game. Pyle is hitting .362 in his rookie year, and defying critics who said he would not amount to much and had major malfunctions which is how he ended up in Cuba in the first place.

With the injury to JJ Putz, the Saskatoon Beavers acquired Canadian NHLer John Tavares from the Havana Marksmen for 2B Swede Risberg. JT has a whopping 16.02 ERA This year and at 32, Saskatoon is hoping that it was because of overuse on the expansion Havana team.

2027 - No Hitter #9

Phil Hughes of the San Bernardino Butchers is the latest to achieve this feat with a Perfect Game as San Bernardino defeated the San Jose Skeeters 8-0 at home. Hughes fanned 12 and retired all 27 batters to improve to 7-6 on the season. JD Drew and Mark McGwire each had 3 hits in the game for San Bernardino. San Jose outfielder Ty Cobb was accusatory after the game "That guy ain't so good, he had to be dockering the baseball"

It was the first no hitter in San Bernardino history and first time San Jose has ever been no hit.

The Syracuse Maroons are 47-43 and are 9 games out in the AL East with a lot of teams to climb over, but they made a trade for starting pitcher Frank Corridon from the Hicksville Comets to bolster their rotation today. Corridon won 15 games in 2023 for the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians. Syracuse also gets in the trade RP Allen Russell. Hicksville acquires huge SP prospect Corbin Burnes, LF Stuffy Stewart and 3B Will Middlebrooks. This is a huge haul for a back end starter.

Future superstar Ty Cobb hits for the cycle today for the San Jose Skeeters but they still lost to the NL West leading Las Vegas Snake Eyes at home 6-2. Cobb goes 4-5 with the cycle including his 15th homer of the year. Las Vegas star outfielder Danny Richardson hit 2 3 run homers to account for the whole 6 run Las Vegas attack.

The Boston Red Sox have lost their star third baseman Kris Bryant for 3 months with a torn hamstring. Bryant had 72 RBI's year for Boston as they are tied atop the AL East with the Buffalo Bisons. The injury occurred in an 11-3 thrashing of the Flint Bearcats at home.

The Cabo San Lucas Black Gold lost reliever Jack McFetridge for the season with a torn labrum. He was 3-3 with a 3.15 ERA this season

Toledo gets back in return OF Mark Whiten, OF Harrison Bader and RP Freddie Tolliver. Phillippe was 4-10 this year with a 4.12 ERA for Toledo but was coming off an all star year in 2026 with the Baltimore Orioles with 15 wins. Davis took Athens SP JImmy Lavender deep in the 9th inning for an insurance run. Davis has won 2 world series rings for the Seattle Mariners and hit 48 homers just last year for Seattle.

The Ottawa Argonauts are 13 games out of first place but made a trade today to acquire SP Craig Swan from the Lagos Hammerheads in exchange for LF Jim Hickman. Swan was 3-11 this year for Lagos and lost 22 games in 2026 but Ottawa saw something in him to help them this year.
