Back on track...
I'm beginning to think that DJ needs to be sent down to fix whatever exactly he's got going on. Swisher can play 1st and Payton can get more time in LF.

Went to the A's game today and sat in right field. Prtty crappy day but had it good sunny moments, oh and the back to back to back homeruns was also pretty nice. But i cant get over how trashy the A's stadium is geesh, then again they do share it with the raiders. Oh and im a Giants fan so it doesnt really compare lol. But it was a fun day with all those bombs.

By my logic, Player A whose talents have him hitting at a .298 Equivalent Average, and who basically never misses a game, is much more valuable offensively over a five year period than Player B, who, for whatever reasons, plays much less and hits at a .304 Equivalent Average. In this case, about 140 runs better over that span. If your pretzel logic has you choosing player B, good for you, but player A will have won many more games for his team from 2001-2005 with the stick.

I'd say that if Dan Johnson doesn't have a hit by the middle of next week, they will do something... they have to don't they? what would that make him.... probably close to 0-for-30 or -35.... Macha will probably try batting him in all 9 spots with his streak tho... he'd be happy w/ an 0-for-27 day!

Adam Dunn has been a better hitter. The EQA proves it. Has he put up as many numbers? No. Have the numbers he's put up been better? Yes! Is it Dunn's fault his manager didn't play him? Is it his fault he's not batting leadoff? Dunn has played a minimum of 158 games in 3 of the last 4 years (what did happen in '03? Was it just his low average that kept him out of games or was he hurt?). The entire difference in the runs Ichiro has created has been because he's getting 100 more PA because he bats 5 spots higher in the lineup. Ichiro may have been responsible for more runs, but if Dunn was a leadoff hitter he would be superior by a good 20 equivalent runs and that includes him playing significantly fewer games. |
