ALI's brother
Some of Rahman Ali's fights were undercards on his brothers fights. He was on the undercard for both of the Liston fights, his 1st match with Frazier and his fight with Bonavena.

Art "Art The Great" Shires.
Again...hard to rate and especially since his early fights were "dubious"! But an interesting character anyway and one to add color to a universe. |

And one of Art Shires opponents, Tony Faeth.
Faeth pitched for Cleveland Indians in 1919/1920 and when he made his pro boxing debut he was 37 years old. I guess I should make this guy a lot worse than he is here but I don't know how "bad" I should go -even a "tomato can" should beat this guy.

And another of Art Shires opponents, Al Spohrer.
Catcher in the big leagues and was 28 years old when he fought so, although he is "bad", I figure at this age and being an athlete he would have a little pop to fight back. But still a guy to add color and one you can adjust at will since [IMHO] there is no real answer to rating a guy like this. Put a pic in the Missing Pics thread. |

Thanks to Lee also for his "tomatoe can" fighters. I got side tracked myself rating more guys but hope to get back soon doing some more from the 50's-60's. I've been busy getting updated in my data base all the fighters that everyone's been posting here and at cornerworks. With probably 85% of them in I'm up to a little over 4700 rated fighters(some are duplicates of different ratings for certain fighters supplied by different sources)!!
That 4700 without the women boxer's!! Rocco |

Carmine Caggiano
James J. Braddock's 12th fight - 1 round KO over Carmine Caggiano. Caggiano is stopped in 5 of his 6 recorded fights. BoxRec has an interesting line in his 2nd recorded fight...Pearlstein, "who claims the heavyweight championship of Palestine, knocked out Carmine Caggiano, who says he is the champion of Italy.... After his victory Pearlstein claimed the championship of Italy." (New York Times, March 6, p. 17) |

George LaRocca
Fought James J. Braddock twice...a six round draw and lost a 6 round UD. Beat Johnny Grosso 3 times when Grosso was an up-and-coming young heavyweight...pushed Joe Sekyra twice in 10 round losses the year before Sekyra beat James J. Braddock...went the distance twice with Bob Olin...a bit better than a "tomato can" and only 13 wins against 27 losses but can push and beat a good fighter from time to time. |

Hey Lee the Jack O'Day link doesn't work. I found the board doesn't like attachments with apostrophes in them. Just edit the file name and re attach.

Tye Fields
Tye Fields Heavyweight 30-1 28 KOs
His only noteable win is against Sherman Williams W12 who is rated a 3 in the game. I watched his fight with Julius Long, who is 7' 1", and Tye wasn't too impressive. His handspeed is slow and his hand placement is bad. But, he has major leauge power and he comes forward punching, which is more than I can say for most heavies today. In my opinion, when he finally fights someone in the top 20, he will get dispatched early, due to his prehistoric skills/style.

I took the below photo from his fan club's web site, if you can believe that.

I watched him on TV, in his last fight and really wasn't impressed. When he throws a counter punch, his chin goes in the air......not good! He is huge, the announcers stated that he lost 8 pounds from his last fight but he was still over 270, which doesn't lend for much durablity in fights in my opinion.
He does have major league power if he hits someone.

Rating some "Tomato Cans".....
Michel Dinot - France
Light Heavyweight 1956-58 1 win / 9 losses / 3 draws / 1 KO Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Lost an 8 round decision to Gunnar Nilsson in his 3rd fight. Then lost by 6th round KO to Erich Schoppner. He drew once and lost once to a German HW, Wenzel Bociek(12-14-4,8) sandwiched around an 8 round decision loss to Rocco Mazzola. He then lost another 8 round decision to Erich Schoppner, a 5th round KO to Gilbert Chapron(18-3-2,11), a 6th round KO to Rolf Peters(17-10-3,3), a 10 round decision loss to Paul Roux(61-16-4,13) who was very early in his career, and then Dinot finished up his career with an 8 round decision loss to Helmut Ball(24-16-5,16). You look at who Dinot fought and he went up against not all that shabby looking opponents. |

Rating some "Tomato Cans".....
Erwin Hack - Germany
Heavyweight 1955-63 13 wins / 27 losses / 6 draws / 3 KO Birthplace: Hamburg-Wandsbek, Germany Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Career started out 8-1-0, 3KO's. That included 2 decision wins over Don Ellis, whom we're going to rate for the game soon, and 8 round decision loss to Willi Besmanoff, and an 8 round decision win against Albert Westphal who was early in his career. After that quick start, Hack slid to a 5-26-6,0KO record the rest of his career. That included losses to Rocco Mazzola, Mino Bozzano, Westphal, Santo Amonti(with whom he did manage a draw also), Rolf Peters, Plinio Scarabellin, Jimmy Slade, Helmut Ball, Pekka Kokkonen, Wim Snoek, Franco DePiccoli, Santo Amonti again, Paul Roux, Johnny Prescott, Paul Kraus, Federico Friso, Billy Walker and Benito Penna. He managed wins against Joe Shaw and Willi Schagen, a couple guys with at least respectable looking records, and Leen Jansen. He also managed a draw with Uwe Janssen. |
