I do envy the beautiful place you live. It would be a lot of fun to go hiking it the Cotswalds; you are close to the beach and 135 minutes from London. The best of all worlds.

The closest seaside resort is Weston-super-Mare.

Although in recent years it has fallen into hard times as a tourist area, with attractions like the Tropicana (outdoor swimming pools) and the SeaLife Centre closing, it has little to attract anything other than day visitors.

It does have a cool train that goes up the promenade though.

While I totally concur with four of those names I have huge issues with your inclusion of Ferguson, not only ahead of Sir Matt - who imo has a very strong claim as the absolute best - but in fact I’d struggle to put him in the top four United managers of my lifetime, let alone on a shortlist of greatest Brits ever.

You mention people building from scratch but no one had to do that more than Busby. He took over a club that was massively in debt, with a bombed out wreck of a home stadium. United were a nothing club when he arrived, both at the time and in historical terms. The only brief moment of glory had come after the great Manchester City side had had half their squad implicated in an illegal payments scandal 100 years ago (some things never change ) and the players were banned and made available for transfer. United suddenly had four of the best players in the world added to their ranks and won two leagues and a cup in the next four years. Outside that brief window they had been bouncing around between the divisions and had only finished in the top half of the top flight on two other occasions in their 44 seasons in the league. Busby left United the biggest name in world football (admittedly in part thanks to tragedy) and well established as a giant in the game. No one else has lifted a club so far. The likes of Shanks moved in to established major clubs who had hit a rough patch, while at the other end of the scale you’ve got Clough et al taking previously also-ran clubs and giving them a brief burn at the top of the game, but failing to establish them amongst the elite.

I’ll be brief on Fergie mainly because I’m liable to rant at extreme length when I get going on the topic, but if anyone fancies arguing the toss on the subject I’ll happily engage About the only good thing I can say about the man is he made it much easier for me to stand by my principles and walk away from United a decade ago.

Contrary to your assertion Fergie in fact inherited two very healthy clubs, and promptly took them backwards. He never successfully built a side himself since St Mirren sacked him and only found success at United when economics became the deciding factor in the game and United suddenly found themselves in a league of one. Until that point United were flirting with relegation under his sage guidance. In his time in England he has never been able to compete with teams who were on a level footing, and the failure of United to punch anything like their weight in Europe and his embarrassing international career just further highlights his status as nothing more than a flat track bully. At Aberdeen the great spine of the team he inherited from messrs MacLeod and McNeil was in place throughout the glory years and was largely still there on its collective Zimmer frame when he left the club in disarray in 86.

It was originally supposed to reopen for the 2003 FA Cup Final. Needless to say it has over run a wee bit

Who knows, dude, who knows.

They may as well just move into the Olympic Stadium, as it seems that has almost an equal chance of opening ahead of Wembley than the other way around.

If you have MLB TV check out the Dodgers v Rockies..its 8-8 in the 4th. I think groundsharing is a good idea. It sure works in Milan.

There was a rumour that because of financial difficulties that Spurs maybe buy it and lease it back to the FA for finals and internationals, how true this is no idea.

Different mind set here, all teritorial and stuff. Talking of stadiums I came upon this link no idea if it's any use for people but I'll post it anyway.

If they can get twice as many people in to watch them at Wembley than at White Hart Lane, then they'd have more revenue than now.

Also one team will move into the Olympic Stadium after 2012, don't believe anyone that says it will remain as an athletics only facility. It's not financially viable.
