Does the expansion part now mean they don't have picks for the first season? |

I actually added them either the day of or the day before, so the expansion teams did get picks in the rookie draft. In the real setup, though, I want teams to know what they lost and need, so I will make sure the expansion draft happens in October for the real run. I ended up simming to 2340. I also noticed that I am eating up my hard drive space fast, so I am going to look at a few things that happened, like The Slog winning five or six seasons in a row, and see what else needs tweaking. Then, goodbye large 2+ GB save folders!

January 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 6 January 2319 CBO Celebrates New Year The CBO is celebrating the new year with a lot of adjustments in preparation for the second expansion of the CBO. Commissioner Jason LaRue has indicated that he thinks this will be the last for awhile, with the expectation that the league may eventually expand out instead of adding more teams. We have the alignments and uniforms modeled at the end of this update. In this update, we want to take a look at the realignment along with new teams in each league. Some of the minor teams have reaffiliated as well as moved up or down in league level based on LaRue's census report that determined settlement/township populations. NEBL Not only did the NEBL change some teams, but the divisions will be named differently in 2319. The Patriot League will be made up of the Stars and Stripes division, while the Yankee League will be made up of the Old Glory and USA divisions. Some teams joining the league include the: Cranston Boomers Greenwich Grays Lawrence Revolution Pawtucket Pips Portland Pops West Hartford Alphas Diamond City said a tearful goodbye to the town of Natick, its top minor league team throughout the history of the minors. As part of the expansion, some cities were a part of the sale. Cape Cod's team will be the affiliate, starting in 2320, so the town of Natick gets only a one-year break from being a baseball town. MML Of the 28 teams, 13 are new to the league: Attleboro Mongrels Beverly Beverages Brookline Bandoliers Capital City Conquerors Chicopee Vans East Providence Townies Everett Mutant Hounds Methuen Spy Hunters Middletown Sextants Milford Mole Rats Wallingford Elis West Haven Demos Weymouth Cannibals The other members' towns voted on division names and decided to keep the divisional names as pre-War Boston legends: Boggs, Murtagh, Williams, and Yastrzemski. BMU The BMU is the original minor league of the CBO. Members have changed but like the traditional division names: Dark Hollow Pond, Cambridge, Downtown Boston, and Glowing Sea. No, they no longer make regional sense, but the league loves the memorabilia. The Dark Hollow Pond name has long been popular, and the CBO will not allow a team to adopt that as a location or team name. For changes, well, there are a bunch this season. Teams added to the league are: Bangor Fort Knights Brunswick Brainiacs Clifton Vertibirds Cumberland Convicts Danvers Sonics Dedham Bombers Enfield Rugs Fitchburg Finches Greenfield Disciples Pittsfield Trolleys Shelton Hitters Shrewsbury Cosmos Southington Handies Watertown Armorers Westfield Gun Fu Woonsocket Butchers GBRL The GBRL made wholesale changes in anticipation of even more changes as 15 of the 16 named teams from the Nuka World League and Vim! League (except Far Harbor) will join the GBRL in 2320 with more changes coming at that time. For now, not only did some teams change, but the associations and divisions have all changed names. There will be the Heroes and Saviors leagues hosting the Danse, Howard, Garvey, and Desdemona divisions. New teams include: Abernathy Adamantium Eastlake Aquaboys Graygarden Action Boys Haverhill Grooms Mystic Pines Raybathers Sandy Coves Freaks Somerville Place Jets Tenpines Bluff Manta Men Trumbull Glow Sox

January 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 9 February 2319 College Season Preseason Begins The 2319 collegiate season is set to begin in just over a month. We are featuring here the changes and newcomers. There are now 98 collegiate teams with 24 making the playoffs, from the Play-in Round to the final two of the College Series. Tufts University is the defending champions, downing the New Hampshire State Giants. While still talented, the Jumbos lost several key people, including #1 overall pick, 1B Bear Jones, both the College Series MVP and Top Collegiate Hitter. There are 10 new teams: Mitchell College Mariners (ASC) Olin College of Engineering Phoenix (MCC) Brandeis Judges (MCC) Bowdoin College Polar Bears (NEAC) Husson Eagles (NEAC) Emerson Lions (Independents) Norwich Cadets (Independents) New England College Pilgrims (Independents) Trinity College Bantams (Independents) Colby College Mules (Independents) The only other change was the U.S. Coast Guard Academy moving from the Independents to the Atlantic Sound Conference, making that conference the largest with 14 teams. CBO Commissioner Jason LaRue has indicated that the plan is to continue building the CCBL but that a total of 128 teams would be the maximum in a well-balanced design. The make up of each conference appears at the end of this update. Freshmen to Watch SS Top Dog Fowler, UMass - Fowler enters the college ranks as the top collegiate middle infielder. Scouts love his ability to be a patient hitter and drive the ball where outfielders are not. Some have questions about his attitude, with a few concerned that he must be with a winner to be happy. His arm is really good, meaning he is likely to stay at SS at this level. SP Stumpy Gilmore, Quinnipiac - Gilmore gets his nickname for being short throughout his early years. He grew but is a bit undersized at 5/10". Still, he has a durable arm that relies on his knuckleball to fool hitters. Scouts believe that his great potential for control and developing his knuckleball into an elite pitch will help him to become a future ace. LF Mackie Braveheart, Rivier - Braveheart may be the elite hitter of incoming freshmen. Scouts believe he will be an all-tools hitter who could eventually shatter some OBP/SLG records. Scouts love most his ability to find the right pitch and added ability of swinging at balls in the strike zone. His defense is not great, but he does not need to be good there to be a star. 3B No Hands Humphrey, Nichols College - Humphrey is the elite power hitter of his class with scouts seeing him battling for home run titles from day one for the Bison. 1B Randall Marcus of Roxbury College may be the only player in the CCBL with more power than Humphrey. Marcus hit 34 last season, a goal Humphrey can shoot for. 1B Antonio Smithjones, Lesley - Smithjones is another powerful hitter entering the CCBL. He is large, measuring 6'8" and 250 pounds. When he puts his large frame into a swing, the ball can travel just about as far as anyone else can hit it. He is a decent fielding 1B, so he should be on the field from Day 1 with the Lynx. Top CCBL Players 1. SP Maverick Rizzy, Quincy Coll - Rizzy finished his sophomore season with a 10-3, 1.40 season. Based on those numbers, he was the Top Collegiate Pitcher Award winner. Assuming 2319 is similar, we should see Rizzy among some of the CCBL's all-time lists and his name called early in the draft. 2. SP Snag Favre, ECSU - Favre has a shortened freshman season, pitching in only three games and finishing 0-1 with a 2.08 ERA. Scouts believe he has only one factor stopping him from being the top overall pick in 2320: his health. There are concerns that his body is not built to handle the pitching load expected of him. His snappy pitches have a lot of movement, so he may need to upgrade his straight fastballs to pitch an entire career. 3. SS Monster Milam, American Int'l - Milam burst onto the scene as an exciting defensive SS who will one daty develop into a major league hitter. He did not have a bad start, hitting .354/2/30 and stealing 24 bases. 4. SP Ronnie Rants, Roxbury College - Rants is the "stuff" pitcher, using his blazing fastballs to frustrate hitters. He finished 9-4 with a 2.43 ERA as a freshman, showing that he is one of the top pitchers in the CCBL. His 4-seamer and cutter are equally detrimental, helping him to 143 strikeouts in 115.0 innings pitched. 5. RF Old Blue Sandoval, Narragansett - Sandoval is considered a 1st-round talent for the 2319 draft. Scouts love his eye and how he is a great all-around hitter. In two seasons, he is hitting .366 with 45 home runs and 114 RBI. A 25 homer 2319 would put him as one of the CCBL's best homer hitter of all-time.

February 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 17 February 2319 The Youth Rises The 2319 Commonwealth Youth League season is set to begin with each of the North and South regions adding a new division and multiple new teams. In the North Region, the Franklin Pierce Division joins the fray, while the South Region added the Nathan Hale Division. Several teams have moved around, but there are also some new youth teams joining the CYL. Divisions and teams are at the end of this update. North Region additions: Andover Radhaunts Beverly Burglars Burlington Sweet Tooths Dover Gentleboys Rutland Glow South Burlington Astrokids South Region additions: Bridgeport Gears Narragansett Noises New Shoreham Drifters Stamford Wraiths Waterbury Waterwalkers Westerly Circuits Top Freshmen 1. CF Huge Jack Mann, Taunton Giants - Mann is a beast with getting on base and then extending to extra bases, at least according to scouts. Scouts think that he will be a top-of-the-order staple throughout his career, with an excellent ability to turn any LCF/RCF base hit into a double. He is not overly aggressive on steals, but can swipe as many as he wants. While he still needs to improve defensively, he should also not have trouble running down fly balls, meaning he is likely to be a CF, though he came in listed at RF. 2. LF Orel Gep, Sudbury Celebs - Son of Oren Gep, the youngest has made his claim to the outfield, currently listed as the a top newcomer for the Celebs. Scouts think that he is a cleanup hitter type who can work the count. Defensively, he is considered solid. He has some speed, though he is not expected to steal a lot of bases. 3. SP Justin Nightwatch, Bridgewater Baristas - The son of former outfielder Jace Nightwatch, the younger Nightwatch is a talented pitcher with an effective four-pitch arsenal. Scouts believe his splitter will one day be elite. he is expected to develop a well-rounded ability to blast pitches past hitters, keep them off balance to prevent home runs, and hit his spots. In other words, Nightwatch, should he fully develop, will be a staff ace. 4. 3B David Pageturner, Haverhill Detectives - Another son of a CBO veteran (Mace), and in this case, also the nephew of one (Matt), Pageturner follows neither in his father's outfield prowess or his uncle's pitching arm. Instead, Pageturner is a corner IF who could play the middle. He is also a premier power hitter who should start on his power journey as a freshman with the Detectives. 5. 2B Alex Noob, Boston Harbor Fellows - The 4th son of a veteran listed, though it is important to note that Alex is related to Sam Noob, not Josh. Two unrelated Noobs played at the same time. Alex is a baseball nut, willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. He loves to get the bat on the ball, though he swings more to make contact than drive balls to the gap or over the fence. As a pull hitter, that could mean teams play him down the line, so he needs to work on patience and driving the ball to the opposite field. He has excellent range and an arm. Once he learns how to handle his glove better, he will move to SS. Top of the Draft Here are the five seniors we expect to be taken earliest in the 2319 Rookie Draft. 1. SP Starlight Ball, Salem Werewolves - He has not been as dominant in his youth career as he is projected to be later, but Ball has shown flashes of being a star. Scouts think that he will eventually become a pitcher whose pitch movement on his four-pitch repertoire will frustrate and overmatch most hitters. They see nothing but ace potential in his future, giving him a high ceiling and high floor. A dominant senior season to improve on his career 15-11, 3.33 ERA stats would push him up draft boards. 2. 1B Rocket Rooth, New Haven Sailors - Like father, like son, Rooth is expected to be one of the CBO's premier power hitters. He is tall at 6'6" but is still too lean, meaning muscle gain will make the difference. Rooth may also be all name, since he dropped to just 9 home runs his junior season versus the 25 he hit as a freshman. Returning to a 20-plus homer season is what he will need to go high in the draft. 3. SP Wand Engill, Castle Freedom - Health is the key for Engill, who will not play until mid-April, early-May. In the past two seasons, he has had 15 starts compared to his 14 as a freshman, so he has never been able to show all he's got. However, he has shown dominance at times, compiling a 13-4 record with a 2.65 ERA to go along with 270 Ks in 203.2 innings. 4. LF Yeller Cocoa, Newsburyport Cubs - Scouts are starting to warm up to the fact that Cocoa may not be his legendary dad, but he can play ball. Stats do not scream superstar, though his .342/.449/.466 line is both promising and concerning. Cocoa could develop power but has not shown very much. He has been a singles machine, though, and that could lead to a job at the top of a batting order at the higher levels. 5. SS Pattie Pembroke, Barrington Chess Knights - Pembroke is probably the best all-around baseball player in the entire class of '19. He can play any position well except catcher on the field. He is also a great top of the lineup hitter who had elite contact and the ability to avoid strikeouts. His average dipped a little in 2318, but scouts think he will bounce back strong, seeing .300 as a regular number in his batting stats at the next level.

February 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 24 February 2319 Nuka World Tournament - 2319 Lost in the excitement of the upcoming season, the 2319 Nuka Cup Tournament has seen changes with the entirety of the tournament being held in one week. We will get to that later, but first, let's talk why. Commissioner Jason LaRue has stated that he feels the Spring Training period is much too short for the needs of developing players. Therefore, the CBO Spring Training period will move from one week to a four-week period, starting March 10. In the meantime, the Nuka Cup Tournament will take place March 1-7, and the Commish has mentioned that the expansion to 32 teams in 2320 will follow that same pattern. The initial losers of the Play-in Round of the now single-game elimination will play exhibition games against Nuka World League and Vim! League teams as part of the farewell to those leagues and welcome to their CBO representatives, the Nuka World Thrills and the Far Harbor Fog. CBO teams will visit those locations between March 3-7. The top two teams from each of the Season pass Association leagues will be in the Boston area, though, taking on teams during the Nuka Cup Tournament, their opponents being the first four teams eliminated in the double-elimination portion before the semifinals in Diamond City. That means there will be plenty of games played over the course of a few days. Now to the Nuka Cup Tournament regions. The champions Diamond City have home-field advantage throughout the Cup. Teams playing for the right to play for the double-elimination portion of the Cup are #2 Fort Hagen vs #7 University Point, #3 Jamaica Plain vs #6 Nordhagen Beach, and #4 Easy Town vs #5 Roxbury. Lexington's regional is matched with the Swatters. Teams in their region include #2 Vault 81 vs #7 County Crossing, #3 Concord vs #6 Oberland, and #4 Goodneighbor vs #5 Salem. The runners-up, Cambridge, hosts a regional for the first time. Teams involved in their regional are #2 Egret vs #7 Sunshine Tidings, #3 The Slog vs #6 Spectacle Island, and #4 Atom vs #5 Nahant. Finally, Southie is the host of the final regional, paired with the Coursers. Teams in their regional are #2 Starlight vs #7 Quincy, #3 FHE vs #6 Bunker Hill, and #4 Malden vs #5 Glowing Sea.

March 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 10 March 2319 Nuka Cup Tournament The Nuka Cup Tournament was a one-week affair this season, meaning that there was a lot of action but many fewer games. As mentioned, Commissioner Jimmy LaRue decided that Spring Training would expand from one week to four weeks, taking away some of the exhibition of teams and giving younger players more opportunities to make their marks and get some game experience before the season begins. he has said that it would be beneficial for the expansion teams to get more work in, also, as they begin operation in late 2319. With that stated, the Nuka Cup Tournament has come to a close, and we are pleased to report that there is a first-time champion holding on to the Nuka Cup until March 2320: the Malden Grognaks. Let's see how they got there. Diamond City Regional Play-in Round: #2 Fort Hagen 5, #7 University Point 2 #6 Nordhagen Beach 6, #3 Jamaica Plain 5 #4 Easy Town 8, #5 Roxbury 1 First Round: Nordhagen Beach 9, #1 Diamond City 3 Easy Town 3, Fort Hagen 2 Second Round: Nordhagen Beach 9, Easy Town 4 Diamond City 4, Fort Hagen 3, 13 inn. - Fort Hagen eliminated Third Round: Easy Town 4, Diamond City 3 - Diamond City eliminated Championship: Easy Town 5, Nordhagen Beach 4 Easy Town 7, Nordhagen Beach 3 - Easy Town advances Lexington Regional Play-in Round: #2 Vault 81 3, #7 County Crossing 2 #6 Oberland 12, #3 Concord 3 #4 Goodneighbor 3, #5 Salem 1 First Round: #1 Lexington 8, Oberland 4 Vault 81 6, Goodneighbor 2 Second Round: Vault 81 2, Lexington 0 Goodneighbor 4, Oberland 1 - Oberland eliminated Third Round: Goodneighbor 5, Lexington 1 - Lexington eliminated Championship: Vault 81 5, Goodneighbor 4 - Vault 81 advances Cambridge Regional Play-in Round: #2 Egret 2, #7 Sunshine Tidings 1 #3 The Slog 2, #6 Spectacle Island 1 #5 Nahant 2, #4 Atom 1 First Round: #1 Cambridge 6, Nahant 3 The Slog 6, Egret 2 Second Round: Cambridge 5, The Slog 3 Egret 12, Nahant 8 - Nahant eliminated Third Round: Egret 6, The Slog 3 - The Slog eliminated Championship: Egret 4, Cambridge 0 Egret 2, Cambridge 1 - Egret advances Southie Regional Play-in Round: #7 Quincy 7, #2 Starlight 6, 12 inn. #3 FHE 5, #6 Bunker Hill 2, 15 inn. #4 Malden 5, #5 Glowing Sea 4 First Round: Quincy 6, #1 Southie 4 Malden 3, FHE 2 Second Round: Malden 6, Quincy 4 FHE 7, Southie 6 - Southie eliminated Third Round: Quincy 3, FHE 1 - FHE eliminated Championship: Malden 3, Quincy 2 - Malden advances Semifinals #4 Easy Town 7, #2 Vault 81 4 #4 Malden 1, #2 Egret 0 Nuka Cup Championship Malden 7, Easy Town 3, 10 inn. The Malden Grognaks clinched their first-ever Nuka Cup Tournament title with a thrilling come-from-behind extra inning offense burst, defeating fellow Brotherhood League member, the Easy Town Assaultrons, 7-3, in 10 innings. While starter Hrye Caje was named the game's MVP with a six-inning, three earned runs allowed affair, it was the Grognaks offense in the late game that mattered. Entering the top of the 9th, Malden trailed 3-1 with the Trons' Tee Browning on the mound. Browning led off by walking Jack of Diamonds Cordero. With one out, pinch hitter Buttons Bunterson surprised with a two-run home run to tie the game, 3-3. Bunterson has five career homers over seven seasons. In the 10th inning, the Grognaks axed the competition. Browning again started the inning, but he was quickly pulled when Malden's Floren Habern led off with a solo home run. With Tut Cadillac in relied, the onslaught began. Cadillac walked Lance Tinter, allowed him to steal second, and then intentionally walked Jacob Tarberry. With one out and runners at the corner, Cordero hit an RBI sac fly to make it 5-3. Keepuh Knockin then hit a two-run bomb to make it 7-3, leading to Easy Town pulling Cadillac. CBO-SPA Exhibitions There were a total of 16 CBO teams that faced off against Season Pass Assocation (NWL and VL) teams. The 12 teams eliminated from the Play-in Round of the Nuka Cup Tournament played five-game sets against the bottom 12 teams of the SPA, while the next four eliminated played three-game series against the SPA's best four teams in each of the regional locations of the Nuka Cup Tournament. Matchups and results below: Oberland vs Grape (NWL) at Southie: Grp 3-1, Obe 9-2, Grp 7-1 Southie vs Far Harbor (VL) at Diamond City: Sou 1-0, Spu 12-1, Sou 11-2 Fort Hagen vs Dark (NWL) at Cambridge: FtH 4-0, FtH 18-1, Dark 5-4 Nahant vs Dalton Farm (VL) at Lexington: Nah 9-5, Nah 7-3, Nah 6-1 Spring Training Today marks the first day of Spring Training in the first season ever where it will last an entire month instead of a week. Teams have called up players to their 40-man spring rosters and have begun to make some cuts. Based on the players invited, we will feature several young players we are looking at to make a splash in 2319. We will also list the cuts as franchises reduce their numbers to 160 players in their systems. Bunker Hill - SS Alvin Dark - The 3rd overall pick in the 2317 draft, dark played and started in 41 games with the 75ers last season, racking up a .168/3/8 line. The team is expecting those numbers to continue to improve and cite his glove as the reason they need him now before he has fully developed. County Crossing - SS Warring Morris - 2317's #1 overall pick went straight from a championship at Yale to the worst team entering the 2318 season. In 111 games with 105 starts as a rookie, Morris hit .205/3/42/17 SB. He has already shown some frustration but his talent should boost both his numbers and team's success sooner rather than later. Fort Hagen - SP Bubs Tentsleep - We are not sure if this is a splash pick or just an improvement pick. Tentsleep went 13-10 with a 4.54 ERA in his debut season with the Silver Shroud. The former 2nd-round pick by Starlight, Tentsleep started 27 games and appeared in 34. The 22-year-old is still developing, but the Shroud hope he can take the leap up the rotation this season. Lexington - SP Diesel O'Neal - The Synths rookie appeared in 10 games as a reliever in 2318, going 1-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 15.2 innings. Now, Lexington is going to ask him to join the rotation. At 26, the former Concord 2nd-rounder is almost in a now-or-never situation. he will have to beat out veteran Admiral Kelm to get a starting nod, or the Synths might deal him to get some more help on the offense. Malden - RF Nhat Tru - A 4th-round pick in 2316 out of Boston Common (CYL), Tru appeared in eight games late in 2318, starting seven. He his .391/0/5 in that stretchm giving the Grognaks hope that he will be their everyday starter in RF. They want his good power to show in Spring Training. Quincy - SP Arcade Anderson - He is penciled in as the 2nd starter behind Kid Boots Appling for the Granites, so a splash will be necessary. The #2 overall pick in the 2318 draft, the true rookie is in feast or famine mode with his new squad. We expect Anderson to make the rotation, but the question is how much success can he find in Year 1. Roxbury - SP Crawdad McCarthy - McCarthy is another rookie looking to break into the rotation. The former 5th-overall pick in the 2316 draft, McCarthy has appeared in relief in 16 games over two seasons with the Rad Sox. He is 2-0 with two saves and a 3.06 ERA in those 17.2 innings of work. Now, he is ready to try his hand at starting in the CBO. The Sox have him listed as the 4th starter in the Spring Training rotation. Southie - 1B Earthwind More - The 2316 4th-round pick More debuted in 2318, appearing in 34 games and starting 27. In that time, he hit .316 with 4 home runs and 19 RBI. The Brews are now looking to pass on the torch to More as the full-time starter, hoping he can hit 20-plus home runs for them. he showed his star power, too, earning the Association Semifinal Series MVP. Sunshine Tidings - SP Talley O'Reilly - Fort Hagen's 15th-overall pick in the 2317 Draft, O'Reilly was a part of the Red Jay Jones trade. Now, he is pencilled in as the Chemists' 2nd starter, meaning that he needs to be ready now. That may be a tough task, but he did show success in 2318, including going 3-0 with a 0.45 ERA in three starts totaling 20.0 innings wth Worcester of the NEBL (AAA) in 2318. Numbers like what he had at Tenpines Bluff (MML), 3-4, 3.48 in 10 starts, would be great for his CBO numbers in Sunshine Tidings mind. March 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 11 March 2319 CCBL Season Begins: Title Up for Grabs When the 2318 season concluded, with the Tufts Jumbos defeating the NHSU Giants, college baseball felt as though the baseball gods got it right yet again, just like it did for the star-studded Yale team of 2317. Again, the champions had the #1 overall pick to go with their win when County Crossing selected 1B Bear Jones #1 overall in the 2318 draft. He joins Yale's Warring Morris with the Bloodbugs as #1 overall picks from the championship team the previous season. The Jumbos, just like Yale, are not expected to repeat with the loss of talent they had in 2319. So someone new must emerge. In looking at PAM's predictions for 2319, one big stat jumps out. NONE of the 98 collegiate teams are predicted to have 40 or more wins in the 60-game season. PAM picks three to tie for the best record at 39-21: American Int'l, ECSU, and Framingham State. Here are the tiers of most wins for the other playoff expectant teams listed in the order we saw them on PAM's list: 38 wins Bentley Plymouth State Narragansett 37 wins Boston College Bunker Hill New Hampshire Vermont Tech Post Saint Anselm Elms College Maine Maritime 36 wins Brown UMass-Dartmouth RISD 35 wins Hellenic American Sturbridge Bridgewater St Westfield St Providence Acadia College Someone has to win the MassCon Curry College, Nahant Marine Institute, and WNEU are all predicted to be tied at 34-26 with Salem State and UMass-Lowell picked at 33-27 and Mass Atlantic and UMass picked at 32-28. We will just stop there. By PAM’s estimates, the winner of the MassCon will be the #7 seed by record. But all seven teams listed are decently good. So who will it actually be? Well, UMass has won the conference the past two seasons, even going 52-8 in the regular season just two years ago. They have reached the Sweet 16 in three straight seasons. Freshman SS Top Dog Fowler is already expected to make an impact on the Minutemen team, but the question is how much juice the rest of the team has. In comparison to their conference mates, we think they have enough. Curry College recently won a title, so they could be the team to emerge. The Colonels seem to be more college-talented than other teams in the conference, though they lack a big-name star. UMass-Lowell reached the Sweet 16 in 2318. NHI, WNEU, and Salem State all lack postseason experience. The Vikings have never made it, though this is only their fourth season in the CCBL. The Aquas do have some potential star power in 2B Bam Bam Davis, 3B Tennis Nakada, and RF Leo Sporino, though all three have to show something in 2319 for it to matter. Award Predictions For hitters, freshmen and sophomores need not apply? PAM's top nine players listed as the top collegiate hitter are either draft-eligible juniors or seniors. PAM's top choice is 1B JaRussell Marcus of Saint Anselm College, one of the potential national champions. Other top contenders include: RF Old Blue Sandoval, Narragansett; SS Bruce Anderson, also of teh Hawks with Marcus; 2B Jordan French, Plymouth State; and JaMarcus' twin brother, 1B Randall Marcus of Roxbury College. In the race to being the top pitcher, some underclassmen can indeed apply. PAM has Elms College's SP Graham Cracker Fontenot as the favorite to be the top pitcher and perhaps #1 overall draft choice. He finishe 3rd in voting last season as a freshman. His team should b better this season, helping to improve on that 3-6, 2.04 mark in 2318. Other contenders include: SP Maverick Rizzy, Quincy College, last season's winner as a sophomore; Worcester State's Damien Ballerini; SP Whit Louaker of Bunker Hill; and SP Snag Favre of ECSU.

March 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 17 March 2319 Spring Training Report We were told not to get too excited about the expanded Spring Training introduced this season. So, we will update now and then after Spring Training is over to see what the stats and performances showed in teams whittling their CBO rosters down to 25 and making more necessary cuts on their rosters. What we will do is take a few looks at young players making their mark. This week, we want to start this with a player whose CYL younger brother is mentioned in the CYL preview below, Quincy's 1B Annakin Hayjen. Hayjen played in 67 games with the Granites last season, starting 43. The 2317 9th round pick and son of Aesed Hayjen, Annakin hit .201 with 6 home runs and 24 RBI in those games. With the NEBL's Fall Rivers before that, Hayjen hit .224 with 8 home runs and 22 RBI. So far in Spring Training, Hayjen is hitting .583/.643/1.250, putting him among the top hitters so far. CYL Predictions The 2319 Commonwealth Youth League season is here! Last season, the top-seeded team in the South Region, the Coventry Quads, defeated the #9 seed from the North Region, the Lexington Minuteboys. It was the first Youth Series appearance for each team. Based on PAM's predictions, the Augusta Moose of the NR Longfellow Division and the New Bedford Whales of the SR Mayhew Division should be the top two teams in 2319. The Moose would be making their playoffs debut as the #1 overall seed. Players to watch on the Augusta team include senior SS Kess Kutha (.362/36/138 career stats), senior 1B Crunchy Salsman (.328/35/124), senior RF Kermit Hughes (.304/31/104), and a triple threat of freshmen in pitchers Hammer Boston and Anth McKinnies and 2B Kamari Wells. The Whales are looking to win the Mayhew Division for the third-straight season and make the playoffs for the fourth straight year. Despite regular season success, they have only as gone as far as the Regional Quarterfinals (final 16 teams in the CYL) in that time. Standouts include former CBO player Gavin Eviritts son, senior SP Zap Everitts (15-11, 4.58) who has made significant progress from his freshman season, junior SP Darby Walsh (2-6, 4.68, 9 SV), C Goliath Baldwin (.298/30/92), and a bevy of talented freshmen, including top scouted in C Ack Westheim (son of CBO legend Racky Westheim), CF Chubba Horton, 2B Chig Necto, and 2B Huey McGraw. The overall outlook for the top players in each region are mostly made up of upperclassmen, but a few youngsters have a shot. In the NR, the top hitter (Slugger Supreme Award) pick is Boston Harbor's sophomore SS Ambush McMahon. McMahon hit .302 with 8 homers and 30 RBI last season, but PAM predicts him to up that batting average to .455 in 2319. Other candidates include sophomore CF Merlin McCloud, Derry Farmers; junior LF Bear Bather, Gloucester Dog Trainers; senior SS Wild Card Fitzgerald, Covenant Dandy Boys; and senior CF Amazon Forest, Castle Freedom. Worm Sanders, drafted in the 3rd round as the 80th overall pick by The Slog, of North Charles Bank won the past two seasons. The NR's top pitcher pick (Mound Ace Award) is somewhat problematic. Apparently, PAM did not get the memo that the pick, talented SP Wand Engill of Castle, will miss at least the first month of the two-month season. Therefore, let's pick PAM's #2, Plum Island's freshman SP Killian Alchemist. Other contenders include: junior SP Daniel Grullon, Hester Mechanists; junior SP Donnie Clockwork, Nahant Couriers; freshman SP Josh Rahn, Danvers Perception; and freshman McKinnies of Augusta. Rhubarb Coombs. drafted 6th overall by University Point, of Gloucester won last season to go along with his 2315 Mound Ace Award. In the SR, senior LF Dimmy Schiopu of the Naushon Island Radsharks is the pick to be the top hitter. Other contenders include senior RF Ryder Bussey, Sandwich Screamers; senior 1B Bliss Fusion, Wellfleet Tarberries; senior RF Grass Ash, Old Lyme Lake Monsters; freshman 2B Googie Telesford, New London Poppers; and sone of legend Aesed Hayjen, senior RF Aesop Hayjen, Dennis Menaces. Another Dimmy, Dimmy Suciu, drafted by Diamond City in the 3rd round as the 82d-overall pick, of Coventry was the 2318 Slugger Supreme Award winner. The top pitching candidate in the SR is sophomore SP Chopsticks Shaw of the Radsharks in what would be a double award for the school. Contenders include: senior SP Bryce Yaag, Truro Hatchlings; freshman SP Kieron Taguchi, Forest Park Brahmiluffs; sophomore SP Slippery Scannell McRattigan, Chicopee Galaxy'; senior SP Edgy Ronan Rice; and the Whales' Everitts. Hadley Falls' Ernie Maxload, drafted in the 4th round, 88th overall by Sunshine Tidings, was the 2318 Mound Ace Award winner.

April 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 April 2319 The April 1 Super Post CBO Spring Training Report Three weeks of the first four-week Spring Training in CBO history are now complete. While we do not know that these games are telling us more about each team, it is most certainly welcome to see new faces in CBO uniforms, more than we ever saw in the Nuka Cup where teams were trying to get their "25" ready, mostly. Now, we can see how the 40-man setup works, with some of the 15 getting every opportunity to make the team. We have featured Quincy's Annakin Hayjen twice now, and he is still killing it in ST, batting .543/8/11. Roxbury's Bix Bimbleman (.468/3/7) is making his mark as a youngster. Southie C Ploop Gomerring (.231/2/3) is leading the league in walks (12), which has helped his OBP (.404). On the mound, while Salem's Paul Stains (1-0. 0.00, 17 IP) is one player who has yet to give up an earned run, Jamaica Plain's RP Matthew Hughes (0.00, 14.1 IP) has also done the same. Vault 81's Mirko Polanecky (4-0, 2.60, 17.1 IP) may have devloped into a viable starter for the Dwellers. Cambridge's RP Bunter Mayberry (1-0, SV, 1.46, 12.1 IP, 16 K) is among veterans near the top of the ST strikeouts list. His teammate, SP Scooter Yaghmour (2-2. 5.03), leads all pitchers with 20 K in 19.2 IP, but he is giving up a lot of hits and runs outside those strikeouts. For a team that may be star-heavy, they will need good pitching for days when the offense cannot get it started. CBO ST Standings CBO ST Statistical Leaders CCBL Analysis The collegiate season is now 1/3 complete with 20 of the 60 games being played per team. Here is the Top 25: 1) WNEU Statesmen (160.6, +) 2) UMass-Dartmouth Corsairs (158.6, -) 3) Holy Cross Crusaders (153.0, ++) 4) Elms College Blazers (139.7, ++) 5) Brown Bears (137.7, o) 6) Saint Anselm College Hawks (137.7, ++) 7) New Haven Chargers (133.8, ++) 8) UConn Yankees (131.1, ++) 9) Salem State Vikings (130.1, ++) 10) Worcester State Lancers (130.1, ++) 11) Framingham State Rams (127.1, ++) 12) Hellenic American Greeks (126.1, ++) 13) Bentley Falcons (124.1, ++) 14) Providence Friars (124.1, ++) 15) MCLA Trailblazers (122.1, --) 16) Nuka University Mixologists (121.8, o) 17) CIT Engineers (118.8, -) 18) ECSU Warriors (117.8, +) 19) UMass Minutemen (114.8, --) 20) Bay Path Wildcats (112.8, --) 21) Salve Regina Seahawks (111.2, ++) 22) Narragansett Tide (110.8, --) 23) American Intl Yellow Jackets (110.2, ++) 24) Rivier Raiders (110.2, ++) 25) Westfield State Owls (110.2, ++) CCBL Players of the Month Hitter - At only 20 years of age, Randall Marcus could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Roxbury College Tigers, as March was one to remember for the first baseman and he has captured the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .493 with 16 home runs, 39 RBIs and 26 runs scored. Marcus currently leads the CCBL in 11 offensive categories, including homers, RBI, and TB (87). He is second in WAR (2.1) to Hellenic American University's CF Trey Beau (2.3). Pitcher - Callex Blanchard of the ECSU Warriors bewildered opposing batters in March and was honored as the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Pitcher of the Month earlier today. The ECSU starter sparkled last month with a 6-0 record and 2.83 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 35 innings and had 38 strikeouts. CYL Analysis The CYL has completed about 14 of the season's 50 games, or 28% of the season. The top ten teams as rated by BNN are: 1) Derry Farmers (176.1, o) 2) Gloucester Dog Trainers (166.9, ++) 3) Malden Megabeasts (154.4, ++) 4) Naushon Island Radsharks (146.0, ++) 5) Meriden Tinkers (144.0, ++) 6) Bridgewater Baristas (142.0, +) 7) Ogunquit Trolls (139.0, ++) 8) New Haven Sailors (138.0, +) 9) Bangor Wolves (133.6, ++) 10) Littleton Beasts (133.6, ++) No players were selected for players of the month since fewer than 15 games were played. The top players offfensively based on the number of categories they lead looks like this: Hitter - RF Hiski Airikkala, Taunton Giants - Leader in SLG (1.188), OPS (1.734), WAR (1.8), ISO (.792), OPS+ (320), wOBA (.684). Tied as leader in HR (12) Pitcher - SP Justin Nightwatch (3-0, 0.55), Bridgewater Baristas - Leader in WAR (2.8), K (61), FIP (0.41). Tied for lead in shutouts (2), K/9 (16.6).

April 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 7 April 2319 CBO Predictions The 10th and final season of the 28-team CBO before it becomes a 32-team field next season begins, and PAM has embraced parity. We are not sure if Commissioner Jimmy LaRue shares the same sentiment of former commissioner, Nate Howard. What we do know, though, is that the CBO has been just as exciting and entertaining as it has been since 2298 and beyond that in years 2296 and 2297. Looking at PAM's picks, the Brotherhood, Institute, and Railroad Leagues will have ties for 1st place. In the Minutemen League, Jamaica Plain is expected to be the solo winner and hold onto the CBO's top record at 79-51. Easy Town and Malden are picked to finish tied for 1st place. By tiebreakers, the Grognaks would win the BL. In the Institute, both Fort Hagen and Lexington are picked tobe at the top with the Silver Shroud getting a one-run differential tiebreaker. Finally, the RL is picked to have a three-way tie among Egret, FHE, and Roxbury. Based on run differentials as the tiebreaker here, the Yao Guai would win it, followed by the Ninjas and then the Rad Sox. For the playoff outlook, it looks this way: NCA 1. Malden 2. Fort Hagen 3. Easy Town 4. Lexington 5. Starlight 6. Concord SCA 1. Jamaica Plain 2. FHE 3. Atom 4. Egret 5. Roxbury 6. Vault 81 Looking at the picks for the Nuka Hitter and Vim! Pitcher awards, there are some big names and previous winners in the mix. Winners last season were: NCA Nuka Hitter: CF Esau Babz, Bunker Hill NCA Vim! Pitcher: RF Pockets Wrench, Vault 81 SCA Nuka Hitter: SP Mercury Morris, Starlight SCA Vim! Pitcher: SP Mike Searocker, Egret In the race for the NCA's Nuka Hitter Award, Babz's brother, CF Eden Babz of Easy Town is picked as this season's favorite. Eden Babz won the title in both 2315 and 2317 and will look to become the fourth member of the "500-Club" for stolen bases. Other contenders include 2B Johnboy Zikmund of Sunshine Tidings; Esau Babz; 3B Zap Mast, The Slog; and LD Dude Lebowski, Lexington. For the Vim! Pitcher Award in the NCA, the Witch Hats' SP Paul Stains is looking to win his third award following his 2310 (Diamond City) and 2315 (Salem) awards. Other top contenders include Morris; SP Hyand Lowe, Lexington; SP Aaron Noluh of the Synths; and Bunker Hill's SP Sug Sakamoto. CF Missile Crews of FHE is picked to win his first SCA Nuka Hitter Award in 2319. He was the 2314 runner-up to Enigma Montgomery (2314, 2315), who is 9th on this season's list. Other top contenders include 2B Odd Todd Walker, Roxbury; RF Bix Bimbleman of the Sox; C Phantom Vargas, Vault 81; and Egret's CF A-Train Gilmore. The SCA's race for the 2319 Vim! Pitcher Award is loaded with great pitchers. The person expected to finish at the top of the heap is Diamond City's Macho Lopez, the 2315 winner. Other top contenders include SP Alex Language (2317), Glowing Sea; SP Make Money, Jamaica Plain; and Spectacle Island's SP Aqua Purified and SP Meribrand Docybuck. April 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 21 April 2319 CBO Off to an Explosive Start The 2319 season is off to a great start as the 28 teams are battling for success. Only one team--University Point (we will feature them later)--seems to be a team out of the race early with a 1-12 mark. Three SCA teams--Glowing Sea, Goodneighbor, and Vault 81--are tied for the CBO's top record at 10-3. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Vault 81 Dwellers (148.4, ++) 2) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (143.4, -) 3) Goodneighbor Hancocks (143.4, o) 4) Easy Town Assaultrons (129.6, -) 5) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (127.6, +) 6) Cambridge Coursers (115.7, ++) 7) Salem Witch Hats (115.7, ++) 8) Concord Radstags (113.7, -) 9) The Slog Ghouls (113.7, --) 10) Diamond City Swatters (109.7, -) 11) Egret Ninjas (100.8, o) 12) Lexington Synths (97.8, ++) 13) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (96.8, --) 14) Nahant Celtics (94.8, --) 15) Atom Cats (84.2, ++) 16) County Crossing Bloodbugs (84.2, o) 17) Roxbury Rad Sox (84.2, o) 18) Spectacle Island Reapers (81.2, o) 19) Quincy Granites (80.2, --) 20) Malden Grognaks (68.3, o) 21) Southie Brews (67.3, +) 22) Oberland T-51s (65.3, -) 23) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (53.4, ++) 24) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (52.4, ++) 25) Bunker Hill 75ers (49.4, --) 26) FHE Yao Guai (48.4, -) 27) Starlight Killers (48.4, --) 28) University Point Deathclaws (2.9, o) Brotherhood League Easy Town is on top of the NCA and BL with a 9-4 record. We had not featured that the Trons made a late uniform change, debuting on Opening Day their new threads, joining league mates The Slog in 2319. Speaking of the Ghouls, they are a game back along with Salem. Nahant is in 4th, followed by a game trailing of each other in County Crossing, Malden, and Nordhagen Beach. Looking at the Assaultrons, they are3 considered the top team in talent in the NCA and maybe even the CBO. And they are playing like it. Easy Town is 2nd in runs scored (78) and tied for 3rd in runs allowed (54). The usual suspects are leading the way with C Bill Barnes (.244/3/13) last in average in the starting lineup but tied for the homers lead and leading the team in RBI. JJ Gray (.392/3/11) is the team leader in average, while Eden Babz (.340/1/6/6 SB) leads in steals. On the mound, the starters have been excellent, currently 3rd in ERA (3.74). Ace Cutter Redman (2-0, 0.99) has absolutely dominated in his four starts, leading the NCA in five categories, including ERA. Institute League The C's are in charge in the IL, with Cambridge and Concord knotted at 8-5. Fort Hagen and Lexington are each a game back, while all of Bunker Hill, Starlight, and Sunshine Tidings are four back of 1st place. The Killers have playoff dreams but have struggled early, including dropping their last three. After winning the IL, they hope to do much better than their current 4-9 record shows. Starlight is 14th in runs scored (47) despite being 8th in average (.265). Almost as bad, the pitching is 12th i runs allowed (75). The offense is not hitting homers, currently 14th (8) with CF Henry Hampster (.286/2/6) the only player with multiple homers in a homerun-friendly park. For pitching, two of their top pitchers--SP Sturdy Woodman (no starts) and CL Tenacious Jenkins (0-1, 0 SV, 3.38)--are out for a period of time. Ace Mercury Morris (1-1. 3.60), the 2318 Vim! Pitcher Award winner, will need to dominate more. Minutemen League Goodneighbor is alone in 1st place with the favorites, Jamaica Plain just a game back. Atom, Quincy, and Spectacle Island are all tied for 3rd at a game under .500. Southie trails them by a game, and the Deathclaws are alone in last place in the CBO, three back of the next worst team. The Claws have not recovered from their star veterans aging out. Now, with an all-20s team, basically, they are not prepared to win. What's worse, is that, with their current roster, only five players have the scouts' seal of approval as CBO-quality "winning" players. One of those players is SS Rock Rampage (.217/0/7), batting cleanup. University Point also lost star LF Pop Dylan (.429/1/2) in the second game of the season. He will probably not return in 2319. SP Plummy Westing (1-1, 0.39) has been a pleasant surprise early, but those numbers will not hold. C McCall Homealone (.361/2/2) may be the only player worth anything by season's end. Folks, we are probably looking at the worst team in the history of the CBO. That .077 winning percentage may get into the .100s but not likely to get into the .200s. A .150 finish would mean about a 20-110 season. The lowest winning percentage in a season, .231, is held by Oberland (2302) and matched by Cambridge (2310). For the Coursers, that was their first season, a 30-100 record. Railroad League This league may be a fight. As mentioned in the intro, both the Radscorpions and Dwellers are atop the league with Vault 81 getting the nod in the Power Rankings. The defending champions, Diamond City, are two back, followed in one-game order by Egret, Roxbury, Oberland, and FHE. The Scorpions are looking to make a comeback after finishing two games under .500 and out of the playoffs in 2319. We are featuring them because we are not so sure that they can maintain this pace, while the Dwellers are more likely to. For Glowing Sea, offense has been good, 5th in runs scored (65) and 2nd in average (.295). But the pitching has been great: 1st in runs allowed (40) and 2nd in Starters ERA (2.99). 2B Stud Colgan (.400/4/12) leads in all three team Triple Crown categories, with vets Enigma Montgomery (.386/0/3) and Stormin Normin MacDonald (.349/2/8) contributing. On the mound, three of the four starters have an ERA below 3.50, led by Hot Lips Houlihan (3-0, 1.17). The most surprising of the group not to have a low ERA is Alex Language (2-1, 4.31) whose career ERA is below 3.50 (3.44, including this season so far). He led the SCA in ERA in 2316 (2.13) and 2317 (2.79) and won the Vim! Pitcher Award in 2317. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 14 - Lexington fans have something to crow about today as Lexington left fielder Dude Lebowski nabbed the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Lebowski. He posted a .433 average (13-for-30) this past week with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs, and 8 runs scored. When it came to hitting the baseball, Grayson Caps had few peers in the South Charles Association this past week. The talented shortstop for Oberland tagged opposing pitchers for a .462 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 12 hits in 26 at-bats, 3 homers, 5 runs scored and 10 RBIs. April 21 - At the age of 27, Innis Sark might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Fort Hagen left fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .435 batting average. For his efforts Sark collected the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award. He racked up 10 hits in 23 at-bats, 4 home runs and 6 RBIs last week in 6 games. It was an extraordinary week for Pockets Wrench of the Vault 81 Dwellers. First he goes on a hot hitting streak, batting .591, then he is voted the Player of the Week in the South Charles Association. Last week Wrench went 13-for-22, racked up 4 home runs and 6 RBIs and scored 9 runs. It was a heck of a week for the Vault 81 right fielder. CBO Noteworthy News April 7 - The season is about to start, so it's time to publish the annual BNN Top 100 Prospects list. This year, 20 year-old C Peter Krenwinkel of the Bunker Hill 75ers is the #1 prospect overall. Here is the top 10: 1) C Peter Krenwinkel, 20, Bunker Hill 75ers 2) LHP Arcade Anderson, 21, Quincy Granites 3) CF Walker Cress, 19, Concord Radstags 4) C Sash Minakir, 22, Roxbury Rad Sox 5) LHP Eye Anson, 21, Nordhagen Beach Party Boys 6) C Rad Malina, 19, Glowing Sea Radscorpions 7) LHP Stlee Jensen, 22, Easy Town Assaultrons 8) SS Qing Baker, 19, University Point Deathclaws 9) 1B Bear Jones, 21, County Crossing Bloodbugs 10) LHP Eagle Eye Hayes, 18, Bunker Hill 75ers April 7 - The Slog debuted their new uniforms in the regular season, but there was a surprise as Easy Town also showed up in new uniforms to play at the Ghouls. While both teams have maintained their base colors, the uniforms are much more modern than their old ones that have been used since 2316. Every team in the BL has now changed their uniforms since 2296. Concord, Fort Hagen, and Lexington in the IL; Atom in the ML; and Diamond City, Oberland, and Vault 81 of the RL are the only teams maintaining the same look since 2296. April 8 - Diamond Ball's disrobing act in yesterday's loss to the Lexington Synths at Hubris Comics Park cost him a 2-game suspension. The league office informed the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud today that their third baseman would be suspended for "his poor conduct and unacceptable behavior that made a farce out of the game." After being called out on strikes, Ball was ejected by the home plate umpire after a heated and animated discussion. In protest for the ejection, he proceeded to throw his bat down, take off his batting gloves, cap, shirt, socks and shoes and left them at home plate, refusing to pick them up. Asked about the suspension, Ball sheepishly told reporters, "I did a stupid and embarrassing thing. Let's just leave it at that." April 9 - The latest news from the Starlight Killers clubhouse is this: closer Tenacious Jenkins is expected to be out of action for another 7 weeks. He has acute elbow soreness, sustained on 04/07/2319. Jenkins expressed a bit of relief. "At least now I know," he said. April 11 - Pop Dylan could soon be placed on the injured list. The University Point left fielder told reporters that he expects to be "out of commission" for 4 months because of a broken kneecap. He hasn't played since 04/08/2319 and, he said, he's "itchin' to get back out there." April 12 - The Bloodbugs and Brews pulled the trigger on a deal that will see 30-year old 2B Yoink Yukon head to Southie in exchange for 24-year old minor league 1B Bosko Anastasijevic, 22-year old RHP USA Prinwick, 23-year old minor league RF Jimmie Dimmick, and 21-year old minor league 2B Backboard Betts. A source close to County Crossing officials said, "The teams spent long hours coming to the agreement and in the end, both agreed the deal should help both clubs." This season, Yukon is batting at a .500 clip with no home runs and 2 RBIs. April 15 - Bry McBourbon of the Salem Witch Hats has officially confirmed reports that he will retire at the end of the season. The 38-year-old McBourbon has 509 appearances in his career. He has thrown 2668.1 innings with 1876 strikeouts and 1 save. His won-lost record is 148-166 and his ERA stands at 4.32. April 15 - Sources in Sunshine Tidings close to Major Tom Brennan report that the reliever will retire once the season is over. Brennan has allowed opponents a batting average of .276 throughout his career and he has rung up 2037 strikeouts in 2878.1 innings, while registering 2 saves in 551 games. His record is 141 wins-166 losses with a 4.73 ERA. April 16 - Hubert Cole, general manager of the Roxbury Rad Sox, has signed off on a trade for Jamaica Plain's 24-year old RF Glenn McBean. To complete the deal, the Rad Sox will send 31-year old RHP Freak Mouton to the Red Rockets. So far in his career, Mouton has collected 62 wins and 75 losses and has recorded an ERA of 4.93 and struck out 756 batters while pitching 1179 innings. So far this year, McBean has no home runs and a .154 batting average. CYL All-Star Game Fishheads Ballpark was the place to be for baseball fans tonight, as the best CYL players gathered for the annual all-star game. On the field, the South Region downed the North Region by a score of 5-4. Off the field, game MVP Julian Fisk said he thinks everyone had a good night. "You looked into the stands and it seemed like everyone was having a fantastic time," said the 16-year-old, who went 1-for-3 in the game. "A game like this is good for the sport." Fisk's all-time stats include: 99 hits, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 18 home runs and 63 RBIs in 104 games. He is batting .268 with 5 stolen bases and has scored 61 runs. It's that time of the season again, when the best of the best battle it out for Commonwealth Youth League bragging rights. Yes, it's time for the annual All-Star game! May 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 May 2319 The May 1 Super Post, Part 1 CBO Top Performances Hitting - It came on Opening Day, and it was the month's best performance. On April 7, Salem's Needham Tickler went off on Malden, scorching the Grognaks on a 3 for 5, 9 RBI day in the Witch Hats' 16-8 victory. Tickler was doubled with two on, hit a grand slam, and then hit a three-run homer to drive in his nine runs. He also scored four times. His nine RBI was a franchise single-game record. Pitching - One week after Opening day, the month's top pitching performance came through. Atom's Mesquite Williams accomplished that feat in a shutout victory, 1-0, over Southie. Williams pitched a complete-game two-hitter, walking four and striking out five in the process. CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - Innis Sark, the Fort Hagen left fielder, certainly made a name for himself this past month. He banged out a .321 batting average with 25 hits, 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 19 times. That kind of hitting earned him the North Charles Association Batter of the Month honors for April. SCA Hitter - Phantom Vargas battered South Charles Association pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 31-year-old Vargas told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 19 games, Vargas hit .394 with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs and scored 19 runs. NCA Pitcher - When Buzzcut McDonald takes the mound, a The Slog victory is usually the result. At least that's the way it was in April. He excelled with a 5-1 mark and a 2.45 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 44 innings, fanned 36 and held opposing batters to a .205 average. That's why the Ghouls starter was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the North Charles Association. SCA Pitcher - Veteran Hot Lips Houlihan put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Glowing Sea Radscorpions, earning himself the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month award. Houlihan racked up a 4-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 0.98 ERA over 36.2 innings and striking out 31. NCA Rookie - The premier rookie has been named for April -- and the winner is Talley O'Reilly. The North Charles Association awarded the trophy to him today in a press conference. It was his remarkable 3-2 mark that brought the Sunshine Tidings starter the Rookie of the Month award. O'Reilly excelled last month with a 3.15 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 40 innings, fanned 25 and held opposing hitters to a .263 average. SCA Rookie - Youngster Bix Bimbleman emerged as the latest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Roxbury deserved the honor, batting .362 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Bimbleman enjoy the limelight. NEBL Analysis The 2319 minor league seasons are underway, and the top minor league with CBO-quality players has been an exciting watch for which players will work their way up. Divisional leaders are: PL Stars - Manchester and Worcester PL Stripes - New haven YL Old Glory - Fall River YL USA - New Britain NEBL Players of the Month PL Hitter - At only 25 years of age, Kris McKenna could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the New Haven Champions, as April was one to remember for the center fielder and he has captured the Patriot League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .417 with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 20 runs scored. YL Hitter - Puny Merchant may be much younger than other hitters in the Yankee League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in April to win the Batter of the Month award. The 24-year-old New Bedford left fielder hit .342 with 6 home runs, 11 RBIs and 20 runs scored. PL Pitcher - Tullio Canarica of Manchester had an excellent April with a 3-0 record and was selected as the Pitcher of the Month in the Patriot League. He finished the month with a 0.53 ERA while piling up 26 strikeouts in 34 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .157 batting average. YL Pitcher - Bohan Omeragic was the best pitcher in April according to the voters. He severely shut down opposition batters to win the Yankee League Pitcher of the Month Award. Fall River's star reliever compiled a 2-0 mark and an ERA of 1.08 in 16.2 innings with 12 strikeouts and 9 saves in 10 save opportunities. MML Analysis The Massachusetts Minor League is 22 games into the 2319 season. This league is where the younger but nearly ready players get to show off their skills. Some of the players here will be on the CBO expanded 40-man roster later this season, while many will need a little more experience before they are ready for the big time. Division leaders are: LL Boggs - Everett LL Murtagh - Chicopee, Methuen, and Waltham SL Williams - Marshfield SL Yastrzemski - Middletown MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Jim Szewczyk certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the LL Batter of the Month award for April. The 27-year-old second baseman for the Arlington Caps hit .351 with 8 home runs, 17 RBIs and 12 runs scored. SL Hitter - Ewald Kujawa has a lot going for him. The East Providence center fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the Stars League has just picked him as its top hitter for April. In 20 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .412 with 9 home runs, 19 RBIs and 22 runs scored. LL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award has been picked and the Legends League victor is Brookline relief ace, Espen Nygaard. For his solid outings in April he has been named the league's premier pitcher. During the month, the Bandoliers star had 7 saves in 7 save opportunities, a 0.00 ERA and 1 win and no losses. In 10.2 innings Nygaard struck out 9 and gave up 4 hits and 0 walks. SL Pitcher - Richard Cowboy of Middletown excelled on the mound in April with a 4-0 record and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the Stars League. Cowboy restricted opposing batters to 27 base hits and a .229 batting average. He rang up 26 strikeouts in 33.2 innings of work, surrendered 10 walks, and fashioned a 1.60 ERA. BMU Analysis The lower-level leagues, starting with the Boston Minor Union, are for younger players who either do not have the talent to move up or rookies (mostly college-drafted) who need to hone their skills before competing at higher levels. Division leaders are: CA Dark Hollow Pond - South Portland CA Cambridge - Greenfield MA Downtown Boston - Cumberland and Mass Pike MA Glowing Sea - Shelton, Southington, and Westfield BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 22 Fuzz Copman has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Brunswick Brainiacs star can enjoy the numbers he put up in April, which have garnered him the nod as the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .382 average with 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 9 runs scored. MA Hitter - When Chimo Gaspar stepped up to the plate in April he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month award. The young Southington right fielder posted a .394 batting average with 6 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 13 runs. Gaspar also worked pitchers for 6 walks to post a .438 on-base percentage. CA Pitcher - Swoop Gommering was firing on all cylinders in the month of April with 3 wins as he steamrolled all Commonwealth Association opposition on his way to the Pitcher of the Month award. During the month Gommering was 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA. He made 4 starts, tossed 27 innings and had 19 strikeouts. MA Pitcher - The Massachusetts Association scribes have picked April's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to Kaiden Savage of Foxborough. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 4-0 mark. The Minutemen star hurler made 4 starts with a 0.72 ERA and surrendered 11 hits in 25 innings. He struck out 15 and walked 9. GBRL Analysis Finally, there is the Greater Boston Rookie League where players 16-22 get an opportunity much like the BMU to hone skills are show that they are not throwaway players. Many of the top players here are the youth league players looking to develop both their bodies and skills. Division leaders are: HL Danse - Covenant HL Howard - Abernathy SL Garvey - Mayoral Shelter SL Desdemona - Amherst, Nuka Express, and Somerville Place GBRL Players of the Month HL Hitter - Coastal Cottage Buds fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in April. Catty Chad McKinney put up a remarkable month at the age of 19 and has been named the Heroes League Batter of the Month. For the month, McKinney hit .403 with 6 home runs, 23 RBIs and 15 runs scored. SL Hitter - Piedmont Marsh made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Saviors League this past month. The Mystic Pines Raybathers center fielder shined through the month of April and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 19-year-old hit .408 with 7 home runs, 24 RBIs and 17 runs scored. HL Pitcher - The #1 pitcher this past month in the Heroes League was Ernie Maxload of the Haverhill Grooms. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing April with a superb 3-0 record and a 1.29 ERA. The Grooms star made 4 starts and surrendered 20 hits in 28 innings. He struck out 19 and walked 7. PL Pitcher - When Mayoral Shelter relief specialist James Docherty came into the game, it was as good as over. For his great month of April he was named the Saviors League Pitcher of the Month. Docherty posted a 4-0 mark and a 2.60 ERA in 8 relief appearances. In 17.1 innings, he allowed 21 hits, totaled no saves with 16 strikeouts and 10 walks.

Here is the Top 25: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) UMass-Dartmouth Corsairs (145.0, o) 2) Saint Anselm College Hawks (137.1, +) 3) Bentley Falcons (133.0, -) 4) New Haven Chargers (131.0, +) 5) Vermont Tech Maples (131.0, +) 6) Brown Bears (129.0, ++) 7) CIT Engineers (120.0, ++) 8) Sturbridge Mighty Men (120.0, ++) 9) Elms College Blazers (119.9, ++) 10) Narragansett Tide (118.9, o) 11) Nuka University Mixologists (118.0, ++) 12) Southern Maine Whalers (118.0, ++) 13) Salem State Vikings (116.9, --) 14) Hellenic American Greeks (116.0, ++) 15) Acadia College Minks (115.0, -) 16) Commonwealth University Terriers (115.0, ++) 17) Framingham State Rams (114.9, --) 18) Maine Maritime Mariners (113.0, --) 19) Holy Cross Crusaders (112.0, --) 20) Albertus Magnus Falcons (111.0, +) 21) Providence Friars (111.0, ++) 22) Maine-Presque Isle Owls (110.0, ++) 23) Dartmouth Big Green (109.0, --) 24) Worcester State Lancers (109.0, --) 25) Emerson Lions (108.1, ++) CCBL Players of the Month Hitter - Saint Anselm College Hawks fans believe they've got a talented young star in JaRussell Marcus. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in April, as he hit .446 with 14 home runs, 29 RBIs and 35 runs scored. The end result was the first baseman being named the Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League Batter of the Month. This season, Marcus is batting .448 with 73 hits, 27 home runs, 58 RBIs, .563 OBP and has scored 57 runs. Marcus has also surpassed Hulk Seeply (Harvard, 2309-2311) as the all-time homers leader with 84. Pitcher - The Commonwealth Collegiate Baseball League announced today that Mongo Lueger has been chosen the league's Pitcher of the Month. The Lesley starter had everything working for him last month as he glided to a 7-2 record. In April Lueger chalked up a 1.01 ERA in 71 innings with 61 strikeouts and 7 walks. This year, Lueger has fanned 108 in 125.1 innings and collected a 11-3 record with a 1.65 ERA. CYL Analysis There are 12 games remaining on the 2319 season, and every team is still mathematically alive for the playoffs. The top teams in each region are the CIT Academy Yahoos (NR) and the New Bedford Whales (SR). CYL Players of the Month NR Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Liach Earthquake set the league afire in April and took home the North Region Batter of the Month award. The CIT Academy second baseman posted a steady .386 batting average, 13 home runs, 35 RBIs and 30 runs. Earthquake is currently hitting .341 with 18 home runsand 45 RBIs, while scoring 39 runs. SR Hitter - Acrobat Magee put together a good April to earn the South Region Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Weymouth officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Locksmiths first baseman posted a .383 batting average with 14 home runs, 35 RBIs and 25 runs scored. This year, Magee is hitting .347 with 20 home runs and 47 RBIs in 35 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .494 with 33 walks and 38 runs scored. NR Pitcher - Coke Nut Silivan of the Newburyport Cubs was on top of his game the entire month of April, capping it off with the North Region Pitcher of the Month honors. He was outstanding in 8 starts with 8 wins and no losses, 53.2 IP, 72 strikeouts and a fine 1.51 ERA. Over the season Silivan has thrown 87.1 innings and dished out 115 strikeouts with a 8-1 mark and a 1.55 ERA. SR Pitcher - Justin Nightwatch of Bridgewater had an award-winning April as he took home the South Region Pitcher of the Month award. "He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Nightwatch's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in April except for Justin." Nightwatch was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 6-0 record in 8 starts. He struck out 84 batters in 61 innings and kept opponents to a .187 batting average. This season, Nightwatch has compiled a 9-0 mark with a 0.86 ERA in 12 starts.

Excited for another season and great start to the season for the Radscorpions! They might be in the toughest division and end up on the outside, but love seeing them get off to a hot start. Never managed to add much depth and you really have to hope everything works. Sad to see Araki on the bench but if it helps them win let it happen. I've also had trouble passing up a good slice of pie...

I had not really noticed that, but there must be something else going on. I guess it is time to put Arakaki on the trading block. I also just noticed that a different good team cut a 2318 All-Star pitcher just because he is off to a terrible start. I checked in the editor to see if I know why. I know why . . . *which leads to Arakaki. I know why he is benched, and it has nothing to do with his current ratings. Dude is about to fall out of CBO-level abilities at 26. I hate that for a #2 overall pick. Of course, I checked in on the #1 overalls, too. A few of them never came anywhere close to being CBO-ready. Back to Arakaki (edited in because I forgot). I wonder if any other team knows he is about to have a ratings drop, as in, it is the system's response to bench/cut falling ratings players and other teams will not value that trae because they also see future ratings.

May 2319
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 5 May 2319 Glowing Sea Alone On Top We are now four weeks in to the 2319 season, and the Glowing Sea Radscorpions have emerged as the top team in the CBO with an 18-8 record. They are two games up on four other teams, including two from the Railroad League. University Point and Oberland are tied for the CBO's worst record at 8-18. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (129.6, +) 2) Egret Ninjas (120.7, ++) 3) Diamond City Swatters (115.7, +) 4) Easy Town Assaultrons (109.7, +) 5) Goodneighbor Hancocks (109.7, --) 6) Lexington Synths (106.9, +) 7) Atom Cats (104.9, ++) 8) The Slog Ghouls (104.9, +) 9) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (97.8, --) 10) Nahant Celtics (97.8, ++) 11) Vault 81 Dwellers (96.9, --) 12) Salem Witch Hats (95.8, ++) 13) FHE Yao Guai (95.0, ++) 14) Roxbury Rad Sox (93.0, -) 15) Southie Brews (93.0, ++) 16) Bunker Hill 75ers (91.2, ++) 17) Quincy Granites (90.0, --) 18) Cambridge Coursers (87.0, --) 19) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (87.0, --) 20) Malden Grognaks (84.2, +) 21) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (77.1, --) 22) Spectacle Island Reapers (73.1, ++) 23) Concord Radstags (67.1, --) 24) County Crossing Bloodbugs (66.3, -) 25) Starlight Killers (66.3, +) 26) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (61.3, o) 27) University Point Deathclaws (57.4, +) 28) Oberland T-51s (39.4, --) Brotherhood League Easy Town possesses both the BL's and NCA's top record at 16-10. The Slog trails them by a game, followed by Nahant and Salem tied for 3rd at two back. Malden is in 5th at two games under .500, followed by County Crossing and Nordhagen Beach. The Grognaks had been riding high, first making the playoffs in 2315 and then making it the next two seasons before losing the play-in game in 2318. This season, they cannot seem to find their winning ways and may find themselves falling too far behind to compete. Malden is 10th in runs scored (113) in the NCA and 3rd in runs allowed (112), showing that offensive production has been the problem. One player not seeming to struggle is SS Jack of Diamonds Cordero (.344/2/12). 3B Jacob Tarberry (.244/5/10) is still belting home runs, but he is far below his career average (.311) and far below his RBI pace to match the 106 he drove in last season. On the mound, ace Hry Caje (2-2, 2.81) has been the best, while CL Rump Pellstilt (4 SV, 0.00) is handling business in save opportunities. Institute League Lexington is holding on to a slight lead in the tightest league in the CBO with all teams within five games of 1st place. Following the Synths are Fort Hagen, Cambridge, and Bunker Hill. Concord and Sunshine Tidings are tied for 5th, while Starlight is in 7th with a 10-16 record. Winning has not always been a part of the Synths' legacy, missing the playoffs each of the first CBO's official first 15 seasons (2298-2312) before making it five of the past six seasons (all but 2316) with three league titles in that stretch and a Sole Survivor Series appearance in 2315. This 2319 squad looks as though they can again battle for a title, including ranking 5th in runs scored (134) and 2nd in runs allowed (111). CF Dude Lebowski (.379/4/14) appears to be an MVP candidate. 3B Tommy Whitetiger (.283/3/12) has been great support. For starting pitching, the Synths surprisingly cut 2318 All-Star pitcher Admiral Kelm (1-4, 7.99) after a poor start and brough back in 39-year-old veteran Deedee Martinson (1-1, 2.89) as a starter. CL Hunter Kim (7 SV, 2.08) is teid for 2nd in the NCA in saves. Minutemen League Goodneighbor has a one-game lead for the ML lead over the up-and-down Atom Cats. Three teams are tied for 3rd at .500: Jamaica Plain, Quincy, and Southie. Spectacle Island is in 6th, and the Deathclaws, playing much better ball since we doomed them into the worst team ever status, is in 7th place. The Hancocks have not reached the playoffs since 2312 and it was their only appearance since a three-year run from 2298-2300, including a Sole Survivor Series title. One major aspect of their inability to rise up from the ashes has been impatience with their emerging young players. That ide may be changing with current stars and emerging players such as Derek Cureall (2317 1st Rd), Cajun Darri (2315 1st Rd), and Zed Zded (2311 1st Rd). Goodneighbor also seems to have its best all-around team in many years with few true holes, though the bullpen could be a bit of a concern, currently 11th in ERA (4.34). The offense is 5th in scoring (125), led by RF Wind Dale Davis (.324/7/21), 1B Zded (.275/5/16), and C Crass Brad Crusty (.352/3/10). CF Cureall (9) and LF Thrifty Iraheta (8) lead the team in steals. On the mound, three starters lead the team 8th in runs allowed (116) with an ERA below 4.00: Emperry Alizm (3-3, 3.45), Jared Porch (5-1, 3.97), and Jules Alder (2-1, 3.44). CL Eerie Foucher (7 SV, 2.92) has been one of the more solid bullpen pitchers. Railroad League The Radscorpions are the current kings in a league where staying healthy may mean great things. Diamond City and Egret are tied for 2nd, two games back of the Scorpions. Vault 81 is the last team over .500 at 15-11. In 5th place, FHE and Roxbury are both at .500, while the T-51s are tied with the Claws for the CBO's worst record. Oberland was a staple in the playoffs, making it every year from 2307-2314 and again in 2316 before missing the last two seasons, including dropping to 7th place in the RL in 2318. While more talented in University Point, this team has shown little fight into trying to pull themselves back up in the competition. With an aging owner in August Oberland and a stagnant settlement population, the T-51s are not showing much hope in progressing. The offense is 12th in runs scored (104) with no players batting over .300. RF Sascha Foss (.287/2/15/3 SB) leads the team in both batting average and stolen bases, the nine of the latter stat representing the worst in baseball. SS Grayson Caps (.263/4/19) leads the T-51s in RBI and is tied with 1B Fab Ringo (.270/4/10) for the home runs lead. Pitching is 14th in runs allowed (147) with ace Sarthis Idren (2-2, 3.63) the only starter pitching decently. CL Wunmore Tomorrow (3 SV, 3.24) is doing what he can in a terrible bullpen. This team may need to start offloading veterans to pull in some younger talent. But we cannot tell you who is desirable from this team. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 28 - One of the league's most exciting young players, Halep Gutteridge of the Easy Town Assaultrons earned himself North Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 25-year-old third baseman had a lofty .417 average (10-for-24), collecting 1 home run, 9 RBIs and 5 runs scored. This year, Gutteridge is batting .388 with 2 home runs and 17 RBIs. Egret fans have something to crow about today as Egret third baseman Shane Powers nabbed the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Powers. He posted a .500 average (12-for-24) this past week with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs, and 4 runs scored. Looking at his season stats, Powers has compiled a .361 batting average and a .420 on-base percentage, while hitting 3 home runs and driving in 18 runs. May 5 - The Slog fans have something to crow about today as The Slog third baseman Zap Mast nabbed the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Mast. He posted a .542 average (13-for-24) this past week with 2 home runs, 3 RBIs, and 8 runs scored. Thus far this season, Mast is hitting .414 with 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has 41 hits in 99 at-bats and has played in 25 games. When it came to hitting the baseball, Brass Well had few peers in the South Charles Association this past week. The talented shortstop for FHE tagged opposing pitchers for a .591 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 13 hits in 22 at-bats, 2 homers, 7 runs scored and 8 RBIs. Well is currently hitting at a .340 pace with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and has scored 17 times. CBO Noteworthy News April 24 - Obviously disappointed, Hammer Longball confirmed today that his season is officially over. The The Slog right fielder offered mostly monosyllabic responses to reporters. "Nope," he said, when asked if he might possibly return this year. The 25-year-old Longball suffered a ruptured achilles tendon on 04/21/2319 and has been out of action since. Longball is currently hitting at a .235 pace with 1 home run, 2 RBIs and has scored 1 times. May 1 - You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Glowing Sea and Quincy have made a swap with 23-year old minor league LHP Gumbo Le Troutstain being shipped to the Granites and in return the Radscorpions would get 26-year old minor league RHP Big Lee Smith. Glowing Sea general manager Lank Chembaker said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction. "This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines." A source inside the Glowing Sea organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works. During his career, Le Troutstain has converted 22 saves with a 2.33 ERA. In 65 games, he has a 4-2 won-lost mark with 62 strikeouts in 65.2 innings. May 1 - Beachboy Nut is hanging up his spikes at the end of the season. Nut, a 41-year-old veteran, told the Diamond City Swatters that he will be retiring. "I loved playing a kid's game and getting paid well to do it. I loved the travel and the attention ballplayers get," he said. "But, what I'm really going to miss are a lot of the little things that go on behind the scenes. I'm going to miss playing on perfectly mowed grass each day. That's our stage, and a bunch of anonymous groundskeepers made that happen each week." The native of Winthrop, Massachusetts showed an obvious love for the game as he reflected on the sport. "My bat representative ... I would talk to him and next thing I'd have brand new bats. I loved the perfectly straight chalk lines, the echoes from the PA system, and even the umps." Thus far in his career, Nut has worked 4484.1 innings with 3399 strikeouts en route to a 301-166 record. The 41-year-old also has a 3.17 ERA. May 2 - The Baseball News Network is reporting that Nordhagen Beach and Cambridge have agreed in principle to a swap that will send 24-year old minor league RHP Toon Alljet to the Coursers with 26-year old minor league 2B Marc Ronholt joining the Party Boys. Nordhagen Beach general manager Marco Pacheco would not confirm the trade, but a team representative close to the negotiations said the deal is official and is now only awaiting approval from the league. May 3 - The league commissioner's office has notified the Lexington Synths that center fielder Packs Ton Kling has been given a 4-game suspension for his involvement in an incident with the home plate umpire in yesterday's Lexington-Starlight game at Valentine Detective Agency Field. After being called out on a pitch that he deemed a ball, Kling aggressively expressed his displeasure and was promptly ejected from the game. In the league suspension notice, it stated that he was suspended for making an obscene gesture toward the umpires prior to entering the dugout. The league said that type of behavior would not be tolerated. Kling and the Synths were unavailable for comment. So far this season, Kling is hitting .270 with 3 home runs. May 4 - Mike Searocker had hoped for the best, but expected the worst. Today, he learned from the Egret medical staff that he would miss the rest of the season. The Egret starting pitcher suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow in an earlier ballgame. He admitted to being discouraged, but said he plans to come back strong next year. This season, Searocker has compiled a 0-3 mark with a 6.87 ERA. Searocker was the 2318 Vim! Pitcher Award winner.

Happy to see the Radscopions on top! The pitching looks amazing even without Language pitching like he has. Hard to lose when the other team doesn't score! Another big retirement with Beachboy Nut! Is he the only 300 game winner? |

In this last hoorah, we let the assaultron PAM choose our league winners one last time. In PAM's calculations, the final Nuka Series will see the Wild Gatorclaws facing the Chery Ghoulrillas. The Gatorclaws are picked to edge the Victory Cace Crickets by two games in the battle for both the North Bradberton Division crown and the NWL's top record. Wild is seeking just its third Nuka Series appearance all-time. In the South Bradberton Division, the Ghoulrillas are picked to finish tied with Quartz but win the tebreaker due to run differential. Orange is picked to finish one back of both of them, showing that this division may be a nice, tight race for runners-up in the Nuka Series. For Cherry, they are seeking their 11th Nuka Series appearance. They are already the all-time leaders in appearances (10) and titles (5). In the race for the top players in the NWL, PAM thinks that Orange's 1B Yorkie Tallsky is the predicted winner for the Nuka King Award. Other contenders are CF Boryslaw Skiba of Wild, Victory's CF Allen Capone and LF Lip Durocher, and Quartz's LF Ness Ninten. Last year's winner was Dark's Holotta Shaken. The Nuka Cannon Award favorite is the Cave Crickets' SP Lefty Alvarez. Other contenders are Cherry's Guy Tarr, Grape's Bobby Denman, the Tourists' Darma Mollema, and the Painted Ghouls' Jayden Jarmon. The 2319 (and 2318) winner was Kory DiLeva of Grape. ---------------------------------------------------------- Vim! View News of the Vim! League and Its Affiliates by Jimmy Gresham 5 May 2319 Vim!
