The final plaque looks excellent, should be a great addition.

Those are awesome!

Matt can create a hall of fame forum and each player can have his own thread.
Or at least that is what I would do

I'm doing Whisky Allen next, since he's the only other HOFer I know of who already has a HOF plaque...I'll then do it by HOF standard.

IOW, The Prof has a ways to go, to say the least lol.

100%... arghhh....

DY, the text says Lee won "over" 400 games... He won exactly 400. That should be changed, but otherwise looks great.

Hm, how the heck did I get that wrong? I'll change it to "only man to win 400."

Frank Smith won 427... Lee was the "first" to win 400 though.

Yes, I knew that. I was going under the assumption that when Lee was inducted, Smith had not yet won his 400th. I just checked, and that turns out not to be true.

I was going for the outdated-now-but-true-at-the-time type of thing you see on some plaques. I'll stick with 'first,' since now I see that Smith won his 400th a few year before Dodge was inducted.

PS: Frank Smith won 446, not 427.

OK, here's the edited version. I did a stupid thing with the text (rasterized it) so I couldn't really edit it, I just cut out the word 'over.' Still works. Matt, could you make a thread in the HOF section to post these? Once you post it, we'll call that player done, and we can move on to the next one. We need your stamp of approval first.

If I may make a suggestion.
I would create a new forum called 'cooperstown'
I would start a thread for each HOF player and then lock that thread.
Then I would place the plaque in that thread and have a link to the players html page.
Then if anyone wants to add like a newspaper or bio of that player they can submit it to Matt and he can add it.

Maybe after a while we can have little bios and stories on all the HOF players.

Just a thought

OK, here's my first mockup of Whiskey Allen. It's just too damn time consuming to copy and past individual letters from other plaques, since not only do you have to do it one at a time, but each letter also has a slightly different color and background, so it takes for-freaking-ever to clean that up. I went with just using text this time around. Whatta you think? Please, all suggestions and criticism is welcome.

Ok, well I've been trying tons of techniques to try to turn regular pitcures into looking somewhat like etchings. Now there is no way to make it look really real, since I simply lack the skills. But here is where I'm at so far. It's Murph, and though it looks strange, I'm think I'm on the right path. Please give me any thoughts, suggestions, criticisms you can. It'll only make me better at this.

EDIT: Slightly changed the picture, adding some contour to his mouth. I actually think this looks pretty good. Sorry if I'm sounding a little boastful through all this, but you have to understand I have 0 artistic skills, so this is much better than I thought I was really capable of.

Ok, one more before I go to bed. Here's the Murphy etching placed onto a Plaque. How's it look? I know the colors aren't perfectly blended, but that's really hard to do. I'll work on it more tomorrow, but it's 2:30 AM right now, and I have school tomorrow.

I actually like the former than the latter. It's already good.

I've been working on this, too. I've found that for each player, the adjustment is different. In PSP (I'm assuming Photoshop has the same feature) I was able to add an adjustment layer called "curves". Within that, you can adjust RGB, R, G, and B levels to make each of those brighter or darker as needed. The best thing I found to do was take an RGB value of the lightest color I'm looking for and one for the darkest. Then take the same readings from the image I've currently got. Using the curves layer, I was able to adjust it so I had approximately appropriate ranges in the new image. The thing is, the curves are different for each image since the color ranges of the player pics aren't consisitent.

Yuck
The bronzed ones look alot better than this. Unless I am missing something.

They already look really good, don't try and overwork it
