Vanderbilt Commodores Win Again to Extend Streak to 15 Straight:
NCAA has the nation's attention right now, and all eyes are on the Vanderbilt Commodores. The club has been red hot, and has now reeled off 15 consecutive wins. The Commodores have been doing everything right and not surprisingly, both the local and national interest in the team has ratcheted up as they have extended their win streak. "It's a lot of fun coming to the ballpark right now," said Tommy de la Cruz. |

LaRoche Slugs 300th Home Run:
It was a historic day for Wisconsin's fine first baseman Adam LaRoche. He slammed home run number 300 in the Badgers 6-5 loss to the Memphis Tigers at Badger Park. He told reporters after the game that he was disappointed in losing the game. "It's great to get that many homers, but I don't play for homers -- I play to win. That's the name of the game." In his milestone-making game LaRoche went 4 for 4, scored 1 run and collected 2 runs batted in. That home run put him in a select group of ballplayers. For his career LaRoche has hit at a .252 clip. Among his lifetime numbers are 950 hits, 148 doubles, 3 triples, 300 home runs and 712 RBIs. |

Frankie Frisch Hits #300:
It's official. Frankie Frisch of the Marshall Thundering Herd hit his 300th home run tonight. The Marshall Thundering Herd took on the Portland State Vikings and downed them 8-4, but the big story of the night was the milestone home run for Frisch. He rounded the bases with a smile and politely stepped on home plate and walked back to the dugout. "300 is a big number, and I am thankful for the ability to get to this milestone. But it's all about the team today, my accomplishments are just one piece to the Thundering Herd puzzle." The Thundering Herd second baseman went 1-for-4 with 1 home run and 1 RBI as the Marshall Thundering Herd topped the Portland State Vikings. In his 967-game career Frisch is batting .325 with 207 doubles, 29 triples, 300 home runs and 743 RBIs. He has stolen 178 bases and scored 779 times. |

Crawford Stretches Hit String to 25:
Win or lose, Carl Crawford just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 1 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 25 games. The Clemson Tigers left fielder went 1-for-4 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 3-2 by the Marquette Golden Eagles at Warrior Field. Hamilton Wallops #400:
Back-back-back-gone! Josh Hamilton hit his 400th home run tonight against the Washington Huskies. Hamilton, of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, smiled as he rounded all the bases and got mobbed by his teammates at home plate. The game did stop momentarily as the Scarlet Knights celebrated this accomplishment. "I was swinging for the fences and the pitch looked like a giant grape fruit," Hamilton said. "This is another check off my bucket list. I'll now be setting my sights the next milestone." The Scarlet Knights left fielder went 1 for 4 with 1 home run and 1 RBI as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights won 4-3 over the Washington Huskies. Waner Hits for the Cycle:
Paul Waner truly did it all at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park today. The Cal State Fullerton Titans right fielder hit for the cycle -- collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run -- as he paced his club to victory, 12-11 over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. "You know that sweet sound you hear when you hit the ball just right? I heard that every time today," Waner said later. "It was a heck of a feeling." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Texas Tech pitching for 4 hits in 5 at-bats and his name will now go into the record books. Waner also racked up 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored in the game. Paul Waner doubled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Matt Boyd in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. Waner is currently batting .389 with 22 home runs and 62 RBIs. |

Shockers End Crawford's Streak:
Carl Crawford saw his 31-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Clemson Tigers win over Wichita State at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The 24-year-old left fielder was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Wichita State Shockers, but his teammates produced enough offense to take the game, 2-0. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Crawford told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 31 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good." This season Crawford has hit at a .345 clip with 34 RBIs, 16 home runs and 50 runs scored. He has played in 78 games. |

Number 300 for Robertson:
Auburn's 4-1 victory over Northern Iowa was highlighted by Dave Robertson's 300th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases. "I didn't see all of them out there," Robertson said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!" In 4 at-bats the Tigers left fielder collected 1 hit in his historic game, scored 1 run, and had 1 run batted in. Lifetime Robertson is batting .286 and has hit 300 home runs. |

Berkman Smashes 300th Homer:
Xavier's outstanding center fielder Lance Berkman joined the 300 home run club today at J. I. Clements Stadium with a booming blast in the Musketeers win over the Eagles. They topped Georgia Southern 8-2. On his milestone day Berkman had 4 hits in 4 at-bats with 4 runs batted in and 1 run scored. Gernert Pounds HR #300:
It's official. Dick Gernert of the Kansas State Wildcats hit his 300th home run tonight. The Kansas State Wildcats took on the Evansville Purple Aces and downed them 7-1, but the big story of the night was the milestone home run for Gernert. He rounded the bases with a smile and politely stepped on home plate and walked back to the dugout. "300 is a big number, and I am thankful for the ability to get to this milestone. But it's all about the team today, my accomplishments are just one piece to the Wildcats puzzle." The Wildcats first baseman went 2-for-4 with 1 home run and 2 runs batted in as the Kansas State Wildcats topped the Evansville Purple Aces. His career numbers show Gernert is batting .252 with a total of 300 home runs. |

Masson's Wife Causes Ruckus - Disses Memphis:
In an interview with the local media, the wife of Memphis's Hector Masson has criticized the local region, calling it, "A one-horse town with nothing to do and no good shops." She went on to praise other NCAA cities, saying she would love to see her husband be the face of the franchise in a "nice" city. When asked about his wife's comments, the hot-hitting third baseman was dismayed. "Look, I love her," he said, "but I am not responsible for what she says to you guys. I love the city of Memphis and plan to be here a long time." Despite Masson's comments, fans of the Memphis Tigers are worried about the third baseman's place on the team going forward. Said one local fan, "I have a wife too and what she wants, she typically gets, even if she has to pull me there kicking and screaming." |

Lumley Swats #400:
Back-back-back-gone! Harry Lumley hit his 400th home run tonight against the Liberty Flames. Lumley, of the SMU Mustangs, smiled as he rounded all the bases and got mobbed by his teammates at home plate. The game did stop momentarily as the Mustangs celebrated this accomplishment. "I was swinging for the fences and the pitch looked like a giant grape fruit," Lumley said. "This is another check off my bucket list. I'll now be setting my sights the next milestone." The Mustangs right fielder went 1 for 4 with 1 home run and 1 RBI as the SMU Mustangs won 5-3 over the Liberty Flames. During his 859-game career Lumley has batted .305 and collected 972 hits, 400 home runs and 803 RBIs. |
