News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth

by Nat Wright-Kowalski

21 January 2297 – Goodneighbor Rookie Suffers Mongrel Bites

Goodneighbor Hancocks 4th-round pick Justin Jo learned the hard way that the Commonwealth may be safer but it is not at all safe.

While strolling through Downtown Boston, Jo encountered a lone glowing mongrel. The mongrel attacked before Jo was able to put it down. He suffered bites to his arms and legs. He returned to Goodneighbor to be treated for infection and radiation poison.

His injuries are not serious, so he should be ready for spring practice in March unless infection sets in.

22 January 2297 - Off-Field Injury Sidelines Raygun

In a news release, the Vault 81 Dwellers announced that catcher Ronald Raygun has a torn back muscle. The injury will keep Raygun out of action for about 5 months. The statement did not indicate how the mishap occurred.

Speculation is that Raygun was attacked as a message to stay out of politics. Raygun had declared he was interested in pursuing politics following his baseball career and toured the headquarters of the Brotherhood of Steel, Institute, Minutemen, and Railroad, as well as joining a Brotherhood trip to the Capital Wasteland.

We do not know who attacked Raygun or why, but there may have been a person or a group not happy with Raygun’s exceptionalism. We will give more details if we gain any, but Rayguns baseball career most certainly looks derailed for now.

22 January 2297 - Fairline Hill Estates-Shaw HS Trade

Fairline Hill Estates and Shaw HS have agreed to a trade today. 28-year-old 3B Grognak Inman and 23-year-old LF Chris Jones will go to the Knuckle Punchers. In exchange the Yao Guai will receive 32-year-old RHP Jonathan Drumlin and 24-year-old 2B John Yaoguai.

Inman was the 9th-round pick of the Yao Guai in the Inaugural Draft. In 60 games, he was 80 for 252 for a .317 average. He added 16 doubles, 2 triples, 13 home runs, and 57 runs batted in and scored 43 times.

Jones appeared in 23 games as a backup outfielder. He was 5 for 20 with four runs and four RBI.

Drumlin appeared in 23 games as a reliever. He was 2-2 with 3 saves and a 5.47 ERA. He was taken in the 17th round of the Inaugural Draft.

Yaoguai is now heading to his third team but the right team for his namesake. He was drafted by the University Point Deathclaws in the 25th round of the Inaugural Draft. In eight games and two starts with the Claws, he went 2 for 10 with two doubles, a run scored, and two runs batted in. He was traded on July 15 to Shaw HS where he made six appearances as a backup second baseman. There he was 0 for 5 with one run scored and one run batted in.

28 January 2297 – Incident at Nordhagen Beach Means Jail Time for Radstag

Concord Radstags minor leaguer Dan Castle will be looking at some jail time after a drunken incident at a club in Nordhagen Beach left one man dead and two others injured.

Castle was playing billiards with others when an argument ensued over whose turn it was. The four men playing were all severely intoxicated, and they started fighting. Castle’s partner was hit with a pool cue and lay on the ground bleeding. Castle then picked up billiards balls and threw them at the two other men. Both were knocked unconscious from head wounds, but one man started convulsing and passed away shortly after.

Castle was taken into custody without incident by Brotherhood guards. He is expected to spend some time at Parsons State Insane Asylum as part of the legal agreement for murders in the Commonwealth. We are not sure how much time he would have to spend, but it is safe to say that he will not be playing baseball in 2297.

News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth

1 February 2297 – CBO Announces Two Preseason Tournaments

Instead of small tournaments spread across multiple locations, CBO Commissioner Nate Howard instead announced a change to the preseason tournament that kicked off the 2296 season. This season, there will be two tournaments with the announced stadiums being The Great Green Jewel and a reward for the CBO champions, The Slog Ghouls’ Tarberry Field Forever.

The double-elimination tournaments will be called the Battle for the North Tournament and the Battle for the South Tournament and will run from March 13 until March 21 with a maximum of three games played per day. All teams were randomly drawn for their slot in the bracket, and home teams are determined by coin toss. Games will start in four-hour increments to allow enough time between games. On days with three games, scheduled start times are 12:05, 4:05, and 8:05. On days with two games or an optional second game, the 12:05 start time is eliminated.

The following are the daily schedules of games, followed by the brackets:

Day 1, Saturday, March 13 – Games 1-3
Day 2, Sunday, March 14 – Games 4-6
Day 3, Monday, March 15 – Games 7-9*
Day 4, Tuesday, March 16 – Games 10-12*
Day 5, Wednesday, March 17 – Games 13-14
Day 6, Thursday, March 18 – Games 15-16*
Day 7, Friday, March 19 – Games 17-19*
Day 8, Saturday, March 20 – Games 20-21*
Day 9, Sunday, March 21 – Game 22 and if necessary, Game 23

* Indicates there are games that will eliminate teams from the tournament.

2 February 2297 - The Slog-Fairline Hill Estates Trade

The Slog and Fairline Hill Estates announced today in a joint press conference that 31-year-old 1B Shawn Synthman and 19-year-old minor league RHP Peak Sizeman will be going to the Yao Guai in exchange for 35-year-old RHP Wonder Boy Fultz.

"I didn’t wake up expecting this," Fultz said. "I just built a nice shack for my wife and kids just outside Fairline Hill just last month. Maybe I’ll go for ball and my wife and kids can stay here."

Fultz appeared in 24 games for the Yao Guai in 2296. The 23rd-round pick in the Inaugural Draft, the 35-year-old was 3-3 with a 5.71 ERA in 34.2 innings pitched. He is expected to take over the closer role for the Ghouls.

Synthman saw limited action in 2296 with the champion Ghouls. In 10 games as a backup second baseman, he was 3 for 9 with a triple, two runs scored, and two RBI. He was selected in the 25th round of the Inaugural Draft by The Slog.

Sizeman was a second-round pick of the Ghouls in the 2296 Rookie Draft, the 42nd pick overall. He was expected to be the closer for the minor league team, the Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks of the Dark Hollow Pond League, which now looks to be the Eastlake Aquaboys of the Glowing Sea League.

Silver Shroud drawn against the defending champs... that coupled with the coffee machine fight is not the news of the team I've been hoping for so far... haha.

Yeah, it will be a tough one to take on The Slog at the The Slog with them all pumped up about . . . wait, I don't know if I posted that story yet. I already gave up one bit earlier than I posted it. I need to stop writing ahead! I'm confusing myself about what is going on in 2297.

12 February 2297 – Family Emergency Going to Delay Hugs’ Season

Salem Witch Hats relief pitcher Josh Hugs will need some kind words and a few hugs after receiving word his wife was experiencing a difficult pregnancy. Hugs has notified the Witch Hats that he was going to delay his reporting to the team until his wife is in the clear.

Hugs was 1-3 in 2296 with 20 appearances and 6 starts. In 53.2 innings pitched, he allowed 27 earned runs on 66 hits with 10 walks and 27 strikeouts for a 4.53 ERA. It is possible he could see some starts in 2297 like he did in 2296 if he were needed.

13 February 2297 – Hein Lamp Causes Damage

Egret Scrappers minor leaguer Tommy Hein is going to miss some time this offseason and perhaps part of the regular season after, um, do I have to write this?, burns from his love for his leg lamp. Hein’s lamp has always given others around him bad vibes, and there were confirmations of that today.

According to one anonymous teammate, “That lamp always gave me the creeps. It always just looked guilty to me. Tommy said it wasn’t true that he loved his lamp, but I could see the lamp telling lies.”

Hein and his lamp were sent to Milton General Hospital for treatment.

14 February 2297 – The Slog to Unfurl Banner at Tourney

The Slog Ghouls, CBO champions and the host of the Battle for the North preseason tournament, announced today that they would present their championship banner before their first game of the tournament.

Commissioner Nate Howard said that a banner presentation would be a great motivation for planning the reigning champions always host a preseason tournament. Half of the CBO’s teams will be playing at The Slog’s stadium, Tarberry Field Forever.

The Ghouls will be playing the 4:05 game on Saturday, March 13, against the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud. Howard said that the game could be delayed if extra time was needed for the unfurling.

“This is an exciting accomplishment for our settlement,” Ghouls owner Wiseman said. “We had to go through a lot of hardships just to be the community we are. And we will gladly hold the gold-plated lighter for the league. Nate Howard has been a huge help for The Slog, and we only want to pay him back by putting on a good show and tournament for the CBO.”

15 February 2297 – Abernathy Fires GM

Daniel Restrepo said this wasn't how he anticipated his tenure with the Abernathy Adamantium coming to an end.

The 36-year-old has been fired from his post as general manager of the club. He was hired September 28.

"We didn't agree with the direction our team was going," Adamantium owner Blake Abernathy said. "I felt that Daniel was timid, and that is not what we need if we want to stay on top of the Institute League. We decided we wanted someone with a few more years on him."

In Restrepo’s place, 53-year-old Kyle Wrenchsaw will take over. Wrenchsaw will be expected to take command of the front office and rule with confidence. His first business order will be to meet with team coaches and reassess all players on the roster.

Abernathy manager Chase Stingwing, who is 41, expressed pleasure that someone older than he will be taking over the front office. According to Stingwing, “I liked Daniel, but I don’t think he was ready to be the boss yet. He needs to grow a few more gray whiskers before that happens.”

16 February 2297 – University Point Introduces Special Bench Coach

Last year we wrote some about this guy. Through an unfortunate series of events, he was assaulted by Babyface Aorta and the Toddlers gang. The incident ended his baseball career as a player, but he is getting a second chance.

Today the University Point Deathclaws introduced former pitcher Crick Dubya as their bench coach. The position came open after the Deathclaws original pick failed to sign before the team’s designated deadline. They then approached Dubya about filling the position, but he was still in rehab. Deathclaws owner Ronnie Shaw said she would hold the position until Dubya could make a decision. Two days ago, Dubya walked into Shaw’s office and said he was in.

“We’re proud to present the first former CBO player as a coach in the CBO,” University Point GM Nate Fumble said. “We know he only had a two-game career, but I think he really understands the preparation the players will need and use that to relate to the players.”

At 26-years-old, Dubya will be the youngest coach in the league.

17 February 2297 - Fairline Hill Estates Trades Jerry for Oberland's Bush, Caps

There were plenty of hugs and handshakes all around as 31-year-old RHP Gerald Jerry left the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai today en route to joining the Oberland T-51s organization. 21-year-old 1B Tony Caps and 24-year-old LHP Papa Bush will be traveling to Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai to complete the swap.

On his lifetime ledger sheet, the 31-year-old Jerry has won 8 and lost 8 with a 6.36 ERA. Jerry was the Yao Guai’s 6th-round pick in the 2296 Inaugural Draft.

So far in his career, the 24-year-old Bush has put up a 6.20 ERA with 8 wins and 2 losses. Bush was teken in the 9th round by the T-51s in the Inaugural Draft.

Caps saw limited action as a backup first baseman for Oberland. In 16 games, he started twice. He was 9 for 20 for a .450 average with two doubles and two home runs. He scored four times and knocked in nine. He was a 17th-round pick in the Inaugural Draft.

Speculation was that the Yao Guai wanted to move Jerry to make room for their first-round pick in the 2296 Rookie Draft, SP Randy Kaplan, in the starting rotation. As of now, Kaplan is assigned to Fairline Hill Estate’s minor league team, the Eastlake Aquaboys.

StLee's Mailbag

Mailbag time:

Q: StLee, your dynasty is the most awesome thing I have ever read in the 1000-year history of the internet. I don't have a question but wanted to tell you I think I love you.

A: I know.

Q: How do you determine your news stories?

A: I have made myself a little system of daily dice rolls in the universe. Every universe day, I roll four dice. If there are any of the following combinations--four straight numbers (minor), two pairs (medium), three-of-a-kind (major), four-of-a-kind (super major)--then there is a league event.

I then use a random number generator to select which team has the event. From there, I use the random number generator to determine which player receives the action. In the case of super major events, I roll a die to determine if there is one or more players affected.

Number rolls:
Four in a row. Roll again. First number from that sequence is the event selected.
Two pairs. Roll again. First number from that sequence is the event selected.
Three-of-a-kind or four-of-a-kind. Number is event selected.

Sometimes events are based on my tasks menu. For instance, #1 has been limited in some cases. Sometimes I had to make up an event when a team I had no plans for was selected.

The numbers:
1 - Team or league event. This has been used for such events like changing a team name or some political crisis in the area.
2 - Trade. Minor = only reserves/minor leaguers. Medium = only reserves/minor leaguers/back ups. Major = any player. Super major = only top 5 players.
3 - Stats boost. League is young and players stats are all around bad. In time, there will be a roll for positive or negative stats boosts.
4 - Player incident. Roll for if player is aggressor, agressee, accident victim, causes other accidental harm, damages property.
5 - Player leave. Sometimes intersects with #4 but this means the player must miss some time.
6 - Creature attack. Use a random number generator to determine which creature attacks.

For #s 4-6, roll once to determine severity. Pair of sixes = player death, pair of ones= player lucky escape. Any other combination equals roll for length of time missed.

Once I know the event, the team, and the player, I make the story related to the player. In some cases, I mark that the story needs a follow-up. In most cases, I don't mark stories for follow-up. They are tough to keep up with. I have a huge Excel file with several sheets where I am trying to organize things, but it is cumbersome!

There you have it. My system!

Q: How do you have time to write all this?

A: I don't. Well, right now, I do since I am on break until August 10 although work seems to keep sneaking in these meetings (one yesterday, one tomorrow, one next Tuesday, one next Wednesday). On August 10, my time will be limited, but I will try to schedule some daily/weekly time to write.

That is why I decided to scrap a few creative stories and some features for Year 2, like the DCR and WRVR previews and post-series shows. They take a while to prepare and feel redundant. Instead, I will start posting news recaps for the teams people follow most and have a few featured series stories each week.

I think I will like the speed of the season better for Year 2. We know the teams and players. Now let's play some ball.

Q: Are there more places you're going with this Fallout universe?

A: Story in March!!! Stay tuned! Beyond that, yes!

22 February 2297 – Mirelurk Killclaw Clips Chemist

Sunshine Tidings Chemists catcher Fon Traderman ran into a deadly creature near the Charles River. He is lucky to be alive to tell about his ordeal. The mirelurk killclaw almost lived up to its name, snapping a claw around Traderman’s neck before a vicious blow by Traderman’s brother, Lon, delivered a killshot.

Traderman is badly injured, though he should recover from his injuries. He is expected to miss at least three months from now while his body heals.

Fon Traderman’s other brother, Don, who was also on scene, described the encounter. “We were going to take a swim in the river before Fon had to head back to Sunshine Tidings Co-op next week. Well, that mirelurk thing didn’t give us a chance. Thankfully Lon and I had some weapons nearby."

The killing weapon by Lon was a shovel.

1 March 2297 – Suicider Injures Caravan, DC Player

Diamond City Swatters outfielders Logan Crawler and Nasty Byrd had a scary affair while returning with a caravan from Vault 95. On their way, they ran into a super mutant suicide equipped with a mini nuke set to explode. And explode it did, injuring several members of the caravan but killing only the suicider.

While Byrd was able to escape the impact of the blast, Crawler was peppered with shrapnel that left him in critical condition. Crawler and others injured in the blast were fortunate that a Brotherhood vertibird patrol was nearby. All victims were airlifted to Milton General Hospital across the river. Crawler and one other were the most serious and will need operations to remove the shrapnel.

The Diamond City players are due to report to the team tomorrow with team functions and bonding events before practice begins on Wednesday, March 3. Byrd is expected to make it to the team on time, but Crawler may be out for the 2297 season, assuming he survives his injuries.

2 March 2297 – Baseball Is Back!

Signed players reported to their teams today as the 2297 season is set to begin soon.

Teams will practice for a week before heading off to their respective preseason tournaments. Games start on Saturday, March 13, with 12:05 matchups between County Crossing vs University Point in The Slog and Finch Farm vs Lexington in Diamond City.

Each team can currently invite 50 players to their preseason teams to participate in the preseason tournaments and other exhibition games. Only 25 players can make the major league roster. Others will either be designated to the minor league team in the Boston Minor Union or get released.

This season all 24 teams are using ESAU, so players moving from team to team will not happen as much. Some players at the bottom of rosters expressed displeasure in being moved from team to team, sometimes without having a chance to report before another team claimed them.

Also, on March 13, the Slog will play at 4:05 PM in its home stadium. The reigning Sole Survivor Series winners and CBO champions will raise their championship banner before they take on Fairline Hill Estates in the second game of the Battle for the North Tournament.

5 March 2297 – Shaw Looking to Change Name

Uranium fever may be a reality of the fallout, but name change fever has seemed to take hold. In the latest news involving a team changing its name, the Shaw High School Knuckle Punchers are on the clock.

The Knuckle Punchers, also called Shaw HS, plans to drop the high school portion of their name. That is right now, though it cannot be official without petitioning at the correct time during the offseason. The name will officially change for the 2298 season, but the team no longer wants to be defined by the location of its stadium. The team is in the process of changing its marketing to start using its settlement location, Roxbury, rather than Shaw HS, a high school that was named after a Union general from a war over 400 years ago. The Knuckle Punchers have also released media files mentioning the Roxbury name as part of its stadium, which will officially be known at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury.

The team will feature some changes to its circle logo and will also change its road jersey to drop the “HS” from it.

Roxbury is the name of the pre-war town, and Nate Howard has been pushing for that name to come back from his days in the 21st century. By the Knuckle Punchers featuring the name of Roxbury, perhaps more teams will identify the area as Roxbury rather than some of the surrounding sites like Shaw HS and West Roxbury Station.

8 March 2297 – Nuka World to be Site of Baseball League

Nuka-Cola founder John-Caleb Bradberton announced today through a press release to Publick Occurrences, Diamond City Radio, Atom Cats Radio, and WRVR that there will be professional baseball in and around Nuka World.

Bradberton said the league would be entirely owned by him as an independent league of eight teams all based on flavors of Nuka-Cola: Cherry, Dark, Grape, Orange, Quantum, Quartz, Victory, and Wild.

The league is still working on building decent talent so that not all players will leave for the CBO. Also, Bradberton is working to increase security in the area and build good ballparks for the teams. He stated through the release that the league is planned to start playing ball in 2399.

10 March 2297 – Shoemaker Making Progress

Fairline Hill Estates manager David Meatcook said one player stood out to him more than any other at recent practices. Rookie catcher Tyler Shoemaker.

“The kid’s been hitting well, catching well,” Meatcook said. “Hell, even running well for a big galoot.”

Meatcook said that Shoemaker has been taking in all instruction and then performing.

“We’re going to try to give him a look during the tournament. One thing is for sure. He’s going to dominate at Eastlake if that’s where he’s going to play.”

Shoemaker, the 4th-round pick of the Yao Guai, number 82 overall in the 2296 Rookie Draft, did not have many expectations. He said, “I know what the scouting reports said. Can’t handle a full workload. Can’t adapt to the CBO game. Questionable work ethic. OK. Nice report. Let me prove them all wrong.”

11 March 2297 – Accident at Construction Site Leaves Knuckle Puncher Injured

Shaw Knuckle Punchers catcher Dirt Potter had unfortunate luck as he was touring a construction site just outside The Slog.

Because of more demand from the ghoul population to live in or near The Slog due to the CBO baseball team’s success, there was a lot of construction going on in the area. Although there were signs warning of the danger, the younger members of the community and visiting players ignored those warnings to check out the public housing being built. That is when a portion of the structure collapsed, pinning Potter underneath the rubble.

A construction crew removed enough rubble to remove Potter from the wreckage, but it appeared Potter suffered a crushed spine. He was airlifted to Medford Memorial Hospital where they hope to stabilize him.

The Institute has some capabilities of repairing parts of the human body through their synth technology. Knuckle Punchers team trainer Alex Trujillo said that the team had been in contact with the Institute and they would send members of its Robotics and BioScience divisions to Medford Memorial to analyze Potter’s injuries.

“He’s out,” Knuckle Punchers manager Squatty O’Sullivan said in disgust. “He might be out for good. I guess we’ll see what the Institute can do for him, but he ain’t smelling the field in ’97.”

O’Sullivan expressed his dismay on players doing something stupid before the tournament.

“We’re trying to turn this ship around from the disaster that was last season,” O'Sullivan said. “I can teach baseball. I don’t know if I can teach smarts. Maybe the whole team will learn.”

Ace pitcher and team captain Brad Westing said the team would rally around Potter in the Battle for the North tournament. “We’re going to win this for Dirt.”

Multiple leagues sure will make this ambitious, though we'll have to see how you handle it. Of course though, more excitement for us, so in favor from that point of view.

I've still not actually played Nuka World. I started a play through probably in February I think, but because F4 is such a long game I got... distracted... by the time I got to that DLC... a shame because the express purpose of that playthrough was to finally play Nuka World.

I am thinking that they will be background with occasional updates on what is happening, just like running minor and independent leagues in another world. The extra league(s) will be used to feed more players to the CBO, which will be the main focus of this dynasty.

Nuka World has some fun parts to it. The problem I have is that the Fallout 4 game was made for a one-track focus on "finding Shaun," so the actual DLC does not fit into the game at all. If Fallout 4 were more like Fallout 3 with the karma system, then Nuka World would have made more sense for its "join the Raiders" storyline. However, I just cannot will myself to be a villain in games. I want to be the hero, so the raiders of Nuka World all had to meet their ends. That included the one follower in Nuka World, Porter Gage.

Who knows? Maybe I'll change my mind in this dynasty and determine he changed his mind and joined Nate in annihilating the Pack, Disciples, and Operators. Then Porter Gage can make an appearance in the Nuka World league in some capacity. Let me sketch some thoughts on that.

I woke up super early today, so after updating my own Dynasty (hosted on another site) and playing a month, I had time to pick up my F4 save again, inspired by this story. Unfortunately, apparently I'm at the part of Far Harbor where you have to play the mini-game to recover Dima's memories, which is probably why I took a break in the first place...

Personally I tend to play the game multiple times using various different characters to see the full range of possibilities, but it comes easy for me because I'm a long time Dungeons and Dragons player. When playing as myself though I tend to go for the more heroic choices though. I will say though, on my first playthrough of F4 I was using a character and sided with the Institute. Even though that's generally regarded as the "evil" choice by the fandom, I think their problem is more lack of good leadership, and unlike the Brotherhood, they literally make you the leader, so you can just fix that with your own hypothetical leadership. Also contrary to popular belief siding with the Institute you don't have to eliminate the Minutemen, too.

Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble in *your* thread.

March 2297 - News and Notes - March 13

Today in the CBO

News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth

by Nat Wright-Kowalski

13 March 2296 - Let the Games Begin!

It's the day you have all been waiting for, baseball fans! CBO ball is back as we throw out the first pitch for the 2297 baseball season. Today begins the Battle for the North Tournament at The Slog's Tarberry Field Forever and the Battle for the South tournament at Diamond City's The Great Green Jewel.

The honor of throwing the first pitch in each tournament goes to University Point starter Qunetin Malone against County Crossing Bloodbugs leadoff hitter LF Tom Mastodon and Lexington starter Pete Pembroke against the Finch Farm Four Leafs leadoff hitter CF Ginger Rogers.

In addition to the 12:05 first pitch times for the County Crossing-University Point and Finch Farm-Lexington games, preceding the 4:05 game in the Battle for the South Tournament, The Slog will unfurl its 2296 CBO Championship banner for its stadium and fans.

The banners for the winners of each tournament are also prepared (shown below) with the names, logos, and leagues of each team being patched on once the tournament is done.

As you can see in this dynasty, my role play was to unite them all! Not an option in the actual game, but my option. And it is OK to mention the Fallout game here. I'm actually curious about your dynasty, if you don't mind sharing a link to it.

I haven't been playing Fallout much lately except when I need to check something that I cannot confirm through the wiki. On my first playthrough, I sided with the Institute, too, because that place was just too cool to blow up. I don't understand why you couldn't just depopulate the place and achieve the same goal. After that, I wanted to do a Brotherhood playthrough, but my game has been bugged and getting the Courser chip is where I stall in the main quest. It will never give me the next mission of giving the chip to Tinker Tom. One day, I'll use a console command to bypass that and continue on my way, but for now, it is summer. And summer is baseball

P.S. - The DiMA quest is ridiculous, especially that last puzzle. I played it once. The next playthrough, console command to bypass it!

Battle for the North Tournament

Front Porch Potter pitched a complete game seven-hit shutout to lead the Bloodbugs to victory. CF Dave Tattoo was 3 for 4 with a double and four runs batted in to lead the offensive effort for County Crossing.

The Slog 4 at Fort Hagen 2, 12 innings

On a day when the Ghouls raised their championship banner, the teams waited until the 12th inning before the offenses woke up. Edwin Mass pitched 10 innings, allowing only one unearned run in the no-decision. Lernz Tentsleep drove in three runs for The Slog.

SLOG BANNER

In the night cap, the Chemists outlasted the Dwellers. Tony Bertha earned the victory, giving up four earned runs on seven hits in 8.1 innings. Steve Gunkill hit a three-run home run for the Dwellers. Six players, including Bertha, had two hits apiece for Sunshine Tidings.

Battle for the South Tournament

South

Pete Pembroke pitched a complete game three-hit shutout to lead the Synths to victory. Tyler Ross led the offense, going 4 for 4 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Fairline Hill Estates 0 at Warwick 3

The Mirelurks completed the second shutout of the day in the Battle for the South at the Great Green Jewel in Diamond City. John Diner pitched the complete game shutout, allowing nine hits and striking out four. Shawn Robco hit a two-run home run in the third inning, as well as driving in the other run in the first on a sacrifice fly.

Quincy 2 at Salem 8

March 2297 - News and Notes - March 14

Today in the CBO

News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth

by Nat Wright-Kowalski

14 March 2297 - Small Bertha: "War!"

Following the announcement of the Nuka World league coming into play in the Bradberton area, Small Bertha, leader of the Harbormen, president of West Mount Desert Island, owner of Vim!, and sponsor of the Brotherhood League, had one word for Nuka-Cola owner John-Caleb Bradberton: "War!"

Nearly foaming at the mouth, Small Bertha showed a limited but colorful vocabulary. The perpetual woman-child, Bertha was not happy with Nuka-Cola's announcement prior to a tournament where the Vim! logo peppered across the stadium. From her personal booth at Tarberry Field Forever, she rambled on about what that war means. She felt that Bradberton was trying to take away from her product's chance to shine.

"Nuka-Cola isn't even that good," Bertha said. "Vim! is much tastier and healthier and down to earth. If Bradberton wants to push his product through baseball, then we will, too.

"After this tournament, I am taking baseball to Mount Desert Island. Far Harbor and the rest of the island can do baseball, too. Fog be damned.

"You know what? **** John-Caleb and his stupid *** name and his stupid *** town. His stupid ******* ****** *************** park got overrun by raiders. Mount Desert would eat his ******* park and the ***** **** *********** living in ********* Bradberton and that ******** stupid **** theme park.

"My baseball league is going to ******** be eighty-seven times ******** better than his ******* ******* baseball league. ******!"

We at Publick Occurrences decided not to post much of Bertha's speech.

It's over at Mafia Universe, a site dedicated to the "party game" Mafia/Werewolf, just in forum form. https://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums...-Participation

Starting off small, fictional league with 4 teams in 1871, but I'll grow it as time goes on and shape it with reader participation. Only started it last week, so most of the thread is just me being amazed at how easy to mod OOTP is. Also I gave this work a shoutout in there early on, though don't know if Zack actually popped by. Might seem like a strange place to put it, but in the "Other Games" section we have a playthrough of Madden, a NCAA Football playthrough, and two, soon to be three FM stories, that guy's just on a little break.

I checked out your dynasty. You should double post it on the Dynasty Forum here to get some additional input and readers. I'm one of those who checks out every fictional league dynasty.
