Inside the Iron Pigs Org..

A look at the big club and prospects... I feel like I have enough pitching to win it this year. That doesn't mean a ton because anything can happen in October, but the offense is second to none, deep lineup that gets on base. Starting to feel like the minors is getting stocked as well, though we came in 17th overall, down from 10th, I loved the draft this year.

Our staff

A look at the staff...
Cox and Davis have FAR exceeded expectations. Spike would likely be my game 1 starter if playoffs started today. The bullpen, given that it's ace has been out the entire year, has been nothing short of amazing. Ken Johnson can, and will make the 9th more interesting than I'd like, but for a guy with major control issues (7), he's been phenomenal. Have no idea which way Alejandrez is going, though I don't feel it's up, and Mike Davis could be in his final 3 months on this team. Between his injuries and inconsistency he's driving me nuts, and with some kids looking like they'll be knocking on the door soon he could get a push.
Bentley is still a prospect, though without some improvement that could change.

At the plate

The Chicago offense is my pride and joy. Hugh Collins, imo, is the best all around offensive player in the game. Average? Check, Power? Check, Speed? Check. At 25 he's poised to make a legit HoF run. Bill Alexander is having another Alexander year, which is to say awesome. On another 40+ HR 150+ RBI pace. Ernesto Gutierrez is showing why so many teams tried to get him, and thank goodness i thought about it, but never pulled the trigger. Leading the league in hitting. Hate leading Collins off because I feel it's a huge bat missing RBI opportunities but he's doing that now while Gutierrez heals on the DL. Ron Miller could, and is, play every day as a RH bat, he MURDERS lefties. Lorenzelli is a sleeper, just below .300 but crushing, at the top of the league in doubles, and triples, a huge threat having him down in the lower half of the order. Eric Hudson, for his defense, is fine. Not having a better Hudson type season, but if he hits 275 with 10 HR I'm ecstatic as he eliminates running games. Chartier, it can be forgotten, is just 21 years old and in his 4th IBL season. On pace for 30/30 after going 27/37 last year. Bringing gold glove caliber defense to 2nd, SS and 3B makes him insanely valuable. With Riggs being 22 it means my DP combo is 20 and 22 respectively, and Lorenzelli is 23 with Morgan the 'old guy' in the IF at 26. Lost in the shuffle as well is Raul Feliz, now just 20 years old and in his 2nd full IBL season. Lopez figures to take over the utility role given that he switch hits and Ferrer is in his mid 30s.

In the field

Our defense is ranked 3rd in the FL and 3rd overall in the IBL. With plus defenders all over the place and the best OF defense in the game.

And finally the other stuff...

We are projected, with a 29.6 million budget and expenses of 31.2, to 'lose' 1.6 million. The word lose is a slight annoyance since I know Mr Marquis is making serious money with this team. Our projected budget next year looks to be 35 million but with 12 in operating expenses and a 31m payroll there will be little left for anything else. I am worried our player dev and draft spending is going to start hurting us.
Fan interest is at 90, and Loyalty is good. In an average market the team is over performing in every way.
We've drawn 1.98 million to date, down 2.1% from last year, and are averaging 47,285. We've increased from 2.95 to 3.18 to 3.9 last year, love to break 4m this year.
Our most popular players are:
1) Jean Chartier
2) Hugh Collins
3) Ernesto Cruz
4) Bill Alexander
5) Ernesto Cruz

Our payroll is 24th of 26 teams at 22.2 million with a league average of 33.7, our average player salary is 571 in a league where 803 is the average.

(CAN SOMEONE!!!! Please let me know how, if I can, to increase the overall league budgets? Is there a 1 stop way to do it? Or if I go in and add a sum to each team will the teams then go from that budget up each year, or down? Or will it 'reset'? I don't want all the teams in the red when free agency hits and I feel like 5-10 million more around the league would open it up, but I don't want it to be spend whatever you want from a financial standpoint)

From a salary perspective I have 1 looming case, Spike Davis. At 340 this year he's looking to bump to 2+ million.

I am not a doctor, but I play one on TV. I have never tried this, but I believe it would work. Go to the League Setup / Financials screen. Add an amount to the Average National Media Contract equal to the amount that you want the average team to get. In your case, you might use $7.5M. In theory (and I stress an untested theory), the teams would get that extra revenue and the budgets would increase accordingly, perhaps it would take a year cycle or maybe right away if you timed it right. Be sure the cash maximum is a big enough number that the owner will leave some in the teams instead of just taking the extra money.

Steve Howard went 3-6 with a run and a double, Lorenzelli went 2-6 with 2 runs. Feliz had a 2-6 day with a run and 3 RBI’s on his 5th HR, and Eric Hudson went 3-5 with 2 runs and 2 RBI’s.
CHI 16 NY 6 (56-28 +4)

INJURY NEWS
Buffalo Bison Catcher Marvin Frean will miss the remainder of the season after tearing a back muscle in a game last week. The 26 year old was hitting 252-10-36 in 42 games at the time of his injury. Buffalo trails 1st place Staten Island by 2 games in the Empire Division and the Clippers by 6 in the Wild Card. Buffalo will turn to former starter Aubrey Schultz and 23 year old Mark Moran, their outstanding 23 year old defensive prospect.

TRADE NEWS
Houston has made a trade to strengthen their roster for the playoff run. Acquiring 28 year old Catcher Eric Johnston from Green Bay, along with 23 year old OF prospect Marshall Mcdonald for 28 year old OF Dave Miller. Johnston was drafted from Buffalo in the expansion draft and was hitting 257-3-17 in 29 games this year. McDonald was signed as a free agent by Green Bay this winter. Miller was one of Houstons original draft choices (45th round) and was a regular in their OF since 2013. In 340 IBL games he hit 257/352/465 with 55 doubles, 5 triples, 60 HR’s and 169 RBI’s in 1179 AB’s. He will play beside Andruw Jones as well as be their LH DH option, likely in the 5-6 hole.

GAME 85
MacFadden struggles 5-8-5-5-3-7 giving up 3 HR’s and Winston (0-1) gives up a game losing 2 out double. Jose Palacios goes 2-4 with a run and 4 RBI’s on a double and his 21st HR. Bill Alexander stays hot going 1-4 with a 2 run HR (26) and Feliz, Riggs and Hudson all go 2-4 in the loss.
BUF 7 CHI 6 (56-29 +3)

DL NEWS
Ernest Cruz is back! The All Star closer is off the DL and headed to Tulsa for a week to get some innings.

MINORS
Tulsa SP Curt Daugherty (acquired in the 5 player deal with Corpus Christi) punched out a career high 15 in a 6-1 win over Winston-Salem yesterday. The 22 year old is 3-1 2.48 since being acquired. In 36.1 IP he has yielded 29 hits with 40 K’s and 8 walks.

TRADE NEWS
A day after trading one, Green Bay acquires one. Acquiring 32 year old Jason Cole (C) from Michigan for 28 year old SP Rafael Rosales. Cole was hitting 268-1-10 in 22 games for the Battlecates after splitting catching duties in Michgan last year. Rosales was taken by the Blizzard, from the World Chamion Freedom in the expansion draft. The 2014 AAA FL Outstanding pitcher (17-8 3.74) he was off to a rough start in Green Bay this year going 4-7 6.36 in 17 starts.

I also have interest from Vegas, the 2nd team looking to trade for backup C Rafael Flores (a 20 on D) but like the other offer their trying to get one of my former high picks in the deal, this time Jorge Trujillo. The offer this time was 25 year old switch hitting corner IF Chad McGee, and it’s interesting. He’s a 40+ homer guy who can flat out play both first and third. Would fit PERFECTLY into my 5 or 6 hole, surrounding Collins with he and Alexander, both switch hitters and ahead of Morgan. They’re offering a 2nd rounder too, but I cannot move the propect, going to work the deal to see if we can find a fit. Hamstrung by about everyone but the expansion clubs being over budget.

GAME 86
Alfredo Alejandrez (10-3) goes 6-3-1-1-3-9 and the offense pounds All Star Jim Peck for 5 runs and 8 hits in 5. Paul Riggs 3-5 with 2 runs and an RBI on a single, double and triple and Eric Hudson goes 3-4 with 2 runs on a double. Hugh Collins goes 2-4 with a run and 2 RBI’s on his 24th HR and a triple. Chartier steals 2 (18).
CHI 8 BUF 1 (57-29 +4)

INJURY NEWS
Devastating news out of West Michigan. 4 time All Star Shawn Calhoun will miss the next 10-11 months after undergoing Tommy John today. The 33 year old was 10-5 2.74 and in the midst of another stellar season. A career 54-34 2.93 record he was 2nd in wins, 2nd in K’s and leading the FL in ERA.

GAME 87
Ken Johnson making it interesting. Ryan Pennington (H9) stayed in for the 9th with 3 lefties due up but a 2 out single brought Johnson in the game. He proceeded to walk the first two hitters to lead the bases but got Mike Harris on a FC to end it, for his 22nd Save. Ron Cox (6-3) threw 107 pitches going 5-6-4-3-4-3 and the pen mixed and matched into the 9th going 4-3-0-0-3-5. Raul Feliz led the offense going 3-4 with 3 runs and an RBI on 2 doubles. Alexander, Lorenzelli and Riggs each had two hits with Lorenzelli stealing his 14th.
CHI 6 BUF 4 (59-20 +4)

BAKERSFIELD
43-49 9 GB of Fremont-Eric Coates is hitting .308, Ricardo Gonzalez has 14 HR’s and 52 RBI’s. Bob Alexander is at 3.46 and Zak Chambers has 9 wins and 94 K’s, 1 ahead of Mike Hamilton at 93, and Alexander at 91. They are pretty much around the middle in all categories except Defense where they are 11th.

DENISON
50-42 +2 over Atlanta-Kohei Fukui is hitting 280, Kyle Robinson has 15 HR’s, 1 ahead of Brandon Harris, and Robinson has 62 RBI’s. Ed Harris has a 2.73 ERA, Robert Reyna is 11-4 and Mike Ablett has 107 Ks. Melvin Turner is 1-3 with 22 Saves and a 2.72. They are 1st in defense, 3rd in runs scored, 2nd in OBP, and 3rd in starters ERA.

43-49 4 GB of Smiths-Clyde Brooks is hitting 243 with 10 HR’s and 50 RBI’s to lead all three. Anselmo Israel is at 4.46, Cesar Alfonso has 7 wins and Israel has 124 K’s (he is 2-10 in 18 starts with 105 IP, 96 hits and 66 walks). Signed him in April as a minor league free agent, 20th pick by Sacramento in the inaugural draft. They are 2nd in runs, avg, OBP and HR’s, 12th in runs against, starting ERA, and defense…

HEAVENER
7-11 2 GB of Coeur d’Alene-Alex Cueller is hitting 238 with 3 HR’s and 9 RBI’s to lead all three. Garrett Austin is at 1.48, Jeff Hall has 2 wins and Alfredo Berroa has 27 K’s. They are 12th in runs, 10th in Avg and OBP. Middle of the pack in all pitching.

OMAHA
8-10 3 GB of Fresno- Ken Morgan is hitting 294, George Payton has 4 HR’s and 11 RBI’s but is hitting .153. No qualifying pitchers, Victor Galvaz and Roberto Martinez have 2 wins, and Carlos Gomez has 21 K’s. 13th in OBP, 12th in starter ERA and 3rd in bullpen ERA.

INJURY NEWS
Green Bay learned that Andruw Jones would miss the next 3 months after a knee injury was diagnosed as a torn meniscus. Jones was hitting 246-6-28 on the year.

GAME 88
Spike Davis (11-3) labored into the 7th going 6-6-3-1-1-4 on 104 pitches and van Bodegraven and Pennington let the White Caps get back in it. But Sanchez (H13) and Johnson (who k’d the side in the 9th and got his 23rd save) were great. Riggs went 3-4 with 2 runs and stole 2 bases (8). Alexander (27) and Howard (2) homered and Hugh Collins drove in 2 and stole his 21st. Eric Hudson went 1-2 with a run and RBI but the big news was his 1st SB of the year.
CHI 8 WMI 6 (59-29 +5)

WEEK 14 WRAP
El Paso’s Gerald Wright, making a STRONG case for MVP went 12-26 with 3 HR’s and 12 RBI’s this week to win FL PotW honors. On the year he is hitting .352-30-97 in 88 games.

Railcats Randy Boyd took home CL PotW honors after going 13-28 with a HR and 5 RBI’s.

DL NEWS
Ernesto Gutierrez is off the DL, Howard goes back down. Thinking ahead I cannot send Johnson down, and keeping him and optioning Moore is likely the move to bring the 3 right 3 lefty thing into balance. If I can manage his appearances it’s a dominant power pen.

STATS/STREAKS
Holy crap! Just days after being acquired from Houston, Dave Miller goes 3-4 with 3 HR’s and 6 RBI’s for Green Bay in a 15-0 win over Michigan. Talk about intro’s.

3) Fresno
4) Pittsburgh

26) Wes Michigan

Bumped the National media from 7.5 to 15 and cash to 5m, it didn't impact immediate but I'll check tomorrow and if it's not changed wait to see at years end going into next season to see what happens, just have to remember to check it.
Thanks

MacFadden (5-4) got the win going 6.1-8-5-5-1-7 and Winston got out of a sticky jam in the seventh with a DP.
CHI 10 WMI 5 (61-29 +6)

STATS/STREAKS
New York Knights 2014 #1 pick (#2 overall) SP Jesus Romano tossed his first IBL shutout today in a 1-hitter over Columbus. The 22 year old punched out 6 and walked 2 moving to 9-7 4.42 in 19 starts.

GAME 91
A win in a heavily deflated clubhouse. Eric Hudson went down with what looks like a bad ankle injury and Hugh Collins came out after hurting himself as well. Alejandrez (11-3) struggled, throwing 101 pitches in 5, with a 1st inning 2 out none on catchers interference turning into a 3 run inning. He went 5-6-4-4-2-5 and Moore (H4) Winston (H6) Torres (H3) got the game to Ken Johnson for his 24th save. Chartier and Alexander had 2 hit days and Ignacio Ferrer drove in 2 with a double.
CHI 5 BRO 4 (62-29 +6)

INJURY NEWS
Hudson will miss the next 4 weeks with a sprained ankle. Jesus Fuentes will be placed on the roster and recalled from Tulsa (he was hitting .283/331/480 and is a left handed bat. Above average catcher with gap pop). Flores will hit 9th and catch vs lefties and Fuentes and he will play every other day vs righties with Flores being a late inning defensive replacement.

No word on Collins, hopeful it’s a day to day thing. HUGE blow if he has to miss any length of time.

DRAFT NEWS
We get an extra 5th pick (24) next year for failing to sign Rosado. Would rather have had him…

GAME 92
Ron Cox (6-4) was horrific. A 2.2-7-8-8-1-4 outing with 3 home runs. Ron Miller went 2-4 with his 9th HR and drove in 3, Gutierrez, Chartier, Lorenzelli, Ferrer and Flores had 2 hit games with Gutierrez hitting his 27th double and scoring two and stealing 2 (17) and Chartier scrored twice.
BRO 9 CHI 7 (62-30 +5)

STATS/STREAKS
Vegas’s Jesus Andrales went 2-5 to extend his streak to 20 games today. At .364 he’s leading the CL (and Cy May by 10pts) in hitting.

INJURY NEWS
It could be worse. Hugh Collins will miss the next 3 weeks with a rib cage strain. Hopefully he’s back and ready to go the final 8 weeks. Alfredo Lozano a switch hitting OF is getting antoher shot. He struggled in a short ’13 stint but is raking at AAA this year at 322/397/495. Not to mention he can play ALL three OF positions extremely well. Outstanding runner.

GAME 93
A tired but determined pen threw 4 hitless innings in relief of a tired Spike Davis who threw 100 pitches over a 5-7-2-2-2-5 outing. Van Bodegraven (3-2) got the win with 2.1 IP and 3 K’s and Johnson got the final 4 outs with 2 K’s for Save 25. Feliz and Gutierrez had 2 hits apiece and scored a run.
CHI 3 BRO 2 (63-30 +5)

GAMES
Clipper SP Marcos Diaz shut down West Michigan on 6 hits in a 6-0 Columbus win. He struck out 11 in moving to 11-4 3.97 in 19 starts this year.

INJURY NEWS
Brooklyn lost 2B Paul Morris for the rest of the 2015 season when he suffered a herniated disc in today's game. He was hitting 265-5-26 in 73 games.

New York learned it would be without oft traveled 1B Lee Allen for the next 8 weeks with a bad hamstring strain. Allen is hitting 291-8-35 in 58 games this season. He hit 304-22-66 in 97 games for the Knights last season after coming from Brooklyn 2013 winter trade. He was the 3rd round pick of Fresno in the 2012 IBL Inaugural draft.

GAME 94
That same tired pen failed tonight. Handed a 1-0 lead in the 8th with 2 out and nobody on Dave Winston needed to get All Star catcher Dean Strong out, and couldn't. Strong his a game tying solo shot (19) and Jorge Sanchez (2-3) blew the lead and then walked the winning run in, in the bottom of the 10th. Chartier went 4-5 with a double and his 20th SB and Gutierrez and Alexander had 2 hit nights. Sherman Mitchell went 9.2-10-2-2-0-4.
COL 3 CHI 2 (63-31 +4)

DL NEWS
Jorge Sanchez is optioned down and Ernesto Cruz is called back onto the roster. None of the lefties deserved to be sent out but there had to be room made to keep Johnson on the roster and up. He’ll close in AAA and provide insurance over the next 6 weeks until I can get him back up here.

GAME 95
Ernesto Cruz is back! Throwing a scoreless 9th to notch his first save of 2015, setup by one Ken Johnson! And Ryan Pennington (H11). Dan MacFadden (6-4) went 7-5-0-0-1-6. Bill Alexander went 2-4 with a run and 2 RBI’s on his 28th HR.Ferrer and Chartier had 2 hit days.
CHI 3 COL 1 (64-31 +5)

WEEK 15 WRAP
GAMES
A quiet year for 3 time All Star Walt Thomspon (BRO) got louder yesterday when he posted his first shutout of 2015 in blanking Green Bay 1-0 on 3 hits. The 33 year old is 9-9 4.21 in 21 starts.

STUFF
Buffalo Bison LF Bob Veeck took home FL PotW honors for his 14-30 3 HR 7 RBI effort this week. On the year he is hitting .335-17-56 in 85 games as he aims for his 3rd straight 30 HR season (30-33-17 this year).

Vegas 51 RF Bob White took home CL PotW after he went 9-19 with 3 HR’s and 12 RBI’s. The 23 year old is hitting 268-13-70 on the year.

HUGE TRADE ALERT!
In a stunning trade today, defending World Champion Philadelphia shipped slugger Dave Ladd to the Tulsa Drillers, along with 940K cash, for 33 year old Catcher Rajah Lashari and 19 year old pitching prospect Luis Quinones. Ladd was hitting 278 with 17 HR’s and 75 RBi’s this year after his 287-30-103 World Series campaign. Ladd is a career 293/378/540 hitter with 107 HR’s and 394 RBI’s in 504 games. He’s a 2 time all star and 2013 Rawlings Gold Glove winner in Left field. Lashari, a 2012 All Star, is hitting 343-12-33 in 46 games this season but the emergence of 27 year old Rich Alfred appears to have made him expendable (he hitting 251 with 11 HR’s and 33 RBI’s in 76 games and an outstanding defender). The 19 year old Quinones was the 10 round pick of Tulsa and converted from SS to Closing where he is displaying upper 90’s stuff with an ‘off the table slider’. He is a few years out but is a 4.5 star guy in many scouts books. This smells of a ‘rebuild’ move for the defending champs who are currently 45-50 and 15 games behind division leading Pittsburgh. Tulsa is just 3 back of 1st place Houston in the Lone Star Division and Ladd figures to sit right in the middle of the powerful Tulsa lineup, protecting 1B Curt Whimster.

IBL Power Rankings
1) Chicago
2) El Paso
3) Las Vegas
4) Pittsburgh
5) Columbus

Bottom 5
22) Green Bay
23) Brooklyn
24) San Antonio
25) Corpus Christi
26) West Michigan

Leaders

I may start posting more leader pages instead of text, as it shows my uni's and logo's and stuff, and I just put another evening into working on them league wide.

I think it will show up when the new budgets are set for next season, i.e. first day of the off-season.

Week 16

WEEK 16 (7/20-26)
1 @ Columbus (59-36 5 GB of us)
3 vs Green Bay (38-57 26 GB MW)
Off day
2 @ Dayton (47-48 17 GB MW)

GAME 96
This line score by Alejandrez 6-3-4-3-5-1 started with walking the first three hitters of the game. We lost, but it was not the disaster it was looking to be. Mike Holmes (9-7) went 7.1-6-3-3-3-4 for the win. Wes Morgan had half our hits going 3-4 with 2 runs 2 RBI’s on a double (18) and his 22nd HR. Ivan “Tall One’ Lopez got his 24th Save. I mention his nickname because he’s 6’2”, and he’s not from anywhere near Texas, which says to me his nickname is far more relevant to how he relaxes than any physical trait. And as I learned, players with nicknames associated with alcohol are ALWAYS the first names you offer in winter meetings discussions.
COL 4 CHI 3 (64-32 +4)

GAMES
2 time All Star Vince Bray (PIT) continued his quest for a Koufax Award yesterday, spinning a 3 hit 9 K shutout in San Antonio to move his record to 14-2 1.96 on the year. Coming off his 20 win season of ’14, Bray is positioning himself for the pitching triple crown in leading the 1st place Bulldogs to a 61-35 record and whopping 15 game lead on defending world champion Philadelphia and 2015 CL Wild Card Baltimore. The ‘Dawgs are 1st in Runs against, Starting and Bullpen ERA.

STREAKS
Jesus Andrales had his 23 game hitting streak ended today in an 0-4 9-4 loss to Philadelphia.

INJURY NEWS
The Dayton Dragons learned they will be without regular 3B Julian Martinez for the next 5 weeks after he broke his hand today. The 31 year old has been at the hot corner for the past 4 years in Dayton with a 389/395/408 slash line over 502 games. He’s scored 325 runs, hit 169 doubles and driven in 220 while stealing 29-36. Dayton will move 2012 1st round draft choice (24th overall) Alfonso Gallegos at 3B with Martinez out. The 24 year old is a gold glove defender who scouts believe should hit enough to hold the job someday.

GAME 97
Ron Cox (7-6-4-4-2-1) gave up 3 first inning HR’s, including back to back to Enrique Rocha (6) and Todd Helton (14) and an out later Josh Hamilton (16) but managed to knuckle down after. Torres (H4) van Bodegraven (H8) and Moore (H5) worked the 8th and Ernesto Cruz pitched a perfect 9th with 2K’s for his 2nd save. Bill Alexander went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s on a double (10) and Wes Morgan went 2-4 with a run and an RBI and Alfredo Lozano went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s. Jean Chartier went 2-3, scored twice and stole his 21st bag.
CHI 6 GB 4 (65-32 +4)

GAME 98
4 home runs in the games 1st 4 innings set the tone (Lozano (1) Lorenzelli (7) Gutierrez to lead off the game (6) Feliz (6). Spike Davis held the Blizzard hitless into the 4th in a 7-4-2-2-2-4 to move to 12-3. Gutierrez was 3-5 scoring twice with his 28th double, Feliz went 2-5 with 2 runs and 2 RBI’s and Jesus Fuentes hit his 1st IBL HR. Todd Helton hit his 15th in the loss.
CHI 10 GB 3 (66-32 +4)

GAMES
Columbus Clipper Marcos Diaz moved to 12-4 3.73 after throwing his 2nd consecutive shut out. He blanked Dayton 8-0 on 5 hits and 4 K’s just 5 days after his 6 hitter vs West Michigan in which he K’d 11.

MINOR LEAGUES
Chandler Pursuers 21 year old SP Mike Barber moved to 5-3 3.36 after he punched out 16 Des Moines Officers yesterday. This was Mike’s 2nd 15K start, he punched out 15 Whitwell Wart Hogs in May of this year. Barber was signed as a minor league free agent by Staten Island in 2012, released and signed by Michigan in the 2013 off season. This game was noteworthy for 2 reasons, Barber’s 16 K’s and his teammate, Chris Green, a 23 year old RF who went 3-4 with all 6 runs driven in on 3 HR’s. Green is hitting 270-15-65 in 96 games. He’s the Battlecats 13th round pick in the 2013 draft out of North Carolina.

GAME 99
Mike Davis tossed 113 pitches to get through 5 in a 5-9-4-4-4-8 no decision. The pen then went 6-3-0-0-4-6 before Jose Torres (0-1) couldn't escape 12th inning trouble. Ernesto Gutierrez went 2-2 with 4 walks and his 20th SB, Bill Alexander hit his 29th HR with 2 RBI’s and Rafael Flores went 3-5. Lorenzelli hit his 29th double and stole his 16th base.
GB 6 CHI 4 (66-33 +3)

TRADE NEWS
The deadline is quickly approaching and some teams are wasting no time. Arizona traded 3B Ramiro Villanueva and 550K in cash to Houston for OF prospect Bernardo Montoya. Villanueva is hitting 355/393/448 in 41 games over 172 AB’s with 4 HR’s 21 RBI’s. He will move into the 2 hole in Houston as it’s doubtful Millard O’Reilly will return this year and Houston’s lead over Tulsa is now just 1 game. Montoya was the Roughriders 2nd round pick (27 overall) in the 2014 draft and the IBL’s #40 prospect entering this year. The 18 year old will report the Rookie League Durham where he will play all three OF positions. His ++ tool is his power but he has yet to show it.

GAME 100
Bartolo Serrano (8-10 3.77) was on. Going 8.1-4-0-0-1-5 before Bill Barlow got the final 2 outs for his 26th Save. Dan MacFadden (6-5) threw very well going 7-7-2-2-4-7 in the loss. Chartier was 2-4.
DAY 3 CHI 0 (66-34 +3)

Feature I would like

I would like a setting to 'save box scores' with certain criteria. No hitters, 20+ run games, and the like, just for my players/teams. That way, since I missed saving the box from my first no hitter, it would be there anytime, any year, I wanted to see it or post it.
Something that wouldn't eat a crap ton of memory beyond what's already there, but that insured box scores I set criteria for, and maybe even have a clicky in the post game box that said "Archive this Box score?" or something, where it would never be lost.

July end, homestretch coming!

A look at the standings, and a comp to the standings and leaders at the AS break and how everyone is doing, first in the Coastal.

Pittsburgh has pretty much locked the Keystone, with Bray having a Koufax season and Boswell locking them down, Roa's emergence has made them an early favorite.

Tulsa's picked up 5 on Houston who continues to battle through a ton of injuries and their top 2 starters being out.

Vegas has managed to get some breathing room in the Pacific and it's a 2 team race now that LA went 12-19.

The Wild Card appears to be the race to watch over here, 6 teams within 6 with about 55-60 left.

Andrales is on a record setting pace, .369 is the IBL single season record. Arredondo is having another huge year for Philly.

Bray is dominating the pitching in every possible way.

Over in the Frontier League

Since the break Staten Island has gone 15-16 but picked up 4 on the 11-20 Bisons.

Columbus has matched our 20-11 run, keeping it at 4 but pretty much locking the Wild Card for one of us.

El Paso is tied with us for the IBL's best record and running away with the West.

Gutierrez has fallen off the pace but still leading, and Vargas has dropped his pace but is still in range of the vaunted 61.

Calhoun will likely fall from the ERA race soon and that means Spike's got a shot. He and Alejandrez are within range of the first 20 win season for a Chicago pitcher.

Week 17

WEEK 17 (7/27-8/2)
1 @ Dayton
3 vs Staten Island
3 vs Edmonton

GAME 102
Ron Cox (8-4) was brilliant in a complete game 2 hitter. He went 9-2-1-1-1-6. The bottom of the lineup carried us today with 6-9 going 8-13 with 4 runs and 5 RBI’s lead by Paul Riggs 2-3 3 RBI day on his 24th double and Raul Feliz 2-3 2 run day. Ernesto Gutierrez went 1-5 with 2 RBI’s on his 29th double.
CHI 7 DAY 1 (68-34 +5)

GAMES
Rialcats Fernando Martinez tossed a 4 hitter on LA in moving to 6-7 5.64 on the year.

INJURY NEWS
El Paso Diablo 3B Vincent Lange (294-19-50) will miss the next 3 weeks with an ankle sprain suffered in todays game.

TRADE NEWS
The New York Knights have traded 2B Tomas Ruiz (243-13-48 in 88 games) and 24 year old prospect SP Alfredo Lucrerios and a 3rd round pick to Sacramento for 26 year old OF Jamie Hilton. Hilton (rated by the bureu as a 3.5 star prospect) has hit 259/351/453 in 71 games this year with 11-17 steals. He’s a leader who everyone feels will be a 25 homer 410 OBP corner OF. Lucererios was the Knights 7th rounder (156 overall) in 2014 out of Arkansas State and is 1-4 5.16 in Class A this year.

GAME 103
Paul Riggs continued to snap out of his funk going 3-4 with his 25th double and 2 RBI’s and Rafael Flores went 2-4 with a double (4) and triple (1) and 2 runs. Alfredo Lozano went 3-4 with a run. Massi Lorenzelli went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s on his 30th double and Wes Morgan drove in 2 in a 1-4 day. Spike Davis (13-3) went 5-7-4-4-1-4 surrendering Travis Bryants 21st HR.
CHI 9 SI 4 (69-34 +5)

GAME 104
A banged up Raul Feliz went 2-4 and drove in the game winner on a 9th inning walk off single. Jean Chartier went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s on his 18th HR and Wes Morgan drilled his 23rd. Paul Riggs went 2-3 and Mike Davis wiggled in and out of jams going 5-6-4-4-6-4 before Jose Torres came in to toss 3 hitless innings in relief before Ryan Pennington (6-1) got the final 6 outs in perfect order with 3 K’s.
CHI 5 SI 4 (70-34 +5)

INJURY NEWS
Columbus Clipper CF Antonio Santana, at 27, is done. The outfield called it quits after a severely damaged ankle refused to co-operate. In 294 career games he hit 278/339/355 with 59 doubles, 11 triples and 5 home runs with 82 RBI’s and 167 runs. He also stole 64-101 bases finishing 6th in the FL in 2013 with 32.

TRADE NEWS
Arizona dealt 32 year old 2B Thatcher Smith and a 2nd round pick to Alaska for 29 year old Catcher Doug Winston and 22 year old catching prospect Tim Cade. Winston was hitting 238-11-38 in 82 games for the Aces after being acquired from Baltimore in the expansion draft. He was the everyday catcher for the Railcats playing in 409 games over the 3 years, hitting 38 HR’s and driving in 160. Cade is an outstanding defensive catcher who was signed by the Aces as a minor league free agent. He figures to get a shot at the every day job in the next year or two if he continues to progress, having great strike zone awarenees and outstanding gap power. Smith is a marginal defender who’s bat is his tool. A very good base stealer who puts the ball in play he’s a career 296/365/432 hitter in 384 games with 95 doubles 12 triples and 19 HR’s. He’s struck out just 101 times to 144 walks in over 1300 career AB’s. It’s likely Alaska will use him as bait to continue getting stronger in the draft and younger down below.

GAME 105
MacFadden (6-6) was in a hole early and we never dug out. Going 5.1-7-6-6-3-4 as Ron Pearce (14-6 3.58) shut down the Chicago offense with a 8-9-1-1-2-1 outing. Bill Alexander was 3-4 and Alfredo Lozane went 2-3 with his 1st SB.
SI 6 CHI 1 (70-35 +4)

GAME NEWS
Bulldog Ace Vince Bray tossed his 2nd shutout in 10 days, this time a 4 hitter vs Philly in which he struck out 9. He’s now 16-2 1.97 with 161 K’s in 173.1 IP. All three totals are CL best with his 16 wins an IBL lead by 2 over Staten Island’s Ron Pearce (14-6 and the guy who just shut us down).
