The 1984 season has been full of contract demands, many players are set to become FA's. The Royals and Dodgers appear to be headed to division titles yet again, however, St Louis and Detroit are being challenged by the Mets and the Blue Jays. Here is a list of recent milestones as well as major injury info.

As for the FA's to be, ownership is still demanding a WS crown and indicates they will execute a wait and see approach, anything shy of a title may lead to a massive rebuild.

Steve Carlton (SL) gets win # 250
Buddy Bell (CLEV) gets hit #2000

Tom Seaver (NYA) lost for the season
Rick Reuschel (KC) out for 9 months
Harold Reynolds (SEA) out 6 months
Danny Jackson (KC) out 5 months
Don Mattingly (NYA) out 6 weeks

Dennis Rasmussen (SD) goes distance while striking out 20 while beating the Reds

NL East only remaining race, Royals and BLue Jays with comfortable leads, same with the Dodgers. The NL East is set to go down to the wire, the Mets have a 5 game lead on SL and a 7.5 gm lead on Montreal. However the Expos are ALL-IN, having picked up Paul Molitor and Kirby Puckett at the deadline. The Molitor deal cost them Bryn Smith, but wow those are a couple of big pickups

Saberhagen (KC) out for 9 months
sets up the dealing of Pat Sheridan to Boston for John Tudor

Brett (KC) gets hit #2000
Carew (MIL) gets hit #3000
Jose Cruz (MIL) gets hit #2000
Graig Nettles (BAL) hits HR #300
Darrel Evans (BOS) hits HR #300

The Royals owner Ewing Kaufmann died on the evening of the trade deadline, his son has taken over and is said to be controlling financially and demanding on the field of play. Lets hope the boys in blue can bring home another title

The Tigers go 40-16 after the AS break to catch, and pass the Blue Jays with an 11 inning 3-2 win in a 1 game playoff.

Royals v Tigers again, Mets v Dodgers in the NL

The Mike Schmidt era appears to be over in KC as he has opted out of his contract. The Dodgers have won their 3rd championship in 4 years and as you can see they and the Tigers remain the teams to beat. With yet another playoff collapse and new ownership, look for possible changes in KC, they have already slashed the budget by over a million dollars.

Tony Gwynn won his 2nd straight batting title in the NL
in the AL Greg Walker (CHW) has won his first

Toby Harrah and Bobby Grich (CIN) both reach the 2000 hit plateau
Jim Rice (KC) hits HR #300
Dale Murphy (BOS) sees his 33 game hit streak snapped on final day of season

Tigers and Dodgers. That's starting to get old. Pretty soon they'll be hated as much as the Yanks!

No doubt, it is pretty crazy the way that has turned out. The Tigers even seem to battle injury after injury, especially Whitaker. Oh well, maybe next year will be different.

The biggest downside of Brett's career was how much he was hurt, but it went hand in hand with how hard he played the game.

Love how it's going, royalblue5!

Well once again the NL reigns supreme, however, in 1985 it was the New York Mets over the Oakland A's

Now time to move on to the FA market

Brian Downing and John Tudor have both opted for FA, best of luck to them.

The Royals have sent Scott Bankhead and Buddy Biancalana to the Astros in exchange for Dennis Martinez.

Tommy John was inducted into the HOF

1987 complete

The Dodgers continue their dominance in the NL West, however the Cubs beat them out of a shot at the 1987 World Championship.

In the AL the Red Sox got past the A's to set up a rather interesting WS

The Red Sox beat the Cubs in 6 games, congrat to the Boston Red Sox winning their first title after 3 previous empty trips

Here is a look at the standings, I will update the award winners shortly
