Everything else being equal, I hope that when a bigger player hits/checks an opponent in OOTP Hockey it will have more impact than when a smaller player hits/checks the same opponent.

I also just found out about this and I am excited, I loved EHM and I imagine that this game will be at least the equal of it. I also hope that the modding community can ad the pictures of the players like FM or a mix like OOTP. I will be purchasing this.

Can we have a rule that the Leafs can't make the playoffs?
That would be awesome and mirror real life.
![]() This is probably too difficult, but could you see a time that the game would be able to handle full time 5x5 hockey? To me the game is much more open and exciting with only 4 skaters. My brother says that's not hockey and I have to tell him that original game had six skaters (and more before that). Five skaters were not standardized until about 1910. Alternatively, what about playing NHL in Olymic sized rinks? I think either project would be too difficult to code, so I'll have to be content with NHL style hockey in my fictional universe, but I look forward to this game very much. Thank you very much! I've been looking for something to replace EHM for some time now.

Can't wait for this game. EHM was great and all, but it's been too long since we've had a new hockey sim. Looking forward to this for sure

If you want to market this to a big hockey audience, buy one of the flash banner spots from HFBoards when the release closes in = Money.

Allow me to join the legion of people who have joined the forums to say "amen" to this hockey game. Been a OOTP fan for a long time, can't wait to see this one!

As if you probably haven't already heard it enough before, this project is a thoroughly great news
![]() I have one question for you guys. With every single management game I've played, I've had issues with the names of the generated players. These were either bad because the sets were too small or poorly built (which can always be fixed), because the game didn't take into account regional variations within a country (e.g. Canada, Switzerland or the italian Tyrol; true for FM and EHM) or because there were too few namesets to adequately cover the whole world (OOTP). I know the regional part has been tackled already - great! But one question is left unanswered: will this game be restricted in the number of namesets supported as is the case with OOTP? 40 sets in OOTP kinda covers the parts of the world where you can expect a baseball player to come from, but makes fantasy expansions of the world rather bad rather fast. However, with like 90 sets you barely begin to accurately depict the hockey world, let alone allow fantasy expansions! - YZG Last edited by YZG; 05-06-2012 at 12:21 PM. |

I can also help with the French translation. I'm from Québec and I've been doing translation as part of my job for a few months now. Also a big hockey fan.
So if any help is needed, I'd be willing to do it. |

The International Ice Hockey Federation has 51 full members, of which about a quarter are barely able to field a national squad, let alone contribute players to professional leagues. I sincerely doubt that Mongolia, Hong Kong, India, or North Korea are sending a lot of players to the NHL. Forty name sets would be perfectly adequate for a realistic representation of international hockey as it currently exists. |

To me this is one of the many things the community here can help with. I'd have no idea how it would work but I think it'd be great if the game could integrate and use downloadable packs from a website (say). The packs could be made by the community; say a pack for more names and another one for more players and another for more leagues and another for rule sets and another for interface languages and so on... Clearly the hockey sim community is pretty desperate for a new game. I know I'd like to help this in any way possible, and I'm obviously not the only one. Gives the coders more time to code the game rather than worrying about the small things that any one of us could help with.

I am thrilled to read this. My one question is will there be an IOS version? I have a young family and have more time on my iPad/iPhone with them than I do on my computer.
Thanks and good luck! |

If we look at the current 40 sets that come with OOTP, we can always part ways with African, Indian, Polynesian, Filipino, Indonesian, Pakistani, Vietnamese and US Historical. These can be replaced by Ukrainian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Belarussian, Slovak, Slovenian and Hungarian. We're back at 40. But we still miss Swiss German, Italian German (South Tyrolers actually make up a good percentage of the players hailing from Italy), Romansh (several top Swiss players are Romansh), Swiss French (yes, there's many unique names not found in France), Tatar (several past and present notable Soviet/Russian players are Tatars, such as Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, for instance), Israelis (yes, there are pros such as Alon Eisenman), Bulgarian, Icelandic or ethnic Kazakhs, who are increasingly numerous. We're up to 49, and I did not consider any Division III nation, nor any of the affiliated members who are beginning to play or are newly registered, nor even Belgium, which would need two sets. My point is, it's not so much a need to release a game that contains a hundred name sets that matters. It could only come with 20 and I wouldn't mind, as long as it is possible to add more. That's the key part - being able to add more ourselves if we are so inclined, which, as far as I know, is not possible in OOTP. If the devs want to keep their current nameset structure, they could perhaps just include 20, 50, 100 or however many as seen fit empty set slots which can be filled and attributed a custom name. -YZG |
