Inland Empire tightened their grip on the top spot with a second straight series sweep of Terra Incognita, the one contender with the opportunity to keep the Wranglers in sight. I've dispensed with the relegation standings since the store is closing after this season.

Inland Empire's production slipped the tiniest bit, down to a mere .800, at 8-2 for the month. With only seven OL games remaining on their schedule, they would probably need a total collapse to fall short.

A bad month for Knockemstiff sees Cary jump just ahead. The two have gone tit for tat, with Cary pulling off a 4-game sweep, and, with 1 potentially crucial game left, Knockemstiff may be on for a 3-game sweep in return. After that, HelthWyzer play Cary 3 times and Knockemstiff 6.

September will be a victory lap for the dominant Wranglers who have built an insurmountable lead.The only races are for the individual awards where Inland Empires Dave Parker battles teammates Steve Finley and Evan Longoria as well as Terra Incognita's Pete Rose and Enos Slaughter, and Left Coast's Tony Perez. The Rustlers' Joe Wood and New York's Dave Stieb are locked in a tight scrum with the Wranglers' Don Sutton and Fernando Valenzuela for Denton True honors.

Knockemstiff did win that final game against Cary, and it was indeed crucial. Cary swept HelthWyzer 3-0, and Knockemstiff could 'only' manage 5-1. Cary will have to settle for giving their Founders trophy a polish

The Shiners also cleaned up on the Kauff and True awards, with Tris Speaker and Pedro being clear choices.

And so, that's it for Diamond. No question that Gold and below have given a better OL experience, but it's been cool when there's been enough teams!

Congratulations to the Silly Mad Brewers, Kings of Gold!

The Mundys went 2-7 against their good chums Waffletown, no doubt leaving Stanley shaking his head again... Let's hope they can pick up another championship!

Silly's speedy Billy Hamilton takes the Kauff award, and Port Ruppert's Greg Maddux the True award.

Gold's been a lot of fun, though maybe a bit too predictable since really good teams started getting relegated from Diamond. But there's always been a nice varied mix of teams at Gold.

Paxville's maiden trip to Perfect was a bit meh in the end. They finished 78-84. That right column is kind of ugly! (20 teams)

While Inland Empire coasted through their final spin, the fight for post season individual awards was more closely contested, with Left Coast's Tony Perez narrowly winning the Kauff Award, primarily because of his relative importance in his team's line-up. He just didn't seem to have quite as much help as the other contenders. Terra Incognita's Joe Wood's 25 wins were the deciding factor in the close race for the True Award. In PT play, OL is well represented, but Bluffton lost a heartbreaker. 3-1. in a playoff for the second AC wild card, while Iron Maiden and Boulder City could not quite close the gap in the NC. Good luck to those vying for PT honors.
I am not sure why I kept calling the league S326 in the headlines this whole season. Thankfully, the standings had the correct number all along.
