Since no one guessed, it's Paul Waner. His brother Lloyd's photo was also used for Buck Anderson, who pitched for the Red Sox, Cubs, Indians, A's, Phils and Braves from 1927-44... Went 144-153 with a 3.96 ERA.

Just that one little thing went missing. Lots accomplished by this team, though.

Boris is really coming around though. He looked like he was going to wash up a few years ago but has really rejuvinated himself. He should be an all-star one day.

Reminds me of Doyle Alexander, traded to the Tigers for a young Smoltz.

This trade stinks for the Braves, easily their worst. But Boris & Lovely will have to produce in the majors to eclipse the Dodgers gift... err, trade... of Rhino and Speedy to the Phils for Petty and the mistaken-identity O'Hara. Right now it's still speculation (but still a bad trade).

Nope. I wrote about one of these before:

1914 STL: 1B Sam Gardner, 2B Maurice Woodson, SS Palmer Starrett, 3B Terrey Christiansen

1921 BSN: 1B Donn Graham, 2B John Thiessen, SS Chip Houk, 3B Roy Drinkard

1953 CIN: 1B Ted McMurray, 2B Maurice Goza, SS Dennis Ward, 3B James Jones

The Woodson/Christiansen IF is probably the best of all-time. Woody won 12 GG. Christiansen won 7. In Woody's era the Cardinals first basemen also won 8 GG, the SS won 4, and the 3B won 8 (one in addition to Christiansen's 7).

Think about that for a moment.

From 1909-1920, 48 IF GG were given out in the NL.

The Cards won 32 of them.

The Reds have won 10 over the past three years. They have a long way to go.

Biff had an off throwing year for him - 37.9%. Still good, but Rauch was up at 46.7%. The negative in the vote was that Rauch was giving up 200+ innings to Biff. In a sense, that's not "Rauch's Fault" since it was an export error that cost him a SIM and 100+ innings.

Can you edit these two into the ML Records:

OBP: .529 Ray Kress (.520 Woody Woodson, 1914)
OPS: 1.205 - Ray Kress (1.198 Kress, 1950)

OOTP doesn't track it in the "Record Book", so one has to look it up in other ways.

To me, the OBP is one of the Big Ones. It's like Bonds breaking Ted Williams' OBP mark that had been set back in 1941. Kress taking it from Woody is HUGE.

Kress new holds two of the four Percentage marks:

BA: .445 - Levi Walls (1923)
OBP: .529 - Ray Kress (1953)
SLG: .709 - Oscar Vancini (1937)
OPS: 1.205 - Ray Kress (1953)

At one time, it looked like this:

BA: .444 - Woody Woodson (1914)
OBP: .520 - Woody Woodson (1914)
SLG: .662 - Woody Woodson (1914)
OPS: 1.181 - Woody Woodson (1914)

The OBP mark is the last of Woody's legendary Grand Slam of Records to fall. He also set the Hits and Runs record that year.

The first two fall was the BA to Tyke. No one else has topped Woody's mark since.

Pops Falise broke the SLG record with .677 in 1925, which Oscar would break in 1937 with the current mark. Only Oscar (.690 in 1939) and Kress (.708 in 1950 and .676 in 1953) have topped Woody's mark since then.

Kress' 1.198 OPS in his 1950 Triple Crown broke Woody's mark. He then topped it again in 1953.

40 years later, Woody's 1914 marks still rank sky high on the all-time lists. Amazing.

Woody won 12 GG. Christiansen won 7. In Woody's era the Cardinals first basemen also won 8 GG, the SS won 4, and the 3B won 8 (one in addition to Christiansen's 7). Think about that for a moment. From 1909-1920, 48 IF GG were given out in the NL. The Cards won 32 of them. The Reds have won 10 over the past three years. They have a long way to go. > except for Betters (robbed again?) To me, the OBP is one of the Big Ones. It's like Bonds breaking Ted Williams' OBP mark that had been set back in 1941. Kress taking it from Woody is HUGE. Modified from an post made during the season on the TB board: Kress new holds two of the four Percentage marks: BA: .445 - Levi Walls (1923) OBP: .529 - Ray Kress (1953) SLG: .709 - Oscar Vancini (1937) OPS: 1.205 - Ray Kress (1953) At one time, it looked like this: BA: .444 - Woody Woodson (1914) OBP: .520 - Woody Woodson (1914) SLG: .662 - Woody Woodson (1914) OPS: 1.181 - Woody Woodson (1914) The OBP mark is the last of Woody's legendary Grand Slam of Records to fall. He also set the Hits and Runs record that year. The first two fall was the BA to Tyke. No one else has topped Woody's mark since. Pops Falise broke the SLG record with .677 in 1925, which Oscar would break in 1937 with the current mark. Only Oscar (.690 in 1939) and Kress (.708 in 1950 and .676 in 1953) have topped Woody's mark since then. Kress' 1.198 OPS in his 1950 Triple Crown broke Woody's mark. He then topped it again in 1953. 40 years later, Woody's 1914 marks still rank sky high on the all-time lists. Amazing. "Records are meant to be broken.
