2027 - No Hitter #1
The first no-hitter of the 2027 season happened on opening day in Anaheim as Bob Emslie accomplished the feat for the Los Angeles Angels against the Barcelona Magicians. This particular game was a PERFECT GAME. Emslie fanned 13 batters in the game. Barcelona Centerfielder Michael Taylor was bewildered "I don't think we were ready for opening day, Emslie was throwing gas". Kevin Bell had 3 hits and hit a 2 run homer to lead the offense to the 6-0 win. It was the first no-hitter in Angels history and the second time Barcelona was no-hit as they were no-hit in 2026 by Jacob deGrom and the Richmond Gamecocks.

Jim Gentile had a monumental day by hitting his 300th career homer today for the Amsterdam Smokies in an 8-5 home loss to the Indianapolis Bulldogs. Gentile's 6th homer of the year comes off of Indianapolis reliever Mike Clevenger. Gentile played the first 8 years of his career with the Texas Rangers and Pittsburgh Pirates before ending up at 38 years old in the land of hash.
Night club scene dancer and Vancouver Men-O-War pitcher Tony Manero was majestic in a 4 hit shutout today as Vancouver blanked the Scranton Owls 3-0 on the road at Dunder-Mifflin Stadium. Manero fanned 3 and walked none and lower his ERA to 0.48. Most of Vancouver's offense came on a 2 run homer by John Kruk. Manero won a world series ring with the Las Vegas Snake Eyes and then surprised everyone by signing with Vancouver and his good fortune has turned Vancouver into a title contender. Texas Rangers catcher Michael Barrett has had a quiet 9 year career in Texas but has been effective. Today he slugged 6 hits and drove in 4 runs as the Rangers gave the Athens Odyssey a home thumping 41-5. Texas stars Grady Hatton and Jimmie Hall drove in 7 and 6 runs respectively. Bobby Bonds had a big game too for Texas with 5 hits and 6 runs scored. Nilsson drove in 9 runs in the contest while stoner rookie 3rd Baseman Jeff Spicoli had 4 hits in this one sided game The Myrtle Beach Rage announced today that Philly police officer Nate Lahey will retire at the end of the year. Lahey is a classic extended career due to expansion and at 36 years old has a career record of 25-62 with a lousy 7.47 ERA Ray Sadecki of the Hicksville Comets is done for the year in his rookie season with partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. The Sedona Mules claimed Dave Foutz on waivers today from the Key West Condors. Foutz was 12-3 in 2026. |
