AJ and I share in the lack of options for number 21 and the one guy who stands out. This guy won 3 of his 7(!) Cy Young awards in a Red Sox uniform and even an MVP award in 1986. He also had two other top-3 finishes in the Cy Young voting in his 13 seasons in Beantown, where over 2500 of his 4672 career strikeouts occurred. It's no wonder they called him "The Rocket." Sadly, steroids tarnish his legacy (in my opinion, rightly so). #21 Roger Clemens

Who would've predicted at the start of this thread that Jimmy Key would've been the most counted down player? I guess that's his reward for being good and wearing a lot of different numbers.
#21 Jimmy Key

20 days! We've officially reached the stage where we can now count down using our fingers and toes....well, unless you're Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown, that is.
![]() It's tough for a Yankee fan my age to settle on just one #20, so I'll give props to two. First, the man the Yankees actually retired #20 for, one of the "Core Four", Jorge Posada. ![]() There's undoubtedly a moment in every baseball fan's life when they became an unconditional fan of the sport for life.....meaning that no matter how avaricious and pompous the owners and players get; no matter how much they take you as a fan for granted, you'll always come back for more because of that magical feeling you experienced that only a slow fire, tension-laden, suspenseful moment in a baseball game can provide. For me, that moment occurred when I was 9 years-old, on October 2, 1978. From that day forward, baseball was my religion, which, in a strange way, sorta makes the guy below a kind of prophet or guru, I suppose. Bucky Dent

New York Mets Centerfielder Tommie Agee making one of 2 great catches in one World Series Game vs the Orioles in 1969.

He broke the colour barrier for managers, but that was after a looong and distinguished career as an all-time great. Oriole fans, don't let this posting make you think you can't post him in your favourite colours. I'm posting him as a Red (or Redleg for some of the time) because that's where he did the most cumulative damage, but he did a ton of damage as an Oriole too. Frank Robinson #20

This guy's one of the guys who brought winning back to this town. Plays hurt all the time, yet rarely misses any time. He's so good that this is a two part post (yeah, serious mancrush/baseballcrush...sue me). The first picture is him with the only position player in MLB with a better bWAR over the past four seasons (at an All-Star game). The second and third are of the Statcast of his sensational catch in Tampa in 2015, and the aftermath of said catch. The fourth of this montage is his iconic slide into home during a game in 2015 against the Indians. Is he a cocky SOB? Hell yeah! Can he back it up? Um, hell yeah! Josh Donaldson #20

Oh hai! Back for more JD. The first shot is of him after he took a Kelvim Herrera 98 mph fastball to the helmet in 2016. I honestly thought he was dead. I thought it was over for him. Then he got up and went down to first. Geez! He's great in the field too, as the second shot shows him firing the ball with Marco Estrada ducking out of the way. The third and fourth are sweet walkoff moments against a couple of bitter rivals. The first of these is a regular season walkoff single against KC in 2015, and the second is in the aftermath of a walkoff slide home on a bunch of Texas Ranger miscues to end the 2016 ALDS. As the sign in LF said: "Would rather get punched in May than knocked out in October" BOOM! Mic drop! Josh Donaldson #20 part II

This might be the greatest sports moment of my lifetime for me. Nothing much better than Rivera giving up a hit to lose the WS for the Yankees.
